I ordered in so I can’t speak for the atmosphere, but the food was excellent. I got the dirty donkey and it was an interesting and delicious take on a burrito. I’m used to eating green chili from New Mexico but regular chili smothered burrito was very good! And it was HUGE!! Haha! The sent chips and salsa which were also very good. They also sent utensils, which if you live the hotel life you know not all places do. 5 stars for me and will add to my rotation when I return!
The crawfish were excellent. Not too spicy just right. The band was great. And the service was polite and quick.
Came in on a Saturday mid-afternoon. Restaurant was clean and the staff was attentive. We had the Queso Blanco and it was very good. For entrees we had Birria Enchiladas with Charro Beans and Rice along with Birria Quesadillas both were very well seasoned and tasted great. The salsa I thought was very good, but for my partner was a little too spicy. Bill with two sodas and tip was $72.
Service was really nice. I got the birria enchiladas. The only complaint I have is the sauce tasted like a crawfish boil
We love coming to eat here. Everything we have had was always cooked to perfection! Even on busy days service is always good. The white queso is a must try. The salsa isn’t too hot but has a little kick. The chicken diablo is a great choice. We enjoy being able to talk and watch the game. Always a top choice!
Perfect experience, great flavors and portions. Definitely want to try some other items on menu. A week later- Tried the Tex-Mex plate with the enchilada and fajita, disappointing, needed a little onion and bell pepper included and at $20+ they certainly have it priced where a few onion and bell pepper strips should be included. The chicken fajita was great, the steak not good though. Won’t ever order that again.
I showed up for the crawfish and margaritas, so I can't judge the TexMex food yet, but the boiled crawfish was juicy and easy to peel! I asked for spicy and it showed up with the right amount of spice! The potatoes were also cooked perfectly and were very soft! The butter-sauce was very good with the potatoes! The chips were good and the salsa was okay. It's served warm, which I'm just not a big fan of... To the margaritas...I got the "Skinny Margarita". It was very flavorful with the perfect amount of tequila. I'll definitely be back to Sombrero's!
First time trying this place and we were not disappointed! Chicken Diablo is spot on, not dry or greasy! Full of flavor! Enchiladas w/beef Fajita meat was ok, the beef was tough and chewy, had a tang to it. Rice and beans were ok. Chips and salsa were great! Con Queso was good. Will try this place again.
The birria tacos here are simply amazing! I really appreciate the fact this place separates the grease from the consummate. Ive been to a lot of places that don't. The consummate was so flavorful I cenjoyed every single drop. One thing I would change. I would love both sides of the taco to be crispy. When one side is crispy and the other is not, it will eventually fall apart. Depending how long you're holding the taco. Lol.
I live nearby, and we order and dine in often. Overall happy, but convenience is most substantial reason for consistent patronage. The biggest problem is the skimping on portions for side items on take out and dine in. Pico, Guacamole tiny cup of salsa is ridiculous!! Nothing worse than getting home and there's half a melon ball scoop of quac and tablespoon of pico for a LARGE fajita quesadillo. There are 13 Mexican restaurants on this stretch of Hwy. We're done.
The restaurant has very good decor and is fairly clean. Our services was good. The waitress was helpful and explained the menu very items very well. However, let's get to why just 2 stars. We went with high expectations due to the excellent reviews we saw but upon tasting the food we began to wonder were was the good food or the taste. The guacamole yes was fresh and on point but the rest was bland and in desperate need of seasoning. Maybe the cook forgot were the seasoning shelf was. My wife had nachos and asked for queso that looked like yesterday's reheated leftover cheese. Not impressed. Needless to say we will not return here. There are better restaurants for authentic Mexican cuisine.
Came in today to give this place another shot, and once again disappointed. We were waited upon and served in a timely manor, but the food just isn’t it. We ordered nachos supreme and birria enchiladas, they looked decent, and the enchiladas were better than the nachos. But our waitress was also rude. She was far too distracted talking to her friends and playing on her phone while we waited to get the ticket. This fortunately is our last trip here. El Viejo Tony will be our place permanently now. Husband and i went after work one day to try their food, and i was unimpressed to say the least. You can tell this is a restaurant that focuses solely on their alcohol drinking customers. We waited 30 minutes to get our drink order taken, another 15 to get the drinks and our order taken, and then another 30 for our food to get brought out. While waiting, we watched people at the bar and at other tables getting constant refills of their alcoholic drinks, and even getting their food before us, and we were there before them. My husband said his food was okay, but mine was over cooked. I personally won’t be back due to lack of service and quality of food.
