Opinions de Bocca di Bacco New York
A beautiful and well decorated Italian restaurant that has THE BEST Al dente pasta I’ve ever had. You want past? You only come here… a Friday night dinner was complete with the most tasteful and authentic taste of Italian cuisine. We had the mushroom saffron risotto, penne pesto, Bronzino, insalata, eggplant pasta. Dessert was the perfect cherry on top with a chocolate lava cake and pears sautéed with red wine sauce. Highly recommend this restaurant if you want to taste the best pasta in NYC.
Giorgio was our waiter and bartender - such a lovely Christmas Eve lunch. Very nice drink. Superb service. I love the pasta we had. I will be back again!
First time i came with my family for Thanksgiving dinner.. Amazing, delicious food. And the Pumpkin pie was out of this world.. (just an FYI, I don't like Pumpkin pie or any kind of pies) I tried this pie and OMFG... I wanted more of this Amazing dessert.. hands down to the chef.. 👌🏻👌🏻 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Food was absolutely outstanding. The staff were accommodating and very friendly. The lighting was a little too dark but the atmosphere was otherwise cosy and comfortable. I will be returning at the first opportunity I get!
Best bread in town! But you can’t go wrong with anything on this menu! David was our waiter and was so great! The ambience, the location, and THE BREAD!!! I will definitely be returning!
We came here looking for some good Italian food while out exploring the city and it didn't disappoint. Service was great, atmosphere was great, and food was excellent. Portions are on the larger size which was great but we left stuffed. We started with the Mediterranean salad which was fresh and very tasty. My husband got the steak and frites. Steak was cooked perfect and had good flavor. The fries were unexpectedly delicious. Crisp but not fried out and just the right amount of salt. I got the chicken Parmigiano. Very good. Everything you would want and expect. Delicious and huge serving. We also got a 1/2 order of the cacio e pepe. So good!! We left very full and very satisfied. Thank you!
Just returned and this wonderful venue moved to a larger space and lost the intimacy. It was quite noisy and even the food went downhill. Casual and intimate Italian restaurant in Hell's Kitchen with great food. We enjoy their fresh tomato bruschetta with grilled Italian bread and order the Octopus or fresh crab cake appetizers to start. The Bronzino with grilled vegetables is my go to, but the Spinach Gorgonzola Gnocchi and Rigatoni entrees are delicious. Nuncio is a terrific waiter if you're lucky enough to get him. Finish with espresso and if you have room, try the Ricotta cheesecake.
This was my first time dining at this establishment and it was lovely! The atmosphere is cozy as soon as you enter and the service was amazing. Giovanni was a complete gentleman and he was so fun to speak with. Eduardo was great in making sure that my sister and I were okay. The food and drinks were high quality and nothing was left on the table. I’m definitely coming here again to have brunch.
We love this location of Bocca di Bacco. Foodnis always excellent, and service impeccable. The Fusilli Norcia is a family favorite and the seasonal dessert Il Mandarino was incredible! Salvatore took generous care of our family. We will return again and again.
Amazing food and incredible service!!! Gonzalo, the general manager, was super sweet, and our server Salavatore did a great job too! We'll definitely be coming back 🤍
Service was outstanding. Our server was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, polite, prompt and extremely attentive without hovering nearby our table. The food was authentic, delicious, generous in portion, and served at the perfect temperature. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming as was the Hostess. We found this Italian gem by reading reviews on multiple websites and it's stellar reviews are well deserved and well earned.
Excellent meal as always at Boca de Bacco! Quick efficient friendly service from Salvatore. Salmon Oreganata was bellisimo! We will be back!
Had a blast at Bocca. The ambiance is beautiful, attentive service and great portions. The calamari was super fresh and the Ahi tuna tartare was out of this world. The lamb chops was seasoned well and the pasta carbonara, I couldn’t get enough. The table side tiramisu was beautifully presented and very unique to other tiramisu I had in the past. Great spot for birthday, date night and/group get together.
Our Central Park Carriage driver recommended this place and it’s a great find. Beautiful decor, great service and delicious food. One of my favorites is Gnocchi and it was perfect. We missed the crowd and were seated right away but halfway through our meal, most of the tables were full.
Really great experience coming here with my partner, it was a belated birthday diner for her and she loves Italian food, she spent several years there cumulatively and she is very critical of Italian places and she said this place was definitely authentic as they didn't have any Alfredo options which apparently only Americanized Italian places have haha The servers were amazing! We shared the calamari which was super good, I got the breakfast carbonara which was hands down amazing 👏 She got the Fettuccine bolognse which we both shared each other's dishes and we both liked everything, Got the Tiramasu for desert and they did the birthday candle/sparkler with ice cream which was super awesome! Altogether it was about 125$ for the 2 of us but the atmosphere and service was amazing and will come back here if ever in the city again. See photos of everything if curious!
I had an incredible experience at this restaurant, celebrating our engagement that had just happened, and Fernando and Jesus made it unforgettable! Their customer service was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and truly made us feel special. The food was outstanding, exceeding all expectations. They went above and beyond to make our celebration even more memorable. I can’t recommend this place enough! If I could give more than five stars, I absolutely would. Thank you, Fernando and Jesus, for making our experience amazing!
I needed some place to dine in for a quick dinner until we wait for our daughters show at the aileys. I didn't have high expectations as there was no long wait time on Sunday night. Pleasantly surprised with the attentive service and great foods. I also appreciated they offer FREE filtered water which is very hard to find. Our dinner special of lobster and shrimp pasta was amazing. My parents are very picky when it comes to outside foods and we were all pleased. Would love to visit again for our next show.
love Bocca di Bacco in Chelsea — it’s consistently good and never disappoints. The chicken piccata is easily the best thing on the menu: perfectly cooked, super tender, and the lemon-caper sauce has the right balance without being too heavy. I’ve tried other dishes, but I always end up going back to the piccata because it’s just that solid.
We ordered from this restaurant through Uber Eats. I had the Ravioli Aragosta (with lobster), and my husband ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara. Everything was very tasty, and we really enjoyed the food. When it arrived, it was only slightly warm, but that was an Uber Eats issue, not the restaurant’s fault. Overall, everything was great. Thank you!
This place seemed to be always crowded every time we passed by it. Not for nothing… our 1st visit here was 5 star from start to finish. Super friendly & professional staff clicking in a team effort. At least 4 different people approached our table to make sure everything was fine, offer drinks, Parmesan cheese or to chit chat to find out if we had any requests. The food… culinary artistry at its finest. Best Moscow Mules I have ever had. Everything was clearly fresh & perfectly prepared to order. I look forward to returning to try other items on the menu. ( My wife’s Calamari rating was an 8) out of 10
The sauces are so good here, you will need an extra serving of bread for any dish you order, just to soak up what remains. Pastas are excellent. Mussels appetizer was excellent. Tiramisu is served with flair and style, and flavor that makes it a stand out. Service was excellent. Excellent, excellent, excellent. It's hard to fault the place for anything, except the price. But that's NYC these days. In terms of value, I'd happily do this again. Delicious!
We had such a wonderful experience after our show! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, but what truly made the night special was David, our waiter. He treated us with so much kindness and attention, making us feel completely at home. Every detail was perfect — from his recommendations to the timing of the service. As a couple, it was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had. Thank you, David, for making our night unforgettable!
My son treated me for my birthday and this place excelled in every way. David was so attentive, professional, courteous, and respectful. They sang me Happy Birthday and made me a beautiful Fresh tiramisu in front of me. It was great and the food was amazing.
Amazing decor and food. Stumbled on this restaurant while trying to decide on a place to eat, and moody decor and clean feel really drew us in. The food was amazing. The squid ink pasta with crabmeat had large chunks of crab, and is a must try. Our server was very friendly and suggested drinks. They hit the spot and were quite strong (not a complaint 🤣) Highly recommend this spot if you’re in the area, the squid ink pasta might even be worth going out of your way for!
Great stop before a show and plenty to choose from, with attentive staff and service. We started with the mushroom fontina bruschetta and the Caesar salad. The salmon over figs was amazing and the lamb chops were some of the best I have ever had. We finished with espresso and the profiteroles.
Had a great time celebrating my mother’s birthday here! The food and drinks were a 10/10. We had David as our waiter and he was great as well!
Bocca di Bacco was absolutely amazing. I practically had to roll out the door. Service was top notch and truly the reason you Tip Your Waiter. David and all the staff were so attentive. One even noticed my boyfriend drop his napkin while he was bussing and immediately brought him a replacement. Overall laid back atmosphere and a place I 100% will visit again when in NYC.
On a price-value curve, I give this place five stars. Brought a group here and everyone enjoyed the food. Food. The service was friendly and responsive. The table agreed the lasagna is the best dish on the menu. The other things we had included the squid ink pasta, calamari, and tiramisu. I would definitely come back here.
We had a delightful dinner and will return frequently! Christina the hostess greeted us warmly and Salvatore our server was very informative with the specials and making sure we had everything we needed¡ we had the pear salad and steak flutes and both were outstanding; truly a wonderful experience.
Nice atmosphere, courteous, attentive staff, great Italian food. We cane on a weekday night and did not need reservations. It's a little dark in the restaurant but you get used to it after a while. The chicken Parmigiana, Caesar Salad, calamari, and beef short ribs were all very good, as were the profiteroles for dessert.
Came here because another restaurant we wanted to go to is no longer there. Glad We did! Very good food and service from David. Would recommend!
Our first time here & it was a joy! Beautiful ambiance, delicious dishes, & the service was exceptional! We had the short ribs & chicken parm — recommend both! The Mt. Etna white wine was delicious. We both said, “We should have ordered the bottle!” Massive thank you & praise to our waiter, Giovanni! Friendly, hospitable, as well as above & beyond. As an Italian-American, it was beautiful to use & hear the Italian language in the restaurant. It makes it feel like an authentic experience! Can’t wait to come back for dinner & brunch. Pro tip: get the espresso martini! Grazie mille! ❤️❤️
I had an absolute amazing dinner here. Service and hospitality was phenomenal from the Manager, to our Server Ulises and even right to the table support. Food was Hot and delicious. A must try and definitely coming back! Thank you!
Recently celebrated a birthday dinner here with a large group of friends. The food was excellent, and the experience was made even better by the five-star service from Salvatore, who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for our table. He was attentive, warm, and incredibly gracious throughout the evening. It made the celebration feel truly special.
The service was EXCELLENT! This was my first time ever eating at this restaurant and I loved it. The food was so good, I ordered the spaghetti carbonara 10/10! It was also my birthday and they served me a cute cake and sang happy birthday to me. After we ate they gave us a free mango prosecco drink. The staff were very nice and served us like queens. This place was also very aesthetically pleasing and fancy.
Bocca di Bacco in Hell’s Kitchen is easily one of the best Italian spots in the area. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels warm, lively, and authentically Italian without being overly formal. The staff is incredibly attentive and welcoming, making the whole experience feel special from start to finish. The food is absolutely outstanding. Everything tastes fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The pasta dishes are especially impressive — perfectly cooked and full of rich, authentic flavor. You can tell a lot of care goes into every plate that comes out of the kitchen. What really stood out was how well everything was balanced: great service, a beautiful cozy atmosphere, and incredible food. Whether you’re going for a date night, dinner with friends, or celebrating something special, Bocca di Bacco delivers a memorable experience. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to. Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic Italian food in Hell’s Kitchen!
Our first visit to Bocca di Bacco was an absolute standout, largely thanks to the exceptional service from Giorgio. From the moment we arrived, Giorgio was incredibly inviting and clearly knew the menu inside and out. Since we were sharing a meal, we really appreciated how he took the time to optimize our order. He didn't just suggest popular dishes; he curated a selection that paired perfectly together, ensuring the flavors complemented each other across the entire table. It’s rare to find a server so knowledgeable and genuinely invested in the guest experience. To the management: Giorgio is a fantastic asset to your team and a huge reason why we’ll certainly be back. Highly recommend asking for his section if you want a perfectly guided Italian lunch (or brunch or dinner)!
David at Bocca di Bacco delivered one of the best service experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment we sat down, he was attentive without being intrusive, professional but still warm and friendly. He clearly knows the menu well and made great recommendations that made the whole dinner experience better. What really stood out was his attention to detail. Our table was always taken care of, drinks never sat empty for long, and he checked in at the perfect moments without interrupting the flow of the meal. That balance is hard to get right, and David handled it effortlessly. You can tell he genuinely cares about the guest experience, not just going through the motions. Service like that makes a restaurant memorable. Bocca di Bacco is lucky to have him on the team.
A very good place for a weekday lunch. They offer a nice menu at $25 (from 12:00 to 4:00 PM), which includes a starter, a main course, and a dessert. I had tomatoes as a starter — very fresh and juicy — followed by carbonara, which was excellent. For dessert, I had tiramisu; the flavor was good, though the coffee taste was a bit too strong for me. The waitresses were a bit too intense at times, but overall the service was fine. I recommend it!
Our team of ten had a fantastic holiday lunch at Bocca di Bacco. Another restaurant turned us away despite a reservation, but Bocca di Bacco welcomed us immediately and sat us without hesitation. Service was excellent from start to finish. The pre-fixe lunch was a great value and every dish was delicious. The eggplant meatballs were a standout and would make any vegetarian happy. Pastas, salads, and appetizers were all fresh and well-prepared. Our server, Regine, was outstanding. She was attentive, friendly, and quick to accommodate special requests like my low-oil order. Bocca di Bacco turned a disappointing situation into an exceptional team lunch. Highly recommend for groups, great service, and consistently excellent food.
I’m giving this a 5 star because the food is so tasty, portions are decent, service and the atmosphere were very good. We went on a tuesday night and it wasn’t extremely busy but still had a full bar. I love that they give bread and olive oil straight away with any pretentious nature. Thank you to the bartender and staff who made our casual night something to remember.
Stopped in for a quick dinner at the bar and really enjoyed the experience. The Arancini was some of the best I have had. Great flavor, nice contrast in textures, and the red sauce was excellent. I also highly recommend the Rigatoni Vodka which is always a favorite of mine. Atmosphere and service was excellent. I look forward to stopping in again one day soon.
Bocca di Bacco is one of the best Italian restaurants in the city, probably the best if I'm being honest. We had the rigatoni alla vodka and the special: a lamb ragu pappardelle, both of which were amazing and great portion sizes and a solid price. The service was fantastic, especially given we were celebrating a birthday, but even on normal days everyone is extremely friendly and attentive, and in general service is fast. I'd highly recommend the rigatoni alla vodka, spaghetti carbonara, taglierini negro, or the rigatoni alla norma, as these 4 dishes are our personal favorites. Definitely give this place a visit, you won't regret it!

The service and food were excellent. They were able to accommodate a large party. There was also a good wine selection. The gnocchi was amazing.
Wonderful in every regard. Prompt, friendly, unobtrusive service, delicious food, great ambience. Highly recommend!
The food was excellent. The place looks absolutely amazing. The service is very quick and excellent. Loved the pasta some of the best pasta I have ever had
Our server David was very courteous. The food was great. We had pasta, crab cakes and a few drinks. I highly recommend. Look forward to coming again.
David was super attentive and personable. Will be back. We had the crab cakes and the rigatoni pasta. It was the best I’ve ever had.

Lovely experience with great service from Salvatore! I had the swordfish and a wonderful dessert. Wine was divine and great atmosphere too.
Surprisingly good New Years Eve dinner. Surprising because we just stumbled upon it just before all the reservations hit. Reasonably prized authentic Italian fare with great service. The Zuchini …
Started with cocktails - Limoncello Spritz and the Bocca Aperol Spritz. Bread and a small plate of cheese, olives and pepperoni got us on our way. Dinner menu has good selection of appetizers. We tried the Arancini which was tasty with a red sauce and the Calamari Fritti which was enough to feed the four of us. The main courses were classic Italian dishes - spaghetti pomodoro, spaghetti carbonara, lasagna and gnocchi alla sorrentina. Al dente and flavorful. We did not have room for dessert but they gave us a small plate sampler with a cannoli and bite size cakes. Nice finish to a satisfying meal. Reasonably priced by New York standards. Staff was very good and a comfortable atmosphere. Able to have a conversation around the table. Well worth a visit
We started at the bar while waiting for our table. The bar tender was friendly and engaging but not overbearing and constantly in our conversation- just a really good bar tender. We all thought the Food was terrific! The Lamb shank was magnificent and a definite a recommendation. Ambience was great. Definitely worth a visit if you like Italian food.
Hidden Gem! I’m from Chicago so this place was perfect. Similar to spots we have out there. Service was great. We had more than one person servicing us. They’d check up on us often which is a big plus. Clean and immaculate atmosphere. Cozy elegant vibes. Bathrooms are clean & is wheelchair accessible. A little pricey but that’s to be expected with the food quality. The mushroom truffle appetizer is to die for! The chicken parmigiana is tasteful and fulfilling. The wife had a squid ink pasta and she loved it. I definitely recommend this place.
Really lovely no frills Italian in Hells Kitchen. Came on a Thursday night and we immediately loved the ambiance.. a nice modern interior. Starters were good.. nothing to rave about.. pasta though was really great.. i tried the bolognaise and the lasagne and i would say go for the lasagna! Lovely wine and dessert also. Only down side was having to ask for parmesan.. will defo come back with Parents or for a mid week treat
We returned to Bocca di Bacco but this time at the Hell's Kitchen location. We previously enjoyed our meal many moths ago. This location seems much larger but filled quickly for evening meal after we arrived around 5 pm (we had an evening theatre performance to attend). We were quickly seated at a two top along the street window wall. Should you head to the toilet to wash as I did be warned that the first restroom you come to the water faucet has the hot and cold lines switched - boy was the hot water extremely hot. We selected a Caesar Salad and the Zucchini Fritti as starters. Our entrées included the Spaghetti Cacio & Pepe, and the Rigatoni Sicilian (I refer to this a Pasta Norma). After the starters arrived we were served a small pan of garlic onion rolls accompanied by a dish of olives, parmigiana chunks, and meat. For dessert we each had lemon sorbet. The meals were good but I have had much better Rigatoni Sicilian - an improvement would be changing the Rigatoni to Bucatini. The lemon sorbet was very flat and was more like a lemon ice in which the maker barely used any lemon. We saw other meal selections including a lobster and seafood combination that appeared as an impressive plate.
UPDATE - 8/4/24 Conveniently located in Hell’s Kitchen, some of us had an amazing experience a few weeks ago and decided to do a repeat performance for brunch today at this popular neighborhood establishment off of 9th Avenue. Reservations were easily made via Open Tables. My partner, our friends and I were greeted warmly by the staff upon arrival at Bocca di Bacco and led to a table for 9 in the back, whose interior is quite dark and the AC could have been a bit stronger. Not the deepest menu, but some solid options with enough for even a picky eater to find something they will want. We decided on the Cheeseburger, Omelet, Classic Benedict, Avocado Benedict, Fried Chicken & Belgian Waffles, Side of Bacon, and Side of Sausage from the weekend brunch. A basket full of petite muffins started our meal. Everything was perfectly prepared with fresh ingredients and brought out at the same time. All throughout our meal, we never felt rushed nor had to ask for extra water; it was always brought promptly by the staff. They were accommodating, and our server was Mynor. The portions were reasonable. Price-wise, it wasn’t cheap but was worth it. We continue to recommend this place. ————————- Located near Columbus Circle and Central Park in Hell’s Kitchen, this establishment is owned by brothers Enrico and Robert in collaboration with chef Kristen Sollenne. With three locations down 9th Avenue, it is a favorite spot for celebrities, tourists, and native New Yorkers alike. On the surface, Bocca di Bacco, translated “mouth of the wine god,” doesn’t look much different than any of those places. However, they are known for their exquisite Italian fare, intimate ambiance, incomparable hospitality, and robust wine selection. Reservation was easily made via Open Table around 12:15pm for Sunday lunch. So, my partner, our friends and I were seated right away as first-timers at this very tastefully decorated, cozy, and modern vibe where the tables were closed together. The interior is quite dark; one gets used to it after a while unless you opt for a table close to the front, which we did. Their menu was an extensive offering of small plates, fresh pastas, and tasty full-sized entrees with some vegetarian options. We decided on brunch and ordered Avocado Benedict, Fried Chicken and Belgian Waffles, Frittata Primavera, Rigatoni alla Vodka, and side of Truffle Fries. A basket full of petite muffins started our meal. The food was very fresh and well seasoned. The portions were perfect. It didn't put too much hurt on the wallet. The service was very good, not rushed, and our server was Carlos. One doesn’t have to go to Little Italy for a homemade pasta meal, and we can recommend this place.
I have been here 3 times and always get the Cacio e Pepe because its so good. Hard to get anything else when it hits every time! The Rigatoni vodka is also really good and drinks are amazing too. The inside is lively on a Saturday night. It did take us a while to get our food since it was pretty busy. Keep in mind if you have a reservation, they will only seat you if your whole party is present!
The atmosphere in here is very modern, chic Italian. Tables are a bit close together but it’s still an intimate dining experience. The food was very good, everything from the calamari to the homemade pasta to the delicious deserts. The service wasn’t horrible, but wasn’t great for the price point. Our waiter was a bit rude, but other wait staff who filled our drinks were attentive and friendly so not sure if our waiter was just having a bad day or what. Overall great experience!
Went yesterday which was a rainy day in nyc so the place was on the slow side . David our waiter was terrific . He was friendly and attentive and wore a white jackets which I thought was a very classy touch. We ordered the wagyu meatballs which were ok . My preference are meatballs made from beef /veal n pork.my wife ordered fettuccine bolognese which she said was one of the best she ever had. I ordered the rigatoni Siciliano which was also excellent . All there pastas are homemade . We also ordered cocktails which was my only knock on the place. Cocktails were $20 but beware if you chose Tito’s, grey goose or kettle one vodka it’s an additional $3. I added blue cheese olives in my martini also an additional $3. So basically my Tito’s martini with blue cheese olives was $26. Rather steep but your in NYC and btw the add on are clearly listed on the menu so I knew what it would cost except for the olives lol. Overall a very good experience and David continue what you are doing because you are doing it well .
We went as a family of four to the Chelsea restaurant. Really pretty inside, and quite large dining area. We were the first diners but as more people arrived they were all seated right around us which was odd, as there was so much space. I don't mind hearing others conversations but they were so loud and so close it just ruined what was a really nice ambience. That aside, the food was good without being excellent. Starters were huge and a main meal in themselves. There must have been 20 Calamari and 6 large meatballs as an example. No complaints from me there! The main meals needed more flavour as it was a little on the bland side. The Lasagne and Carbonara were OK, but definitely had better, so a little disappointed. The pizza was probably the best meal of the group. Cost was $250 which included a $50 bottle of wine. Overall it was good but not one I would book again.
Had a reservation and was sitting in our table within a few minutes. The staff were polite and attentive. Visited during NYC restaurant week on 1/31/26 they had a prix-fixe menu that offered an antipasti, entree and dessert which were all good portions and excellent flavors. The red bean soup was to die for specially on a cold winter night. The flavors exploded in my mouth. The bread bowl was perfect and the toasty bread gave it a nice balance. The Rigatoni vodka was delicious, creamy cooked to the right texture, had a spicy kick that I did not mind. The berry tart dessert with vanilla bean ice cream was light, smooth and not too sweet. Definitely will return again.
Came here for restaurant week to enjoy their 3 course pre fix and to celebrate a birthday and it was a wonderful experience. The food was delicious. I started off with the eggplant melanzane and I would come back just for that dish. For my second I ordered the chicken with potatoes in a pesto sauce very nice and juicy and the pesto was smooth didn’t overwhelm the rest of the dish. Dessert only had 2 options and based on my tables opinions of the two they could have been better. Our waiter David was very attentive and kept our table hydrated and full with bread when we asked for it. He was also nice enough to bring an extra dessert when he found out my sister had a black berry allergy. Overall it was an 8/10.
Met friends & friends of friends after ages over here in May 2025. Very nice place to hangout with friends & family but it’s a nightmare if you’re driving here on a Friday evening. Best to walk or get taxi. Perhaps I didn’t order right food…. Salad and eggplant something…. I did t relish it that much. Service is amazing and so is the atmosphere.
Went there for dinner. Had made reservation ahead of time so we were seated right away. Service as prompt and courteous. Our waiter forgot to get us bread but did when we asked. They have some …
We came for a couple drinks and appetizers around 5pm on a Tuesday. The wine selections were fine - both red and d white. We ordered some appetizers: calamari (which as fine), arancini ball, and bread. It may have been an office evening at the bar, but the few items we had were ok. I think we will need to visit another time and have a complete dinner experience
This place has a nice appearance on the inside. However it’s pretty dark inside so it makes taking photos of the restaurant quite hard. Also the music is pretty loud so it makes it hard to hear what someone is saying even from across the table. I got my order wrong simply because it was too loud for my server to hear my order. The food for my meal was still good. I also ordered the espresso martini and the Verry Berry. Both were vodka based but be wary of the Very Berry. I couldn’t taste the alcohol so I didn’t notice the impact until I stood up.
We were there for a pre-theater meal. We had learned of the place from friends who said it was very near the theater we were going to. We ordered a appetizer of calamari, a bit overly breaded for m…
Food and environment were fine. Service wasn’t. I don’t blame the time it took the appetizers or meals to come on anyone because when your busy your busy. However the bread shouldn’t come out after the appetizers, no butter or olive oil for the bread. Had to get the waiters attention to get refills of water and drinks. Never came over to ask how the meal was of or we needed anything. I purposely watched to see if he was super busy/overloaded….. nope just took his time, walked around talking to people (not his tables.
This was our third time visiting, and unfortunately we were very disappointed this time. They didn’t have bread available because it hadn’t been delivered, which was surprising during peak lunch hours. There was only one waiter serving the entire floor — he was clearly doing his best, but service was understandably very slow. We were also brought the wrong dessert. We didn’t even mention it because, given the delays, we felt correcting it would have taken a very long time. We’ve had better experiences here before, which makes this visit particularly disappointing. At this point, we’re honestly not sure we’ll be coming back.
My first time eating there and it was a disappointment because only one server and a limited kitchen staff. At the time I went, only 2 tables were occupied. It took nearly 10 minutes to get seated. After we got seated, the experience of eating at the restaurant went down hill. I wanted to leave the restaurant but my guests wanted to stay. I will NEVER eat there again!
Booked a table for 3 for a birthday. No table upon arrival, had to ask for both napkin and cutlery once seated. Main dish served before we were done with our cocktails. Default 18% tip added to bill.
Absolutely disappointed with the entire experience. We went for the prix fixe lunch, but the service was practically nonexistent. We had to call the server multiple times while he was sitting in the back having his coffee/tea. We originally ordered two steaks and a pasta, but one of my guests didn’t like the steak. Another server or busser was very kind and accommodated the change, switching the steak for a pasta. However, at the end of the meal, the steak was still charged on the bill. On top of everything, we were automatically charged a 20% service charge for service that simply wasn’t there. Truly a shame. Definetly not going back!
I hate to rate this restaurant this low because I have been eating the food since the “Film Center” days down in the lower 40s. I often order from their northern location on 9th avenue in the upper 50s. As prices have surged, I only order three or four times a year now. Today I ordered. The 38 dollars I spent on the Vongole and linguini were disappointing. There were two or three husked clams. The dish is usually filled with clams in the shell. The pasta tasted like dirty dish water must taste like. Nothing, not even gobs of parm cheese could cover the flavor, and vongole should have vongole. There was almost none. I tell you, the other dishes we ordered tonight were great. But I cannot believe that any chef would send out to any person to eat what they sent me tonight.
This was, without exaggeration, the worst brunch I’ve ever had. To be clear, this is not a knock on our server. He was clearly set up to fail. He was the only person working the floor, and honestly, the restaurant should not have been open for the holiday under these conditions. I made a reservation through Resy and even called ahead to confirm that brunch would be served on New Year’s Day, since it’s typically only offered on weekends. I left a voicemail and the owner herself called me back to confirm that brunch would indeed be available. When we arrived, the restaurant had no record of our Resy reservation, despite it being the platform they use. We were seated anyway, which I appreciated, but things went downhill quickly. We were handed brunch menus (with lunch on the reverse), only to be told when ordering that brunch was not being served. On top of that, there was no bartender, so we were limited to basic cocktails. We ordered food and a round of Aperol Spritzes, a very simple drink. It took over an hour for the drinks to arrive, and when they did, they were just glasses of prosecco with ice and an orange slice. No Aperol. We had to ask for Aperol on the side to turn them into the drink we actually ordered. The food took another hour. During that time, the kitchen bell rang repeatedly, and the cooks even came out to the dining room to see what was causing the delay. When the food finally arrived, it was deeply disappointing. This place is usually known for its spicy vodka rigatoni, but what we received was cold and tasted rushed and sloppy. I could go on, but the bottom line is this: the experience was a mess from start to finish. I’ve been here many times before and had good meals, which made this visit even more frustrating. I was embarrassed to have brought friends who traveled up from Brooklyn for this. There are plenty of better options in the area. Had we not already ordered, we would have left, as several other diners did. My guess is that staffing completely fell apart after New Year’s Eve, leaving one non-drinking server to deal with the chaos alone. I didn’t catch his name, but he deserves credit. Management, on the other hand, completely dropped the ball.
