The perfect place for date night! I went to celebrate my 2 year anniversary and the food was absolutely amazing, one of the best burgers I've ever had! If you can go on jazz night it creates the perfect atmosphere.
How lucky were we to stumble upon this amazing restaurant! The cozy atmosphere, fun subtle music, menu with the perfect amount of options. Great mixed drinks too. We chose the pretzel board and lobster Mac and cheese for an appetizer. Both were great. The pretzels are baked in house every Wednesday. Our kids split the spaghetti and meatballs. We had the ribeye steak and let me tell you, these were the best steaks we've ever had. Ever. A beautiful gem of a restaurant.
My husband and I went to Rhapsody as part of our "mini-honeymoon" in the Hocking Hills area. When I say I was blown away, that's an understatement. Let me start off by saying our server, Vaneshka, was an AMAZING server. The New York Strip was one of the BEST I ever had in my life! The garlic parmesean french fries were seasoned and crisped perfectly. The lamb shank my husband got was so tender and melted in your mouth. Also, the spiniach artichoke dip was so flavorful, and was still warm when it got to the table. Grest music, amazing atmosphere, and a wonderful experience. I'd rate it 6 stars if I could. Just out of this world overall. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
My husband and I were in town for a Hocking Hills cabin getaway, and we went to Rhapsody for dinner one night. It definitely did not disappoint. I got the pork chop and my husband got the bang bang chicken. They were both delicious and very flavorful. The salad was also really good too. The ranch, which they make in house, was the best I’ve had. The service was very good too. We will definitely come back here next time we are in the area. Thank you, Rhapsody for a wonderful date night.
This place is such a cozy spot! We enjoyed a fabulous dinner here after our graduation from OU. The food, the atmosphere, the staff, and the live Christmas jazz music were all incredible! Reservations are recommended so plan ahead, you won’t regret it!
My boyfriend and I are currently on a weekend trip visiting the area. We made a quick reservation here and were amazed at how gorgeous it was when we arrived. As soon as we walked in the door everyone greeted us and were amazingly polite. Our waitress was also working the bar and she never once forgot about us. Our food and cocktails were amazing and perfectly made. I would give it a million stars if I could! We will definitely be back.
We just went for dessert on a Friday night. My dessert of beignets were beautiful and delicious. My daughters cheesecake was also great. There was lovely music and a wonderful atmosphere. My only complaint was people leaving and coming would hold the door open for their friends and there was often a very cold breeze. I didn’t take a star away since this was not the restaurant’s fault. But try to sit away from the door and if you are visiting, be conscious of the temperature differences.
Beautiful historic and classic place to eat. Wonderful service and food was plated well and was visually pleasing and taste was amazing. Overall we would dine here again.
Omg Amazing food! We ordered the Stuffed Chicken and Glazed Porkchops with a side of the most delicious soup. Chicken and Waffles soup. No complaints here. We will return and recommend.
A nice little place for a casual dinner with friends or family. Service was outstanding, live music that didn't overwhelm the experience and friendly and accommodating staff.
Beautiful small restaurant in Nelsonville. It is connected with Hocking Hills Culinary College so nice to support them. The atmosphere, quality and price were excellent . It is semi casual so you dont have to be too dressed up. Save room for the Chessecake it was excellent.
This was probably the best all around restaurant I've ever been to. The food was absolutely perfect. The entire staff was very professional and really seemed to care. The man playing music was a delight!!! I can't wait to visit the area again so I can try something else on the menu!!!!
Fantastic place for a gourmet brunch at a bargain price for those used to big city prices. Highly recommended!!! Good music and excellent staff as well.
Outstanding service and food provided by the up-and-coming student chefs of Hocking College. Delicious and decadent dessert options and a fabulous selection of appetizers, salads, and entrées. Always a great way to cap a day in Nelsonville! (Seasonal fruit crisp pictured.)
A great place with gourmet chief fixing your food. Ambiance is fantastic and you will love your server. Wine, liquor and beer are available . Ask for a cheese plate...my favorite. If you go on the week end they will have live talent to play music for you and your friends.
The food was delicious! I got the strips of sirloin and my husband got the risotto add chicken - we loved it! The music was very nice too.
Steak and eggs were cooked to perfection. Avocado smash was so delish. Recommend this place for brunch.
Great food and service, make reservations if you plan on going during prime dinner time
Found this little gem on our trip to hocking hills. Ribeye was absolutely amazing! Bang Bang Shrimp was crispy and was super tasty! The strip was money, fish and chips wowed a son, and the other said the smash burger was delish! So hard to please everyone and everyone was PLEASED! The live music was the perfect loudness and really added to the atmosphere. If we are EVER near this restaurant again, WE WILL STOP IN!!!
Light, relaxing music, with a cozy, elegant atmosphere, delicious food and delightful service. I had an excellent experience and would definitely recommend this restaurant.
One of the best experiences at a restaurant that I have ever had. The piano player was amazing really set the mood for the best food my wife and are friends had 10/10 would recommend
Stopped in for dinner on a Friday night. They had live music and weren’t too crowded. The spinach artichoke dip is amazing! We both tried the ipa on draft, it was great. I highly recommend stopping in! The staff was busy but friendly and attentive. Plus the food was delicious.
We've been coming here from Hartville Ohio every years for the past 10 years or so. I had the Pasta Primavera with Salmon that was fantastic. We will keep coming back. Quality food ! The seasoning of the salmon was top notch
Staff was extremely professional and pleasant to speak with. Food was EXCELLENT! I had the salmon with coconut rice and it was the best Salmon I have had in a VERY long time. Smooth and buttery. I will definitely be returning as it is well worth the price!
We are visiting from Columbus on a celebratory weekend. Before leaving to come here, we ate at a fancy restaurant in downtown Columbus that was highly rated. We spent over $250 on our meal for two. Our meal here at Rhapsody absolutely blew that meal out of the water. My husband and I were confounded that a small restaurant we’d never heard of in a small town left us in awe with every bite. We had the Alfredo and the snapper with roasted veggies and beignets for dessert and ever single dish was phenomenal. Service was fantastic. We agreed that we would drive here from Columbus just for dinner. The live music was easy listening and joyful. 10/10 would (and will) come here again!
Vaneshka was our server and she was very knowledgeable about the menu and kind. We loved the food! Compliments to the chef. The atmosphere was warm and music was wonderful. We are residents outside of Athens and will be back for sure!
Sheldon is amazing! My sister and her boyfriend visited Nelsonville a few weeks ago for her birthday and were expecting to have dinner at Rhapsody immediately AFTER a surprise proposal. I called the restaurant and coordinated with Sheldon to make sure their dinner and wine was paid for and that they had a great time. Due to weather issues, unbeknownst to my sister and I, they arrived at the restaurant not yet engaged. Sheldon was fantastic and called me throughout their stay to keep me updated and even assisted him with the set up for the proposal and captured the moment as popped the question table side. Sheldon called me after their meal to let me know how everything went and to keep me updated as my card was charged.
April 4,2025 Atmosphere is very friendly, food is amazing. Jennifer is awesome, she made us feel like we were home. I had a hurricane chaser for my drink and it was awesome.
The food is well with the price -- the chefs are working really hard to make sure all the flavors are correct, and it shows! The jazz music is absolutely wonderful -- it was so nice to hear both songs I know and don't know. A wonderful evening well spent.
We loved our night out for dinner here when enjoying Hocking Hills. The cocktails were smooth and not too boozy. I ordered steak and my husband had the salmon. They were both cooked very well and seasoned incredibly well. We enjoyed the local performance with lots of 90's hits.
This restaurant is part of Hocking College’s culinary school. The food was delicious, I had chicken breast in mushroom sauce - it was cooked perfectly. Our server was very attentive without being obnoxious. A talented jazz band made the whole experience very enjoyable. My only criticism - the chairs were uncomfortable, otherwise we would have had another drink and stayed longer.
We ate here for a belated anniversary dinner. Both of us thought the food was simply amazing. Unpretentious, flavorful, and decent portions. I had the pork chop with a corn and mushroom cream sauce, sweet potato croquettes, and grilled veggies, while my wife had linguini alfredo and we shared a salad. It was a Friday night and the musician was a very talented jazz guitarist. For a last minute call, we were able to get in. We will be back. I promise, we *will* be back!
RHAPSODY BLEW US AWAY! Our server Vaneshka provided exceptional service throughout our meal! We were especially blown away by the quality and artistry of the food and it's plating. My fiancé got the salmon which was cooked to perfection, and I ordered the most tender melt-in-your-mouth slow braised lamb shank. We've dined at premier restaurants in NYC, Boston, Chicago, and beyond, and I repeat - NONE OF THEM COME CLOSE to the level of service, and culinary prowess. Rhapsody is a special place, not only because it is run in association with Hocking College, but because of the people who orchestrate it all! Bravo Rhapsody. BRAVO!
My wife and I visited here to celebrate our anniversary, and we were both pleased with our experience. We were very satisfied with how clean everything was and how well spaced out everyone was. Our server was friendly and prompt, and the food was delicious. I had the steak, which was cooked perfectly to order, and our calamari appetizer was crisp and flavorful. My wife had the duck was very pleased. The chocolate tart we had for dessert was the perfect end to our meal. We will definitely be back!
Have been to this restaurant many times. The food is always delicious and the service is excellent. The atmosphere is wonderful, especially during the nights with live music. We try to go here at least once a month!
I think hidden gem is a term used too often but based on the quality of food and drink and open tables, this is a location that is too well hidden. I guess I really don't want too many people to go, then it becomes too hard to get in. People should go, support it, foster it, let it thrive. #historicnelsonville
We had a great experience here. The bartender was top notch. The food was excellent. And the service/atmosphere were great! The live music was very cool. 3 drinks, appetizer, two entrees, and a dessert ran us about $130. Our second night we got 2 entrees and a dessert, only $50 I recommend the meatloaf it was really good. The jerk spice was not too forward and the mashed potatoes were very buttery and soft.
The food was just ok, the seafood was not fresh. The drinks were however excellent and wonderful jazz. It was my birthday and my husband put it on the reservation and not a word was said..
Service and ambiance we're excellent. Really friendly and attentive staff in a very nice dining room. The entees were excited, Cajun steak with blue cheese and the lake Erie walleye were both really well cooked and tasted great. The sides were also very tasty and went well with the main. My only knocks are the calamari which was cooked to rock hard doneness. The sauce for it was great, but I assure you that calamari was well and truly done well before it came out. We were also disappointed that they were out of both of the desserts we wanted to try. They had a busy night, but we were disappointed. Overall I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again, really a great place.
I took my husband here as part of his 60th birthday celebration. The Rhapsody has a cozy atmosphere. We both had the New York strip. It was delicious and very well prepared. The town is adorable.
Nice restaurant. It's owned and operated by Hocking College, apparently to provide training for their students. The service was very good. Our entrées, salmon and snapper were very good, maybe a little over-seasoned. The wife substituted her rice for the baked mac and cheese. What a great decision. The mac and cheese was phenomenal! In addition to our entrées, we each had a glass of wine and shared a dessert. With tip, our total came to $125 for the two of us. For me, there were two very slight negatives. One, it took over 30 minutes from when we ordered for our entrées to be delivered to our table. Second, the country/bluegrass duo that was performing was just too loud for the tiny dining room. We sat as far from the stage as possible. But, we still couldn't hold a conversation while they were performing.
We enjoyed our dining experience here! The music was fantastic. Despite being very busy, the service was just fine, very friendly. We enjoyed our food, the Smokehouse Burger and the Seared Salmon with Coconut Rice. Cocktails were tasty but a little weak. We recommend this spot for anyone looking for an elevated dining experience in Nelsonville!
I loved the atmosphere, music and our waitress. Didn't really care for the food, but the drink was excellent. The restaurant is small, so we sat outside. They flies were awful!! Not their fault, but be warned.
Great service, the server was really attentive. Food was good, not great, not bad. The dishes were cooked perfectly but the lacked seasoning. The potential was truly there! 7/30/25
This is a great place with friendly service and really good food, with one pretty big exception: the steak. We ate here last week, and everything we ate was AMAZING, except for the steak, which was entirely inedible. We would have thought it a fluke, but we both ordered steak and both servings were horrible. Full of fat and gristle (my arm was tired from sawing at it). We didn’t want to complain, but couldn’t lie when the server asked - we could only choke a couple of bites down. The server, who was very nice, said they must have been bad cuts and gave us a free dessert. My recommendation: get the fish; stay away from the steak!
Rhapsody is is a unique restaurant. Managed and run by Hocking College, it is teaching and a business. It succeeds and fails on many levels and is much to be appreciated in it's guidance to student workers. We came for Wednesday Jazz. Opps .. despite the opening sign on the web site "Jazz every Wednesday 6 to 8 ... that is false" That is the web page Boom, hello intro. We live far, sorta, away so, duh disappointment. Food, kitchen was good, our server first class. Management, meaning Hocking College staff senior old folk, not as old as me so etc. Had every excuse why their marketing staff failed changing the site to the truth about Jazz... oh my oh my. Get done, get it right, but the whining from the leader, poor. Welcoming staff was not trained and unable to manage simple interface. Jennifer a senior and stated manager was ill suited to hospitity and service industry. The students know no no better and are ill served. Several were top notch but led errantly. We went by choice. They had all opportunity. The leadership, Jennifer, and those she blamed, failed. A noble idea failing and justifying failure. There were very few, apx. 10 folks, dining, a disaster for a real restaurant. We came to endorse & engage. Ooops
Wanted to love this restaurant because of its connection to the local culinary school so we gave it a try. Sorry to report that not a single person out of our party of 6 liked their meal. Here are the main complaints: 1. French fries were hollow. Yup, like you could use them as a straw. 2. Several menu items (posted both on their website as well as outside the restaurant) were no longer available. We didn’t find this out until trying to order. 3. The onions in our meal were clearly frozen pearl onions. 4. The portions were TINY and the prices were ridiculous especially considering that the food is prepared by students. 5. While subjective, the flavor profile was milder than what I would even expect from institutional food. I would highly recommend to the school that they look to The School of the Ozarks student-run restaurant for an example of exemplary cuisine and service. You will be doing your students a huge favor. Overall, love the mission of this restaurant but the output leaves much to be desired.
We had a reservation for 5:00 p.m. and of course we arrived about 10 or 15 minutes early. They would not let us in the door until 5:00, which is their opening time. My wife wanted crab cakes and the server told us it would be quite a while because they weren't ready yet. Shouldn't that be prepared prior to opening, or at least have them available within a short period of time? Overall we weren't really impressed. I doubt we dine there again.
We planned our trip to Hocking hills around this place. We LOVE to do brunch here. This year Google says the same hours-Open ect. We get there on our last day and they are closed. There is a sign on the door saying NO MORE BRUNCH as of July 2024. We were so disappointed! 😭 They need to update their website! We will try for dinner next time we are in Nelsonville again.
I’m not sure how this place could possibly constitute “fine dining” The carpets were disgusting and stained, the menus were dirty, the tables were sticky and the decor was straight out of the 90’s. We left even before we ordered because it just felt so gross.
