Incredible chicken fingers and fries. Their iceberg lettuce is magical!
1st time in this establishment. Very good food ice tea and eggs overeasy bacon and home fries all were good. Waiter was friendly bus person was nice as well. Overall clean friendly good atmosphere Definitely recommend this location it's open 24/7
The perfect diner experience. My waitress/hostess could not have been more sweet. The food is simple and classic, but you can tell that it's made with love. If you're wanting a classic American diner experience, Ritz Diner is a great place to try.
After a brisk morning walk along the East River, I wanted breakfast and a hot cup of coffee. I happened to be near the Ritz Diner and went in. This is an excellent diner with delicious food, hot refillable cups of coffee and a very attentive staff. Highly recommend to eat here. Fast service, excellent food and friendly staff.
Phenomenal! Diners are a dime a dozen, and most serve plain/bland basic food that clearly is made in bulk. I was pleasantly surprised to have such a flavorful breakfast! Home fries were deliciously seasoned, corned beef hash served piping hot, even the over easy eggs were perfect. It certainly hit the spot!
The Hostess/Cashier was super exceptional! She made me feel very comfortable.
Great and stylish diner with really good service. Had burger deluxe which were pretty good and definitely enough!
I have been to so many diners and restaurants around the world and around nyc, but I always look forward to come back to the Ritz diner; not only great service from the time you go inside, even in rainy days a very professional staff and its manager Geroge Pettas welcomes you and guide you to your table and then the delicious food, thank you for your great service.
This was the closest place to my hotel to get any sort of a got meal and was open late. Looking from the outside it looks like something put of a 90s sitcom but don't let that fool you as the food is fantastic! I ordered the avocado eggs Benedict and it was delicious. The hollandaise sauce was delicious and the avocado really paired well. I would recommend asking for your eggs to be cooked a little less as mine were almost hard boiled.
A wonderful and REAL New York City diner, great staff, great food, very reasonable prices.
Ended up coming back to the Ritz Diner as the food here is just so good. Staying in New York for a week from Scotland and we had breakfast and dinner here. Portion sizes are really big, glass of water for each put on table as soon as you arrive but option to purchase other drinks. Staff are polite, service is quick and portions are large, what more could you want? A real asset to New York, thanks guys
Loved the food! Super crisp fries! I came in super later (like 3am) and the owner was so polite he heard I needed an outlet and moved his things despite me insisting otherwise. The restrooms are SPOTLESS and very nice. People give your your space, very relaxing and cozy atmosphere. Beautiful French music playing. I definitely recommend it. The staff is very sharp and professional by the way.
Great place to eat, loved it and it completed my NYC experience. Also great staff and loved the fact that I could order breakfast for dinner. The chef can make diverse dishes!
I'm torn between recommending this place and keeping it quiet. The guest service at this restaurant was remarkable. This spot produces excellent food. Tasty cuisine. Nice setting I found the experience rewarding.
Old-school diner feel. Absolutely solid no-frills place. Possibly the best diner in the Upper East Side with The Mansion. Big portions, good service, and very reasonable prices. Savoury options are usually the best choice.
Really enjoyed my food at this place. The staff is really friendly and kind. Love the many food options they offer. Prices are really good! Really need to go to this place
A neighborhood favorite! I love to come here for breakfast or late night dinner. The staff is warm and welcoming. The lumber jack pancakes, salmon Benedict’s and turkey club are my favorites.
We dropped in randomly on a rainy Sunday between 10:30 - 11:00 am. It was not crowded. The diner is clean and comfortable. The employees were pleasant. The prices are reasonable and the food was good. I would definitely like to go back in the near future to try something different on the menu.
Some of the strongest diner ambiance in the city. Comfort personified. Absolutely gets the job done. So much respect for them staying open 24 hours — it’s absolute bravery and determination post-pandemic to still be open all hours.
I must admit I’m a man from Michigan so I know good diner food, and we have Coney Islands. I was looking for a good old Michigan Ruben with all the fixings, or at least how they make it in Chicago. This place knew just what I needed, and they greeted me with the upmost kindness. Everyone wanted to help, and really loved doing there job. Large menu so make sure you know what you want to eat. The only thing is I don’t think they are fresh cut fries, but they do have plenty of side options.
We loved this local diner! The menu was massive so there’s something for everyone. We learned that there’s a dinner specials menu which changes daily, it comes with a salad and soup, entree and dessert for very reasonable price. The portions were generous and service was very friendly. Loved the fact that they’re also opened 24/7 so you can come by anytime. Highly recommend!
This was my first time at this restaurant. I ordered a Belgian waffle and a cup of coffee. My friend ordered grilled cheese with home fries. The staff was very friendly. The food arrived very quick and it was quite tasty. I would definitely come back and I would recommend it to others who enjoy reading at a diner.
I had ordered my boyfriend a watercolor painting of the front of this diner because we love NY diners. So on this trip we decided to go and it may be our new favorite diner in NY. The wait for a window booth table on a Saturday morning was no longer than 15 minutes. Food came quick, was delicious, coffee was hot and came frequently. Our waiter offered to take a photo of us because he noticed we took pictures of our food. Was a very lively intersection made for great people viewing. Would absolutely recommend and come back!
The Ritz Diner is a perfect spot for a quick bite or full meal at any time of the day! Open 24 hours, their expansive menu is sure to have something for anyone who comes in (no matter how picky they are). The wait staff is quick and friendly, if you’re not from the area, this diner will give you a true feel for NYC.
Needed a place to find good hot food after a long day of doctors appointments, and this classic diner was perfect. Very accessible and accommodating staff. I recommend ordering a lunch special, they are worth the price. I had a fantastic huge meatball sub, and my wife had a chicken wrap. Filled us up and got us through the rest of our busy day.
They might be amazing- but when we showed up at 7 pm on the night of the 7th- they were closed - looked like they’d been closed for a long time- nothing on the counters or anything- we thought they must have shut down- but now I see still recent reviews! It’s a mystery! We were so looking forward to this place based on the reviews. Only good thing was we walked until we found pizza after this and it was good pizza!
The food is a warm hug and they have a wide range of options for everyone. Love the food, love the service and staff. They also have deliveries and the food is still good and warm.
I never leave reviews. This diner is THE BEST. Above a caliber of all other diners. It’s literally crazy. I’ve had the roast beef wrap the chicken panini fries ect everything is literally crazy crazy good. They always pay attention to special instructions for delivery. I just literally can’t emphasize enough how BOMB this diner is
The kitchen here knows how to transform ingredients completely. Every meal satisfies at a price that makes sense. The servings are generous at this place. The staff demonstrates superior care. I'll be back for another meal.
We absolutely love the Ritz. It’s our neighborhood diner, and adore the staff (like Marcos!), the comfort food (my fav: banana Nutella pancakes), and the atmosphere. Just what you need when you need it. Highly recommend. ❤️
What can you say they've been around 50 years and their pancakes and bacon are good. Bacon not extra crispy, but they are thin and juicy. That's a style and I respect it. Not gourmet, still use Smuckers packs for the syrup and little things for the butter but it tastes the SAME. You get a free fruit salad and OJ with big orders. Don't need to also order another OJ.
Ok so short version. All the staff are super nice, our food was prepared well, and the establishment was comfortable and clean. Details: Our flight git canceled and rescheduled for hours later and it was LATE. After some research found this diner and called. (Yes, I called and after 3 calls to other places with no answer they answered and verified they are open 24/7) we arrived a little after 1 and it was a couple small groups inside so we sat quickly. Menu is enormous so I was back and forth with what to order but the guy was EXTREMELY patient. I hate taking up a waiter/waitress' time but he reassured me not to rush and it was fine. I ordered the salami and provolone omelet that cane with grits and toast and got a side of sweet potato fries and my daughter got the Mediterranean wrap that came with fries. I really didn’t need to add anything to my omelet it was very tasty and so was my daughter's wrap. Her wrap had zucchini and squash and was flavorful so I definitely got a bite of that and we left stuffed. The staff were extremely nice the entire time even the ones who weren't waiting on our table. Shockingly the food came out SUPER fast so I was thankful for that. I would definitely come back if I lived here and make this my midnight snack spot since I'm a night owl. The manager was there when we went until we left hours later and was such a sweet soul. I highly recommend this place and their food!
If you're looking for a classic diner experience with a twist, Ritz Diner is a must-visit! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the service is top-notch. But what really stands out are the meatballs – they are absolutely delicious! Tender and flavorful. And let's talk about the peanut butter milkshake – it's a game-changer! Creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced, it’s the ideal treat to finish off your meal. Definitely a 5-star experience!
We arrived without reservations with a party of six. There was no availability, so we started to leave. The hostess came after us and told us they made room. We returned. The service was very friendly and attentive. There was a wide variety of diner food selections. The burgers were good and as ordered. My son has a Philly cheese steak and thought it was one of the best he ever had. The check came quickly. The only downside is that it is a bit cramped. But that is NYC dining in a nutshell. I would recommend giving it a try and feel you won't leave disappointed.
If you want the NYC Diner experience, go early in the morning or late at night. The waiters are so nice. They even have the movie's accent. We went here 6 times in a month, so yeah. All good. Not a Michelin star place, but a legit Diner! At least, my favorite Diner after a month of NYC.
The best traditional Diner in Manhattan. Lived here comparatively short time (2 years) but we've tried a number of diners. No where else excels in every way like the Ritz. Staff friendliness, food quality and speed of service. If you're a Brit like me growing up with American TV it's the diner experience you dream of. It's off the beaten track of tourist traps and has retained it's indelible NY charm. Every one of our visiting friends and family agree, it's the best place to go. Thanks for a great 2 years Ritz.
Just amazing! Really loved the experience I had here. Was welcomed with a smile, the food was delicious and the ambience just what you want in an American diner experience! Went there 3 times in a week and I'm still dreaming about those delicious pancakes and french toast! Staff was very nice and even recognised us each time we went back! Definitely recommend this.
The Ritz Diner is located on the corner of East 62 St. & 1st Ave. Sadly, it has recently & permanently closed. The NY Traditional Family Diner is slowly fading away due to very high rents. The assort…
I had a very delicious grilled chicken triple club. It was really good delicious french fries as well. It's really a shame that it's closing.

food was good, breakfast was very good. Their unsweetened iced tea is very delicious. Service was quick and waitstaff friendly. Love a window seat after work!

Your first visit will likely lead to many more. service personnel are why this place deserves top marks. Every bite offered supreme tenderness. The setting remains my favorite aspect of dining here…

Classic NYC diner experience. You're not gonna find gourmet meals but you will find consistently good comfort food and fast service. Recommend the coffee, challah French toast and eggs Benny
Ritz is old school cool. Good service, cheap food, good location, tiny bathroom. I love it.

I want to take a star off because WE MISS THE OLD VINTAGE NEON SIGN but I won't. Service is great, food is overpriced but still a great old/fashioned diner experience.

It's definitely my go-to place for a late night meal! They have healthy options but it's the desserts where they really shine! The ambiance after midnight is mostly calm which I like! The staff is …
Very big portions. I was able to get full from my steak salad and still take 2/3 of the plate to go. I ordered the spinach salad with steak as a topping. I expected tiny pieces like what you see in most salad toppings but it was generous. I like my steak well done so it came crispy and I was happy with how it tasted. I'm removing one star because the salad was on the dull side and had too many ingredients. Like a hodge-podge of random things thrown in; there was a lack of "group chemistry" within the salad. I recommend this plate. Nice location, typical diner vibes. Oh and another plus, we were able to park right outside the diner which is rare for Manhattan (it was 3am though- not sure if it's as easy during the day)
Great spot for all your griddle classics. **Disclaimer not featured on the menu: Fries contain gluten ☹️**
Love the timeless nostalgia of this place. Great matzo ball soup. A little pricey but good every once in a while for a treat. They used to have a health care worker discount but the last time I asked about it, the cashier had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. Would visit more if there was some consistency with this! Should be communicated to the staff. Help a fella out here!
Their food is a bit expensive for diners, but I appreciate the 20% discount online for pick up. Recently I ordered a turkey burger and an apple turnover a la mode. Not sure if the turkey burger was 8oz, maybe 6, despite still being good. The apple turnover didn't come with ice cream that I paid extra for. Their beef burgers are good though.
As a massive fan of rules of engagement, I had to come here. The service was great and everyone is so kind. The chicken and waffle were good but the chicken tenders were a bit plain tasting. Added some chohula hot sauce which helped a lot. Belgium waffle was really good. I wish they had fresh maple syrup instead of the little smuckers syrup packets but I really enjoyed eating here.
Fiance and i wanted to grab a last minute dinner and we loved it. Food and service is amazing. It is a classic American dinner place. He had grilled chicken with veggies chicken was 10/10 but veggies were average. I had lasagne special that came with greek salad and a small dessert all of it was amazing. We also had pancakes with Nutella and banana they were delicious. Overall we will come again! Its also really cheap for Manhattan 60$ for 2.
I got locked out of my apartment on a Sunday night going into Monday morning. This 24 hour diner saved my life last December. I got to stay there for 3 hours to drink hot tea and eat calamari with pasta. I now live in the Lower Eastside of Manhattan and I wish a second location would open here. The windows should be closed and air tight during the winter months. I need to write more in order to post this comment? Post already! Oh I need to chick on a star.
The best thing about the Ritz Diner is that you can order practically anything at anytime. I think they serve some of the best fries I’ve had on the upper east side. The portions are huge and filling; the wrap was almost unwieldy. And in true diner fashion, service is very quick and the food came out with hardly a wait.
Came to ritz diner just to try it out and it was pretty decent. I ordered the chicken Caesar wrap with a side of fries and it was pretty good! The fries were great! Other items ordered at the table were the chicken pot pie, fish and chips, and pastrami sandwich. Two of the orders (fish and chips and pastrami) came as lunch specials with a side of soup and soda. I tried the matzo ball soup and found it pretty flavorless. The chicken pot pie has a good filling but the crust is so thick it seemed underdone. It was so chewy and a really big turn off. Our server was friendly. Our seats were in a spot where the sun hit constantly, I’d really love to see them get some shades or something because it was really uncomfortable sitting there at times. I’d definitely go back to try something new and to get those fries again!

I didn't finish my food. Two bites and I was done. I didn't like the taste. I had brocolli, spinach, tomato, bacon omelette. The price was very high for a breakfast order. But its in a convienent location from our hotel and they open early so thats nice. The staff was nice.
Went to this diner with a craving for blueberry pancakes and a side of bacon. The waiter said he would check if they could make this kind of pancakes saying he thought only strawberry. He was leaving the table and I said "so if they don't have blueberry, you can bring the strawberry kind" or something like that. He then shouted to the cook an order of strawberry pancakes without even checking if there were blueberry. That kind of pissed me off. The food was average (pancakes felt a bit undercooked). Too many pancakes (3 big fat pancakes) and only that kind of syrup that is portioned in a plastic cup, and corn based. And at the end, a total of 25 bucks (tip included) for some strawberry pancakes and some bacon strips. I know it's mid town Manhattan but that just seemed too much 🤑
Very busy at 2 PM on Monday (Veterans Day). Quite pricey (all day menu, no lunch specials). Avocado, turkey, & swiss omelette with home fries and two piece of white toast with freezing butter and Smuckers marmalade (grape and orange) was $18.95, boxed ice tea was $3.50, tax was ‘estimated’ at $2.00 equals $24.45. It was packed, so I had to sit at the front table next to the cashier. The food came out oddly fast (within ten minutes; most likely 5 minutes), all male servers, the bathroom seems too small like it might be illegal (the door can’t close without slamming the toilet). I’m just knocking the points for the price ($25 for an omelette that is far less than IHOP quality and equivalent to the food truck for double the price). I gave a $5 tip (I didn’t get any service after my food was brought out besides getting the check).
Looks interesting. I have not been in awhile but li hear it's good in that neighbor and next to new Home Depot .
Pricey but nice ambient spot on the UES. Cool as it's one of the few spots truly open 24/7, and has a huge menu of classic diner foods. \n\nI've been for breakfast (omelets and pancakes) a couple t…

I visited this restaurant today 24/5/2025 for a dining experience after making a reservation a week in advance, specifically requesting a table with a window view. I was also willing to pay extra to secure this arrangement. However, upon arrival, I was informed that it wasn’t possible, which was disappointing. We came as couple and were given a four-seater table, despite there being a number of two-seater tables available and informed im as couple. The food and ambiance were acceptable, but what stood out negatively was an interaction with one of your staff staff. A female staff member told us to “book earlier next time,” even though I had already booked a full week in advance. This comment felt unnecessary and unprofessional since she knows i booked earlier Fortunately, the rest of the staff were polite and helpful. I hope you take this feedback constructively and ensure all your staff are trained to maintain a consistent level of professionalism, especially in customer communication. Thank you.
I have celiac and saw on their menu that they offer gluten free pasta. Once I arrived and tried to order I was told that there was not a single thing on the menu that was gluten free! And the waiter wasn’t very kind about it, did not try to work with me to find a way to order *something* while I was there with a big group. If you need gf options unfortunately I would not recommend going here :( but everyone else in my group loved the food !
I have been there before and had good diner food. Tonight was an exception. I ordered sweet potato fries with my burger. I got a clump of very dark, oily, limp sweet potato. I immediately asked the waiter for a plate to remove the fries as I indicated that they were not fresh, but rather, oily and limp and clumped. I stated that i could not eat them, I asked either for a fresh batch or plain fries... he took the plate and let me know it would be 2 min he returned with another clump of oily sweet potato only much hotter in temp. Again, not edible due to the oil content... he should have just gotten me the regular fries which were crisp and light as I could see that from the other customers plates... needless to say, I left them and just ate the burger. The diner wasn't packed service could have been better, I have eaten here maybe 10 times over a 5 year period. This is the first time I have had a negative experience. It's a shame because a good neighborhood diner is hard to come by.
French onion soup was inedible had 1 bite and has to toss it. It was like boiled water w onions in it truly diagusting. \n\nCurly fries no seasoned at all even ketchup couldnt save it.\n\nBurger wa…
I ordered online and they didnt have what i ordered and when i asked for a refund the workers and manager played stupid on not knowing how to give my refund back. They are stealing my money.
Ordered a bacon egg cheese sandwich and receive a plate with a mess looked like yellow vomit. Been ordering from this place for years and they used to make the best BEG sandwiches but not they send them to you on a plate, by the time it arrives your bagel is slacked in yolk so you can’t hold it cus it’s a slippery mess and it comes cold ! Staff is also rude, if you call to ask what has happened they hang up on you. Lovely for $19 dollars may I add !!!!!! Staying away from this place as it’s obvious they no longer care like they used to about quality of food and service.
Absolutely Horrid. Unfriendly Staff. Like they are doing tou a favor. Overcharging.ALL THE TIME. Things on their menu they do not even have ,- they take the order for ,- do not deliver ,- but you get charged anyway!! They assume the customers do not notice. There’s not much 24hr competition …in that area so they get away with it especially after midnight deliveries get messed up,- and overcharged. Nice system. They figure tired customers don’t notice .They are right. Many times we actually do not even look bec it’s food for later… so later on one forgets… Rudeness beyond belief.
Tourists do not come here!!!!! They took advantage of me bc I seemed confused and in a rush. I ordered Item A, they sat me down and 10 minutes later said they did not have it and I should pick something else. I chose Item B, which they did not serve and gave me Item C instead - I was in a rush and never ate at a diner before, so I just accepted it. The food was 6/10. They asked me what kind of salad I would like, giving me the impression that the salad was complimentary. Then they asked me if I wanted spaghetti, which I was confused about since I just ordered a full main, so I thought it also came with my meal. When the bill came they arbitrarily charged me 31 bucks for the whole lot, including the stuff I never consciously ordered! Not including tip. 🤯 do NOT come here if you’re a tourist and not familiar with diners / people who don’t seem to know their own menu!
DO NOT EAT HERE!!! The server was very unprofessional and unfriendly felt like you were being treated at a prison dining hall. What topped it off was that he overcharged me on the item that I ordered. When I questioned the manager he called the server over and he tried to play it off and the manager just simply adjusted the check and no apology whatsoever. The food quality was nothing to write home about to say the least. Also there was an ant or a fly crawling on the table. It makes you wonder about the hygiene as well as some of the other shenanigans that they play.... STAY AWAY!!
Where to start? It was very hot. The food was mediocre. But truly the only reason I’m even leaving this review is because of the treatment me and my friend recieved when paying. We asked to split the bill and the guy standing at the front doing the payment gave us the nastiest look along with an absolutely horrible and rude attitude. I honestly have never been treated like that in a restaurant before and can easily say I will never return back here. Not only was he so rude to us but he started speaking Italian and it honestly sounded like he was cursing us out as we were standing right there. I wish I got his name but I was left speechless at this encounter.
A WHOLE NINE DOLLARS for some ORANGE JUICE. Outrageous. Biggest scam of my life. Should've walked out instead of paying, that's my biggest regret of 2026
