🔥 Black BBQ Experience Review 🔥 This spot is different. The Black BBQ experience is bold, soulful, and unforgettable. The ribs? Fall-off-the-bone tender and packed with deep, smoky flavor that hits you before the first bite. The chicken? Juicy, seasoned all the way through, and the portions are HUGE — the kind of meal that outlasts your taste buds and has you thinking about it hours later. Every bite feels full-flavored, authentic, and made with real passion. This isn’t just BBQ… this is an experience. If you love real smoked BBQ, this place deserves a visit. 🤤🔥 #BBQReview #FoodieFind #BBQLovers #SmokedMeat #FoodReview #WorthTheCalories
Chicken is moist and tender with smokey flavor. The Jalapeño cheese sausage is not salty and perfectly cooked (they make it there). Giant beef ribs are meaty and flavorful. Mac and cheese is just so good. Their BBQ sauce is amazing, with black pepper hints to it. The sweet tea is freshly made all day!
Some of the best BBQ in Texas! Their original location in Lockhart is better, but for those here on vacation this is pretty close! The fatty brisket is a must! They have alot of sides and the Mac and cheese has a really great smoky taste. It is pricey but you are ordering the meat of your choice by the pound. The smoked turkey is also very good and juicy, not dry. Definitely recommend giving them a try to have authentic Texas BBQ!
The meats are on point , however I'd say the sides just sit at good not great, mainly filler . Basically the mac and cheese was mushy and over cooked . But had decent flavor over all. The cream corn was special tho , very nice . We made pork ribs, brisket , sausage and their mixed meat , all were excellent.
We absolutely loved our meal! Every dish was incredibly flavorful and well-seasoned. Both the macaroni and cheese and the corn were exceptionally creamy and rich. Everything we ordered was prepared to perfection. Even as a takeout order, the quality and temperature held up beautifully. We will definitely be back soon to enjoy the full experience by dining in!
We love craft BBQ and have eaten at many Texas Top 25 BBBQ joints. We decided to start going back to the originals. While this isn’t the original Blacks, don’t sleep on it. The Q was outstanding ol skool Q. We had the fatty brisket, jalapeño cheese sausage and turkey. Great amount of smoke for coal cooking. Glad we stopped in.
Dined in for dinner after a long day out. The bbq hit the spot just right. Had the fatty beef Biscuit, ribs, Mac n cheese, and potato salad. Cafeteria style dining has you eating quickly. The staff were all nice and accommodating. The place was clean and well taken care of. Food all slapped. Would recommend the briscuit. Come and give this spot a try!
This is our first time visiting Blacks BBQ on Veterans Day. My husband and I who are both veterans were so pleasantly surprised by the serving size, the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the restaurant. This was truly a gift for the veterans and active duty service members. The food was so good and we were very full at the end. I would like to commend Black’‘s barbecue for doing this meal for the veterans and Service members year after year. We are very grateful. Thank you so much. 🇺🇸🫡
This was a pretty good barbecue place it is not the best one I've ever had but definitely good. Texas has pretty fierce competition for barbecue places of course. I put a four for atmosphere because it was super loud in there which is not really their fault it's just popular. The prices were pretty reasonable, our total was about $42 for two people. I got the green beans which I would say were an 8 out of 10 The mac and cheese was a 6 out of 10, the pecan cobbler was a 10 out of 10, the brisket was a seven out of 10 a little dry but it was good, the jalapenos were a nine out of 10 just like you'd expect, the house barbecue sauce was an 8 out of 10. My wife is from Venezuela and didn't understand the concept of barbecue so I asked her what she thought and she said that she was said there wasn't more lettuce and tomatoes and avocados. I think she missed the concept. Hahahaha
We made a stop here on our way from the Natural Bridge Caverns to Austin, and we were absolutely blown away by the flavors. Black’s is a 5th-generation family-owned barbecue joint, and you can taste the legacy in every bite. We had the 3-meat plate with brisket, sausage, and chopped beef. The brisket was melt-in-your-mouth tender with a perfect smoke ring and just the right fat cap. The sausage had a great snap and deep seasoning, and the chopped beef was rich, juicy, and full of smoky goodness. For sides, we got the pinto beans and a crisp, refreshing three-bean salad that balanced the meal perfectly. Everything felt homemade and crafted with care. Fast, friendly service and a relaxed, authentic Texas vibe made the experience even better. If you’re anywhere near New Braunfels, this place is an absolute must.
Local barber recommended this spot and I’m so happy I stopped by. Was blown away by the quality of the product here. Me and my friends enjoyed every bit of what we got. Beef rib was amazing. Brisket was delicious. Green beans are one of the best sides in my opinion. Banana pudding was delicious too. A must try if you’re in the area. Price point is a bit higher but definitely one of the best spots for barbecue in town.
Black’s BBQ has earned their reputation. A work colleague and I had an awesome lunch here. The BBQ was incredible. We were worried there might be a line/wait for service but we walked right up and ordered. Servers were really great and the staff was always walking around to check on us. We ordered the beef rib, brisket, turkey, and pork ribs. Our sides included potato salad, baked beans, green beans, and coleslaw. The portions were pretty generous. Sauce was included at the table. Onions and pickles are complimentary and self served. Made a great stop for our trip from San Antonio and Austin.
I'm from Louisiana and everytime we xome.out to visit my brother in law we MUST eat at Blacks. There BBQ brisket is unmatched crispy flavored sides of the brisket with full juicy insides! They have a variety of sides and it runs cafeteria style. You walk up start by picking your sides and what size you want then you move over to THE 🍖 MEATS! They have so many choices and it's all 😋 delicious. The brisket in general just stole me! Visit here if you get the chance. Staff members are sweet and very attentive they don't mind any questions.
I am far from an expert in Texas BBQ but ate at this location as had a great experience at the Blacks in Austin. Wasn’t disappointed. Counter order sides first and the counter to pick meats. Brisket was great. Loved the sausage too. Nice casual atmosphere. Service was so friendly and welcoming. Really good experience.
Solid. Very good. Not as good as Austin Terry Blacks. Lean brisket was just ok. Fatty brisket was very good. I liked the sausage a lot. Had a kielbasa flavor going on, my wife thought it was bland. Potato salad was solid. Great decor, plenty of parking.
Mid grade brisket. IMO. No plate combos. Everything is à la cart which greatly increases cost per person.
We had a delicious beef rib with two sides which fed my husband and myself. The rib was super tender, flavorful, and just fell of the bone. I very much enjoyed it. We had the mac&cheese and cream corn on the side which were good but not my favorite, but that's just me as I often don't care for sides prepared ahead in bulk. The actually BBQ was very good!
The pork belly was the best you will find this far away from S. Korea!! Id drive an hour, again, just for the pork belly! Brisket... hubby loved it, others thought too fatty / greasy, but we DID order mixed so there's that. Pinto beans, perfect texture and thickness, a tad salty. Turkey, moist, tender, tasty. Hubby loved the corn- I never tasted it. I can't truly comment on the BBQ sauce as I always prefer a spicy sauce, thos was not spicy and im pretty sure we'll liked by general population.
Cool place good atmosphere. I think Terry Black's was better wife liked this one better. Both were great.
Several stray cats roaming outside. Atmosphere was ok, very rustic with a lot of tin in the decor. Food was ok- ribs were marginal, brisket was good, other sides were ok. They were served almost buffet style in styrofoam. Sides were hot, meats were not- they carved them at room temperature and plated them. A table of white bread (yuck) and a few extra condiments. The barbque sauce was runny, only one was available. Self serve soft drinks. Seating on antique, rustic wooden chairs.
The barbecue ribs were satisfactory. However, the macaroni and cheese was unappealing and appeared to be stale, and the green beans were excessively salty. The jalapeño cheese sausage also did not meet expectations. The turkey, however, was good. We requested brisket but did not receive it.
We were really looking forward to our dinner here. We hadn’t been here before and wanted to try a few different things. We tried the turkey, fatty brisket, regular sausage, beef rib, cream corn, and tea. The turkey was moist and well seasoned, cream corn was super tasty, and the tea was perfect. The fatty brisket was dry and under seasoned and the had bland bark. The texture of the sausage was super weird and wet. The biggest disappointment of all was the beef rib. We ordered the smallest portion available and it was $54. The bark was also under seasoned and it was both too fatty and had chunks that couldn’t even be chewed because they were too tough. We spent close to $80 before tip ($102 after tip) for 2 people and ended up picking up fast food on the way to the hotel because we were still hungry. We have paid a similar amount of money at Cooper’s in Austin and would go back there any day of the week for their beef ribs and brisket. We were super disappointed in our whole experience and would never go back. Save your money, go to Gristmill where you can get a top sirloin, side, and salad for less than $30.
Totally forgettable experience. Most memorable item was the $55 bill, what for? 2 slices of brisket 2 pork ribs Mac n cheese Coleslaw 1 sausage Brisket was too salty, and packing any other flavour. Ribs were fatty and bland Mac was average Coleslaw was the only dish I finished. Left disappointed, didn't live up to the hype. Leftover score 2/10
