Opinions de Dubrovnik Restaurant New Rochelle
Dubrovnik is one of those rare places where dining is an experience, not just eating out. First, I was surprised to see that this place has dedicated parking for guests - rarest of the rare for someone from NYC! The host was super quick to offer a table and help us with their best seasonal offerings. Their seafood menu is one of the best in the region. Whether you like oysters or fish, you're not gonna be disappointed. The drinks are prepped with attention to detail as well. I had Sangria, and it was so good I had a repeat. The place maintains high hygiene standards. After dining in hundreds of restaurants in NYC, for the first time, I witnessed a restaurant replace the tablecloth after it's been used. What deserves a special mention? The food and hygiene standards just make this one of the best places to dine. What could be better? Nothing for now - they're doing a great job!
The best and most authentic Croatian restaurant in the US! Top notch service and delicious food. We love coming back!
I've been meaning to write this review for a long time! Our friends recommended this place for us for my father-in-law's surprise birthday party back in December. We booked it and the general manager, Matija, was so responsive and helpful in developing a menu and helping us decide which private room was best for us. The food was unbelievable, even months later, our guests are still talking about the food. One of our family members from Chicago said he would come all the way back just for another meal at this restaurant. The staff was very nice to us, and even when the guest of honor was late and we were super behind, they did not make us feel rushed to leave. We really appreciated their kindness in making us feel welcomed and taken care of. All of the staff was on point throughout the entire event. Wine glasses and water glasses were always full and food came out in a very timely manner. They had a screen with speakers we could use for a photo slideshow. You should strongly consider this restaurant if you're planning a birthday, bridal shower, baby shower, or any other life event.
Dubrovnik is fantastic! Authentic Croatian cuisine with rich, flavorful dishes and generous portions. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is attentive and friendly. Perfect for a family dinner or special night out. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy delicious, authentic Mediterranean flavors!
Excellent!! my mom 91st birthday and the food, service, desserts and staff were exceptionally amazing. Place was beautiful, 3 birthdays that night and the live music duo found time to serenade each person including my mom. Best choice ever driving from Brooklyn to get here.
I visit Dubrovnik Restaurant about four or five times a year, and it never disappoints. The parking can be quite difficult, so I highly recommend using the valet service to start your evening comfortably. This place offers a level of Croatian cuisine that is hard to find in the NY/NJ area. Their philosophy is clearly about respecting the ingredients. The wood-grilled Branzino is exceptional; the fire gives it a subtle sweetness and the texture is perfect. We also enjoyed the Lamb Chops and Aged Rib Eye Steak, both cooked beautifully. The appetizers are always fresh and vibrant. The Marinated Anchovies and Nona’s Octopus Salad had great texture with no fishiness. I particularly love the Pear and Apple Salad—the crisp fruit provides a wonderful balance to the savory dishes. The Cuttlefish Risotto is served perfectly al dente, rich with flavor but not heavy. The service is generally skilled and attentive. We did have a small mix-up where a server mistook soy sauce for black vinegar, but it was an understandable mistake that didn't affect our enjoyment of the meal. The wine list is a real highlight, especially the Croatian selections. We had the Stina Cuvée by the glass; it was excellent for the price, with enough acidity to pair perfectly with the seafood. It’s a dining experience I always look forward to returning to.
A Croatian restaurant--not something you can find evey day. My wife and I first dined here shortly after they first opened, and it was memorable. But we're not from the area, so a recent trip to Westchester County gave me the opperotunity for our second visit. Our server was a young fellow who seemed just a tiny bit nervous--a recent hire perhaps--but he did his job remarkably. He guided us to a fine Croatian white wine and made good menu recommendations. The signature approach of Dubrovnik is that they bring out a platter containing their catch of the day--on this evening, calamari, oysters, sea bass, snapper, branaino. You pick your fish (if seafood is your plesure) and they will grill it whole or filet and pan-sear it per your request. I got the pan-seareed filet of branzino. My wife went for the lamb chop from the other part of the menu, and we started out with an appetizer platter of cold cuts and pickles and goat cheese. My branzino was SUPERB! Cooked to perfection, served on a disk of rice pilaf with a red sauce that was so scrumptious! One the side were garlic green beans cooked precisely for a nice crisp bite. I've had dishes from some famous chefs--this dish ranks as good as most of theirs, and a little bit better than the branzino I had at Butter. The lamb chop, my wife reports, was OK but after she tasted my branzino she declared she should have let me order for her. I cannot expect better from a restaurant, and I am already contemplating my next meal wth them.
Excellent lunch on a Friday at this place. Two of us had branzino with creamy, perfectly cooked risotto . Another had the salmon which he raved about, also with risotto. Dessert of vanilla custard, Croatian style, with fresh, hot coffee. Service was impeccable, ambiance is pleasant and the food was outstanding. Highly recommend.
I'm writing this while waiting for my flight to Dubrovnik. It was our anniversary and I thought it was kizmet to go to a restaurant named the place we were going. I hope the city of Dubrovnik is as good as this resteraunt. The food was perfect and our waiter Erbis (I hope I got this right) was outstanding.
Two of my best and oldest friends and I got together at Dubrovnik on Saturday night for dinner. We started out with some delicious grilled anchovies and a meat and cheese appetizer that was yummy but on the small side. For our main course, we splurged on a 4 1/2 pound scorpion fish, also known as a rockfish. It was delicious. Sort of like a combination of shrimp, lobster and sole. It came “butterflied.” The waiter did a great job of filleting it. A first time any of us had had it. Very uncommon here, but apparently fairly plentiful in the Mediterranean. The $125 fish rice sounds high but it fed the three of us with plenty to spare. It came with some delicious roasted potatoes that were heavy in the garlic and cooked just right.. If you go sit outside on the patio. There are two different level levels really Quite a beautiful setting Our waitress was wonderful and the service in general, first rate. I haven’t been to this gem for about three years when my wife and I celebrated a wedding anniversary there. It is great as ever, but prepared be prepared to spend about $100 a person, including drinks and dessert. Reservations strongly suggested for weekend dinner. Valet parking was appreciated because parking is difficult.
Perfect experience. To start of, it has convenient valet parking. Very pleasant outdoor sitting area, that even though was busy it was not too loud. We were tended to by a lovely young waiter that was very knowlegeable of the menu and offered great suggestions. The food was well served in terms of portions and it was absolutely delicious. Price is a little high, but seems adequate for the quality of food and service provided.
We just got back from a vacation in Croatia and finally decided to try this Croatian restaurant in New Rochelle - we had always known about it but never visited since we weren’t familiar with Croatian cuisine. After falling in love with the food during our trip, we knew it was time. And we’re so glad we did! The lamb and fish were outstanding - almost like being back in Croatia. And the sourdough bread… OMG! Absolutely delicious!
I went out to lunch here with my parents. The food was amazing, and the portions were so big that I took home enough for a whole other meal. The restaurant itself was also beautiful. Very classy with great natural lighting. We sat in the front room and we didn't even realize until the end that they have a gorgeous outdoor patio and deck in the back. This is going to be our new favorite restaurant when my parents visit!
True Mediterranean experience the moment you step inside. The interior is like stepping into a restaurant on the Mediterranean coast un Europe. The staff were attentive, professional and knowledgeable. The appetizers, bread, main course, drinks, dessert and coffee were all wonderful. I have had the pork chop and salmon which were delicious and cooked to perfection. A great restaurant to visit over and over again. A note, they serve olive oil which the owner makes from olives he grows in Croatia, it is exquisite. I liked it so much I bought 2 bottles.
I made a reservation for my brother’s birthday. We were greeted the moment we walked in. Our waiter immediately introduced himself and explained everything from drinks to desserts. We ordered some appetizers to share, and it was delicious and filling. I had to try their Croatian beer, which was great! Our entrees were all amazing. The service was excellent too! We all left very satisfied.
I couldn't wait to review this place, hence I am right now enjoying the food and reviewing. Each and every thing on the plate is so well cooked and tastes delicious. From appetizers to entree and dessert, everything tasted heaven. I am coming back and highly recommend this place. This place made my anniversary memorable with a beautiful dessert.
This was a delightful Croatian dining experience. Admittedly, while enjoyable, I wasn't blown away. I liked the free valet parking, as parking can be difficult in this area. The atmosphere was very noisy, making it difficult to carry on a conversation. While I enjoyed the 2 piece live band, they too were quite loud. My meal itself was very good, but not spectacular. I started with the chicken soup. I enjoyed the large pieces of tender chicken in a savory broth, but didn't find this to be much different from any non-Croatian chicken soup. For my main, I had the stuffed chicken breast with asparagus. The chicken was tasty, but surprisingly was a bit tough. Lastly, for dessert, we shared the palacinke with walnut cream. It was creamy and delicious, and was a nice way to wrap up the meal. Others in my party ordered the Branzino and had a much more positive dining experience. I suppose if you dine here, you might be better off with the seafood options.
The place overall has high-end dining traits and reasonable prices. Our jackets and coats were checked upon entering the restaurant. Although the cabinet was small, it was always nice to have them checked. The bread served as appetizer was amazing. The food overall was very good, everyone in my party enjoyed their Hudson Valley restaurant week menu choices. The desserts were amazing. The service was very good, utensils and plates were frequently changed for each course of the meal. However, I would suggest if there could be one service member to serve water or come by the tables more frequently. The atmosphere was great. We had 4 happy birthday occasions during our meal. The guitar duos were amazing. However, since they were loud, everyone has to talk loud, and it is hard to start nice conversations even at a smaller table. I would recommend reducing guitar playing hours so that customers like ourselves can enjoy some nice talk in between our wonderful dishes.
First time here. Parking was no problem. We were seated right away.. Anyway I heard so much about their calamari. But I never had it before. The waiter was nice enough to bring me a slice to try. That is service. Bread came out. Definitely baked in house, with a chickpea and pepper dip, hummus, and olive oil We ordered the calamari appetizer. Omg was it good The steak was cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes was amazing. Those potatoes were amazing. The lamb was tender and trimmed. Not a fan of broccoli though. I will definitely be back. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS restaurant
Had reservations for a Tuesday evening dinner, chose to eat outside on their back terrace. The food was pretty good. I wasn’t a fan of the spread that came with the complimentary bread, but my friend liked it. This was the second restaurant this week where a complimentary spread is brought to the table but no one tells you what it is…so my best guess is that this was a chickpea concoction?! The appetizer (my friend and I shared the grilled octopus) was the best part of my meal: the octopus was perfectly cooked, so tender and juicy! I even loved the salad it was served on top of, dressed with a simple oil and maybe vinegar dressing! I had the veal ragout with the homemade gnocchi, the gnocchi were perfectly little fluffy pillows and the veal was tasty. My friend had the seafood risotto special, I thought it was good but a bit too salty and the shrimp I tried was over cooked. We shared the Dubrovnik chocolate cake and I thought it was pretty good overall. Enjoyed having dinner here and I’m glad I tried out this place, it’s been on my list of places to try for a while now after a friend recommended it!
