Opinions de Ben & Jack's Steakhouse New York
First time at this restaurant staff was pleasant Mike my waiter was very nice attentive and helpful. I had the filet mignon a bit under seasoned but still tender and juicy the house ben and Jack sauce was tasty. The lamb chops and prime aged steak was amazing. Only thing I would say is the single table behind the entrance was bit smelly so that table should be moved. Otherwise awesome place
Stopped off for dinner after a day out in Time Square and Broadway show. Didn't book but there were plenty of tables free as it was a Thursday. French onion soup to start with a variety basket of bread for the table. Rib eye steak and fillet mignon were outstanding as well as the wagu burger all a tidy portion. Steak fries are a must, the Mac & cheese lacked a bit of flavour but this could be down to personal taste as well. Saute mushrooms were good as were the sprouts with bacon. Portions of sides are enough to share between 2 as the server did point out. Ordered a bottle of red but only got served glasses???. The restaurant is priced at the high end but I think you had value for money overall. We were looking for a nice way to finish our trip in NY and we did.
I had the pleasure of dining at Ben & Jack's Steakhouse during New York Restaurant Week, and I can confidently say this is one of the best fine dining experiences I’ve had in the city. Though the restaurant is tucked away, it is absolutely worth seeking out. Every aspect of my meal was exceptional, and I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a top-tier steakhouse experience in NYC. Six Standout Positives: 1. Incredible Food Quality – I started with the fried calamari, which was crispy and flavorful, followed by a generous portion of New York strip cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes and broccoli were the perfect side pairings, and the cheesecake was a fantastic way to end the meal. 2. Exceptional Service – From start to finish, the service was impeccable. The staff was attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming, ensuring that every need was met without being intrusive. 3. Outstanding Operational Excellence – I’ve been to several fine dining establishments, and none compare to the efficiency and precision with which Ben & Jack’s is run. Whoever is managing this restaurant deserves recognition for keeping everything seamless and top-tier. 4. Cozy Yet Elegant Atmosphere – The restaurant has a warm, inviting ambiance that strikes the perfect balance between upscale dining and a relaxed, enjoyable experience. It’s ideal for both special occasions and casual nights out. 5. Great Value During Restaurant Week – Being introduced to Ben & Jack’s through NYC Restaurant Week was a fantastic experience. The quality, portion sizes, and service exceeded expectations. This restaurant is worth every penny even outside of special promotions. 6. Prime Location for Club Wyndham Guests – I’m currently staying at Club Wyndham Midtown 45 at 205 East 45th Street, just a short walk away. Ben & Jack’s should absolutely reach out to Club Wyndham about being a featured restaurant and offering a 10% discount for guests—it would be a great partnership. If you’re looking for an exceptional steakhouse experience in NYC, Ben & Jack’s is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be returning and recommending it to everyone I know. 5 stars all the way!
Outstanding service and delicious food. Truly a five-star experience!
This restaurant takes a different approach. Impressive tailored care. You'll appreciate the unique feeling. We didn't wait unnecessarily. I'll definitely be back to this spot.
If you're a steak lover visiting NYC, you simply must indulge in the exceptional upscale steak restaurants the city has to offer. The meat is grilled to perfection, showcasing rich flavors and tender textures that are a true delight. The attentive and friendly staff enhance the experience, making you feel welcome and cared for throughout your meal. The ambiance is equally impressive, providing a sophisticated yet comfortable setting that complements the dining experience. Don't miss out on the chance to savor a remarkable steak in the heart of New York City!
We had an incredible experience at this restaurant. The steak for two was large and fulfilling, the French onion soup was delightful, and the broccoli and cheesecake were delicious. The server was attentive, waiting patiently for us to finish eating. The genuine service and amazing flavors made it a memorable meal. The convenient location, just below our hotel, added to the overall experience. Highly recommended for anyone seeking outstanding food, excellent service, and a charming atmosphere. This place is a true gem!
Most underrated steakhouse in NYC. Right there either Strip House, Wolfgang’s, Delfriscos and Keens. Apps and sides are on point, wonderful cocktails and the steak is perfect every time.
The food was amazing, as well as the service. I completely forgot to ask for our server's name. But, he was fantastic! We went to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We started off with the scallops and they were so tasty. For dinner we originally ordered the steak for 3, but our server recommended we do the steak for 2. He was absolutely correct the steak for 2 was more than enough. The server and other team members also sang happy birthday for our 5 year old, which we appreciated very much! She was very happy. We will be coming back for sure
Very good steakhouse, Great service and good bar for cocktails.
It was a pleasure to go at the restaurant with my group. I recommand them for the food ( the filet mignon !!!) the service and the vibe ! See you next year for sure! :)
We went on a Friday evening and we loved it. The place is very clean. Quiet atmosphere. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Besim was our server. Very nice, knowledgeable and funny. He helped us choose our dinner and drinks, and he has great taste. We will definitely go back.
Hosted a party for twenty people. The food is incredible and the staff is amazing. The service is the best in NewYork. The staff is attentive without being distracting.
Wonderful night. Amazing service ! Really made us feel special. The food was delicious and cooked perfectly. Beautiful singer for Happy Birthday song. All the staff were so attentive - professional and joyful. Very impressive. 4 people had the steak and 1 had the chicken parmigiana. We also had mushrooms and fries. Delicious everything
Hospitality is by far the best I have ever experienced in any restaurant. Steak & sides were very good. We got 6 steaks for 11 people and it worked out perfectly. Best side we had was the Lobster mac & cheese and runner up was the seafood mix, both were great! Everyone had a great time. The desserts were nothing to brag about the the overall experience was great so no points lost for this visit. Definitely put this on your list to come here. We will definitely be back!
We decided to grab some midday food here on a Saturday. Each employee demonstrated friendliness and character. The restaurant has gradually become essential. The portion size matches what you expect. Another meal here is definitely happening.
We absolutely loved this restaurant not only for their restaurant week dinners but above all the service! A gentleman named Dino was one that left a mark on our lives for good! He went above and beyond to host us, make our evening there an unforgettable one and gave extra care to our precious daughter who fell ill and our little one who was up past his bedtime! Truly the restaurants greatest asset indeed! The atmosphere was very nice and peaceful filled with an aroma to open anyone’s appetite! Highly recommend! We will most certainly be back!
We decided to try this place, after passing by it several times, and noticing how beautiful it was. The reviews were stellar and we gave it a try. OMG it very much exceeded our expectations in terms of food, service, atmosphere—everything. We plan to come back many more times when we are in New York again. It is such a pleasant change from the super loud, super crowded steakhouses throughout the city, and the food is equivalent. We are sooo happy with our choice to go there. Wonderful!
Only had time for one steak session in NYC and I’m so happy I came here. Staff were super courteous (aside from the female hostess at the door - she was super unbothered, not nice and should not be the first point of interaction when you get into the restaurant) Aside from that, the food was excellent. Caesar salad was tasty, they had a good wine list, and we ordered the steak for 2 to share between 3, and even that was a lot for us. So for anyone visiting NYC and maybe not used to portions, the steak for 2 was very large! Would definitely come back.
Great food , great customer service Dino the manager is present and heavily involved engaging with the patrons i highly recommend this establishment
I came here for NYC Restaurant Week, they had a prefix menu of an appetizer, entree, dessert, and a bottle of wine. We chose the Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon. I had the Ribeye steak cooked medium with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The steak was cooked perfectly and they even have their own Ben & Jack Steak sauce which was pretty tasty. Great service while we were seated and the chocolate mousse cake was great as well! Great experience and will probably return for another steak!
We were looking for a place to grab dinner near our hotel and at first we were skeptical from the photos we saw in previous reviews. That was not the case. Service was attentive and consistent from the start and carried on throughout our dinner. The food was indeed immaculate, the atmosphere was comforting, the cocktails were excellent and the food was even better. We ordered the “steak for 2” which consisted of half filet half sirloin, our sides were sautéed broccoli, and mashed potatoes. We were served our food at the table, in a classic french serving style, for a first time it was strange but intriguing at the same time. At the end we were too full for dessert but we will definitely be back again in the near future for that and more!
We had our corporate holiday dinner at Ben and Jacks. From the expertly prepared steaks, to the very professional waitstaff, to the party planner fielding all our questions and special needs, it’s no wonder why we came back a second year. Mashed potatoes are to die for! Nancy C, New York
We held a family and friends event for 20 at Ben & Jack's last Saturday night and it was excellent from every aspect. They prepared a wonderful menu for us with wide range of choices for our guests. The food was absolutely delicious and prepared perfectly, the service staff was outstanding, doting on everyone making sure every one of our guests had everything they needed and they were highly attentive to us throughout the whole event which made everyone feel very welcome and so happy to be there. The table they put in place was configured so that we could all see and talk to one another which was wonderful. As a result we were really able to celebrate the occasion and chat with one another while we enjoyed an amazing meal. Everyone had a great time Thank you to the staff, chefs, bartenders and restaurant manager for making sure we had such a wonderful night and taking such great care of our family and friends.
Great is all we can say for our recent 22 person anniversary party. The food was was wonderful with outstanding selections for the appetizer, entry and desert. The steaks were delicious. Add in the incredible service from the entire staff from the beginning of the evening until the end. The staff was attentive, warm and friendly and accomdated all of our needs and requests. They were out in front of what we needed. The process started from the time we first met to plan the party to each step along the way. Everyone was kind and considerate and worked to understand what we needed, how we needed it and how best to provide it. They did all that and even more. If you are looking for a place for a party of any size you will be happy you went to Ben and Jack's. We certainly are glad we did. The feedback from all our friends was this was the best for food, service and atmosphere. Book now and don't miss a really fun time.
This family-owned steakhouse in Midtown Manhattan is an absolute standout. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. The steaks are cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and easily some of the best I’ve had in the city. Everything from the sides to the desserts feels crafted with care. If you’re looking for an unforgettable meal in Midtown, this place is truly the best.
Our dine-and-learn organizer from work selected this fancy steakhouse, and we saw the reason why. Upon check-in, we were escorted to the basement area of the restaurant, where a few private event rooms are located. For appetizers, we were served thick-cut Canadian bacon, fried calamari with marinara sauce, and fresh mozzarella with beefsteak tomato. It was then followed by Caesar salad, and I selected a medium-well filet mignon served with sautéed broccoli, spinach, and mashed potatoes. We capped the night with an assorted dessert platter of fruits, cheesecakes, and chocolate cake. For work events, I found their system very efficient and very event-oriented. The staff are close by and available if you need anything. I will come back to this place to try other dishes on their menu.
I made my husband a "Surprise Birthday" party at Ben and Jack's. To say that EVERYTHING was perfect doesn't even cover it. The service, attention to detail and food were absolutely delicious. There is NOT one complaint. Thank you to the staff - Kiera (Party Coordinator), Dino (Manager) and Jerry (our head waiter for the evening). Our guests have been calling us to compliment the evening.
Loved loved the food there. Had a NewYork tenderloin steak and lamb chops with garlic butter mashed potatoes and spinach. Bang on! Had a good collector drinks and I enjoyed my Basil Haydon with the food. Service was excellent and done with grace and pleasent smiles. Would recommend the place for sure.
We came here for a friends birthday and Ben & jacks did not disappoint. I’ve been to the many steak houses across NYC this place can compete with the best of them. The Porterhouse for three was perfectly season the char was fantastic and the temperature did not disappoint we asked for medium rare few pieces were strongly rare some medium but it wasn’t a big deal for anyone that grills big pieces of steak we understand that different parts reach the desired temperature at different times. We ordered the thick cut bacon which was crispy and tender. The crème brûlée was awful but that’s okay not a turn off for me. I will be back.
This place is one of the top places for a steak. I had the bacon for starter. It was crispy on the outside and so succulent on the inside. They make it extra thick. And it is fabulous. For mains I had the ribeye on the bone. A 20oz steak. Both oh boy was that amazing or what?! All I cab say, get there as your first priority steakhouse and you wouldn't regret it. One more thing, it is a very short walk to Grand Central Station.
I had an amazing experience at Ben & Jack’s Steakhouse Express! After a long day at work, this was exactly what I needed. The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The service truly stood out. The bartender, George, and our waiter, Besim, were both incredibly hospitable and kind. They made sure everything was just right and created such a welcoming atmosphere. The hostess at the front was warm and professional, and the manager even took the time to ensure I was properly serviced despite it being busy — which I really appreciated. Overall, a 5-star experience from start to finish. Great food, great service, and a great team. I’ll definitely be back!
Came here for Valentines Day and we had a great experience! For starters, we were sat as soon as we walked in and the service was fast. We were in and out within 1 hour and we ordered a 3 course meal. Food came out so fast and everything was cooked to perfection! The restaurant is so cozy & nice on the inside. I would definitely recommend and would come back again :)
Gjergj (George) very nice bartender really nice. Outstanding service at the bar. The bartender was attentive without hovering, knowledgeable about the menu, and clearly skilled at their craft. Each drink was balanced, well-presented, and thoughtfully made, not rushed. They offered great recommendations and made the entire experience feel elevated and welcoming. You can tell they take pride in what they do. Easily one of the highlights of the evening, and a big reason I’ll be returning.
Best as steakhouse I've ever been to worldwide. This is my gold standard. Better than lugers. Whenever I'm in town this is on my list. Only get the porterhouse steak. This is what they do. My order is to start with bacon, porterhouse steak for 2/3 of my party size rounded up, shrimp cocktail, their fries are amazing, something green like asparagus. I'm not a cream spinach fan , but theirs is top notch. Make sure to get their fresh potato chips and a perfect cocktail before you start.
We got the lunch menu for $45, which is the best value in New York City for what you got I got a salad for a starter. I then got the filet mignon which was fantastic and accompanied by mashed potatoes and broccoli. I then got a New York Cheesecake and coffee. Fantastic food and amazing value. Thank you guys!
Ben & Jack’s is the truth and their lunch menu deserves a massive shout out. Considering Manhattan prices, it’s so affordable! My friends and I had a little bit of everything. Dino was incredible as well as the hostess. I highly recommend coming here and trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
An exceptional meal. Debated the regular ribeye or Cajun ribeye… went with waiter’s recommendation and went Cajun. Perfectly done…Great choice! Best lobster Mac and cheese ever…..Wine, the only picture I took tonight, excellent….I need to remember that one. On to dessert, carrot cake, not usually my thing, but wow! Chocolate mousse…. Light and great….Overall a great spot!
I've enjoyed visiting Ben and Jack's for several years now and I'm happy to say it's a staple. I'm picky when it comes to meat, but not only does their selection of meat include a tomahawk, but they have a steak sauce I can easily say is my favorite across all the kinds I've had. It easily beats Peter Luger's. Not only is it a steakhouse first, there is a selection of other dishes I appreciate a lot. Not a big meat eater? There is a solid menu of fish and shellfish, and while not expansive, has some of the best selections. I do like Yellowtail a lot. I cannot recommend this place more between its good ambience, good service, and good good. They also have their own butter, really creamy and light. Just top notch for any group meal, fancy, special events, or just dinner. Or lunch, I don't judge.
I went here for their Thanksgiving Menue which was a three course pre fix meal. It was incredibly filling and delicious! The staff is very attentive. Quiet atmosphere but that may have been due to the Holiday! Must go back and try a steak! They looked and smelled incredible! I went back for their Christmas Menue. I ordered Baked Clams that wewr the sorriest tiny clams that were routed and very difficult to get the full flavor. I ordered Rack of Lamb Medium Rare. I got four lamb chops, 2 that melted in your mouth, medium rare and 2 that were medium and overcooked. Desert was a sliver of chocolate moose cake. Not impressed!
Our waiter, Besim & Dino- the host were great even though they were very busy. Many large groups during the holidays. The waiters were literally running to & from the kitchen. Large wine list. Good dessert menu! Staff is dressed very upscale. Old school decor.
First time at this marvelous steakhouse. Dinner was amazing. We had porterhouse for two done to perfection served old school style on a sizzling platter. We ordered sides of cream spinach, and crispy fries. Oh let’s not forget the French onion soup it was the best we had in a long time. We have been to a few upscale steak houses here in the city, but Ben & Jacks tops them all. We will be back. 5 stars
We recently hosted an event at Ben & Jack’s, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. The team was very accommodating and easy to work with, making the planning process smooth and stress-free. They were flexible with the changes we needed to make to the setup, which was a huge help. On the day of the event, the staff were attentive, professional, and made sure everything ran seamlessly. The food and drinks were enjoyed by everyone. The staff was amazing. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I would highly recommend Ben & Jack’s for anyone planning a gathering or event.
Loved the food and hospitality at this friendly steakhouse near Grand Central owned by Peter Luger veterans. Their signature Porterhouse, Cajun Steak (off the menu), Maple Bourbon Bacon, and Seafood Pasta (w/ mega lobster claw) were some of my favorites. I highly recommend it for group dining so you can try a bit of everything.
The lunch prix fix menu was great. The wait staff was very friendly. The manager was a bit pretentious. He should let his staff do what they do best. He took our order and got it wrong. The meal was still good just not what I ordered. The specialty cocktails were delicious after a long day of walking.
We had the french onion soup, steak, lamb, cheesecake and chocolate moose cake. The steaks were cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. The desserts were also very good. The wait staff were so sweet and really welcoming. The only reason I didn’t give this restaurant a 5 rating was because of the decor. It was a bit outdated.
Chef Admir and his team execute classic steakhouse dishes to perfection at this midtown east restaurant. The highlights include bourbon glazed bacon, dry-aged steaks (Cajun style offered off the menu), a burger, and the surprisingly excellent sesame crusted yellow fin tuna. The service here is excellent as well.
Everything was amazing the atmosphere, food, drinks, service. The only reason for 4 stars I asked for my rib eye to be well done and there was pink which i could taste the difference. I'm not a fan of medium well so I ate the end pieces that were well done and took the rest home to cook it in my oven. I heard too many stories sending food back to the kitchen and they don't do anything or spit on it. Lobster mac and cheese was super delicious even a day later. They'd get 5 stars had my main attraction, the steak was done right.
The service is outstanding! They treat us with grace. The oysters are fresh but I didn’t feel sea water sense when I ate it. Steak for two is big for us and that’s terrific but maybe next time we should order medium rare instead of medium because the hot dish cooked steak when we left it on the dish. Overall is good.
The is a nice and airy steak house. The bar was hopping and restaurant section was busy but socially distanced. The wait staff was attentive. The food was delicious. The steaks and lamb chop were perfectly cooked and juicy. The desserts were the only thing that did not impress us. The whipped cream with each dessert nor the desserts were tasty. They were bland. We had the choc mouse, carrot cake and cheesecake.
This steakhouse was a wonderful dining experience. The food and the atmosphere was fantastic. Cash and credit are both accepted. Parking was a bit difficult with metered street parking, but free after 7pm. The staff was friendly and charming. This is more of a fine dining establishment but no issues with dress code. 2/2023
We visited during restaurant week for dinner. I started with the grilled clams, which tasted good, but unfortunately, many of them had sand inside and were not well cleaned. The dry-aged steak was delicious—crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The cheesecake was also good, perfectly balanced and not too sweet. However, the service was slow; I had to ask twice for Dijon mustard and horseradish, and it took a while before they brought it to our table, even though the restaurant wasn't busy at 6 PM. Additionally, the wine deal was disappointing at $50 a bottle. We had the Cabernet Sauvignon, which was average and lacked complexity. It didn't seem worth the price, especially since many other restaurants offer $30 bottle deals during restaurant week.
The customer service is exceptional! Atmosphere is decent. Ribeye and chicken Parmesan were just average unfortunately. The creamed spinach was amazing though 🙂
Decent steak restaurant in midtown. The steaks themselves were pretty good: good cuts, cooked to order, and delicious. The appetizers and sides were OK; the lobster bisque wasn't the best but still tasted good. The service was very good. If looking for just pure steaks I'd recommend this place, but otherwise you may want to try more specialized restaurants.
Went with a group for lunch. Ordered a steak and 3 burgers and it took a while. Which is expected since the burgers were so thick. But for $18 per burger, I was expecting more flavor. It was so bland, I didn't taste any seasoning at all. I felt the side of fries had more seasoning than the burger itself. The server also seemed annoyed since our group came in at different times. Other than that, seemed like a nice, clean place. The hostess was very nice and the bar looked like it had a lively crowd for a Tuesday lunch hour.
The pictures you see of the food, doesn't match flavor. The only item that lived up to the hype was the steak
Came here before for restaurant week. This time around, not as great as the last time. Service was okay, we came during lunch and the restaurant was not packed. They got one of our orders incorrectly. Ordered the filet mignon petit and they gave the sirloin instead. Shrink-flation really hit their desserts.
I had dinner here with friends and family. The place was nice. The staff was very friendly. The food, however, was just ok for the price. The appetizers were delicious. They had a great wine list. The porterhouse steaks, which were supposed to be the stars of the evening, were mediocre. The cook on the steaks was inconsistent. On our side of the table, the steak was cooked alright. On the other side of the table, they were a bit overcooked or not as tender. Flavor-wise, it was the same. Our steaks were good enough not to require sauce. The other side was the opposite. All-in-all, the place was alright. It is a good spot, if you have the wallet for it.
The more expensive the food is for them to purchase, the less impressive it is. For instance, the bread and Caesar salad are wonderful. The filet is subpar compared to other New York steakhouses as are the sides (mashed potatoes were unfortunate and the fries were too hard on the inside and rather tasteless). Sirloin is also just ok. Wouldn’t advise a martini either as it uses artificial sweeteners and you can taste the difference- not restaurant, never mind bar, quality. Pretty place inside and a decent location but several items you’re better off going elsewhere.
We had a chance to visit this establishment during our new years visit. I was not impressed at all. We had multiple servers 1st of all the menu is nothing special either I ordered the filet which was chewy although I had it well done which I do everywhere it was tougher than it should have been, for sides we did mash potatoes due to their super limited side options for the price it was not worth it there are much better options! I would highly recommend Captial Grill price is a bit less but service is outstanding the side menu salad options are amazing there is a large variety of steak options, I had the filet there as well, well done and it was like butter very soft. Overall I would not recommend this restaurant dur to menu service and price.
First time here, visiting from Florida! The food was amazing, steak cooked perfectly, the buttery mashed potatoes were delicious!! The cocktails were very good as well! Unfortunately the service was not. I was expecting that crazy good service, especially from a high end place like this and was so excited to go only to be super disappointed on that end. We sat for a good 20/25 minutes before even being greeted or brought menus, barely saw out waiter in between and then never saw him again after ordering until he walked by and handed us the check. very disappointing, especially when there was only two of us.
I wish there was an option to put 3.9 stars because it was almost a 4. This steakhouse is decent. Only issue I have was off the start the bread was hard as a rock. This was also the first time I’ve been to a “prime steakhouse” and the waiter used a note pad to take the order for 2 people. Kind of strange for an upscale place. Calamari was very good, oysters on point. Now the steak was good, phenomenal crust. German potato’s need a little help because they are a little dry. Possibly adding sautéed onions would help. I kept using the butter from the steak to moisten them up. But all and all a good experience. If those minor things could get updated there’s no reason this place couldn’t be a 4.5 star place in my book. Dessert also very good
*word to the wise - don’t go to a steak house that automatically places steak sauce on the table!!!! Good steak shouldn’t need sauce! Items ordered: 1. Oysters = 9/10 - fresh, but cocktail sauce tasted like their steak sauce 2. Calamari = 7/10 - texture was good but marinara sauce was subpar, lacked flavor 3. Bacon steak = 1/10 - so tough and difficult to cut - hard to eat 4. Ceasar salad = 5/10 - standard, nothing special - no anchovies or offered cracked pepper.. that was on the table for us to serve ourselves 5. Mac N Cheese = 2/10 - kinda chalky, same noodles as Kraft Mac n cheese without the delicious taste of Kraft Mac n cheese 6. Brussels sprouts = 0/10 - over cooked mushy with tough bacon chucks unable to bit through - flavorless - lacking in everything 7. Tomahawk ribeye steak $225 = tasted frozen, came on burnt black plate, ordered MR but the outside was well done and inside was barely rare.. they seared the steak on the burnt plate that overcooked it - flavorless and not how we ordered it - definitely not an AGED STEAK! 8. 2x glasses Sauv Blac - OK 9. 2x glasses Pinot Nior - OK Service: never cleared breadcrumbs from table and tried to take plates before we were done. Final bill: $450 + tip - was wishing we went to Morton’s instead - we tried to not go to a chain restaurant but was disappointed ** all in all, we expected a lot more from a $500 dinner - especially from a place that was recommended -
The water is delicious. Nice baked clams. The steak was tasteless and undercooked. The broccoli was too tough to eat. The cheese cake and chocolate mousse were made with cool whip. Thought I was getting good food for the price I paid.
recently ate at Ben & Jack’s Steakhouse in NYC as a walk-in. The place is really beautiful, and the hostess was friendly and welcoming, which gave a great first impression. The food also came out quickly. The salad was amazing along with their mac & cheese. Unfortunately, our waiter ruined the experience. He was rude, short-tempered, and made us feel judged the entire time. While I was still ordering, he took the menus away without asking, which felt uncomfortable and unprofessional. On top of that, I ordered my steak medium and it came out rare and didn’t taste good. For a steakhouse with this kind of reputation, I expected much better service and food. Overall, it was disappointing, and I wouldn’t return based on this visit.
Meat is tender but is pretty bland. Portion sizes for appetizers are laughably small. Free bread was nice but it tasted like nothing (and so did the butter). Service was friendly but I absolutely HATE when waiters put the food down on the table then start serving you. Like, hello? I can do that myself. Doing that makes me feel like I’m a child who can’t serve himself. It honestly ruined a good deal of my experience here. Couldn’t even take a nice photo of the food since the waitstaff immediately started throwing it on my plate. Also just to top it off, I asked for medium rare and the meat was rare.
When you order scallops you expect to be served ones which are nicely seared, gold and brown, but that’s not the case with Ben and Jacks! They will serve you black ones cooked from a dirty pan and for a bonus they come with water running in the plate like they still in the ocean, Dreadful!
Save yourself the trouble and do not eat here. My family and I went to this specific steakhouse, despite all of the competition. We decided to go to this one because of the wonderful reviews. We were very disappointed. The employees acted terrible, so slow. I asked for several items that I did not receive. The steak was cooked horribly wrong. The French onion soup was full of salt. Whenever I spoke to the general manager he laughed in my face, and said it was impossible that my food was not made correctly because he owns a very successful restaurant. He tried to charge me for a glass of water, I said that’s fine but I’ll simply dispute it on my credit card. He waded up the receipt and told me to leave, very loudly. The server ran out the door and asked where his tip was. Such rude people
Friends and I went here on Sunday as the restating was recommended by our hotel - we were excited to dine at the establishment; however upon arrival after being seated immediately and greeted by our waitress - service quickly declined - got drinks but the server never came back to our table to take orders and one waiter even much snatched a menu off our table from one of our guest and gave it to another table - we immediately seek management and explained how unprofessional the one waiter acted towards our table, we offered to paid for our drinks and informed the management that we were leaving the restaurant because of how our party was treated, we then went to Albert’s where we were much welcomed and serviced with grace! Please do not visit this location, the waiters all rude, don’t waste your monies here!
