🇬🇪 A Georgian Culinary Journey in Chelsea If you’re looking to break away from the usual dinner routine, Chama Mama is an absolute must. We came here for a work dinner of four, and it was the perfect blend of a professional atmosphere and a genuinely fun, unique vibe. The Highlights: • The Food: Traditional Georgian flavors that feel both adventurous and comforting. Every dish was a conversation starter. • The Service: Truly top-tier. Our server was originally from Georgia and treated us like guests in their own home. They were incredibly patient, helping us navigate the menu and giving us "the whole 9 yards" on the proper way to eat the traditional dishes. • The Drinks & Vibe: Relaxed yet polished. The environment is pleasant, the drinks are great, and it’s a fantastic spot for groups. 🍰 Don't Skip Dessert: You have to order the Napoleon cake. It is quite literally to die for—it has the perfect amount of crunch and flavor without being overly sweet. It was the highlight of the night! Verdict: 5/5 stars. Great food, even better service. Highly recommended for team dinners or anyone wanting a delicious "culinary trip" to Tbilisi without leaving Manhattan. 🥂
This was our second visit, and it was just as amazing as the first! We ordered the Adjaruli khachapuri, chicken mtsvadi, honey cake ice cream, and chocolate cloud cake, along with the drinks (passionfruit caramel lemonade and Château Buera – Rkatsiteli). Every single item was absolutely delicious. The service was also top-notch! Truly outstanding. Easily a 10 out of 10. We can’t wait to come back! ❤️❤️❤️
We went here for guys night out and loved it. It was national cheese boat day and we got a special cheese bread. Amazing. We’ll be coming back
INCREDIBLE meal at Chama Mama! Everything here is top-notch, the service (thanks Evelyn!), drinks, appetizers, main courses, ambience… You name it. Highly recommend this amazing gem and will be back in the near future for sure.
Chama Mama transports you straight to Georgia with its beautiful decor and a cozy, heated backyard perfect for a scenic dining experience. We kicked off our meal with drinks, and Ajika Mary was an absolute standout. It’s a Georgian take on the classic Bloody Mary, packed with bold, spicy flavors. The mocktails, Figgin Fresh and Tangerine Trip, were equally delightful, offering refreshing and well-balanced flavors. For appetizers, we started with Spinach Pkhali, a rich and earthy Georgian dip served with freshly baked bread and a side of Ajika. The creamy spinach paired with the spicy ajika gave each bite a flavorful kick. Next up was the Chiji Piji with Adjapsandali, a shakshouka style dish that was hearty and comforting. Next we tried Adjaruli Khachapuri, a boat-shaped bread filled with molten cheese, butter, and a raw egg yolk, straight from the Adjara region. A little cheesy and might put you to sleep but it was a decent delight for the taste buds. To wrap up this Georgian feast, we indulged in Pelamushi, a traditional grape pudding topped with glazed walnuts, along with a warm and comforting Cappuccino. Didn't find the dessert to be very good, it was okayish The staff was helpful and sweet, adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant. This place is a must visit for anyone looking to explore the rich culinary traditions of Georgia or looking to try something different.
It was my first time exploring Georgia food. Overall it’s great. The pork skewers are very tender and juicy, together with pomegranate and the special sauce. The Georgian soup dumplings - I’d recommend the steamed ones, which do hold soup inside, while the fried ones are a bit dry inside. The cheese boat and the chicken liver pate are both very good in flavors. The grape pudding is sweet sour, good as an end of a feast, and the napoleon is different from the French one, good to give it a try. Service was quite friendly. They recommended the above dishes, which were all quite good and special. Atmosphere wise, good for gathering of a small group. Cute decors.
Excellent Georgian food! Pictured are adjarula khachapuri (cheese boat), beef and pork khinkali, chicken mtsvadi, and crispy smashed potatoes. The chicken and potatoes were very flavorful and delicious. The khinkali are among the best I’ve had but smaller than usual. The khachapuri is also smaller than usuual, but very rich and tasty. We’ll be back to try more things!
Our server, she was very kind and professional, wine tastings, cocktails, were all above expectations and quite delicious. The food though? Excellent, phenomenal, superb! We enjoyed our meal quite a bit. Easily a place we’d come back to. Georgian food is a must try, and Chama Mama does it justice!
Had an awesome time at Chama mama. Food was awesome, showed up without a resi and was seated at the bar which was comfy. Bartender was great and the food was even better. Definitely get the khachipuri and khinkali. The ricotta pancakes were also incredible. Overall a great spot with cosy vibes and great service.
I’ve been to Chama Mama (the restaurant) before and loved it. And I finally got around to trying the bakery attached to it- highly recommend checking it out!! We tried: - the spinach pie: savory spinach goodness - the mushroom pie: same as above but with mushroom - the “cigarette-shaped” pastries: they’re akin to walnut cinnamon sugar cookies (these were my favorites of the haul) - their signature bread: I forget the name but 10/10 no notes and looking forward to making little toasts at home with it this week The space is like a hole in the wall with a bench out front. Worth the detour!
Absolutely incredible experience at Chama Mama! The food was rich, flavorful, and truly felt like a journey into Georgian cuisine. The khachapuri was perfection — crispy on the outside, warm and cheesy on the inside — and the khinkali were juicy and full of flavor. Every dish tasted homemade and cooked with real care. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the staff made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. It’s the perfect place to share plates, enjoy amazing wine, and discover something new and delicious. Hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in NYC. Can’t wait to come back!
Lovely atmosphere and a very cozy place with several comfortable areas. I ordered khachapuri, kharcho soup, and khinkali — everything was excellent. The kharcho soup stood out the most, and the khachapuri and khinkali were absolutely delicious. Portions are medium, but perfectly enough. Service is great: the staff is friendly, attentive, and helpful with recommendations. The speed of service is average, but totally fine. The place is clean, and the background music adds to the pleasant vibe. Prices are reasonable, with the only downside being that the alcohol is a bit more expensive than usual. I definitely recommend this spot if you want to try a new cuisine or just enjoy a tasty, cozy evening out.
We absolutely loved Chama Mama! First time having Georgian food. So much to love. Flavorful food, honest craftsmanship, stunning drinks, incredibly friendly staff, beautiful design of the space. While I've seen and understand criticisms of the steep pricepoint for "homey" food, the investment in a meal at Chama Mama is worth the authentic experience, and most of all the DELECTABLE food. Stars of the show were the Beef Kharcho Soup (delicious tomato flavor, hint of spice, stewed beef, wheat), the Khinkali (excellently spiced beef & pork in our case, bathing in a wonderful meat broth inside the dumpling wrapper), and the Khachapuri (cheesy, delicious bread, a must-try food experience), and don't sleep on the mocktails and lemonades. Fantastic restaurant, from the food all the way to the branding.
An amazing intro into Georgian food and culture in an experience that shaped my understanding of what is comfort food and hospitality. Victor our server took us on a journey through the menu and we order purely off of his recommendations. We enjoy expertly curated cocktails, amazing Kachipuri, lamb dumplings, and the most divine pomegranate beef stew served with cheesy potatoes. It was an experience I wish would never end and I can’t understate that this is a must try restaurant in NYC. Also the dessert menu was amazing and the honey cake ice cream is a must order. Definitely come out to try Chama Mama if you are in NYC.
I always love trying Georgian food — it’s always a good idea! Went with the girls for Sunday brunch. The service and atmosphere were great, and the food was really good. I’d be lying if I didn’t mention that the Georgian hospitality from the hostess was a bit missing. Overall, I’d give the food 4/5.

Genuinely one of the best food places I've had in nyc. The service is so nice and the vibes of the place are amazing. The Georgian salad was phenomenal, and so was the bread. 100% recommend.

Absolutely delicious food: I got the phkali platter and whilst steep at 28 dollars (!!!), it was so good! The portion size was also decent. The menu has the full extent of Georgian delicacies and is super veg friendly. We didn’t drink but wine prices for a glass are a whopping 14 dollars when I scanned. I really liked the Christmas music playing, the cosy atmosphere and the gorgeous outdoor seating with twinkling lights and a Christmas tree. Good service, regularly checked in and very efficient.
My friend and I had a reservation here for a Monday night. It was busy! We were seated at a small table for two. They brought us water pretty quickly but then took a while to get to us and take drink/food orders. The waitress was helpful with suggesting items from the menu though. We started with some rolls, which were good, but it would have been nice to have butter. The khachapuri was delicious, and the waitress mixed the egg into it for us. She also told us the best way to eat it and the soup dumplings which was helpful. The roast chicken was juicy, and the sauce was delicious. I would definitely come here again!
Overall the food was great, I don’t think I had a better light meal ever. That’s a perfect place for your dinner if you are looking for something which ain’t too heavy on your stomach. We got Khachapuri and Braised lamb stew. I love runny eggs so it was a winner for me. If you are not into it, definitely try other Puris.
Well all I can say is as a Georgian food newbie, my first experience was very good. Who knew I liked Georgian food. I went for lunch with coworkers. We ordered a plethora of different dishes. Taste of Georgia - very good Roasted Wild Mushroom - very flavorful ADJAPSANDALI - so tasty Watermelon with Gouda- that was just ok CHIKHIRTMA-CHICKEN SOUP- coworker said it was good ADJARULI KHACHAPURI- very good Chicken Kebob- the flavor was very comforting and good LOBIANI - coworker enjoyed this dish Lamb KHINKALI - this was my personal favorite The music at the restaurant was relaxing. The vibe was your typical work lunch atmosphere. The service was ok. It wasn't bad but it could have been a bit warmer. But overall my customer experience was good. I do recommend. I definitely will try other/more Georgian dishes. This cuisine is very palatable, tasty and good.
The food was excellent—rich, flavorful, and true to Georgian comfort cuisine—though definitely on the heavier side, so come hungry. Service was warm and attentive, no complaints there. We sat in the back patio, which was charming in theory but acoustically challenging in practice. It was a loud night, with a large groups of extremely loud university-age diners making conversation difficult. Next time, I’d opt for a seat inside—maybe at the bar—for a more manageable noise level. Overall, worth a return visit for the food and service.
The food was delicious but what surprised us the lost were the drinks!! Every cocktail was unexpected and absolutely delicious

Very good meal. Georgian food is distinctive. Delicious bread, beef & pork dumplings, and potato/zucchini/pepper dish. Friendly staff and service.

Food was fine, but portion / price point is very much off. $26 for 5 pieces of chicken that comes with nothing.. no fries, no salad, no bread. $14 appetizer that is a table spoon of spread.. also comes with no bread. Honey cake was the flattest cake I have ever seen and it tasted burnt. I like the ambiance, but everything else was just ok at most.
DISHONEST BUSINESS PRACTICE We had a friend visiting from out of town and made a reservation at 7 PM. I was excited to try Georgian food for the first time, but the experience was disappointing, especially after discovering that the server illegally added extra to their own tip after I had already left one. That alone is unacceptable and raises serious concerns about how this restaurant operates. The evening started off well, the place was lively even for a Monday night, and our server was attentive with refilling water. However, the service quickly went downhill. We ordered around 7:10, but it took over 40 minutes for our main dishes to arrive. We even had to remind the server about our order, and oddly enough, the food came out just seconds later after that reminder. The food itself was flavorful and well-seasoned, but the portion sizes were much smaller than expected, especially for the price. The $85 meat platter had far less than expected, and the mushroom and other dishes were equally undersized. Overall, the flavors and atmosphere were enjoyable, but I’d only recommend this restaurant if you don’t mind paying premium prices for smaller portions and slow service. I would also strongly recommend keeping your receipt and checking your credit card charge afterward, as some places may assume guests won’t notice.
