Opinions de Grand Isle Restaurant New Orleans
Where to start from the staff to the owner Jeff and his entire TEAM amazing customer service, food and atmosphere. We fly from Charlotte once a month to just eat at this restaurant. Every dish is made with NOLA passion and it shows every time we eat here sometimes 6 times on a 3 day visit! Best char-grilled oysters in NOLA!
We visited Grand Isle the evening before leaving on a cruise. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. The service was outstanding. Our server Beth F had such a great smile and personality. She checked on us numerous times and suggested a great local Pilsner Paradise Park. We ordered the Fried Platter. It definitely feeds two. Beth recommended a second side salad and she was correct. The salad was fresh and the fried seafood excellent. The crawfish beignet was a true treat. Definitely somewhere we will return on our next visit to New Orleans.
Best Cajun Food Ever Referred by hotel (Marriott) concierge. Short 10 minute walk from hotel lobby. My server Faija was quick, busy, friendly and overall on it. She took my order within 2 minutes of my sitting area at a table in the bar area. There was a 2 hour wait for tables otherwise. Food took a while due to short kitchen staff, but was well worth the wait. Ordered Shrimp and Grits. Jumbo Louisiana shrimp in sauce on grits and corn. Absolutely amazing! Only complaint was the size, a bit too small. I ordered an appetizer afterwards to finish, as the main course was indeed too small. Crawfish Beignets. Deep fried, a bit too much batter for my taste, but the filling was excellent. I shall return.
I had an amazing time here two nights in a row! My wife is a lover of seafood, and I really wanted to impress her. Not easy as she is a caterer and grew up in the restaurant business. We arrived during happy hour and there were some great deals on appetizers. Definitely try to arrive at the start of happy hour. We ordered the baked red snapper for two both evenings. This is a dish that may not be available depending on supply. I have had my share of fresh red snapper when I worked in the oilfield, and this was fresh and cooked to perfection. The restaurant is an easy walk from the convention Center or Harrahs casino. Its located on a nice brick lined street.
My family and I were in town for the Sugar Bowl on the 31st, so we made a late-night dinner reservation. We first waited at the bar and were blown away by our refreshing cocktails. Shortly after, we were seated and got Mark as our server, and let me tell you, hands-down, he provided the best service we had all week in New Orleans, not to mention the most amazing dinner - no extra frills or fancies, just delicious! We felt like we were almost dining at Mark's house. The conversation was a delight, and he taught us so much about the culture in New Orleans. We will forever be grateful P.S. get the hurricane and don’t stir it;)
As you must have heard, one of the easy choices to make for dining New Orleans. The question is only how many you’re with and how many dishes can be tried. And how stuffed you want to be when the check comes. All the drinks and sampling you’d ever want. Roll yourself back home.
We had a large group and we emailed ahead of time and was able to schedule reservation for a group of 10. The service was superb. The food was delicious as well. Here’s our top recommendations: sticky ribs, Caesar salad, Blackened Baked Gulf Fish with Crawfish Sauce, shrimp juju and Chargrilled Oysters. Also they will validate your parking if you park in the garage.
Walking down Fulton St and stopped by on a whim, and I’m glad that I did. Excellent customer service and the food matched. Ordered the char grilled oysters, Fisherman stew, smoked fried oysters and Sangria. Everything was delicious. I’m from Michigan but when I come back this will be my first visit
No waiting, all the server was attentive. Food came out in a reasonable time, temperature was right and definitely delicious. The best crawfish I ever tasted it's fresh. But the star was dessert. Passion fruit cheesecake! I forgot to take picture coz it was devoured by my son very picky eater.
A must ! We came here on a Wednesday during happy hour (I believe it’s from 4-6pm) and had $1 oysters . We ordered a dozen , half raw and half char grilled . And the char grilled were AMAZING!!! We ordered shrimp and grits , gulf fish with crawfish tails , and my son ordered a burger . The shrimp and grits was honestly the best meal I had on our entire trip ! This entree was bursting with flavor . We finished with the white chocolate bread pudding . The only downfall was the portion was a bit on the smaller side .
Went there for late lunch/early dinner right after they opened (4:00pm I think). Friendly staff. Had a pasta with crawfish tales -loved it. Could have bit more pasta though. Had a beer -happy hour was $1 or $2 or so discount. Also had a bread pudding dessert. Tasty as well. We also got a fried fish basket - cat fish, shrimp and maybe one more (not sure). Good as well. This place is a little but pricey. Did not appreciate gratitude automatically added to our tab. Would recommend to go there to try some sea food.
Every bit was delicious 😮crawfish beignets, seafood po boy with delicious Asian slaw, salmon and amazing grits! The kids has burgers that they loved and kids meal stuff. They loves the French fries. Janique was a fabulous server for our little people. Thanks for such a great local experience
Unexpectedly knocked my socks off with excellent oyster selections and several delicious entrées including my blackened gulf fish which was kindly substituted with the pecan rice (vice potato) which was extraordinary. Friendly service and one of the few NOLA places I know of that serves smoked/fried oysters with a delicious creamy remoulade and fresh chopped veggies. YUM! Note: I have a small dispute with the mandatory 20% gratuity but in retrospect, it was worth it and we even added an additional tip amount.
This place has great oysters and calamari. The creole sauce is incredibly good. Dragos oysters are good, but this place has much better flavor and the oysters are bigger. I got the catfish and greens and everything tasted awesome! The catfish was the best I've tasted, the greens were the best I've had and the potatoes salad was awesome. Portions were good and service was great. The restaurant is cozy, but their bathrooms aren't that great. Overall great experience. This is the best restaurant by the Marriot that I've eaten at.
My sister and I were in town for Eras Tour and dined in on 10/26. We got there a little after opening and were immediately sat. The atmosphere was so welcoming and the restaurant was beautiful! Our server was Fasia (I’m so sorry if I’m spelling that incorrectly). She was THE BEST! So energetic and willing to offer us suggestions on what to do with the rest of our day. The food was also amazing! So good in fact, I called my husband as soon as we left to tell him just how good it all was. I can’t wait to come back and bring my family!
Absolutely amazing. Got seated at the oyster bar immediately without a reservation. Ordered chargrilled oysters, smoke fried oysters, shrimp juju, and the blackened fish. Everything tasted great especially the chargrilled oysters - fantastic! If your party size is big, recommend making reservations.
I absolutely loved this restaurant. The whole area had a great vibe. Very laid back and relaxed. We had a reservation and were seated immediately upon arrival. The staff were so patient and kind. The food was amazing. I dont eat seafood or fish, but they had several other delicious options. I loved every bite.
This restaurant made me believe in eating out again. We were greeted as soon as we walked in, the atmosphere is so inviting. I really wish I knew my server’s name she was so kind, patient, & helpful. She helped my husband figure out what to order as he can’t really have seafood, however I LOVE it and the dishes were 10/10! The food comes out quick and the prices are fair. It was the highlight of my visit to New Orleans! The grits, oysters, & crab dip were perfect!
We absolutely loved the Grand Isle. It was our last night in New Orleans, and we ran across this little gem. Service was fabulous. Kate was - hands down - the best server we had while in town. She was so friendly, knowledgeable, made our evening fun! The food was excellent. Highly recommend the hot crab dip and the charbroiled oysters...oh, and the crawfish beignets! The topper was their tequila selection. My husband is a "Tequila guy" and was impressed they had Fortaleza which he really enjoyed!!
What a great place to get some seafood and drinks. We got there just before the lunch hour rush and got seats at the bar. the server and bartender were both great and attentive. Food all looked great and the serving sizes were big. Lots of oyster options and fish. Ended up trying a few of the appetizer options and we enjoyed everything. Definitely gets crowed when there is a big convention going on so we were lucky to get a spot at the bar.
We ordered crab dip & chargrilled oysteres and both were very good appetizers but The blackened fish stole the show! It was the best thing we ordered & most popular item on the menu! The craw fish beignets were delicious and full of flavor. Bread pudding was the perfect way to finish the meal! If you’re in NOLA pleaseee check this place out!
I can confidently say that Grand Isle Restaurant served the best food I had during my New Orleans trip! The food was absolutely incredible, and the staff were so sweet and friendly, they made the experience even better. The chargrilled oysters were smoky and buttery, the crab cake was full of flavor, and the blackened Gulf fish with crawfish and potato croquette was absolutely incredible. Every dish was cooked to perfection. This place is a must-visit if you’re in New Orleans. I’d go back in a heartbeat.
We dropped in here right after the comedy show across the street. This place is awesome. The redfish was delicious. My wife had the poboy and it had an interesting flavor she absolutely loved it! Grilled oysters were some of the best I've ever had. We even got dessert, Brownies and ice cream.
I’m currently still sitting at the restaurant, but I’m literally blown away by the excellent service provided by our waitress Tiffany. She gave us a rundown of the menu, with suggestions recommended places to see in the area and was overall a breath of fresh air and wonderful experience to have. The food here was absolutely amazing! We had the shrimp and grits, crab dip, beignets, and I can’t think of the fish dish, but everything was great! No, this isn’t a turn up hype restaurant but I personally don’t need all that. This is a very relaxed and welcoming restaurant with great food and amazing service. Again, I personally thank Tiffany for being so dope.
Grand. Great. Absolutely grateful we found this fine, Big Easy establishment. While we did already partake in more touristy NOLA - not that there’s anything wrong with that - you can only go right with Grand Isle. And I’ll mention our orders were from some alternate food dimension that can only be crafted by their chef. The menu makes it clear: “No Refunds” ‘cause that’s how CONFIDENT they are with what they serve and clearly the labor of love that goes into their grand grub. We got a Caesar Salad, which is a rather basic choice. But here they baste 2 large uncut romaines with a dreamy dressing. Do make sure to have the Icebox Lemon 🍋 Pie, that’s key-lime-esque but lemony fresh with a fruit compote. Do not eat this dessert. Rather let it slowly seep into your tastebuds. My dish of fish was fan-freakin’-tasty. The corn grits are a hit (even as someone who normally despises grits). Make sure to talk to the staff - The servers, hosts, and bartenders are food-fluent and insightful. And whether you’re a foodie or not, your trip to Grand Isle is an investment beyond worthwhile!
I arrived shortly before closing (20 minutes), so the restaurant was largely empty and I was seated immediately. Very friendly staff. Ordered a bowl of gumbo and a grilled salmon with cooked vegetables and grits. Gumbo was decent, but not the best. The salmon dish was excellent, best meal I had on this short trip to NOLA..I would definitely reorder it and return to this restaurant on my next visit to New Orleans.
I don't have anything negative to say about this place, apart from the automatic 20% tax. Our server was outstanding! And the food was very good! My wife had the "Chili Mint Wings" and a side of "corn grits" and she was raving about them! I ordered the "Smoked Bleu Burger" since I wasn't too hungry but you would never have thought that cuz I ate the whole thing and the fries! I opt the Mayo for ranch and that burger was done! It had a very smokey flavor and the bacon was nice and crispy. Our friends ordered the "Grilled Creaser Salads" and the "Smoked Fried Oysters, both were delicious. To be honest after the food and great service the 20% was well worth it.
Great food and service! We ended up ordering 3 starters and there was so much food we didn't have room for entrees. But we did save room for dessert! Oysters were very good and reasonably priced. Paid about $50 per person, but that included a cocktail, splitting the starters and a dessert.
This place was spectacular! The food was amazing. The charbroiled oyster was to die for OMG. Also the shrimp and grits…like…literally no words. You just have to try it. By the way our server, Kevin, went above and beyond for our table. Drinks were brought on time, water refills, our food, all of that. I hope he gets every penny of that 20% mandatory gratitude fee!
The food was wonderful as was most of the staff, except our Elonda L (our server). She was condescending from the start, sent stuff we didn't order, and didn't send things we did order. I guess because the 20% gratuity is automatic doesn't matter. Everyone else and the food made up for her so I still round up 4.5 to 5. The Grand Isle oyster soup was a delightful spin on oyster stew. I know another establishmemt is known for their charbroiled oysters but G.I. surpasses them in flavor and preparation (imo). The grilled ceasar salad was perfect, good smoky grilled taste, slightly charred.
We had reservations for 7:00. Called at 6:00 to inquire about early seating and they immediately accommodated us. The food was excellent. The chargrilled oysters were some of the best I’ve had. My wife had the blackened gulf fish with crawfish tails and raved about it. I had the Creole crawfish pasta. Exceptional! Our server, Kevin, was very helpful in helping us choose our items and made sure we were well taken care of. We will definitely be back and share our experience with our customers when we help them book travel to this area.
Best Plate of food I’ve ever had in my life. No Cap. I went two years ago and I’m leaving another review because every so often I get a remembrance on my taste buds. That’s Fish and Crawfish Sauce… ooooweeeeeee. Crispy potato cake and the spinach. CLEARED!🤤 The mac was sharp 👌🏽 too. I did prefer another oyster spot over theirs but still nice. They were just too big for me. (newbie to oysters) 🦪 GO GO GO!
Comfortable Relaxed Atmosphere with Superb Food The wait staff are so friendly and knowledgeable about the menus. Shout out to Faija, Tijera, Nathan and Chef Teddy. Nathan thank you for recommending the Blackened Gulf Fish with Crawfish Étouffée Sauce. Excellent choice!!! The BEST charbroiled oysters hands down!!! The jalapeño grits were amazing as well. Hit the happy hour for the $1 oysters and $8 shrimp boil bags. You will not go wrong here with any of the choices. Jeff Hof is the Executive Chef and Owner. I cannot say enough about this gem!!!
Grand Isle Restaurant is within close proximity to the river and Caesar’s Palace and offers a seafood-focused menu with fried seafood options, oysters, po’boys, and more. The building is very old and provides an authentic old New Orleans vibe to the dining room. The food was excellent. The chargrilled oysters were a highlight, the crab dip was rich and creamy, and the fried seafood was done to perfection, while the bread pudding was shared by the table and lasted just seconds before being demolished. The service was fantastic. The server was engaging and helpful and added to the experience. I happened upon this location on a whim while staying at Caesar’s and I’m glad I decided to give it a try. I was definitely not let down by my decision!
We have had the pleasure of visiting Grand Isle on several occasions, and it has become our preferred destination in New Orleans for exceptional fresh seafood, served in a relaxed, upscale, fishcamp-inspired setting. The establishment endeavors to create a "fancy fishing camp" within the city, harmoniously blending the unpretentious, fresh seafood culture of the coast with a refined New Orleans dining experience. The restaurant's walls are adorned with striking black and white photographs by Fonville Winans, who beautifully captured the essence and culture of Grand Isle during the 1920s and 1930s. On our first visit, we we sat at the Oyster Bar and were thoroughly impressed with the friendliness, candor, and humor of our "shucker," Will. This positive experience prompted us to return for dinner a couple more times, and after a subsequent meeting with sales and operations manager Amanda, we decided to book our son's wedding rehearsal dinner at the venue. We cannot adequately express our satisfaction with the food, ambiance, and service provided by Grand Isle Restaurant. We highly recommend this establishment and eagerly anticipate our next visit to New Orleans. Incidentally, the rehearsal dinner was absolutely perfect. Hats off to Amanda and her staff Faija and Giocomo
What started as a terrible experience with the host seating us in the sun outside in an empty restraunt with lots of of tables in the shade was quickly overturned by our brilliant server Mark who immediately changed our table when he saw how uncomfortable our seating was, to interacting so nicely with our kids, to great recommendations for food which all tasted excellent. Thanks Mark, for saving our experience at the grand isle and 5 stars for marks attention service and hospitality!
The best lemon drop martini I’ve ever had! I had the seafood soup and grilled oysters. They were to die for! Our waiter was amazing! I can’t recommend this restaurant enough!
The blackened crawfish was absolutely delicious!! Added bread for $1 to sop up the sauce…now I can say that I got to experience delicious New Orleans seafood! Really glad I came here
We stopped in for Oysters on the half shell and were not disappointed! Absolutely amazing and shucked fresh right in front of you when you sit at the bar. We also had the crab dip and the fisherman's stew. Service was amazing and we had the best conversations with the employees at the bar. Will definitely be back!
We asked the server, Tia, what her suggestions were. She did not disappoint! We did the Fried Redfish, small rib plate, catch of the day, and the cheesecake of the day. Everything was so amazing! Oysters and steak on a stick for the appetizer started everything off Perfectly. The Antidote, Old Fashion, and Hurricanes were perfect dinner drinks. If I had remembered to take pictures of the food, it would have made mouths water. The Christmas decor were simple and elegant. And overall the space was perfect. They do add 20% gratuity to the bill, no matter the size of the party. Not mad at it.
The oysters were fresh and delicious! So many amazing options on the menu to choose from and our waitress was so friendly and helpful, it was our first time in NOLA and she had great recommendations to give! Definitely give them a try!
I had the hot crab dip as an appetizer🔥. My group tried the Grand Isle Burger, Creole Crawfish Pasta, and Catfish Basket. Everything was VERY FLAVORFUL. Jolanda was EXCELLENT. She was personable, honest, offered great suggestions, and attentive. Will most definitely be back for her service alone. If you are a bland eater this place may not be for you.
This was the surprise of our trip. It was our first N/Orleans meal, and it was the best. I was with a foodie group, and we compared everything to this place. If we had time, we'd go back. Best BBQ shrimp in the city.
This place was great! We ordered the redfish with veggies and a potato salad, along with some raw oysters. Everything was so tasty. And seriously—where else can you get a half dozen oysters for just $6? The potato salad was the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve eaten a lot of potato salad in my life! The service was friendly and quick, which made the meal even better. I’ll definitely be visiting again!
After a day full of several travel hiccups, we were tired, frustrated and hungry. We came across the Grand Isle where the kind hostess immediately sat us. Our amazing waiter was named Kevin and he was great! He was attentive and patient. He kept our drinks full and offered brief chats throughout our meal. The food was delicious! We had the angus steak skewers, grilled shrimp over the house salad, a shrimp poboy and a side of jambalaya. Our taste buds were truly delighted. The experience at the Grand Isle turned our day around and became the BEST part of it!
El sitio es agradable y cómodo, la atención excelente, el pescado y sus acompañamientos exquisitos y el postre de chocolate blanco delicioso. Recomendado al visitar New Orleans
Exelete comida muy sabrosos y ricos recomendable ir
Comida buena
Had a great time here! Our group was very grateful they were open during the tropical storm and they have an extremely friendly staff. I had the alligator po boy - I enjoyed it. It was spicy and the restaurant was spacious. Stop by if you're looking to have lunch with a group of friends. Thank you!
Despite choosing this restaurant solely for its proximity to my hotel, I had low expectations for it. However, to my surprise, the dining experience turned out to be excellent. Although I initially wanted to order crawfish and oyster, unfortunately, they were sold out which left me feeling disappointed. However, I decided to try the fried shrimp with sauce and Chef's soup instead, and both dishes were exceptional. The Chef's soup contained a plethora of seafood and vegetables mixed with rice, and I found it to be even more enjoyable than traditional gumbo and etouffee. I am looking forward to returning to the restaurant later today for happy hour and trying their crawfish. Note: The tip was already included! ***Boiled crawfish costs $8 per pound during happy hour!
I came by here with a small group of friends and family. We were greeted by a hostess at the front of the restaurant and taken to a table. We would eventually get a booth as a result of the table size. We ordered two crab dips for our table. Both of them arrived hot, looked nice, and tasted pretty good too. This was a hit with the group. We ordered bowls of seafood gumbo with rice. The bowls were served with a half crab on top of the meal. The ladies didn't eat or like crab served this way. Two in our group did not eat oysters contained in the gumbo and thought it was just okay. Two ordered fish and fries which was a direct hit with the group and popular. I ordered the fish sandwich and fries, which was a bit disappointing as the fish was VERY thin. I tasted more ingredients than I did fish. The service was pretty good and the server was knowledgeable which was a great help to our group. We did have to ask for a refill on our drinks. This whole restaurant food experience was pretty good, but not great.
The food was very tasty and the service was excellent. I had the shrimp and grits, jambalaya, and my wife had the fried shrimp platter. The portion size was good, and the prices were a little steep but comparable to other restaurants in the downtown area. We got seated right away with 6 people on a Sunday night around 7 pm. Overall, I was happy with my meal and the dining experience.
The food we ordered was excellent, the "Pimms Cup" I ordered wasn't so great. We had a fried chicken sandwich with an order of shrimp and grits. But that Pimms cup didn't need the maraschino cherry and bitters added to it. Im from Louisiana, and that's not a good "New Orleans" style Pimms Cup, it also costs like 25$ for that beverage.
I visited this restaurant while traveling through NOLA with my best friends. The appetizers are the STARS of this show!! The crawfish beignets were so tasty & the sauce made it even better. The wings were delicious & cooked to perfection. The shrimp ju-ju was good and tasted like bang bang shrimp for you to get a better understanding of its taste. However, the chicken in my entree was super salty, but the sides were great. Overall, the experience was good. I definitely recommend any of the appetizers I had.
Dined in 02/20/26. Myself and my wife together for a date night. Our very first time at this restaurant. Didn't even know this place was right outside the casino. Didn't know much about it. Our waiter jack, was very nice, accommodating, very personable. We wanted to order an appetizer that we weren't sure if it had onions in it due to my allergy. He went and checked, and gave us a list of everything on their menu that didn't hasn't onions in it. We ordered oysters for an appetizer. She ordered the fisherman's and I ordered the red fish. Red fish had the most out of the world seasoning on it, and I mean it was amazing! Made my mouth happy lol. Her fisherman's dinner had, shrimp, mussels, and calamari in it. She loved the flavor and the amount of seafood. Will most definitely be back. The staff is amazing, and welcomed us like they had known us forever.
Buena comida y buen servicio. Demoraron bastante los platos principales
Se come bien...mucho frito. Pero un frío terrible por el aire acondicionado
Muy buena la comida..sólo tardan en tomar la orden.
Buena comida
Good taste, but very overpriced. The seafood was actually tasty, but the prices were extremely high for what was offered. The quality did not justify the cost at all. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but the experience felt overpriced and not worth the money.
The vibe was inviting, the reviews were good and the pictures of food looked great. However, we should have seen the red flags that they stand by their food and absolutely no returns. We were initially sat at a table squeezed next to another table that was nearing the end of their dinner. They shared that when the party next to us got up, they would move that table next to ours to comfortably seat 11. Our waitress, Kate L., rushed us through every portion of our meal; very disappointed.
We waited at least 5 min before some one came to greet us. Our server Jolanda was really nice and gave honest reviews on items to order. The food was just mid. ( not great and not bad) If you order catfish, chicken sandwich it is not seasoned.👎🏽 Very Bland! The jambalaya was spicy with no flavor.👎🏽 I had fried shrimp and it was pretty good and the chargrilled oysters were good! Keep in mind a 20% gratuity is automatically charged to your check! Besides the service the food for the price isn't worth it. Disappointed! Never Again!
My wife and I decided to give this place a try. Neither of us really cared for this restaurant. I thought that the portion and quality was not really worth the menu price. My wife's food was cold when our food arrived. This could have been quickly resolved, if the waiter was more observant; however he was distant and only came back to throw the check on the table. Because of this service and food issue, we do not plan on coming back to this restaurant.
Food is not their strong suit. Full bar available with TVs to watch sports on multiple screens. Tables available throughout the restaurant. The shrimp basket seemed to be the safest bet given another review claims the restaurant suffers from a rodent problem. The shrimp had a kick and was nice sized. Pretty sure it’s farm raised as opposed to wild caught Gulf shrimp. Fried to perfection but not as good as expected in NOLA. The fries were horrible. Not the best but they are decent in the most general terms. I will not ever return.
The food at Grand Isle is solid, which makes this experience even more frustrating. The problem is the front-of-house. The woman at the main reception who was assigning seating was openly rude, and completely unprofessional. During our visit, my fork accidentally fell. So I was trying to ask for another fork but nobody was responding so I grabbed a fork kept on next table. Instead of responding like a normal human being in a restaurant, she yelled at me across the space, drawing unnecessary attention, and followed it with a comment that was was hostile. There is absolutely no excuse for screaming at a customer. Restaurants in a diverse city like New Orleans should know better. Hospitality means respect. This was the opposite. Good food does not make up for being treated with disrespect. Management seriously needs to address how guests are spoken to by the staff. Until that happens, I would not recommend this place to anyone who expects basic decency along with their meal.
