Went for the restaurant week menu and enjoyed everything, especially the osso bucco. The service was very good

Perfect date night place, it's a affordable family owned fancy restaurant that you honestly can't go wrong going to. The food was Great!!! The appetizers alone made me full and wanting more. Those little risotto balls were so good I scrapped the plate...WITH the spooon don't cha worry. And the NY style calamari has now become my new favorite way of eating this dish thanks to this spot hahah. My honey got some noodle dish with lobster and I got a cease salad BUT I must say besides his dish the bread was probably what I enjoyed most for some reason hahah. Well be back since we live a block away and I can't wait until outdoor seating opens and it's warm out that will make it even better, inside is beautiful and welcoming. I love how everyone at the bar seemed so happy and gathered this all gave me that family feel. Two thumbs up yall!

It was my first time there as well as everyone at my table. We had an amazing experience with the food as well as service. My husband I will absolutely go back for a date night.

This is truly an elegant restaurant with a family feel. The owners are very personable and knew most of their customers. They went around the restaurant to greet everyone with a hello and or hug as well. The food... Omgeeee to die for. I ordered a steak with onions and mushrooms w/ a side of asparagus. I Omitted the potatoe. The steaks there are top quality Angus. I take my steaks medium well and it was soooooo tender. Kudos to this New Haven Gem!!!!! I DEFINITELY SUGGEST ANY TO GO HERE.

I love popping onto the outside patio with my dog. The staff is very nice. The pasta is always amazing and I l9ok forward to the specials. It doesn't have to be a special occasion to enjoy the Wooster St gem.

We recently had a birthday party at Tre for my father in law’s 80th! It has been a while since I’ve had dinner there. I was so impressed with it all. The valet was professional, Jason , the host, is warm and welcoming, Dave is the hidden gem bartender of New Haven, Kelly juggled a large party with crazy kids and handled it with grace, and of course Irma the one and only best support staff. Chef Alberto made the dinner I am still craving, John Dori (white fish with an oregano breadcrumb topping served with lemony shrimp risotto). Go to Tre, get the fish, and enjoy yourself. We love you guys thanks for a great night!

Great food, great service. We went on a Sunday night and it was relatively empty. The wine selection is endless, and the cocktail menu was great. The Calamari was delicious, as well as the mains of chicken / pasta. The star of the show was the apple pie with creme Brulé for dessert. 10/10. The server was very attentive and we did not feel rushed even after the restaurant closed.

Tre Scalini is a "Go To" for special occasions. They never disappoint. This was no different. Excellent food and service. Broccoli Raab, Lasagna, creme Brulee, Chianti. Ahhhh!

The people! The food, WOW! So good! We drive nearly an hour for this special place.

Was here for a company Christmas party. Great food and a super attentive staff.

Star of the show was Paccheri Portofini which was recommended by our server. It was tomato-y, not too saucy, tasted like summer on a plate. And the colossal rigatoni was fun to eat too! I also liked the Arturo’s Apple Cinnamon Tart we got for dessert. Will come back!

We used the smaller room for a family event and had the best experience. Catering was amazing to work with and planning was very smooth. The restaurant is gorgeous and the food was exceptional. The wait staff were such pros and I could relax and enjoy the party. I can’t recommend Tres Scalini enough for a party.

Came in the mid afternoon for an early dinner. The service was excellent and our server was personable and knowledgeable. The specials of the day all sounded decadent. The food, the drinks, and the desserts all were spectacular. Will definitely be coming back here in the future.

One of the best dinners we've ever had. We travel a decent amount and always seek out one of those quiet, delicious, savor every bite type of places. This is it! Their wine list is extensive and their menu is simple because everything out of the kitchen is exceptional. Husband got pork with risotto and I got the penne vodka. Go. Enjoy it. You will not be disappointed.

First: Delightful all around! Some of my family and I celebrated a birthday yesterday at Tre Scalini and it was fun, relaxing, and filled with the best food we could have hoped for. Joseph and all of the staff were extremely kind, helpful, and accommodating. I really can't say enough about how fabulous they were. Just to mention a few of the dishes: The NY Strip Steak was cooked to perfection and the porcini sauce was amazing. The clams casino was the best I can remember ever having, and the dishes with the house-made pasta were wonderful. One member of our group, himself a chef, had the chocolate lava cake for dessert and could not stop raving about it. I rarely post anything on line but was compelled to thank them for the delightful afternoon, and let everyone know how much we enjoyed our time there.

Probably my favorite Italian restaurant in New Haven, and the competition is extremely fierce! Great interior, diverse and wide-ranging menu. Osso Bucco is to die for. Fantastic wine selection. Superb wait staff. Can't wait to return.

My wife and I went here last night. The service was amazing. Our server , Robin was the best server I have ever had. She made the experience one to remember. And the food was delicious and great portions for the price. I recommend this place.

Restaurant week started, and we ate here last night for the first time. The servers were really lovely and made us feel like regulars right away. We ordered the creamy Polenta, fried burata (great red sauce), and added a nice super, fresh mediterranean salad - ala carte. For mains, we got Oso bucco (huge primal chunk of meat falling off the bone) with rich creamy risotto, and the pork chop with onion sausage and cherry peppers. Everything was excellent, and HUGE portions! Ate a little bit of the delicious apple crisp and cannoli with our specialty coffees, but so full..... took a lot home... I made a hash this morning with the leftovers, since we had so much left from the pork chop dish...It was so delicious!! Look forward to finishing the rest tonight, including that canoli. Will definitely go back and try other dishes.

Absolutely fantastic Italian restaurant! The food was fresh and full of flavor, the service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere felt cozy and welcoming. Every dish tasted homemade and authentic. We can’t wait to come back!

I was there for an event so no clue about prices. I had the Australian sea bass wrapped in the potato slices on a bed of escarole with a port wine reduction. Nicely done, served hot! Yay! Enjoy! PS... the Rasberry was nice. Careful, could feed three!

First time at this restaurant. Food and service was excellent. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. Definitely will be returning. We had 5:30 reservations, so therefore not wait.

Food was excellent and the overall value was superb. Except for forgetting to refill an iced tea the service was very good. Great location as well!

Wife and I went there for an early dinner yesterday. Dave the bartender was also our waiter. We loved the atmosphere and decor. We had the coconut shrimp appetizer one of the specials for the evening. I had the halibut dinner special and my wife had the scallops off the regular dinner menu. The appetizer and meals were excellent. We ended the meals with a raspberry mocha cappuccino, a white chocolate cappuccino and the apple crisp dessert. Everything was delicious. Dave was very knowledgeable about the meal offerings and his suggestions were on point. Our interactions with the staff were enjoyable. We definitely recommend this restaurant and will return here.

I have been coming to Tre Scalini for many years. It is one of my favorites Italian restaurants in New Haven. The food and service are consistently excellent. Nonetheless, I feel compelled to bring one issue to the attention of management that, if not corrected, will force me to dine elsewhere moving forward: the chairs are so uncomfortable that they adversely impact the entire dining experience. At a high end establishment where patrons pay a significant amount to for a quality experience, customers should be comfortable, not be supported by a thin layer of wicker and hard wood that digs into people's backs. As much as I have always loved Tre Scalini, there are many great Italian restaurants in New Haven with comfortable seats. This is easily correctable; it is time to change these abominable chairs. When adequate seating replaces the medieval torture devices that have been there for years, I will happily return to Tre Scalini. Thank you for your consideration.

This is the #141st restaurant I have dined at in New Haven. After I sat down a waitress served bread. There were a few groups seated around me, while I was there solo. The waitress in that area clearly spent more time and effort in serving those groups, as she would get more tip from the larger groups. I waited for 15 minutes reading the menu and almost wanted to give up, before an old guy finally noticed me and apologize. I got an Arreganata and the food was actually good, but I still feel angry for the service.

I haven't been at Tre Scalini for a while, and I used to like it, and that's why I choose to bring my family for a special day out. I wish to have a great Italian meal, but unfortunately, it was far from that. First, the escarole and beans soup were thick and red with tomatoes with absolutely no flavor. The gnocchi were in an odd shape and super gummy, sausage flavor also questionable. At the end of the day, drinks and desserts were so much better than our dinner.

It was OK, but I’ve had better. There were some basic errors that will have a few Nona’s not happy. I had the veal Guisseppe (My grandfathers name) and my wife had the chicken Scarp. Please note she was not in a sharing mood so I can only comment on my dish. So…here we go. The dish was not presented in a very appetizing way, see the picture. They used jarred peppers, really what’s wrong with fresh ones? Also, the alcohol from the wine wasn’t cooked off properly. My wife said her dish was lovely. Anyway, probably won’t be back anytime soon.

Visited recently and it was just ok. Service was great and prices average for the area. Food just wasnt special in any way. Portions were huge but I would prefer excellent food that comes in portions without take away leftovers. Every person in the place leaves with a bag of left overs. Focus on quality and memorable meals and you dont need to give each guest 3 pounds to keep them coming.

Unfortunately inconsistent. We order takeout/uber eats every now and then and in the past have enjoyed the food. Our delivery order tonight was horrible. Bolgenase tasted off but was the best of what we ordered. The chicken carbonara was like bad Alfredo. Which is sad because that was a favorite last time. Fried mozzarella so so. Tiramisu was DRY. The lady fingers were not soaked. How do you have dry tiramisu. Cannoli tasted ok but filling was very thin even after cooling. Also packed with hot food so made even worse.

Thanksgiving dinner, soup was good , not out of this world to brag about.salad was just a pear salad with Bree and toasted pecan or should I say burnt pecans. No dressing though they said it was a light vinaigrette. Turkey was dry and nasty pieces with skin on it and nerve and bones, no cranberry sauce must of forgot to give me mine.The pie apple crumb tart? Burnt black on the bottom could not eat at all . 59.95 on the menu they give you ,on line said 49.95 per person highly recommend trying somewhere else

Ordered them on ubereats. My husband will literally eat anything, he's a garbage disposal. I couldn't stand the mozzarella fritta, made me sick. Never seen orange mozzarella first of all. Had him try it, he couldn't stand it either, very bad taste, tasted off. Cannoli was soggy, arancini was mushy like both were sitting out for a while. I only live 15min away, it was not the drive.

Update: Joe, I never said anything about a special menu. You did have specials that night, which we ordered and in my opinion, the price for them was not justified. Nowhere in my review did I say that the price was not as advertised. You did issue us a refund. The problem is that the final charge included a $50 tip that was added WITHOUT our authorization. We left a cash tip as I said in my original review but the final charge on the credit card reflected a different amount. I originally didn't want to leave a bad review at all, but I want people to be aware. We have been coming to Tre Scalini for the past 4 years, however, our last experience was subpar. My husband, my mom, and I went for an NYE dinner. The service was good, and the food was just okay (overpriced, I understand it was New Year's, but quality vs price did not match up). The biggest issue we had was when after three days we realized we were charged an extra $50 tip with our dinner (we left a cash tip)... The owner's response was- "oh yeah sorry, you'll get refunded". While I understand that mistakes can happen, the complete disregard for this issue is unacceptable and unfortunately, we will not be returning.

Took a family guest at 5 pm. Our waitress was nonexistent after initial drinks/kid’s noodles. We were the first of 3 families to sit, but were served egregiously late at 1 hour, 20 minutes later (only after constant contact with said waitress). Waitress was constant smiles but no delivery. Once she realized we were leaving, she rushed our food through…so my eggplant tasted like burnt egg. I contacted the manager, Joe, who said he’d get back to me….crickets. You’ll have better luck, service and food at Olive Garden.

It was my other half’s birthday and I had been telling him how amazing this place is based on my previous visits. The evening started off great — our server was friendly and attentive — but once the Restaurant Week rush hit, things went downhill. We ordered our appetizers and drinks, which came out promptly, and also placed our main course order at the same time. After finishing our appetizers, the table was cleared, but then we waited almost an hour for our entrees. I completely understand that it was a busy night, but several tables seated after us received their meals before we did, and no one checked in with us during that wait. After nearly an hour, I had to flag down our server to ask about our food. She went to check and returned a few minutes later. I truly don’t like leaving negative reviews, but this was disappointing — especially since I had been looking forward to giving him the same great experience I’ve had here before. I do appreciate that the server took our drinks off the bill, which was thoughtful, but overall, the long wait and lack of attention made the evening less enjoyable than I’d hoped.
