Opinions de Grata Thai New York
Stopped in for a quick bite to have some appetizers before seeing a show. Waiter suggested the passionfruit Cosmo and it was so tasty. Everything that I had to eat was also delicious, I’ll be back soon!
Delicious authentic Thai food, Lunch special with excellent service. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. Highly recommended!
Had a really great time! Great food and Great service :)
Grata Thai, a hidden gem that serves unforgettable homestyle Thai cuisine recently opened right by Queensboro Bridge. This is a spot where authenticity meets homestyle comfort. It isn’t just another Thai restaurant. Every dish tells a story of tradition, experience, and bold flavors with their head Chef Philip, bringing an unmatched depth of knowledge to the kitchen. With decades of experience in Thailand, Hong Kong, and the US, there are dishes you won’t find anywhere else transporting you straight to the bustling markets of Bangkok. One standout is their Jungle Soup, an exhilarating explosion of spice and freshness that lives up to its name. This fiery broth based masterpiece is packed with herbs, aromatics, and heat that will have you feeling the wild heart of Thailand with every sip. Whether you're a diehard Thai food lover or just beginning your journey into this vibrant cuisine, Grata Thai delivers an experience that’s both authentic and unique. If you want Thai food beyond the usual pad thai and green curry, this is the place to be.
The food was excellent - the crispy duck tasted very crispy with the sauce, and the chive pancake tasted better than any other pancake. The service was very fast when delivering the dishes, delivering them all within 10 minutes of placing an order. Lastly, the atmosphere was very pleasant, the waitresses were very friendly and responsive. Overall a great experience and would like to go there again!
Service & Ambiance (5/5): We were the only patrons for most of our dinner in a very narrow but brightly lit, clean, and welcoming establishment. I ordered the Thai tea which was presented in a jumbo glass that was almost double the size of your usual glass! The fun large bendy straw was great. We had a hard time picking among all the choices. The dishes were all presented with a lovely presentation too! Roti with massaman curry (5/5): The roti was out of this world—very crunchy and great on its own. The massaman was delicious but my only suggestion was that the curry was too thin for it to be accompanied with the roti. We used the leftovers and dumped into rice, which was perfect. Pad Pred Normai (5/5): The dish was heavily portioned with bamboo shoots, peppers, and plentiful of seasoning. It was spicy, as spice lovers, neither of us found it too spicy! Duck with Sweet Basil Sauce (4/5): I really liked the sauce but it was a bit too salty. The duck and the sauce flavors reminded me of other Chinese food dishes. Everything was food with lots of flavor. The duck was juicy, skin was crunchy, and the taste was marinated through. TAKEOUT UPDATE 12/15/2026: Second time I ordered online for pick up and I think they didn’t start my order until I came for pick up so I had to wait an additional 15 min. Chili chicken wings (1/5) – they forgot to add the sweet chili sauce so it was just overcooked wings with hardly any meat on the wings. Large wings have 8. Additional $2 for peanut sauce that was just very meh. Pad See Ew (5/5) – don’t order with beef because the beef is low quality so it’s pretty tough to chew. Flavor was phenomenal (one of my top pad see ews!!) with a garlic forward taste, not too sweet, umami Roti with Massaman (5/5)– still delicious as it was dining in. Still firm believer that the curry is way too thin to be enjoyable but goes well with the rice.
I found this little gem accidentally and I’m so happy I did! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the friendliest and genuine smile that welcomed me to sit down. Service was exceptional and that really made my day! I ordered the papaya salad which was very refreshing as I expected and the duck rolls that were very tasty! Atmosphere is very friendly and relaxed, I’ll definitely come back to try so many other items that sounded amazingly delicious!
the food was incredible! great little spot near roosevelt island tram. i love drunken noodles and these were so good and savory. we also got panang curry which was also super good. a good thai place has plenty of basil on their dishes and you can expect that from here. the service was also quick and compassionate. definitely will come again.
If you're anything like me, you're always on the lookout for that next go-to spot for comforting, flavorful food — and I just found mine : Grata Thai Restaurant. From the first bite to the last sip, experience the bold, authentic flavors of Thailand at @gratathai_nyc. Tucked away on the East Side of Midtown, Grata Thai serves up everything you love about Thai cuisine : bold spices, fresh herbs, and that perfect balance of sweet, savory, and spicy. I enjoyed everything that I ordered. Featured : - Duck Wrap - Chive Pancakes - Shrimp Cake - Summer Rolls - Roast Duck over rice - Fish with Mango salad - Beef Pad See Eew
We had an incredible dining experience! The Red Thai Curry and Drunken Noodles were both outstanding — bursting with flavor and perfectly spiced to bring out the authentic taste without overwhelming the palate. Every bite was so satisfying, we didn’t leave a single drop of curry behind! To top it off, we tried the Thai Iced Tea — a refreshing, flavorful drink that was new to us and absolutely delightful. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for delicious, well-balanced Thai food. We’ll definitely be back!
Thai cuisine has always been my weakness but Grata absolutely blown me away! Their secret sauce elevates EVERY SINGLE DISH! Most Thai restaurant’s duck dishes are on the drier side but Grata was able to overcome that. In addition, pair it with their secret sauce, you get hooked instantly. I confess! I’m an addict now! I honestly cannot believe how tasty this hidden gem is. So good that I want to gatekeep them all to myself! Their desserts and amazing too! This is a ABSOLUTE MUST VISIT!
Love discovering a good authentic Thai meal in the neighborhood Great spot for a quick and cute Thai dinner experience before enjoying that next White Lotus episode Here were our favorite dishes: 🦐 Grilled Shrimp Salad 🔥 Drunken Noodle 🍗 Duck with Massaman Curry 🦆 Roast Duck over rice
My husband and I found this place near our hotel. We were very impressed with the photos. And this place checked all my boxes. I am Thai and look for authentic spots. This is a gem! Absolutely delicious along with the presentation as well. Everything looks and tasted perfect! Our favorite was the Shrimp clay pot. Patrick was our waiter and he was so friendly and attentive. Thank you, for the great dining experience. We will be back!!
I love Thai food in general and I have had a lot of it a lot of different places. This is the best chicken pad see ew I think I’ve ever had. The view of 1st Ave is super cute and they played great music so I can’t have asked for a better atmosphere and vibe. The service was lovely and fast. Presentation of the food was also a step above and the place is super clean. I’d highly recommend and I hope I come back soon too. Only complaint was $6 for a sparkling water which I didn’t realize I’d be charged for. Oh well. I’ll skip it next time.
Grata Thai is a hidden gem! The food is delicious, service is friendly, and they have plenty of seating. The Panang Curry was delightful. It makes me want to explore their other curries. The highlight was the Drunken Noodles! I normally don’t go for noodle dishes at Thai restaurants, I stick to curry, but they recommended it and I have no regrets. I loved the chewiness of the noodles and the flavor of the wok on the tender chicken thins and veggies. I’ll be coming back for this dish. I topped it off with Fried Ice Cream (unconventional for Thai, I know) but it did not disappoint. It’s like a donut and ice cream in one, I loved it. The Coconut Custard was a sweet surprise — it’s served warm and is a great way to end the meal. Their drinks are beautifully crafted too. Highly recommend this place for high quality Thai cuisine!
Came here for a quick dinner with friends and was really disappointed when my friend’s green curry chicken dish tasted like something had gone bad. We let our server know and she took the dish back to the kitchen. She asked if we wanted the chef to make a new one and we said that the other dishes were great and no need to do that. We asked her to kindly take the dish off the bill. We were surprised when she didn’t, but that’s the restaurant’s prerogative. However, it’s also my prerogative to let the good readers of Google reviews know that I woke up with a massive stomachache. Won’t be going back.
