This is another one of my favorite brunch spots the eggs Benny here gets me everytime it’s all in the sauce. Take me to church honey. The mimosas are delicious but they could be a little lighter on the oj and a little more careless with the champagne if you know what I mean lol. But overall experience is a 10 it’s lovely you should definitely check this place out it’s a can’t miss
My brother was visiting this weekend from Connecticut with friends and this was a high point of the adventure. We got pretty much every appetizer and tasted them some of the best were the cheese plate and calamari because they were unexpectedly delicious. I had the scallops which were fresh and incredibly good. The entire staff were welcoming and their house cocktails we're outstanding. I really enjoyed this 5 star experience in an old church! Hope to return soon 🥰
Such a great place to eat, drink, and congregate (as their sign says.) What a wonderful gem this place is! The food, SPECTACULAR.. The drinks, SPECTACULAR.. The ambiance, 🤩SPECTACULAR😍.. The service, also SPECTACULAR 👌🏽🙌🏽 100/100. IT'S A MUST SEE! Happy Hour is 4-6. Grab a drink and a bite at the bar, or cozy up to a table.. Either way, you WON'T be disappointed 🤗
Great vibe, amazing cocktails, very friendly staff. They’ve done an excellent job combining the architecture and concept of a community and making it a restaurant. Great attention to detail when it comes to food, brand, and concept. Vast cocktail menu too. Very pleased we discovered this place!
We started out with cocktails: a Pink Lady, an Old Fashioned and the Tipping Point. The cheese board was both beautiful and delicious, and included domestic and imported cheeses, jams, pecans and fresh berries. Instead of ordering entrees, we decided to try several of their starter dishes because so many looked so appetizing. We had the Carrot Ginger Bisque with coconut milk, harissa, coriander and cilantro as well as the Roasted Cauliflower with mint, capers and a roasted red pepper, pecan, almond and garlic puree. We also shared the lemongrass, ginger, 5 spice shrimp broth Mussels and got a side order of Brussels sprouts, because ya gotta try the Brussels sprouts. We were extremely happy with everything we ordered as well as our server, Briona, who was both helpful and delightful. Looking forward to sharing Vessel with more friends.
We tried Vessel NOLA at the recommendation of one of the Hotel Monteleone bartenders. I'm so glad we followed up on his suggestion! We made reservations ahead of time. It was a beautiful evening and the sun shining through the stained glass windows was just beautiful. Food and drinks were delicious and we enjoyed great service. We were not disappointed!
WHAT A PLACE! GREAT FOOD! I had the Lamb and Beef burger. That was the best burger I had all week in NOLA. My wife had the Brussel Sprouts and The "Our Benedict", pictured here. Mimosas always hits the spot. We loved the setting. Also....Withing walking distance after you eat your Brunch is a nice Irish pub Called McCools I believe. Check it out as well for a nice whiskey or an afternoon football game.
Nola never disappoints when it comes to food. I miss bottomless in Nola and BR! I came here with a friend on a Sunday. This was our first time coming to Vessel. We made reservations, which are highly recommended. Although Vessel isn't big, they had social distancing in the establishment. Our server and food were great! She was very attentive. If you're the picture type, they have a nice backdrop of where the bar is or even outside the establishment.
I went to Vessel recently on what may have been the worst date of my life. Listen, when someone starts pulling up Instagram conspiracy theories run. Thanks to the powers that be for a wonderful bartender. There’s something about sunset in Vessel. The lighting is perfect and if you enjoy craft cocktails this place is a must!!!
In NOLA for a girls birthday weekend and came here last night for dinner and it was amazing! Our server was so kind and fun, the food was delicious and they even gave my best friend and I a crème brûlée + the staff sang us happy birthday. The atmosphere was amazing and it’s a gorgeous restaurant. Thanks Vessel staff 🥰
Vessel is absolutely amazing for the food, the atmosphere, the staff, for everything!!! We eloped to New Orleans with 20 friends had a very hard time finding a venue for lunch after the ceremony. Every place that we called wanted to make us choose a set menu, but for many in our group this was a 1st trip and I wanted them to eat what they wanted! The other restaurants also wanted large deposits in case our group ended up smaller, and since it was an elopement we didn't have a final guest list till a few days before the day. Vessel worked with us on every point. They accommodated our large number easily and only required 48 hrs confirmation on the exact number. They allowed people to order what they wanted! And EVERYONE loved their meals! The staff was amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable and very patient with the out of towners. We took a million pictures and they were ok with us using their gorgeous location. AND THE FOOD WAS AMAZING!!!! Some of the best I have had in New Orleans. I am already planning a one year anniversary back there :)
We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary here. Our server, David, was so friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is located inside a 1914 church. The food was delicious. We ordered the blackened gulf fish, shrimp and grits, brown butter fries, and Brussel sprouts. The shrimp and grits were delicious! We had a lovely bottle of Chardonnay with our meal and ended with a crème brûlée.
Had brunch on our 6month anniversary- great venue (converted church) beautifully decorated. Wife had the breakfast Tartine and I had shrimp and grits to go with the Bloody Mary and baileys and coffee. Both meals were done well and tasted great. The grits were probably some of the best I’ve had and shrimp were plump and tender. Service was pretty good and the staff super friendly- especially when they called me 5 min after I left to come back for my credit card :-)
Last time I was here it was Christians, a previous church. We had brunch. The food was very good also the service was excellent. It’s handicap accessible with parking on the side. We did not have reservations and were seated immediately. The vegetable frittata was delicious. The only problem it was thin and not filling. I should have gotten sides or app with it.
We had the best tasting food and most fantastic service. It was a great setting. Folks are mindful of the covid restrictions, but handled it so nicely. The Pimm's Cup was exactly as I dreamed it. The waffles were magic and the brussel sprouts could have been a meal in and of themselves!! I'll be back.
New favorite local restaurant! The appetizers and entrees were absolutely delicious. Lots of different cocktails in addition to the wine and spirits list. Our server was helpful and friendly, even offered to take a photo of us for my grandmother’s birthday dinner. Plenty of street parking and a comfortable neighborhood. We will definitely be back!
We had a delicious brunch today! We arrived around 1p or so for our 1:15 reservation and were promptly seated. The building is beautiful and welcoming. I loved the way the sun came through the yellowish tinted windows. It enhanced the warm vibe. Admittedly, I was nervous having read some great and some not so great reviews, but I wanted to see this building! Our experience was fabulous. Our waitress, Lizzy (hopefully spelled correctly), was friendly and helpful. We brunched on the blueberry waffles, crawfish croquettes, biscuits, and Mediterranean burgers. We also enjoyed their Milk Punch cocktail, each dish and drink we ordered was freshly prepared and tasty! Very happy we had the opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere and food. We'll be back when we return to NOLA for a visit.
I had the very best time here. The bartenders were super inviting and kind and made it feel like home. I love a church converted into a bar - I think this should happen to all old church buildings. The food is a little pricey but honestly so worth it. The ambiance combined with the great service, with the incredible (holy) spirits, I definitely felt like this was my version of heaven. Planning to check out brunch! I had the cheese board, crepe brûlée and a glass of Bourbon. Incredible. Update: went back for brunch and it’s also incredible! Had the huge waffle, delicious mimosa, amazing coffee, and yummy bacon!
I brought my husband here for a spontaneous, early date night. The venue is beautiful! An old church converted into a bar/restaurant. The stain glass gives a great ambience if you go at a good hour. The bartended was very knowledgeable and told us some fun stories. Great happy hour options/cocktails. We planned on eating elsewhere that evening but couldn’t say no to some of the menu items we saw. Everything was great. Side note: this place is a pretty popular venue for bachelorettes given the old church architecture so if you’re coming on a weekend there is a good chance there could be a drunk bridal party there pregaming for the evening lol.
My friends and I were in town for Taylor Swift and came here for brunch on Sunday. The restaurant is so pretty and had the perfect vibe for a patio brunch. I ordered the specialty cocktail and a mimosa, smoked fish dip and the classic eggs Benedict. All my food was really yummy. Someone in our party had a problem with her order and they fixed it quickly. I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in town.
Went to this place during the Taylor Swift weekend and besides the concert itself, this is the only thing I talked about the whole weekend. Their swiftie cocktail was delicious, the staff was pleasant and graceful and took really good care of us, the food was FANTASTIC (I still dream about the charcuterie board). And as a crème brûlée connoisseur I can tell theirs is in my top 3. Cant wait to be back in NOLA just so i can go to Vessel again!!
This place has such a cool atmosphere and vibe together with incredible food and service. We had the cheese board as an appetizer, and the market fish, burger, and fries as mains. The burger was exceptional and at the top of my beef-loving husband's all-time favorite burgers list. Plus, there's a cocktail for everyone. Seriously, go here. Update July 2022: The menu changed a bit and they didn't have the burger, all the other dishes were still very good! The tiramisu had no espresso liqueur so it was a bit dry, everything else exceeded expectations.
Our experience at the Vessel was beyond exceptional. We had a party of 30 and several of us were accommodated with dietary restrictions. Our servers were very attentive, friendly and were very educated on the menu selections. The food was phenomenal and the atmosphere was unique. I highly recommend The Vessel for your most memorable New Orleans dining experience.
This was our first time here. We were celebrating my birthday. The food was delicious and the service was great. We had Ben as our waiter and he was so great. Knowledgeable and on top of it. We recommend the shrimp cakes, crab dip, Korean bbq pork belly and the creme brulee. We will definitely go back here the next time we are in town!
Beautiful atmosphere. We were surprised to see not so many diners when we arrived but our reservation was late. The food was delicious, and the service was great. Ordered a cocktail and mocktail from Donna who clearly is a trained mixologist, an excellent drink with just the right amount of everything. My filet was cooked to perfection, my husband ordered the salmon which was also very good. We both cleaned our plates.
Amazing place, fashioned out of an old church with great history and essence of haunting! Delicious bar bevies and brunch food, especially the Benedict. Even better that the kitchen substituted chicken for ham on my bennies. Felt a presence in the restroom, including unexplained noises from within. . Spooky and delicious, highly recommend!
We had breakfast, and everything was truly decadent! We had the cheese plate, the classic breakfast of eggs, bacon, a biscuit and grits, the chicken sandwich with pickles and remoulade sauce, and the chicken and waffles. We ordered 2 delicious drinks. The service was prompt, friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. Aside from the food, the most impressive aspect was the location. This restaurant is located inside a repurposed church. It was absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend you make a reservation next time you're in NOLA.
We celebrated our 10-year anniversary dinner at Vessel NOLA and it was absolutely perfect. The space itself is stunning—such a unique and beautiful atmosphere. The manager & staff went above and beyond to make the evening special. They were so accommodating, helpful, and kind. The entire staff was professional, attentive, and welcoming. And the food? Absolutely delicious from start to finish! We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate such a meaningful milestone. Highly recommend!
This place was our last stop on our way out of New Orleans and it will be one of our most memorable. The building and ambiance were great for appreciating golden hour as the afternoon light filtered in. The gin cocktails by Cami were lovely and balanced. We had the chicken and blackened fish which was also cooked well and not dry at all. 10/10 recommend
My husband surprised me for our wedding anniversary coming here, I’d been wanting to come here. I loved everything about it, the atmosphere, drinks, and our waiter. We had the crab au gratin for an appetizer, I had the filet mignon, my husband the shrimp and grits, had to order the blackened butter fries too!! Everything was cooked to perfection and had the perfect amount of flavor. Our waiter was attentive and amazing. I had the tipping point drink and mistakes were made drink, my husband had an old fashioned, the drinks were on point! I couldn’t have asked for a better dinner to celebrate our anniversary. ❤️
Food was great came out hot and correct. Drinks were delicious. I described the noise level as quiet and easy to talk but we were the first reservation I believe (nobody else was there).
SO SO SO SO GOOD! Can’t recommend this place enough. It is a bit more expensive but the food, drinks, and atmosphere are worth it. Went here for a date night and it was amazing. The staff is super nice and our server was very attentive. Not many vegan options but there are a couple vegetarian options so definitely keep that in mind.
Looking for the perfect spot for your next date night? Tonight, my wife and I treated ourselves to a much-needed evening out at Vessel Nola, and I can’t recommend it enough! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance set the mood just right. The drinks were expertly crafted, every dish exceeded our expectations, and the service was truly outstanding—attentive without being intrusive. If you want a memorable dining experience that checks all the boxes, Vessel Nola is absolutely worth a visit. Don’t just take my word for it—plan your own night out there soon!
Just came from one of the best dinners! From the service to the atmosphere to the food… 10’s across the board! Everything we ordered was just fantastic. It’s completely worth a special night out. Don’t sleep on this restaurant!
Pasar una noche tranquilo en ambiente de adultos pero muy relax y respetable.
Excelente.!!
We booked this restaurant for my friends 22nd birthday. The food was pretty good but I tell you.. the service was AMAZING!!! We had the best server (Ben) and the bartender was absolutely amazing as well. Ben made us feel at home and was so nice towards our party. The restaurant was kinda empty so they let us take photos and admire the atmosphere. The crab au gratin dip was phenomenal and I highly recommend it. Eating at this establishment was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Vessel you have a great staff on your hands!
Always an amazing experience at Vessel! Tonight I had the Duck Empanadas and they were delicious. Amazing sauce accompanied them. Kami was awesome behind the bar and made perfect drinks. I will continue to come back!
I’ve visited Vessel with my wife for years. Always an amazing and unforgettable experience. As of my most recent visit, the customer service from the bartender/server was professional and made the dining experience. The food is consistently delicious. Vessel serves upscale food without insane prices. Obviously, they are known for their interior ambiance but they excel on all levels as a restaurant. One of the most notable dining experiences in the city.
Super cool ambience. In any other city this place would be packed all day every day. The menu leaves a good bit to be desired. It's super basic. They could benefit from a real chef instead of line cooks. Daily specials would go a long way too. The service is great, and the drinks are very good.
Great brunch spot. The ambience is the highlight of this place. Food is also good but don't expect a huge list of options (which is not a bad thing). I had the "our benedict" and it tasted creamy and delicious. The blueberry waffles were also tasty (the portion size for the waffles is huge, 2 could easily share). 4 stars only because it took a while to get our food.
The place and ambience is great, However when I visited they were sold out of a lot of menu items from the night before. Service was also pretty slow, and took forever for someone to even bring us water. However my friends really enjoyed their meals. But I don’t think i would be back. Edit: This was a few months ago in June, not recently. Thank you for your reply, hope all the staff is safe!
Great service and ambience. An old church with a thick yellow atmosphere inside due to the stained glass windows - I found it lovely to have brunch in. The servers were prompt and very nice, we even got a free dessert because our food was served 5 minutes later than they thought was appropriate. Unfortunately, the food was lackluster. The Brussels sprouts were fried to perfection, but had absolutely no flavor apart from their natural green. The eggs Benedict were plated beautifully, but packed absolutely no punch. Some exceptions that tasted great: the Mexican street corn, the blueberry waffle
Cocktails in a former church? If you’re looking for a unique restaurant and bar, this is it. Although we visited at a weird dinner hour (4:30 pm) the experience was pleasant. A pricey drink called “The Baroness “ instantly put us in high spirits. The scallop risotto and the filet mignon were delicious. The service was friendly and attentive. This could be a good venue for groups or events.
The atmosphere was unique and charming—being in an old church gave it such a quaint, memorable vibe. The drinks were fantastic, and we started with the pork belly appetizer, which was absolutely delicious. For entrees, we had the blackened redfish and the soft shell crab—both were flavorful. Service was great! The only downside was it was rather warm inside.
3 stars for the excellent service, otherwise nothing much special about this place as the food got no seasoning, i asked for something vegetarian and ended up getting rissotto with Scallops so had to send it back and it came back asap i do not know if they just removed scallops from the top and sent it back. Menu is too small like total 8-10 items on menu includes appetizer and main course. They sat us outside which was covered with some clothes and it was cold open area but covered. We were the only ones there inside was totally packed …i won’t prefer to go again as there is hardly anything to eat or enjoy except cocktails.
We had a reservation for 1pm. We got there right before 1pm. The place is amazing. Definitely an experience. The servers were all very polite, but we ended up having 2 of them because one was overwhelmed. It was very busy, but it took quiet a while to get our food. The side of biscuits and gravy was very good but more non-traditional. I wanted to love the waffles so much, but was so disappointed. There is nothing in between each waffle and they were just ok. They were served with a very minimal amount of syrup. The experience was amazing, and maybe I will try it again for dinner instead.
I'd like to give me than 3 stars simply because the atmosphere and uniqueness of VESSEL. Unfortunately, the service and food was subpar. We recognize they've had turnover and brought on a new sous chef, and changed up the menu. That's all good but they were out of a lot of main foods i.e. chicken, scallops, pork chops. Ended up with just the market fish and shrimp & grits to choose from. Had to fill up on appetizers. Service was incredibly slow. Food came out cold and underdeveloped. Lentils tasted like undercooked beans. Only got one water and it wasn't refilled in the 2 hours we were there. I'd ask - but the waiter never came back with it. I'm sure this place is good when firing on all cylinders - but for our visit, it was frustrating and a let down.
High expectations from previous reviews and walking up to an interesting building (old church) and residential neighborhood. First, the service and two servers, were terrific - attentive and personable. The two cocktails were interesting and tasty (Old Fashioned and "Tipping Point" vodka, elderflower, orange liqueur and sparkling rose). Our shared appetizer was an excellent pork belly with fried green tomatoes. But then, the night fell apart with the two mains: pork porterhouse, and scallops with risotto. The super thick pork was, unfortunately, over cooked and tough - after sawing through several bites, I left the last 50% on the plate. The three scallops were served on flavorless risotto, and rubbery, so we ate 2 and left one with the balance of risotto. The server admitted that, "... the kitchen was very busy so may have not got it right." We the thought to take refuge in desert and had a slice of chocolate / icecream cake, but again, unfortunately, it too was very pedestrian and without flavor. The bill, with 2 cocktails and two glasses of wine, was $160 ($200 with tip). An interesting location and nice interior with good service, but, disharteningly disappointing food.
If I were reviewing on atmosphere and ambience alone, it would easily be five stars. It is A GORGEOUS PLACE. I loved the beauty of the space. A friend and I went and were the first tables to sit down. There were three tables the entire time we were there. The standouts meal wise were cocktails and the shrimp with Mexican street corn. The other dishes were OK, not great. Eggs on the Benedict were over poached, biscuit dry. My burger was overcooked. The fries were delicious which was good because it took the quarters of the meal in to get the ketchup that was asked for twice. We waited a good while for our check and the waitress was definitely more interested in talking to the host than being attentive to the tables. I would absolutely return for cocktails. At their price point, there are better choices for meals in New Orleans. And no, I don't eat at Applebee's.
Beautiful venue with a nice outdoor dining area. Service is good. Food portions are good but not 100 pct consistent. Some things are more substantial than others. My Mexican salad was on the small side, shrimp were ok but not awesome. Brown butter fries were interesting but a little too greasy. Their breakfast choices are good, some things are basic, others are fancy. Their grits were "ok".. more salty than anything. Worth checking out.
Food was very delicious. Seafood pasta was mwah mwah mwah. Service pissed us off. Our server was so nice and the general manager even came over to say hello! However. I had made an inside reservation for 2 people for 5:30. The parade on bourbon street had just started and we got stuck so we arrived 20 min late at 5:50. The entire restaurant was empty at this point. The hostess told us they had overbooked the main room and we could either sit outside or at the bar. Disappointed, as the inside is what made us come here (as I’m sure is the appeal to others) we decided on going outside because it had stopped raining. We were the only ones out there for our 45 minute dinner. When we came back inside, the restaurant was half empty. I mean come on people what is that about. Like I get it we were late but the restaurant is empty and is still half empty even after we finished our entire dining experience. So yeah seafood pasta was probably one of the best I’ve had but these people kinda weird. Pls don’t curse me ok bye
Cool location and layout but this is a place to avoid. Staff has a serious attitude problem, especially the Asian bartender. Three people working the bar and it was not busy, but trying to make any small talk about the bar itself or drink recommendations resulted in a rude, nose-in-the-air response. I asked if he had any ideas on a drink made with mezcal to which he disappeared without asking me and returned with a drink that was too sweet and he charged me the maximum rate ($14) for the drink. The other drinks were fine but the utter lack of friendliness ruined this place as a whole.
I recently dined at a restaurant with a unique twist – it’s housed in a beautifully converted church, which created a delightful atmosphere. Our waitress was exceptionally pleasant and attentive, adding to the overall positive ambiance. I ordered the Pink Lady cocktail, expecting a blend of flavors with a hint of egg white froth. Instead, it was mostly liquor with a faint touch of raspberry, similar to my girlfriend's drink, which also seemed to be more about the alcohol than the flavor. However, the real letdown was the food. I ordered the chicken dish, which looked promising but turned out to be a disappointment. The rice was mushy and flavorless, and the chicken was overcooked and dry, reminiscent of a Walmart frozen chicken breast. Given the $27 price, we decided to mention it to our waitress, who kindly took it back to the kitchen. What followed was rather concerning: the manager approached us and, despite being polite, explained that they couldn’t cook the chicken any less or it would be raw. This statement was quite alarming and suggested a lack of basic culinary skills in the kitchen. The inability to properly cook chicken is a fundamental issue that no high-end restaurant should face. My girlfriend's shrimp and grits were similarly disappointing, with the shrimp tasting stale and the grits lacking any seasoning. The dishes felt like they were crafted by amateurs, rather than skilled chefs. While the setting and service were commendable, the kitchen’s inability to deliver quality food was a significant drawback. The explanation that chicken can’t be cooked less without being raw is a startling indication of the kitchen’s shortcomings. I hope they can address these issues to match the potential of their unique and charming venue. Until then, I would not recommend.
It was my first time dining here and I won’t be back. The air conditioner was out so it was 85 degrees in here. I had Brussels sprouts and the Mexican street corn hush puppies as appetizers. Should’ve listened when the waiter said not to do the Mexican street corn hush puppies. I would not recommend. I had the shrimp and grits and it was good. My friend had the steak and potatoes and idk what was up with the steak but it tasted horrible. She sent it back and when it came back, it still tasted horribly. She called the manager over and told him and he instantly told her, “We tasted the first steak and nothing was wrong with it,” with the worst attitude. So he said, “I’ll just take it off!” And stormed off. With that kinda service, we won’t be back. Mind you after the first steak he sent champagne as an apology but he came back with a bad attitude when she said the steak still was bad. Then a gnat was flying around and landed in her food!
I made reservations for 10:30pm on New Year’s for a party of two for their New Year’s Eve special dinner that is supposed to last 1hr 30min..called in advance to sit at bar. Great we get there we sit at the bar the bartender behind the bar asks if we are just drinking we say no we plan to do their New Year’s Eve dinner for $125 a person 4 course meal with a glass of champagne a person..we are at now 11:11pm and have been served all 4 courses in less than an hr we arrived at 10:26.. we didn’t even eat the entree and was asked if the plates could be removed..we did get a to go box and dessert is in front of us!!
My boyfriend and I came to Vessel for date night and were really impressed with the aesthetics of the space—beautifully designed, intimate, and perfect for a night out. The food absolutely lived up to the hype; everything we ordered was well-prepared and delicious. Unfortunately, the experience was dampened by the bar staff. The interactions felt cold and unwelcoming, with very poor interpersonal skills, which was surprising given the otherwise elevated atmosphere of the restaurant. Great food and ambiance, but the service at the bar left a lot to be desired. With friendlier, more engaging staff, this place could truly be a standout in Mid-City.
Food was OK, service was polite and professional but poorly executed. Food for our table came out at odd times. My wife's food was way later than the rest of our party. Our server blamed the kitchen and claimed they were making it but it came out ice cold. My assumption is the kitchen made it when they were supposed to and the server missed it because she doesn't pay attention to customers. Which seemed to be the case. We asked for the cold meal to be removed from the bill and then we were over charged. Id say overall, place is poorly managed.
I found the overall experience to be very 'meh'. It would be what I would expect from a chain restaurant, not a place that demands the prices Vessel does. I don't see myself going back when places like Couchon, Compere Lapin, and Jaques-Imos share the same space. The cocktails were great and every one enjoyed their drinks. The food that was cooked properly ranged from good to OK. My porterhouse chop was cooked well instead of medium. It was dry and chewy. The haystack potatoes were greasy and mushy and the fig sauce was a bit of an overly sweet mess. The manager brought out some very tasty brussel sprouts while I was waiting for a medium chop. The kitchen overcooked the replacement chop and it never made it to the table. By the time I received the second replacement meal of duck empanadas I was more annoyed than hungry because everyone else was finished with their meal. They were quite tasty though. My wife's salmon was cooked rare instead of the medium she ordered - which I thought was a better temp for salmon anyway but still not what she ordered. It was pretty good. Our companions were very happy with the softshell crab pasta and the blackened gulf fish was also well received. Our waiter was very nice and on point in nearly all aspects. I did have to ask for my empty water glass to be filled twice. A water glass should never be allowed to approach empty. The atmosphere was really nice. The old church makes for a beautiful presentation. The only knock was that the manager adjusted the lights for a significant amount of time trying to get the levels where he wanted them. The lights went from I have to squint bright to I can't see my food dark several times before settling. It was a relatively short annoyance but it was very annoying to have the lights jumping around.
I never in my life thought I could be writing a review so bad on a restaurant in my city. Good god this food is awful.. ah our server was amazing and sweet.. we started with a blood Mary and an espresso martini.. the espresso martini was basically what tasted like warm syrup in a glass. Completely undrinkable. The Bloody Mary was meh with no actual seasoning in it or vodka. We got a shrimp cake for an appetizer. It was drowned in a lemon sauce and I don't think there was any actual shrimp in it. We saw maybe one teeny piece. It said it came with chefs spring mix.. THERE was ONE piece of lettuce ...Then came entrees !! We both got the classic Benedict and all I can say is If you order this bring alllllll the seasonings you own with you. The chive biscuit is so dry you'll probably choke on it, the ham is basic deli meat and the hollandaise.. hmm every hollandaise on the planet would be upset that they call this random yellow, unflavored sauce by the same name. Not a drop of salt or pepper in it. My best friend and I basically laughed at this point. Highlight of the meal? A refreshing amazing cold Diet Coke . They give you the can so it's nice. The restaurant is beautiful and nice and the level of music is great. But to be a restaurant the food or drinks should be good. This is a great location who just serves horrible dishes, trash drinks but it's cute to look at. After spending $100 weeks would have been better of getting a sausage burrito from McDonald's.
This place came highly recommended, and I left highly disappointed. The outside was pretty, and the inside (see photo) was interesting. The wait staff kept my water full, and they were happy to take our order. This is where things started going bad, I ordered an adult beverage... What was delivered wouldn't fill a shot glass. Quite literally didn't need to raise the glass a second time, the beverage was gone in one swallow. Which would have been fine if it were happy hour and the drinks are cheap (not the case) I paid full price for a sip. Then my blackened fish came out, again nothing good to write about, small portion, no flavor... I left feeling cheated and robbed!! We spent $75 per person for small portions of bad food, in a loud environment. Wouldn't return ever.
I came across a reel on Instagram and I have had a few friends eat here and say nothing but good things, however that was not my experience last night. My fiance is an internationally trained chef and has worked in a Michelin star restaurant in San Francisco, so he loves trying new places, as do I and we never like to eat at the same place twice, especially with all of the food options in New Orleans and every date night we choose a new place, most of the time based off reviews of others on our Instagram. If I were to rate this place based on looks alone, the setting is absolutely beautiful. Our hostess, she was amazing. We had set a reservation for 7:30pm, we managed to get there 30 minutes earlier than anticipated and she gladly welcomed us and sat us right away. Things were off to a good start. They even had water on the table before the hostess walked away after explaining the "Holy Bible" (drink menu) but that is where the great service ended. Now please keep in mind, the restaurant was not busy. At best, I counted 30 people upon first glance and it would remain at about those numbers. One bartender, two servers and one new server in training and what looked like two food runners and a manager, just to count the FOH. It took our server 10 minutes to come to our table and take our drink order. The "Mistakes Were Made" cocktail and one mocktail, we also placed our appetizers ( the calamari and smoked fish dip) at that time and let our server know that we would look over the limited menu and when our drinks would come that we would place our entree order. About 10 minutes later my drink had finally made it to the table, five minutes following, the appetizers then came. Our appetizers were gone and my fiance's mocktail had still never made it to the table and about that time the server finally came back to take our order. We went on and ordered the shrimp salad and planned on eating the scallop risotto and seafood pasta, I also ordered another drink and jokingly made the comment that maybe it wouldn't take another 20 minutes to get my drink. This is where things really started going bad. The table next to us, who came in only 10 minutes behind us, had their appetizers and both drinks within minutes (same server as us). They had also placed their entree order around the same time we did. Around the 40 minute mark, my fiance's mocktail made it to the table with the apology that the bartender got swamped and the server apologized for the delay. We sat there eating what should have been an amazing salad but I started losing interest. My second drink had still not made it to the table but I could see it just sitting on the bar side as food runners and servers kept walking past them. Right at the moment the table next to us who had ordered after we did, were receiving their food. At the 50 minute mark, I looked at my fiance and asked if we could just leave. He motioned for our server to come over, and at which point you could tell he was stressed and immediately said I am so sorry they served your food to another table, so the kitchen was trying to re-make it and it would be out soon. I looked at my fiance and said absolutely not. He asked that our server just cash out so we could leave. Not a single person, manager or other, came to our table to explain the situation. Needless to say the appetizers were decent, my salad left a lot to be desired and the drink was okay. As we were walking out, the manager was sitting at the hostess stand and knew what had taken place because she made sure to tell us, that how we were treated was unacceptable. I just smiled said It is what is it and left. Not even close to the reviews I have seen and we will not be returning. We will find another restaurant that lives up to it's reviews. Very disappointed to say the least. Thank you to the sweet hostess, your laugh and kindness were the best part of this whole experience.
Dear [Restaurant Management/Customer Service], I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with my recent dining experience at your New Orleans restaurant. The service was truly horrible. We felt rushed from the moment we were seated, practically pushed to our table and then pressured to pay before we had even finished our meal. Our initial table was unstable, and when we requested a different one, the waitress seemed visibly upset. Although the restaurant was largely empty, the alternative table offered was still very small. Furthermore, my fillet mignon was overwhelmingly seasoned with an excessively thick layer of pepper that completely masked the flavor of the steak. This was not mentioned in the menu. The side dish arrived five minutes after the main course and was, frankly, a waste of money. It was clear that the priority was to get customers in and out as quickly as possible, resulting in a truly unpleasant experience. This has been the worst culinary experience I have had since moving to New Orleans. I hope this feedback will help others avoid a similar disastrous night out. Dedrick
The quality of the food and service were substandard and extremely disappointing. My husband has taken groups of colleagues to this restaurant and wanted to take me there. We invited another couple to join us for an early dinner at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. The restaurant was pretty empty with just one table of ~5 people and two people at the bar. We were seated at a lovely table by the window. We ordered cocktails, wine, appetizers, dinner, coffee, and dessert and spent over $100 per person. I suspected that our waiter was new, since he really couldn't answer our questions regarding the menu. However, he was very pleasant. In spite of the small number of customers in the restaurant, service was extremely slow. It took a long while for our food to be served with significant time in between courses. For dinner, I ordered the scallop risotto ($44). There were three scallops. The risotto was supposed to be lemon risotto, however, I could not taste any lemon at all. There was a lime green liquid surrounding it and a very strange taste to the scallops, which concerned me. Part of one scallop was hardened. I tried to eat two and left the third untouched. The other entrees were just "O.K." We had expected "exceptional" - or at least "very good." The waiter cleared our dishes and took our dessert orders for key lime pie and coffees and disappeared. Once again, we waited a very long time in the empty restaurant. When our desserts finally arrived, we were informed that our "coffee was brewing." We had expected to be able to enjoy coffee with our desserts. The coffee arrived long after we had finished our pies. We had initially asked for cream and sugar with the coffees and reminded our server. He disappeared. Again, after another long wait, he returned with 4 small pitchers of milk (not half and half or cream) and no sugar - no spoons, etc. and then disappeared again. Because he had cleared our silverware with our dinner plates, we all were forced to share the one knife that had remained on our table to stir our coffees. It was very embarrassing and frustrating.
The food was impossibly bland, and overpriced. The service was bad. The music was awful. The bathroom was out of paper towels. The cheese board was okay. $150 gone on our 2nd attempt here.
Going to this place is the equivalent of being robbed. I went with my partner for date night, I ordered the scallop risotto and it was a complete disaster. The rice wasn't fully cooked, the portion was less that a quarter cup and they only gave me 3 small scallops. For the lovely price of $46. This is not current for market price of scallops. The upcharge is astronomical. To add to insult, we ordered virgin mojitos, which cost $11 per drink. Mind you there was no alcohol in them. It was just soda. My boyfriend ordered the soft shell crab with pesto pasta. I also tried it and honestly the pesto tasted like a chain restaurant. Similar to Olive Garden. At least olive garden has the decency to give you free breadsticks?. To further discourage us from ever coming back, we ordered the creme brulee which I'm pretty sure had been frozen. The fruit on top were 4 tiny blueberries and a dead strawberry. Classy. Yes, the ambiance is nice. But I can't digest ambiance. Between the two of us we spent $155 for a menu I could have easily gotten as a frozen meal.
