This place is a hidden gem and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for some quality, authentic, delicious Italian food with amazing service and ginormous portions. We truly couldn’t believe how big each dish was and how generous their portions were. We started with calamari which was lightly fried and served with their amazing, flavorful marinara sauce. We both ordered meals from the specials list. I got the sea bass filet and my husband got the seafood pasta fra diavlo with loads of different fish including salmon, swordfish, shrimp, scallops and I can’t remember what else! My sea bass was HUGE with a whole lot of spinach on the side. For dessert we had a cappuccino, cannolis and creme brulee. It was all amazing!! Don’t judge the place by the outside/view from the street. I’ll be honest, it doesn’t look great driving up but just look past all that and go inside for an unforgettable dinner. For reference: We drove 2 hours from NJ to come to New Haven for the day. Our purpose was to try Sally’s/Franks but after trying Sally’s and being disappointed, we ended up here for some truly outstanding Italian food. We were beyond full but still went to Franks after 😏
Had dinner with the family here. Great food, drinks and service. Frank took such good care of us. Highly recommend!!! See you again!!
Monday night and an awesome dining experience here at Adriana's! The fresh chopped veggies and bread were delivered as soon as we were seated. The bread was out of this world and the veggie medley I'm olive oil and herbs was fresh and very tasty. Out appetizer was stuffed squash blossoms which were 10/10! Awesome cheeses and herbs stuffed inside of a fresh squash blossom that was perfectly fried! Add some of the side sauce with a bite of the squash blossom and you get near perfection. Entrees were spectacular. The ribeye was cooked to a perfect rare as ordered and the crust was awesome! Potatoes and veggies were very good too but the star was the ribeye. The best steak I have ever been served in the New Haven area in 38 years! The shrimp and clams fra diavolo over fettuccine special was spectacular 💯🎯‼️ Fresh pasta, insanely good sauce with beautiful little necks and snappy shrimp. The meal was served by an awesome waiter who was very attentive, friendly and accurate. This meal was a 10/10!!
Amazing menu that covers many areas of traditional Italian cooking. Excellent seafood and meat products, wine list, environment and service. For those not in the know, a must for a genuine restaurant experience with authentic cuisine.
One of New Haven's best Italian restaurants. The clams and white sauce were amazing. The beet salad was an abundance of beets and cheese. A side dish of spaghetti and oil with garlic was phenomenal. And the entree, there special salmon, was perfectly cooked and delicate - it melted in my mouth.
This place is awesome. Legit Italian food. The menu is great but the specials are even better. On a Tuesday lunch they had about twenty of them and we wanted all of them. The portions are absolutely ridiculous while maintaining a very high quality. The service is kind and attentive. I can't say enough nice things about this place and will definitely be back.
This Italian restaurant was what I always imagined them to be (from classic movies) and they never are, until Adriana's. The platonic ideal of Italian restaurants. The portions are big enough to feed two people, or even three. We will be back!!
A very authentic Italian dining. A romantic spot. It was around $40 each including our wine. The building, from the street, was not impressive but the entrance from the parking lot. The parking lot was nice and had security. We had a salad, a main dish and wine. They started with bread, olive oil and vegetables. The salad was next followed by large portion of the meat selection, with vegetables and mashed potatoes (which were amazing). I think it's a great place for dates.
The food is delicious and the service is really good. The portions are HUGE, we were very hungry and anyway packed half to go. Highly recommended place!
I can't sing the praises of this place enough! Our 1st time dining here & we were treated like old friends. We chose to dine outside as the inside was pretty packed. Our waiter, Carlo, made sure that we were comfortable & made wonderful suggestions for our dinner. Bread and refreshments were brought out immediately after seating & we were served very quickly afterward. Each plate was magnificently portioned and deliciously prepared. One plate of spaghetti & meatballs was enough to feed our 3 children & we brought home enough to feast on for at least 2days! We also ordered Orecchiette Rapa E Salsiccia (orecchiette with broccoli rabe and sausage), Bistecca Di Manzo Alla Griglia (marinated grilled rib-eye w/sauteed Vegetables & mashed potatoes) & a lovely dish of Parpadelle Alastico (parpadelle with lobster meat, artichoke hearts, touch of tomatoes in sherry cream sauce). Kids had sprite, hub had a shot of tequila ( that came highly recommended by Carlo but of course I've forgotten the name, may edit to add in the future lol) & I had Cupcake Moscato which was delicious. I'm no drink or food critic but I can't imagine going anywhere else for Italian fare! Now Idk if this has anything to do with the establishment but I can't neglect to mention that when it came time for the bill, Carlo informed us that another patron had paid for our meal including a tip!! We were floored & beyond grateful, my husband was even brought to tears. The gentleman who did so left before we could properly thank him. So, whereever you are kind sir, you made our family's night & Adriana's made new, lifelong customers!
Excellent service and menu. Portion sizes are massive so come hungry and/or be ready to leave with leftovers!
Wonderful mid week meal on a Thursday night. Food was amazing; service top-notch and the portions were tremendous! Great time! Went with hubby!!
I have nothing bad to say about this restaraunt. The menu is diverse and relatively unique. The wine selection seems like it would satisfy and impress most people. They have a large parking lot, they take reservations, and all the service was fantastic. Also in my opinion the portions here are beyond generous compared to basically any modern restaurants, I highly recommend Adriana's. Quantity & quality!
The food was amazing and the portions were large. Great service and casual atmosphere!
Awesome experience as always. This was the first time we tried their cheese wheel (not on their menu - call ahead to make sure it is available) and it was out of this world. They will do any pasta / sauce and prepare it in a wheel of parmasean. The heat melts the cheese onto the pasta and into the sauce. Absolutely amazing. We went with a penne a la vodka. Next time we might go for the carbonera. Our waiter, Igly, always impresses with his knowledge and service - even making sure my wine and water glasses were always full.
Some of the best Italian meals. It's like Arthur Ave only its New Haven. Bring you appetite because the portion are big and the plates are bigger. Not a bad item on the menu.
First time was a charm! Carlos is the man! Place is just right on!!! Food was off the charts. We heard for many years how great Adrian's is and we finally found out for sure. We will be back, again and again.
What an amazing meal and great experience here! The staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I love linguini and clams but this was on another level. Honestly one of the best meals I've ever had!
Great time! First time after hearing all about it for a long time. Living in New Haven it is a must! Very authentic Italian food, atmosphere, and service. Not somewhere I will go every weekend, only because it was $150 for 2. But don't let that stop you from trying!
As would be expected, Adriana's provided the friendly, warm Italian food experience you are looking for! Hospitality was second to none, attention to every detail, and catered to like family. My lamb dish was unbelievable! My wife had veil and two daughters had gnocchi and a Mediterranean chicken. Absolutely loved the espresso Martini! This place is a 100% win. Try it!
Huge portions and reasonable price. Food was delicious. Squash flowers were awesome as well.
The food is excellent and authentic. Prepare yourself to be stuffed silly!!! Everything was so good and HUGE!!!! But I couldn't stop eating!!!!! I got John Dory and I had it for dinner, shared it with my daughter, then had it for lunch The next day! Yes, I got THREE meals out of it. I did also order a side of pasta as it didn't come with any starch. Our group ordered meatballs for appetizers and it came with 5 meatballs! With a group of five, we ordered 3 apps, 2 bottle of wine and five entrees, it didn't even break $300 before tip. Reservation is recommended on weekends, for sure. Plenty of parking.
The best Italian food around! Great portions and great food. You will have leftovers.
Still excellent food with generous portions! All our seafood dishes were overflowing and delicious. Desert options were many and devious. Staff are very well trained as they are attentive but not intrusive!
We had our Christmas Party at Adriana's and the food and portions were outstanding and the service, and staff as a whole, were all top notch. Highly recommended.
We stopped here for an early dinner and we were not disappointed. The portions were huge, the quality really good and the waiter was funny and attentive. Faleminderit!
5-Star Review for Adriana’s I had an incredible dining experience at Adriana’s. From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere made me feel right at home. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering excellent recommendations. The food was absolutely delicious—each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. I especially loved the homemade pasta and veal chop , which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The portions were gigantic , and the ingredients tasted fresh and high-quality. Whether you’re looking for a cozy date night spot or a place to celebrate with friends, Adriana’s is a must-visit. Excellent place. I can’t wait to return!
Best restaurant in New Haven. Frank Tony and the team treat you like old friends. Food is impeccable
10 out of 10! Frank was our server and he was so attentive and gave great recommendations. To start, we had the baked oysters with crab, sausage & broccoli rabbe, steak carpaccio. All were delicious. Honestly this was the best meal I’ve had in awhile. The service is impeccable and the food is fresh, homemade and DELICIOUS.
Adriana’s is a true gem – the kind of restaurant where every dish feels crafted with love. The menu is full of rich, authentic Italian flavors, from perfectly cooked pasta to mouthwatering seafood and hearty meat dishes. Portions are generous, ingredients are fresh, and the presentation is elegant without being pretentious. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, ideal for family gatherings, romantic dinners, or simply enjoying great food with friends. The staff goes above and beyond, offering genuine hospitality that makes you feel right at home. If you’re looking for an authentic Italian dining experience with heart and soul, Adriana’s is the place to be.
We went back to Adriana's for a family birthday celebration and were surprised to find the menu had changed a bit but the food was good as usual and the portions very very generous. The service was slow and although the waitress was sweet and apologetic she forgot drinks and brought things we did not order. Overall we had a great time and although we did not get a happy birthday song from staff the people in our dining area made the evening great.
Excellent Italian restaurant in CT! There are a ton of specials to choose from, including burrata. The portions are massive so definitely be ready to share or have leftovers. For the price it's great, and drinks aren't that expensive either. Service is quick and friendly. Parking is plenty and free.
I tried the shrimp scampi and it was pretty good. Service was good and the food came out quickly and in such large portions.
The pasta portions are humongous! Food is good overall as is the service. One of their appetizers comes with a marinara sauce that's outstanding and fresh. Unfortunately, they don't have a spaghetti type dish that uses this same sauce for a main course. Really surprising to me because it's so good.
Very nice staff we sat on the bar side and our server had a great sense of humor. Everything we asked for she got without a problem. They have an extensive menu and a very large list of daily specials. The portions are family style. As you can see with one of the photos this was half of a regular order of the Orecchiette Rapa E Salsiccia (Pasta with sausage and broccoli rabe in a white wine sauce). The pasta was cooked just enough but I didn’t get much flavor from the sausage and the broccoli rabe was overcooked. The Burrata with prosciutto and tomato was extremely fresh. I ordered fresh basil on the side to add to it and the tomatoes were not ripe enough but the pesto was among the best I’ve had. The Tiramisu was amazing! Light, melt in your mouth just delicious.
Had a very delicious traditional cold seafood salad at Adriana’s and would highly recommend. The seafood was fresh, tender and delicious. It was as more than a meal. I would recommend splitting this appetizer with at least two to four people. As you can see it is a very healthy portion.
First time visiting this highly regarded New Haven eatery. First off- the Server was the most cordial & menu- knowledgeable of servers I have experienced. The whole family warmed up to him immediately. Great Job Frank! The portion sizes are ginormous at Adriana's. Love this! I had Gamberi Panceta with fresh sauted spinach. It was good, maybe serve some juice/ butter to re-moisten the tightly pancetta wrapped shrimp. After seeing everyone else's pasta dishes- My fault I should have ordered a diff entree. The Boston Creme Pie was delicious- more like a BC Cake (had a cheesecake textured bottom layer). Was not happy with the squash flowers appetizer- the flowers might as well have been left out because the thick fried batter shells and creamy cheese stuffing overpowered the delicate flowers. Possibly a much lighter batter on these beautiful flowers would be true to these special garden treats? In closing- if you haven't eaten at Adriana's- move it to the top of your list. If you have- go again, and again to explore another one of the vast menu's selections. Bon apetito!
The fish specials looked great but I got the creamy pappardelle with lobster- it was flavorful and we’ll enjoy the leftovers but there is not very much lobster meat. The Caesar salad was not good: it was basically a plate of cheese on top of white crunchy romaine. Husband enjoyed the meatball app. We had the pistachio cake which I found rather tasteless- should’ve gone for the limoncello. Coffees were very good. Service was excellent and I appreciated the linen, candle and reasonable noise level. I found the tables really jammed together (and no where to put coats).
The entree serving sizes were very large! Can be shared amongst two to three people. However, the food was mediocre. The pasta was extremely bland. The ribeye lacked salt and was fattier than anticipated (for a ribeye). We didn’t like the blossoms. We did, however, thoroughly enjoy the lamb, calamari, and fried mozzarella. Our server was very friendly and provided recommendations - she had great knowledge of the menu. She was very sharp and had an amazing attitude! The atmosphere was quiet as we visited on a Tuesday night and were the only party seated in our area. I wouldn’t return based on the food the day we visited. But I would recommend based on the serving sizes and the quality of service provided. There’s also plenty of parking in the free lot outside.
Well the staff were lovely. I explained it was my first time there and they made me feel welcomed. I noticed the yelp reviews had the tomahawk so I pointed and asked about it. Because it wasnt on the menu. Beliana, told me it was a special and if I would like it. I said yes! However it was $100.00 way higher than everything else on the menu they did give me! Then i tried the tomahawk, it was wel made but the mushrooms, tomahawk and mash-potatoes had no seasoning. That was the most disappointing part. I didnt even bother to finish it i got it in a box to go. Everything else was good, but come 100.00 with no seasoning.
The food was ok I feel it was very overpriced for the food and experience! We sat outside and it needs a lil tlc. There was a security guard outside...weird but ok!
Please beware the monstrous portion sizes
Not seeing what the appeal is here. Firmly middle of the road Italian. Bit bland. Massive portions, though. Definitely better Italian in the city.
I’ve been here before and always had a great experience. Today was definitely different. Our waiter dead not attentive at all. He gave vibes of Stereo typing. Not sure why. We are decent well dressed human beings. We had shoes on. He really never came to check on us but he checked on another table that wasn’t his. Go figure! Who knows what was going through his mind. One thing I will say is that I normally top very well in cash but he got the bare minimum that the industry says it should be and on my card so it will be taxed. Oh well next time pay attention!
Food is okay, portions are big. Our waiter mocked us for walking in with a mask, then didn't tell us the daily specials, even though I asked him directly for recommendations. I don’t care if you wear a mask or not, but why would you give customers a hard time for having one on? Later on, the table next to us got the daily special and when I asked the waiter about it, he shrugged and said, "you didn't ask for today's specials." The outside looked like an abandoned building, but maybe they just didn't want to open the security gates. Doesn't really matter to me, but kind of lazy for a place where I am having a $38 veal plate. I asked to speak with a manager before leaving, and the hostess pointed me to someone sitting around the corner. It was our waiter. I asked him directly if he was a manager, he said there was no manager working today. Overall, Olive Garden food is almost as good without the bad attitude.
We've eaten there several times before and always enjoyed. However, last night was a major disappointment. The food was lack luster. The escargot looked like my dog's food. The pasta was undercooked and the fish overcooked and dry. The waiter was almost non existent. Had to literally wave my arms to flag him down. He knew other patrons and gave them preferred treatment. Brought us the wrong check. The bathroom had no soap and the paper towel dispenser was jammed. I told the manager. The bathroom was also messy, with cleaning supplies laying out, and just looked unclean. Dinner was almost $200 for two people. If everything was great I would not mind. We know it's pricey. Can't say we will ever go back.
This was my favorite restaurant for years. Went Saturday night to celebrate a birthday. Sat at high top in bar and the waiter was not friendly and ignored us for a good hour after serving our cocktails. Never returned to tell us specials and kept catering to the only other table in the bar who seemed to be regular customers. Finally got his attention to order another cocktail and had to say wait can we hear the specials?? He seemed all evening to be doing us a favor taking care of us. And he obviously told other waitstaff he was annoyed with us for whatever reason God only knows because they kept looking over at us after he walked away We were very gracious to him and others the entire evening even though he was not. Our bill for 2 people was $204 and I left $40 tip that he did not deserve. He only smiled when he brought the bill to us. Hate that. Bad service and smile at the end when it’s pay the check time Only problem he didn’t know he would have gotten the extra $20 tip we gave to the nice man outside opening the door for us. That’s what happens when you are nice to people. Won’t be returning. Too many great restaurants in the area that they are happy to have us there. And he didn’t know I was a tv celebrity and could have received a big tip for being nice. You need waitstaff training when the economy is hurting. Was very quiet there for a Saturday night so pay attention to what’s wrong.
The meatballs were old, and very dry, they were almost tasting burnt . It being an Italian restaurant, I would think we’d get served FRESH MEATBALLS. AND ALSO. We were served boxed mashed potatoes. And I know my stuff. Not only coming from a family who has always eaten amazing food growing up in New Haven, Connecticut BUT coming from a family of CHEFS. We know old and boxed foods. For a “so called” upscale restaurant, I expected top notch Italien food. But hey, you can’t always get what you want. Please Adriana’s step up your game and serve EVERY CUSTOMER ALL FRESH FOODS. Because just throwing good sauce on top of old dry meatballs just won’t cut it. We didn’t have to wait for a table because we had reservations.
HANDS DOWN SOME OF THE BEST LOBSTER AND ARTICHOKE PASTA! HOWEVER, BE CONSCIOUS TO USE YOUR MOST NON-ETHNIC NAME WHEN ORDERING SO THE FOOD IS TOP TIER. DONT WANT TO BE HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED LIKE I WAS WHEN THEY REALIZED I WAS BLACK OVER THE PHONE USING MY OWN NAME INSTEAD OF THE FAKE ONE I USUALLY USE. (MARY INSTEAD OF HEAVEN). I WISHED I KNEW MY MONEY WAS NO GOOD THERE. I MISS THIS PLACE SOOOO BAD 😭😭😭😭 DROPPED $150+ LITERALLY EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
We’ve been to Adriana‘s restaurant many times. They serve a good variety of delicious food. Except for last night. I ordered the beet salad, which is usually good however, this time the beats were soft and pale as if they were canned . My husband ordered swordfish. It was a thinnest piece of swordfish we ever saw, and it was overcooked and dehydrated. I ordered the fillet and they brought me blackened salmon instead. The waiter apologized for the mistake, gave my husband a drink on the house and said the correct meal that I ordered would take some time. The fillet is stuffed with cheese and piñons nuts. But since they rushed it, it was undercooked, and when I cut into it, the blood from the steak was oozing into the stuffing. It was gross. Since we had already been there a long time waiting for my meal to come, I decided to take it home and warm it up the next day. The interior was still bloody. We regret not sending the food back. Very disappointing.
