Opinions de Cafe Luxembourg New York
Had dinner here last week before a show at the Beacon Theatre and had a fantastic meal. The seating is intimate but the service is wonderful. Our service was communicative with us from the moment we were seated, making sure to ask what time the show was so he can make sure we were served in an appropriate amount of time. My friends and I shared the Buffalo chicken dumplings and salmon tartare to start, both of which were perfect for sharing with great flavor. For my entree I had a special which was linguine and clams and it was the perfect serving size and hit the spot. My friends had the steak frites (incredibly flavorful), salmon entree, and lobster roll. We also ordered a side of fries to share and it was more than enough for 3-4 people with an assortment of dipping sauces. The drinks were fantastic as well.
Had an amazing dinner here with my daughter last week. It certainly lived up to all expectations with excellent food (steak followed by tarte citron), delightful service and a great atmosphere. I will be back next time I'm visiting my daughter!
Wonderful meal! Everything was cooked perfectly. Wide variety of options and lovely atmosphere.
My favorite place on the upper west side. The service cannot be beat and the food is wonderful. An absolute gem. I come here at least once a week, and it’s lovely to sit and have a nice meal with friends. The burger is amazing. The steak frites is great!
It was my 2nd time here on MLK Jr Day, and the staff were so nice and accommodating each time. Our waiter even asked my friend if she’d like her French fries well done, and I was surprised by the attention to detail. Every seasonal pasta I’ve tried here has been amazing, the duck ragu no exception. Their raspberry maple donut holes are a must try, even for someone without much of a sweet tooth like me. Looking forward to their spring menu!
First time here and sat at the bar where you can find amazing cocktails with high quality foods. French onion soup is by far the best I’ve had in the neighborhood. Ambience is nice with medium noise level, and awesome customer service! It’s perfect from date night to family dine out or friends gathering. And if you just want a quick premium cocktail, feel free to sit at the bar and look for Ryan. He will take good care of you! Will highly recommend this to anyone who loves French cuisine and high quality cocktails.
I’m not a native New Yorker, but I travel there once a week for work. I eat at holes in the wall.. I eat at fancy steakhouses… the whole gambit,. I get to see a lot of restaurants there. I don’t know what New York used to be but people talk about it like it’s a wasteland that and used to be a glimmering Metropolis. Café Luxembourg seems to be unchanged and hold standards of quality that made New York the legendary city that it used to be. There’s nothing about it that I would change.
This is one of my go to upper Westside lunch places. It is definitely more upscale and the food is delicious. My favorites are the country, frise salad, soup of the day, tuna, burger, and salmon tartare. Their regular burgers are excellent… And so are their fries. It’s a very NYC crowd always… And never a dull moment. The staff are on their toes and keeping the diners happy. If you want to eat there… You should make a reservation.
I remember when this place was fabulous and elite. Even though the neighborhood has changed significantly, Tim brought us back to the good old days. I sat at the bar and was warmly greeted. He made our night AMAZING. Thank you Tim!!
Thoroughly exquisite experience from beginning to end. Beautiful setting and every course delivered beyond expectations. Most of all our server Benjamin provided perfect service and made our night as special as possible. We will very much look forward to returning!
This restaurant is a little pricey but the food is delicious. The dining area is cozy but vast and can fit quite a lot of people. The lobster roll was perfectly buttery and fresh. The fries were crispy and also a good size. I also had wine with my food and it was a perfect combination.
This place is truly exceptional. The wine selection is fantastic, and the food is absolutely outstanding. Every visit feels like a flawless experience. The service is warm and attentive, and the ambiance has that effortlessly cool New York vibe. We had the steak frites, clam spaghetti, and pumpkin truffle ravioli—each dish was a five-star delight!
UWS sister restaurant of Cafe Cluny and The Odeon. Consistently dependable food, great cocktails, impeccable service, and warm, genteel atmosphere. Don’t miss the daily specials. The grilled cheese sandwich - with bacon - alongside a cup of the soup of the day is often the best thing to order. The pastas are often very good. If you’re looking for something vegetarian, or on the lighter side, get the Thai Sticky Rice entry. The sticky toffee pudding is also excellent - as is the homemade mint chocolate chip ice cream.
We had a reservation and we arrived early. There were people waiting to be seated for their earlier reservation. We thought we will have to wait for long time, but we were seated about our reservation time. The food was excellent and our waitress was very attentive. The restaurant was full of customers telling us that it's a popular restaurant.
**A Memorable Thanksgiving at Café Luxembourg** Our Thanksgiving experience at Café Luxembourg was nothing short of exceptional. The restaurant’s refined yet inviting ambiance provided the perfect setting for a holiday celebration, blending understated elegance with a warm, convivial atmosphere. The service was impeccable. Despite the demands of a busy Thanksgiving evening, the staff were gracious, attentive, and efficient, ensuring that every detail of our dining experience was handled with care. The special Thanksgiving menu was equally as impressive Café Luxembourg demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence, making our holiday celebration truly unforgettable. It was a remarkable experience, and I look forward to returning to this gem in the future.
Wow, great meal all the way from apps to dessert. Lovely atmosphere but typical NYC cozy/tight tables. Superior service.
Fantastic brunch. Great food and service. Multiple gluten free options that are hard to find without wheat such as French onion soup which was delicious. It was a little pricier than I'd hoped but the food was great.
Café Luxembourg is pure magic. From the moment you walk in, the glow of the room, the hum of conversation, and the warmth of the staff wrap around you like an embrace. It’s elegant without being stuffy, timeless without feeling old. The food is perfection—every dish thoughtful, balanced, and deeply satisfying. The beef tartare, my personal favorite, is a masterpiece: fresh, vibrant, and prepared with a finesse that turns a classic into something unforgettable. You taste the care in every bite. The service is gracious, attentive, and kind, the kind of hospitality that makes you feel truly welcome. What makes this place unforgettable is the atmosphere: cozy, romantic, alive with the spirit of Manhattan. Sitting here feels like being exactly where you’re supposed to be. Five shining stars for Café Luxembourg—a restaurant that doesn’t just serve a meal, but gives you a memory to hold on to.
What a lovely neighborhood gem! I’ve been coming to the UWS for years and never had a chance to eat at Café Lux. I will definitely make this one of my go-toos from now on. The service is impeccable, water glasses refilled before you got to the bottom, and the food… absolutely delicious. Thank you, Café Lux, for being such a welcoming place to sit and enjoy a meal.
Lovely late night dinner. I was amazed at how cheerful the staff is—especially late at night. The bolognese has such a warm traditional taste. We added a Chianti. Pure delight. I went for the special roasted chicory salad. Unusual and satisfying enough for me. My husband loved the profiteroles. Luscious and tasty.
I came here for the first time on a Monday evening at 530pm for dinner. I was able to find parking on the street outside within the same block. Food (5/5): I orders the cheeseburger medium well. It was delicious and perfectly cooked. Service (5/5): When our waiter was setting my plate in the table I went up to help him and knocked the plate by accident. The cup of fries fell onto the table and floor with about 20% out of the cup. I told him it was no problem I would just eat them from the table and he insisted and said he would bring me a new cup, which he did in only a couple minutes. Atmosphere (5/5): For being in the city, they did a good job decorating and my dinner guest and I had plenty of privacy.
The food here was so lovely. Went with a few friends and we ordered the french toast (the bread sort of reminded me of Panettone which was a plus for me), the salmon eggs benedict (to die for), the lux burger (very very yummy), and then the icecream for dessert. The service was so lovely all the workers were extremely kind and looked happy to be working there. My friends and I felt very welcomed, too. Will be coming here forever!
One of the best UWS restaurants. But yesterday instead to go there I ordered food online. The manager and his team did the extra mile for me to get the food on a timely manner. He was also very kind to offer me extra cookies for the kids. And the most important the food was as always very delicious.
Have always wanted to go here but it’s a bit of a trek, then was reminded of it by watching Love Story. JFK Jr. liked to go here. I can see why. Place is very busy but the service is impeccable. The food is bistro style, and pretty good though not probably worth going back. The peanut butter ice cream special they had though was some of the best ice cream I’ve had so maybe that will pull me back in! Definitely glad I stopped in, I will recommend going here to people for sure. I’d stop back in when I’m in the neighborhood, but probably won’t travel a half hour on the subway just to go there.
Such a fun place! My wife and I arrived at 11:45am on a Monday for a post-movie brunch and Cafe Luxembourg did not disappoint! We sat at the bar and shared a bottle of Rose, onion soup, salade nicoise with yellowfin tuna, zucchini fries, and the warm chocolate chip cookies for dessert. Everything was great and the buzzing atmosphere added to the experience. Highly recommend!
Café Luxembourg is love at first sight! Our server was fantastic—attentive and caring. The food was absolutely delicious. It’s a small, classic American restaurant with a rich history. I was happy to find a cozy table for dinner, but I had made a reservation in advance. I highly recommend doing the same if you want a chance to get a table here!
Café Luxembourg was wonderful — full 5 stars! The food was spot-on: perfectly cooked steak frites, rich onion soup gratinée, fresh salads, and the best eggs Benedict for brunch. Everything tasted fresh and comforting. Service was excellent — warm, attentive staff who made us feel right at home. Atmosphere is cozy and charming: classic bistro vibe with great people-watching, soft lighting, and that perfect neighborhood feel. A reliable gem on the Upper West Side — highly recommend for brunch or dinner!
Another fabulous Keith McNally establishment that's been around forever and delivers every time. Like Cafe Cluny, Balthazar, The Odeon, Pastis and all the rest...great food, great service, great atmosphere. Don't miss the salmon tartare on your way to the Luxemburger!
Cafe Luxembourg is an Upper West Side gem! I was specifically searching for actual French- French Onion Soup and found this spot on Google. I am SO glad I did because the soup was perfect, everything I wanted it to be. It was rich and light at the same time, crunchy and soft, the ultimate dish! The bar top is some kind of polished silver and stunning to behold. A local told me it was the only Bartop if it’s kind in the city. Highly recommend! Wonderful and attentive staff, authentic menu, full bar, outdoor seating and very jazzy and chill atmosphere. A must go!
This was my first time in the Cafe. We did sit at the bar for lunch and it was busy. We ordered two French onion soups, drinks, and a sandwich. The food was great. The service by the bartender was just not attentive enough. He was slow on taking orders, getting the drinks he was responsible for, and when it came time to pay the bill we had to send up a few flairs.
It's always a special treat to dine at Cafe Luxembourg! Our party of four were fortunate enough to get the corner window table. The brunch was sublime delivered with exquisite service. The one issue is the restaurant was filled to capacity and the tables are tightly packed. We enjoyed delicious Bloody Marys and fine coffee. I love the old school Manhattan vibe and style with welcoming staff all with delivered with a French twist. 😊
Great date spot to grab a meal. It's probably geared moreso to that because of the intimate nature of this venue. All the tables here is cozy and in close quarters. Food was tasty and good. I have the salmon and it was about a 2.5-3oz portion of salmon. I got it cooked medium rare and the flavor was there with the sauce was good as well. I added sautéed spinach with it and that was tasty as well. Nice light flavor on it. The Luxemburger and fries my date had was good too. The fries are really good here. Nice flaky Exterior with soft interior. Lightly salted and overall good! Burger was medium rare and was good as well. I suggest adding cheese or bacon to give it an extra layer of flavor. The burger could use some salt or something whilst being cooked to add to the experience. Got 4 drinks as well. 2 each. They were good too. Service was attentive and no qualms there. After tip and meal, ended up at a little over $200. This place isn't a value proposition. Per person you'll probably at least spend about 60 bucks so come with your wallet. If you can afford it, it's a nice option. You get what you pay for here.
Café Luxembourg is one of the best dinner spots on the Upper West Side! The food is consistently delicious, the service is warm, and the atmosphere feels both elegant and comfortable. I came with my child and we were made to feel so welcome, yet it’s also the perfect spot for a cozy date night. A true NYC classic with amazing cocktails and French inspired dishes.
Really tasty food and a very attentive server, Aby. Manager Slava was in charge of the section where we were seated, and he checked on us many times, making sure that we were enjoying every single bite. The special salads with cherry tomatoes and the other one with lettuce, turmeric, and asparagus were so fresh and tasty; we couldn't ask for more. Very generous measurement for the espresso martini.
We had a great dinner at Café Luxembourg! We started with two salads: the special tomato salad and the bibb salad and both absolutely amazing, fresh, and full of flavor. For my main course, I had the steak frites, which was cooked to perfection. To finish, we shared the homemade pecan ice cream, and it was a true highlight — rich, creamy, and delicious. The service was outstanding throughout the evening. Our server was attentive and made sure everything was perfect, and the manager, Slava, warmly welcomed us and made the whole experience feel special!!!
We were going to a show at Beacon Theatre on a Friday night so decided to stop at Cafe Luxembourg. We arrived at around 5pm without a reservation but they were able to seat us. We timed it well as about 20 minutes after we arrived the place was completely full. We had never visited this restaurant before but the atmosphere was great and it felt like being in a bistro in France. We started with the Oysters, which were lovely and fresh. I then ordered the molues frites and my other half ordered the branzino. Both of us loved our dishes, the sauce with the mussels was so tasty and I highly recommend asking for some bread to mop the leftover sauce up. We decided to share the lemon meringue dessert, which had the perfect balance between lemon tartness and the sweetness of the meringue. Service was prompt without ever feeling rushed and our server was very attentive. Prices are a little high but given the area that is to be expected. There is nothing groundbreaking with this place, it’s just classic food done well. We also shared a bottle of wine and our total bill, including tax and tip, was $260. A little expensive but to be expected for the area. We both agreed that if we had another show at the Beacon we would probably stop here again.
This legendary spot has been around for nearly 50 years — a true hidden gem of New York, tucked away on the Upper West Side, far from the city’s usual hustle. If I hadn’t heard about it in advance, I would’ve never thought to walk in — I’m not yet skilled at spotting diamonds in the rough. Despite the place being packed (as it always is), we were greeted warmly and kindly, even though we arrived completely unannounced. They managed to find us a table — not the coziest one (near the door with the exit sign), but we didn’t mind at all. We were just excited to try the famous lobster roll and fries. Word is, the fries here are made from scratch, old-school style — not those sad frozen ones you get everywhere else. The bun is a soft, pillowy potato roll, and the lobster is incredibly fresh, served in generous chunks. At $45, it’s a solid choice for a quick, satisfying lunch. A special thank you to manager Slava, who made us fall in love with this place. Now we can’t wait to come back — and maybe even become regulars.
Located in the heart of the Upper West Side near 72nd Street and Lincoln Center, Café Luxembourg offers a delightful blend of French and American cuisine in a setting that evokes a sense of nostalgic charm. The restaurant’s warm and inviting ambiance is matched by its attentive and friendly staff, ensuring a consistently welcoming experience for diners. The culinary craftsmanship at Café Luxembourg is evident in every dish, with each item prepared and executed to perfection. The yellowfin tuna burger is a standout, featuring a flawlessly medium-rare tuna patty with a smooth texture and exceptional tenderness. Another highlight is the steak frites, which is impeccably seasoned and cooked to satisfy even the most discerning palate. For a truly memorable start to your meal, the French onion soup appetizer is an absolute must. The rich, savory combination of caramelized onions and melted cheese creates an indulgent, comforting dish that exemplifies the restaurant’s dedication to quality and flavor. Café Luxembourg provides an exceptional dining experience, seamlessly blending sophisticated cuisine with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re seeking a leisurely lunch, an elegant dinner, or simply a memorable meal before a performance at Lincoln Center, this neighborhood gem delivers on all fronts.
I stopped by Cafe Luxembourg this week and was pleasantly surprised. It’s such a cozy spot with an amazing atmosphere — you can feel the history in every detail. It’s one of those places you’d call iconic. Also, I had the best lobster roll I’ve ever tried in New York. And the service? Absolutely top-notch. Definitely the kind of place you want to keep coming back to.
This was my first time here, every- time I passed it was packed- I see why. This is an upper west side staple. Sit inside outside at the bar, service is fantastic. Everyone smiles and greets you like you’re a regular. The manager even came over the see how our meal was - it’s was delish. The eggs cooked to perfection, crispy shoestring fries and a fresh salad. It was my friend’s birthday so they added a custom plate and candle. Cant wait to go back !
The restaurant was super crowded, and I was glad I made a reservation through open table. I was asked multiple times if I had a theater plan, and I'm guessing the kitchen prioritizes those customers first to accommodate the showtime schedule. The beef tartar was okay. The beef tasted a bit dry. The burger and the grilled cheese were good. What I really liked was the French Onion Soup. The crusted cheese on the French Onion soup bowl was a nice touch. It came off almost like a thin cheese cracker. I would go again.

Cafe Lux stands out in a neighborhood with little charm. It's cramped for sure but there is a real NYC-feel. Love the tuna burger but we've been happy with most menu items.

Café Luxembourg was a lovely classic brunch spot. We have an enjoyable time here. The atmosphere: was a mix of classic diner and bar restaurant. It had a lovely old charm feel. The staff: was friendly, and the service was pretty quick. The food: was pretty good. I had eggs and potatoes, and my party had French toast. Everything was tasty, but for the $12 bacon side, I would have expected a higher quality cut. Cleanliness: the table and silverware were clean as they should be.
The good and the bad. The good news is the scallop was AMMMAZING! I’ll definitely order the scallops again! The searing is good, the seasoning is there, the pine seed and trumpet mushroom added a creaminess and earthiness to the dish, perfuming the almost-butter-like scallop. A perfectly-balanced dish. If there’s one thing, I would want the sauce to be more concentrated. The wonderful flavours of pine and trumpet mushroom all got diluted into the water. The bad news is the octopus is like melted slimy sticky rubber, with the gooey skin still attached to it. I couldn’t even finish a quarter of the dish and had to hide all the octopus under a napkin🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️. So, I would probably want to come back for more scallop. But I might want to stay away from the octopus🐙.
A beautiful French place to grab lunch or dinner with friends or family. I had French toast with only thing I didn’t like there barely and fruits added and French toast was a bit dry. I would go back and just stick savoury because all the sweet menu items didn’t look so appealing beyond the desserts. Give it a try!
The wait staff is wonderful but we had an unpleasant welcome from a young man at the hostess station today. We had a 10 AM reservation but I called at 9:30 to ask if I could more it to 10,30 and they said they could only move it to 10:15. . We arrived at 10:05 AM and the restaurant was only 1/4 filled. He told me they would seat us at 10:15 and basically motioned for us to leave. No smile, no welcome. Thankfully his female colleague was on top of it and got us seated 30 seconds later. But the exchange left us feeling annoyed and unwelcome. To the owners, get your front staff to be more welcoming. Your waitstaff knows how to do this. Food was great but pricey. Very crowded space. Have eaten there many times but not sure how soon we will return.
The bar is great. The rest is sort of B+. Food is ok.
A nice little place. I like the food and the whole European atmosphere. Quite authentic. However, despite the fact that we had a reservation, we had to wait for more than 30 mins to get to our table. Of course waiters and hostess apologized for the wai, but it felt like a built in characteristic. This was my first time, so I can't judge - but it had the feel of a place that wants to create an image of desired by the number of people waiting to be seated. I had a good burger and a nice martini
This restaurant is a staple on the uws. Prices are okay. My favorite dish is the Sticky purple rice with veggies. Healthy with a wonderful mix of flavors including grains and greens. The quiche came out burnt but they fixed it. It’s a very old restaurant with a slightly grungy feel but a classic.
The food here was quite good - I particularly liked the Buffalo chicken dumplings. The mussels were well cooked and flavorful. Otherwise it was just okay - not appreciably better than similar French restaurants. The cocktails were underwhelming. Price point is also a bit on the high side for the quality of the food - 2 drinks and an entree will run you about $100 with tip.
The place was tight and mood was intimate for the 3 of us for breakfast. To be honest, my avocado toast (see picture) was pretty and delicious but for $19 I expected a bit more. We happened to time it right and saw actor Danny Glover having breakfast behind us, but it's hard to make him out from the picture. Overall, the service was great and the food was delicious, just a bit over priced.
I have been eating at Cafe Lux for decades!! Suffice it to say, they haven’t lost a thing off there fastball in over 35 years!!! Food? TOP NOTCH!! SERVICE? Always stellar! Ambience ? Like the 80s I still feel at home GO!!!! Does not disappoint
Stopped by for a quick brunch with a friend and had a great experience. The restaurant has a charming, old-school vibe that adds to the cozy ambiance. I went with the Luxemburg burger and fries—good overall! The fries were crispy and generously portioned. My friend had the fish sandwich, which was the special of the day, and he liked it. The atmosphere was inviting, the service was friendly, and the food was satisfying. Definitely a spot worth returning to!
Tried a few items and overall had a great experience. The espresso martini was well made — you could taste the alcohol without it being overpowering, and it was a nice way to start the day. Definitely something I’d order again. The steak was cooked perfectly and very juicy in the middle, though some parts were slightly hard or rubbery. Flavor-wise it was excellent, and the peppercorns added a nice touch to the sauce without being too strong. The fries were thin, perfectly crisp, and the parmesan was a great addition. The grilled cheese was okay, but pairing it with the pickle created a great balance and really enhanced the flavor. Would happily come back and try more from the menu.
Adorable location and classic brunch spot. Went with a friend over late brunch and had no Rez.. only had to wait 20 minutes and were able to get a table. Definitely a busy location but service and food were both great. Enjoyed Benedict, buffalo dumplings, and egg sandwich. overall recommend
Prototypical French restaurant with super attentive staff. Inside seating looks kinda packed. We enjoyed the weather and air outside dining. Only got to try the burger with fries. It was cooked perfect with some juice running. The fries are more on the airer side. The pair the meal with Mayo, ketchup, and house sauce which was excellent.
I could not make a reservation during the day before 8pm. When I arrived without reservation at 545 they had a table or seat at the bar. And outside was completely free (might have been quite warm). The burger and french fries were delicious. It felt there were too many waiters walking and looking around for work. Slightly restless feeling

Update from May 2021: This place is always buzzing with people. I lived above this restaurant for 12 years and have been coming here for awhile. My favorite was their french toast. It was so crispy outside and so soft inside. They also have decent fries. When the pandemic happened, they opened outdoor dining with limited menu. We were sad that the french toast was gone. So when we found out the french toast is coming back with the indoor dining, we had to go have a brunch there. Their food is good but nothing very special in general (like their side of salad was not great regarding seasoning) and to our disappointment, the french toast lost its specialness. It was like any other brunch place. Not as crunchy outside and bit soggy in the middle. The maple butter like thing is gone also. I am very sad that that happened. Past review before the pandemic: Food is always exceptional! I especially love their French toast. I promise you it will be the best French toast. I have tried many French toast around New York and this is the one. The portion is not big but it is so crunchy on the outside and so soft inside.
Not really French food. Nice hostess and lovely interior, but food is fine but nothing out of this world and server was awful, the reason for low rating. Great location but would not go again sorry. Hostess was nice and welcoming but attended to other customers who just came in... because I used the restroom first? Tall dark Waiter was not welcoming or knowledgable. He had no useful recommendation for popular items to order, wrote our orders wrong and repeated them wrong, said NO when we asked lobster roll and yellowfin tuna burger dish to be cut in half (to share, lobster roll came in 2s anyways), and hit my friend with the menu while walking by and did not apologize. Really the experience was more like a 1 or 2 star because we paid and tipped (too nice) and actually took the time to go and eat there, but would be a pity as otherwise a nice place. By the way if you're new or just do not know, it's OK to say I'll be back with your answer. So waiters not trained well. And noone else checked up on us. Seems like a popular brunch and lunch place for locals and hope it continues that way. One time, one chance. Chocolate dessert was rich and nice. They did not have chai latte but had mint tea which came in a pot. They did offer to refill friends' coffees. Again, not interested in going back again. But a huge fan of Lincoln steak house right next door. Two clean toilets and one had a baby chamber table. Great! They have bar counter seats and table seats.
Sadly, the inconsistency of food quality has turned a long time staple in to a hard pass. For almost two decades this was always one of our favorite places to enjoy a great meal with exceptional service. Unfortunately the food quality, especially that of the steak, can ruin an otherwise pleasant experience. The service was still top notch, but the cramped space and elevated prices are no longer overcome by the quality of the food itself. It’s just no longer worth the risk of getting a steak that is mainly gristle. Hopefully this is just a phase, because in a city with so many amazing restaurants, it’s hard to compete if you’re not on your best game.
A very popular spot in the UWS with lots of regulars. We walk by all the time and decided to stop by for dinner. Service is good (especially for NYC standards and considering how busy they were on a Friday night). Food is decent as well but not as consistent as I'd like for the price point. The tuna crudo was too bright (too much citrus) but quality of tuna was excellent. While our burger was cooked perfectly (medium rare), we found it to be under seasoned/bland - with that being said we didn't get it with cheese or bacon so maybe that's the differentiator. The chipotle sauce is great and the accompanying fries are good but our portion was half of what we saw in other reviews online and seems like we got the end bits and pieces so lack of consistency is a bit disappointing. The seafood linguine was very good. Pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and dish was well balanced. This dish was executed perfectly. The atmosphere is energetic yet relaxed and while it's an elevated bistro it's not stuffy and staff is very friendly and keep their cool even when things are hectic. Perhaps the food didn't quite hit the mark for us since we went on a busy Friday and the quality control in the kitchen was not quite keeping up.
Used to be such a great neighborhood place, with familiar faces, and staff that knew the regulars. Now it's got too many chairs (very hard to navigate) and the front desk staff seems to be in con…

I've been coming here off and on for 50 years. Our most recent visit was an improvement over some earlier ones, service was good and one entree, the lobster roll with fries, was very good. But …
The server never stopped by to take our order after waiting 30 minutes. The manager finally took our order. I was shocked that a salad with salmon cost $35 and only had 8 pieces of lettuce and a square of salmon that was the size of a deck of cards. My Manhattan and my friend’s Vesper was good. Her fries were crispy. Thankfully she shared them with me because I was given no bread or anything in addition to my tiny salad with salmon. Nobody stopped by to see if we were happy or if we needed anything. We had to flag someone down to pay. It was a huge disappointment See photo to understand what I got for $35.
Ignore the hype: what was once a nice bistro-esque dining experience on the upper west side has become a tourist-trap at best, or a bit of a monstrosity at worst. There are just too many people in the space to make for any sort of relaxing meal. That was my impression on a recent visit, on an otherwise quiet Tuesday evening. And as for the food, both my dining companion and I ordered a martini and the steak frites, and wouldn't you know it, the drinks didn't arrive until after the food did (with no apology), the steak was unremarkable, and the fries were dried out to the point they had to be sent back for new ones, all making for a rather hectic, disordered meal. I live very nearby and have eaten at this restaurant numerous times over the years, but it's going to be quite a while before I return.
Biggest rip off ever! I ordered the steak frites and it comes super thin, thinnest steak I've ever seen in my life at a proper restaurant. I ate it, paid, waiting to leave and then saw the table ne…
The food is good. The prices are exorbitant. I ordered a Caesar Salad. It was $19.00, $25.00 with tax and tip. What appeared was a salad the size of an orange. No amenities like a basket of bread. …
Disgusting service. The bartender took my card for the payment and broke it in 2 parts by inserting it inside. What did they do? Nothing… basically breaking peoples personal things is ok here. 0 responsibility.
This was the single worst service I've had in almost 40 years of dining out in NYC. The food we got was not hot, but we couldn't ask for any of it to be reheated because no one ever checked on how our food was or if we needed anything (like mustard...or more wine...or hotter food). Which was lame, but excusably so. But only three of the four of us actually got served the food we ordered. Which we could not remedy because no one (not one person) ever checked on us. And when we finally flagged our waiter down maybe fifteen minutes later, he didn't really seem to care. Which, in retrospect, was kind of how he seemed to feel (about us) from the beginning. There are plenty of other solid places to eat in this neighborhood for less money, so we will not make this mistake again.
