Opinions de 181 Cabrini New York
Love this place, it’s a restaurant/coffee shop/ bar. The service is always on point and the food is delicious. I highly recommend the grass-fed skirt steak w/creamy polenta.
Amazing brunch and friendly staff make this cozy corner of Cabrini an absolute must. Self seating during the week and order at the counter ads to the laid back atmosphere but if your looking for a seat on a weekend prepare to wait for some incredible hevos rancheros
Delightful local restaurant with weeknight specials, pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. Excellent for brunch as well
I love 181 Cabrini. Humble spot, quiet, great food & service. The outdoor space is really clean & cozy. Perfect for coffee, breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, drinks, or dessert.
Friendly, neighborly environment. Definitely a place known for regulars. Diverse bartenders. Good salads and tacos!
Love this little place! The staff is always very friendly and helpful, the drinks are strong, and happy hour runs until 8pm! A little hidden gem up on 181st Street.
My favorite neighborhood place. Really good food, friendly waitstaff and a great place to watch soccer and other sports.
Went there with my friends and we had a great time. The food was great and our waiter was extremely nice and friendly, would totally come back again!
Great brunch food for the money. One of my favorites around the area. Small but comfortable casual ambience.
The house wine was great and insanely cheap by the bottle. Th fish tacos are good. The dumplings are great.
Great place for sangria happy hour homemade ;) food is really good. Great crowd of all ages no dancing but great music and chatting with great people and bar tenders as well. Totally here often.
181 cabrini has been a great place to grab brunch and dinner with my family. Friendly staff and great local draft options. The food is amazing. My kids miss the children's Mac and cheese, bring it back guys.
This is a neighborhood gem, always good food in a simple, warm, inviting space. Bartenders and wait staff are attentive, helpful and friendly. It's great to have a place like 181 right there with food that's a step above!
It's a place to leave your negativity outside as you enter. There is nothing magalomaniac in there, which means you can relax. That being said, the quality is above average, and their prices will speak to you: "our cooks do have to make a living". Just be there for happy hour, they respect happy hours too.
Outdoor seating now available! It's a pleasant corner, not too rowdy but lively, gets lots of sun and shade, our go-to is fish tacos (fish is PERFECT) and white wine sangrias 🥰
Friendly staff and great food. I've only been for brunch but looking forward to coming sometime for trivia or a happy hour.
Great place to eat with a friendly staff! You can’t miss Drag Bingo every last Saturday of the month as well as trivia night every Wednesday night.
Great soups and salad or sandwich. Grilled cheese and Lentil soup are exceptional! Nice place to sit outside on these beautiful fall days.
Great for everything from breakfast to brunch to dinner. Nice arrangement with counter/bar up front and tables in rear. Staff is great. Owner is local so h as his finger on the pulse.
The food here is always top notch. The ambience is cozy cheek and it's a great place to hang out for drinks and a nice time with coworkers or friends.
beat french toast ever. my first official “date” with the love of my life was here and OH man. did he score 100 brownie points bringing me here. the oven baked french toast are to die for. we’ve been back countless times. now i live across the country and miss it so much but can’t wait to come back to NY to eat here again
Loved everything service was great. Food was delicious, wings were perfectly crispy and Tacos pork belly wa the best ever tasted 😋
Fun little place with a good number of tables. I had breakfast with a few friends. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Definitely want to go again!
The food and vibe are terrific (you've never had fried brussel sprouts or a turkey burger like the ones sold here), and the cherry on the terrific sundae is Andrew being your server.
I really like this place. Omelettes are wonderful, my gluten allergy is a non-issue, staff is very friendly and laid back, coffee bar is self-serve so you don't even have to wait one minute to get your fix, and they offer free coffee refills during brunch!!! Also, you can walk one block West for a relaxing river view after your delicious meal.
Although a biased opinion simply because it reminds me of a bodega which stood here. I stopped in for melancholy sake since it was where my parents would shop for groceries when we first arrived in this country back in 1971
Local neighborhood place with good food. Dog friendly outdoor seating.
Had dinner here twice - both times excellent. First time had the 181 Cuban Sandwich and the Fried Brussel sprouts. Both were fantastic. I would go as far as to say that was the best Brussel sprouts I've ever had! Second time I went with the Schnitzel which was one of the best I have had outside of Austria. Meat was perfectly cooked.
Great neighborhood spot - Sunday brunch turned into coffee turned into HH and finally into dinner. Delicious food and drinks, great service.
Very friendly servers and great atmosphere. I recommend anyone to come here and have brunch with their family and friends. It will leave you feeling filled and happy. Amazing food and great options. Prices are okay but most importantly it is worth it.
A lovely neighbourhood bar. The laid-back atmosphere, together with the barman's 'ready for a challenge' attitude is what makes this little place one I visit with each NY visit. I definitely recommend it - for all. We were a group of 3 females and we walked there and back. Very safe neighbourhood.
I always passed by this place before but never went inside, until one night and i don't regret it I had the best Cuban Sandwich ever with delicious fries! wow the mozzarella sticks are amazing also the Tapas, the price is great and the waiters are always friendly and the service is fast! why go to downtown? this is my spot now!
Very welcoming and warm staff as soon as we set foot in the place. Tasty food and very good Sangria. I will definitely recommend. This is a great late night, after a party spot.
I love this place! Been here a few times. I appreciate the service and food and drinks are really good. My personal favorites Brussels Sprouts, Wontons and fish tacos. The Red Sangria is delicious. Overall great place.
181 Cabrini is a fantastic neighborhood spot in Washington Heights! Their food is always inventive, fresh, and delicious, the happy hour specials are a great deal, and the staff is among the best you'll find in the city. Great for brunch, happy hour, and especially trivia on Wednesday nights!
One of my favorite restaurants in NYC! Great food! Wonderful atmosphere! The best service!
Had not been here for quite a while but stopped in this week for a turkey burger and fries. Still as good as ever; everything I've had here has been excellent.
Been coming here for 6 years. Great food, vibe and staff. Good mix of dinner specials which switch up every night. My fav is Mexican Mondays. Also the sangria is on point.
Great little local spot that's down to earth. Good food and soccer is usually always on. Actually any sports really. James the owner really loves soccer as well as his son so it's a good place to watch the English premier league and catch a pint as well. Staff has been there a long time so Everytime I go it makes it very comforting and casual. Chef Franco who is Argentinian is great and super talented. He has alot of freedom to make cool stuff for dinner.
I have been here twice. Once for dinner (they have an outdoor area)and 2 days later for lunch. The food was good as was the service and I recommend it. Lunch was the Saturday before the Pride March 2022. The restaurant hosted a Drag Bingo show. The place was packed. The Queens were funny & lipped synced & danced & in between they called Bingo. It was a fun afternoon. 👍
I like the activities there like trivia nights and bingo nights. Service it's not good at all the place gets packed and the staff is not enough which impacts the service quality. On the other hand, the Atmosphere is good on those nights, everyone really gets into the games, so much fun!
Great neighborhood spot Recent take out: Tues pm 2/10/2020 The bartender was very kind on the phone answering all of my questions and creating a nice vegan plate for my guest who was sick. Very patient and Upbeat. Never made me feel rushed. When I arrived to pick up I saw she was super busy and the only person serving the bar and tables. She was still absolutely great and brought everything to me at the door so I didn’t have to leave my dog. Great customer service Above and beyond The food was perfect.
Quaint and fairly quiet atmosphere—very “lofty” with antique-ish wood. The food is good and menu is generally a mix of American type dishes with nice starter salads and basic appetizers. The service is on point too. I’d go back again. The location is nice.
Blast from the past! 🤣 Glad to see u still going strong.. Great people, great food, relaxing atmosphere. Hope all's well, give my best to the family, and my little ironman buddy that's probably 6ft tall by now..
Really good food, great ambiance!
We went to hear a friend play jazz. We loved the good vibe, neighborhood feel, friendly staff and guests. We're New Yorkers and this place felt like a real New York kind of place in a very nice and chill sort of way. Sandwiches were very good, better than we expected. Cubano def recommend.
Really enjoy the brunch here! The huevos rancheros are absolutely spot on – definitely worth a try. The staff are friendly and relaxed, which gives the place a nice, welcoming feel. The decor is lovely too, with a stylish touch throughout – even the toilets have a great design and a bit of character. Just a quick heads-up: the bacon comes very crispy, so if you prefer it a bit softer, best to mention it when ordering.
This is one of the best restaurants in the neighborhood. Went there last night for dinner and to watch the Super Bowl with my family, including 2 young children. The food was excellent, the service was just as excellent!
Hidden gem, steps from the George Washington Bridge walkway. Cosy, relaxing & friendly atmosphere, exemplary service, the English guy there is one of the nicest & most helpful people I've ever met, the food & coffee was great too. Highly recommended!
I’ve been coming here since 2019, the quality of the food and customer service have always been exceptional. We don’t usually write reviews but last night they went out of their way to correct a mistake that a delivering app made. It wasn’t the restaurants fault but either way they went above and beyond to ensure we got our food, free of charge. We were so touched and thankful, dinner was great and their kind gesture made it all the better. Highly recommend this cozy restaurant. Thank you!
181 is one of those spots that has become an essential part of my Manhattan experience. The food is great, I'm particularly fond of the schnitzel with mashed potatoes; the bartenders are all talented and friendly; the beer selection is really solid, particularly if you like IPAs — and even if you don't. It's a place frequented by those of us who live nearby. I love it there, particularly when the weather is warm and you can sit outside.
Great neighborhood bistro in Washington Heights. Staff is very professional and friendly, bartenders are on their A game, and the bar has a great selection, especially the tap list. Menu has something for everyone and the food is excellent. I go to trivia hosted by Uptown Pub Quiz on Wednesdays whenever I can, but they have great events on other nights throughout the week that bring the most fun people in the neighborhood out.
This is an overlooked, really cozy spot with an awesome menu. We ordered the lamb ragout and shrimp tacos, both of which were beautiful and delicious. We also got the soup of the day and homemade chips which were good as well. They have daily specials which they write on a big board behind the bar. The happy hour is 4-8pm daily and surprisingly the coffee is phenomenal. Especially the dirty chai, highly recommended. There was live jazz music when we were there which set the mood wonderfully. Staff was friendly, we will be back!
*Weekend Brunch Review* If there’s one thing I love most, it’s consistency. 181 Cabrini never fails at it. No matter how many times I’ve ordered a particular dish, it was always as delicious as the last time. My recommendations are the Huevos Rancheros, Pull Pork Hash, Cuban Sandwich, Braised Short Ribs, Lamb Chops etc. not in that particular order.
I Google this place one Sunday after church. I was hungry and didn't want to wait to get home to eat. My husband and I ordered eggs and in all truth we were very happy and impressed. It was better than I expected. Definitely a find. I am an specialist in breakfast. It is my favor meal of the day, so I feel confident when I judge a place for it's breakfast
My husband and I go love this place for brunch. The options are great and the drinks even better. The price is super cheap.
In terms of vibe, service and atmosphere, it's a great place. I come there to work on the bar, and its a great study spot. The food, however, is not great and the coffee is average at best. A cafe really should not serve coffee that is not freshly brewed!
Worth it for the blueberry wings alone good price, pretty good dessert specials and the food is actually surprisingly good. Can be on the pricey side but the happy hour discounts make up for it
The blue berry hot wings are the best uptown has to offer. The owner can be seen often at this place and is very approachable. The staff is respectable. They have great happy hour specials.
Enjoyed this place for a quick ice coffee with a friend. They had outdoor seating (during this Covid time), shade or sun and the waiter was very polite when attending us. Would like to go back to grab a bite.
Great place, good for breakfast lunch and dinner. Good coffee. They half close and don't do much food mid-afternoon, which is a bit frustrating. Would be 5 stars is they served their menu all day.
They have a great menu and really friendly waitstaff. I've been here for both brunch and dinner. For dinner, I tried the spicy vegetarian chili, even though the waitress warned me how spicy it was. For brunch, I enjoyed trying the Huevos Rancheros.
Service leaves a bit to be desired. Be prepared to keep going up to the counter for help. Awesome brunch, solid burger and fries, love the nachos and margs. Also come here for a quick coffee to go.
You can't really go wrong on a good bottle of red wine for $21 during happy hour. The grilled asparagus should definitely be something on your list to try if you're in to asparagus. Staffs are very alert and ready to help. Definitely a place to visit if you're visiting the Washington Heights [UWS] area.
Alright, its honestly the Cheers of hudson heights right now. The bartenders are very friendly and remember any conversation you've ever had with them. As soon as you walk in both C.C. and Sara will be waiting for you with your drink before you take your place at the bar. For brunch you MUST have hectors picadillo and for dinner you need to start with the the veggie dumplings and then have James Chicken for dinner. This is an awesome place. You'll go and instanlty plan your next time back.
Excellent food and great drink specials! Best tasting homemade sangria I've ever had! Tonight was pasta night, so the server helped us pick out some delightful pasta and sauce pairings. The atmosphere is pleasant with some beautiful local artwork. Definitely returning.
The service is great and the food is very good. They have brunch on the weekend. Table seating, but you can also eat at the bar counter. Weekdays breakfast you can sit at the tables, but you have to order your meals at the bar counter. They have a number of serve yourself coffee carafes with a variety of flavored, regular, and decaf choices. They do serve alcohol, but I’ve never order any.
This is such a cute little cafe. We sat at a table by the bar, just ordered drinks -the barman was so kind and accommodating. We didn't eat anything but it smelled great the sangria was great and the virgin drink we ordered was so refreshing. There are tables inside where people were sitting down for meals
This is THE place to go for brunch in this area. The french toast is so good, it should be illegal. Little muffins are amazing. The service is consistently less than great, the servers all seem a bit flaky. There is always one thing that isn't quite right. It isn't so bad that I'll stop going though.
I had the chicken zanny sandwich, it was pretty good. I'm not big on eggs, so I can't say much about that side of the menu. Overall, for a Sunday brunch, it was pretty laid back, not a big crowd. We showed up around 3:30pm, so this place def. keeps brunch for longer hours than most other places in the area.
Great neighborhood staple. Always consistently good. Came here on Taco Tuesday, really enjoyed the pulled pork/kimchi and steak tacos. The fish taco was okay
Had a late Sunday brunch with family. We were a group of three and sat upon entry... no wait. We each ordered something different and we all enjoyed our meal. We were not rushed at all and this was a pleasant experience.
Great neighborhood gem, love the chicken schnitzel with blueberry sauce & the bread pudding. I normally do not like coconut anything but 181 Cabrini's coconut bread pudding has made me reconsider that position. The crew is always nice and friendly.
This place is becoming one of my favorite places. It's not very traditional and I like that about it. Staff is friendly always. You can tell when you get your food that the ingredients are fresh and it was made just for you. Prices are decent and won't break your wallet. Biggest plus is its in the neighborhood and I can just leave my car behind. Great environment and atmosphere here. Very laid back and relaxing. Music is good and soft in the background. Try this place out you won't regret it.
This was an easy going spot with good food and friendly staff. I visited for brunch with a friend and really enjoyed the food (esp huevos rancheros, coffee and brunch cocktail). I ordered the granola dish that came with fresh chopped fruit and plain yogurt. I was disappointed in the yogurt which was store bought and not homemade. It had 0 flavor although the fruit was fresh, I wouldn't order it again.
A nice neighborhood corner bistro serving soups, sandwiches and breakfast. Nicely decorated and friendly staff. Good food. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
Great place to eat. Love their brunch. If you haven't been here, it is worth giving it a shot.
It's a decent little restaurant to take a date or meet after work for drinks but I thought it was trying too hard to be an upscale hipster joint. It would fit better in Willamsburg or Park Slope not Wash. Hts. My second visit was no better than my first. Both times the food was bland and over cooked. Stick to the salads.
Over the past couple of years, I feel this place has gone down hill as far as quality goes. Maybe they've changed up things. Service seems to be very hit or miss. They also don't have very many vegetarian options. They tend to run out of the veggie burgers. In the summer they do set up tables. So that is nice. But this place used to be our spot. Now it's, only every once and awhile.
We ate dinner here and it was okay. The food we ordered was definitely reheated frozen food and for the price, was probably not worth it. That being said, maybe we didn’t order their best options. I would return solely because of the service and the drink prices. Their happy hour is great and we were served by a spry British man who really provided exceptional service. We will be returning, but maybe hesitant to order food. Overall, not bad.
Bland tasteless waffles. They forgot the side of whip. Orange juice is store bought and not good. Coffee is not freshly brewed. Service - annoying. The neighborhood has better choices.
Nice coffee menu. But the food isn't that good. Decline over the years. I don't like to give poor reviews, but the salad was awful. And pulled pork tasted microwaved, it wasn't fresh at all. Very disappointed.
Unfortunately "A very nice place" just does not cut it anymore for me at 181 Cabrini, and that is really all this place has going for it. The service is poor and lacking organization from the staff of young girls that appear not to demonstrate any experience or professionalism. I had been coming here about once a week and every time, i was given a reason not to come back. Either I was not explained that I had choices for substituting alternate style food items, not reflected on the menu. Or their poor selection of beers on tap and their wasteful inability to pour them. And the one time they allowed a minor behind the bar to serve customers drinks. The only leadership I have noticed seems to be coming from that little hole in the wall they call a kitchen. Overall, the incompetence and lack of direction and leadership along with favoritism of select clients has justly and rightfully landed 181 Cabrini this review.
Now most persons might wonder why two stars. Well, this is my over all impression about this place....over the years. I fell in love with this place when it first started. The staff combination was awesome....no hipsters staff :)..the original cook was awesome...but then he left. The second one was good...but then he left. The morning guy, the first one, left...then that's when I started to notice the morning differences. The staff, in the morning, can be a bit too chatty with their favorite customers. As for the rest of us, it depends if you fit their profile of what constitutes someone worthy of their attention. The first guy, when it first opened, was charming with everyone that came. I remember seeing the school kids stop by just to say hello to him and they got hugs from him...this guy was genuinely nice to all. Now is a bit cold in the morning. Some people come, mornings, to use the place as their office, well, if I wanted that feel, I could go to Starbucks on Fort Washington. Some parents treat the place as a morning daycare/play pen an don't keep the sound down from their kids. The nights are like you go to a bar not a restaurant. The bar area is full of regulars who look like they should go to a bar on the Lower Eastside in the 70s. The staff is hit, or miss...no personal service......the crowd, boring, no sense of community like the old Emilous, which is gone. They could have learn so much from that restaurants owner....Jammar. I used to have dinner every night with my family, but no more. If you want inconsistent taste, service, and over priced food, then visit. If you want great food..order Pick and Eat from 177th and Broadway. Incredibly great food, attentive owner, if you have problem, they go out of their way to resolve it. The owner will even call you.
I went in here for lunch and the sandwich I had was okay but the place was FILTHY!! Disgusting bathroom, no paper towels, no hand dryer and the service was nonexistent. If you’re thinking about going here don’t. Walk across the street to a better place. I just saw the owners response to my review. First off, you’re in the business of making money, apologize to me as a customer for having a horrible time in your dirty restaurant with horrible service. No one should go and spend their hard earned money at your place. I can’t wait until you close and a good restaurant/bar opens.
While the place is nice and the service is decent, the food frankly is not very good. Had James’ chicken and it was pretty dry and some of the vegetables were undercooked, as well as the flavor not being very pronounced. Definitely better restaurants in the area, wouldn’t waste your time here
Like this place for breakfast especially but lunch is also good. bartender is awesome. Google has hours listed as 9am open but walked inside today and a rude guy said 10am! Turned me off a lot when what is posted is not what is honored. I like an earlier breakfast -lots of good places for brunch so maybe they should rethink this.
Cabrini served me a skirt steak on Monday 5/3 that landed me in the hospital!! I asked for a medium rare steak and it came very well done. Immediately after I had to go to the emergency room for eating bad red meat! TERRIBLE
Very poor service by waitress..They need to be trained on customer service..Food is very ordinary..More hype than anything else.. Our food, Salmon and fried rice was brought with a fork and that's is it..Water on glass cups with no straws. Waiter never came back to ask if everything was OK. When we expressed the lack of service waitress got really defensive and an attitud as is they were giving food away for free..ON TAP of all these, I got sick from the soup I ordered as appetizer.. 🤢🤢🤢
While the food was good, our waiter ruined our whole experience. He was an older gentleman with glasses and clearly hates his job. As soon as we sat down at our table, he berated the bus boy in front of the entire restaurant - it was awful - we should’ve known then that it was going to be an AWFUL experience. When asking simple questions about the menu he seemed bothered and answered with rude responses. The only thing that saved our meal was said bus boy that the waiter berated, he was lovely. Unfortunately we will not be returning. There are too many wonder place, with wonderful food and wonderful staff to waste money here. Decent bar and would go back for a drink only!
