Opinions de Il Tinello Ristorante New York
From the moment you enter Michael’s in midtown, you feel something different. You realize why certain places are deserving of the title “institution”. This decades-long power dining restaurant is a class above the rest. From the cozy decor to the amazing art collection, to the attentive and courteous staff led by dining legend Steve at the helm as manager to the decadent expertly prepared cuisine, this place is deserving of every single accolade. We started with a few craft martinis (my friend’s up, mine extra dirty) and went into the Korean chicken bites, caesar salad, burrata special and tartare for apps and I ordered the chefs lamb for my main with a side of delicious broccolini. The team brought out a full spread of desserts which was far too much but if anything it showed that they are willing to go above and beyond for their clientele. Will definitely be back next time I’m in the area. Thanks team!
We werent sure where to eat before our show and noticed Michaels and decided to go in and was a great decision. The restaurant itself is beautiful with retro red art on all the walls, service was amazing we sat at the bar . We were not able to dine in but enjoyed their happy hour options the Korean Fried chicken was delicious and Duck Bao Buns. Will definetly return!
Some colleagues took me here and told me about its California origins and Michael’s history himself and then he actually stopped by the table. It was lunch and I had a magnificent Cobb salad. Staff and environs wonderful.
I had the perfect dinner here for Valentine’s Day! Great food, atmosphere and staff all around. Appetizers to dessert was all delicious. I am not even a fan of Kale but even their Kale Caesar Salad was so tasty; I finished it. I definitely recommend this place.
Big fan of Michael's. Worked in the area for several years and had great business lunches a few times a year. Because I lived in a different part of the city, I never thought to try it for dinner. Recently, I was looking for a classic NYC fine dining restaurant in midtown good for families with kids for a family birthday celebration. A friend suggested we try Michael's and they delivered! The lovely hostess made it magical for our kids upon entry, we were treated with the table in the window, the food was fresh and tasty and the kids loved it! There is not a kids menu but they will do kids pasta, simple burger, steak, chicken, etc. One of our kids - the pickiest eater - ordered a butter pasta and said it was the best they ever had. We all tried it and agreed, had to order another! There is a pretty limited wine selection but all were very good. Beer selection could be improved. The classic room has been the setting for many business deals and I have fond memories of a few, enhanced by our recent family experience. Love the laid-back but first-class vibe and unpretentious service. Highly recommend!
Michael's is the perfect fine dining experience. I came here for my mother's 40th birthday and I really want to thank the staff for making it memorable. A complimentary birthday cake was given to us and the staff sang her happy birthday. The setting is luxurious and the wait staff have everything down to absolute perfection. The margarita pie was warm and cheesy and the fish was well seasoned and presented. I want to thank the manager Basdeo for making our night so special.
The food was good and the staff was superb. The dining room is also beautiful. We went for a weekday lunch and it was very much a business crowd. The vibe is borderline stuffy, but the staff was so kind that their warmth offset that.
I went in there for lunch. Great burger, it was a ground up ribeye steak. One of the better burgers I’ve ever had. I was in there early so it wasn’t very busy. I would certainly revisit this place when I am back in Manhattan
Very nice stylish restaurant with great art work. Loved the atmosphere
Classic NY power breakfast! Went on Juneteenth holiday, so it was easy to get into and to enjoy. First class food and service at business class prices.
Incredibly consistent expense account breakfast spot. Literally the only choice in midtown for a high end power breakfast
Michael’s still has its charm. From the moment you settle into a comfortable chair, you’re transported into a different world—one defined by relaxation and understated culinary mastery. The food is consistently fresh and perfectly seasoned, and the winter specials are an absolute must-try. The wine selection is equally impressive, with an award-winning list that always delivers. On our visit, we enjoyed a memorable 2007 Chambolle-Musigny. Service is excellent—attentive, knowledgeable, and present when needed without ever feeling intrusive. A place I truly love and one I’m always happy to return to.
I had an outstanding 5-star experience at Michael's. The food was flawless, earning a perfect 5-star rating. The service and atmosphere were also very strong, earning 4 stars each, which created a professional and inviting environment for an exceptional overall meal.
Came in first time for our 20th anniversary… Couldn’t have been more impressed! Absolutely fantastic experience! Food was excellent, and staff was attentive and very engaged! Loved it! Will definitely be back!
Came here for a dinner with colleagues. It's almost Halloween so the decor was themed artistically and was nice. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share and they were all solid. I got salmon for my entree and it was really juicy and nice.
Absolutely love this place—our new favorite spot! Every bite is delicious, with each dish offering its own unique twist. The service is excellent from start to finish, and we appreciate the round tables that make group dining feel cozy and connected. Even though it is crowded, the noise level is perfect for conversation. Can’t wait to go back
A great night out all together. Starting with a warm welcome at the door, the night continued to get better and better with lovely food and wine served by friendly staff in a beautiful setting.
Stumbled upon this place while on a work trip. AHHHHMAZING!!!!!! I had the fish special "skate with ramps". The sauce was maybe a buerre blanc, not sure but wow! For dessert I had Eton's Mess. A delightful mix of berry compote with vanilla ice cream, fresh cream and crumbled meringue. Service was top notch from the hostess to our waiter. Atmosphere was lovely and dimly lit with candles. I'll definitely be back. 10 out of 10!
Fantastic old world Italian restuarant. The specials are what to get. Fresh fresh fresh. Had rack of lamb special and it literally was the entire rack. The prosecuto and melon, unbelievable. No idea how they get such delicious melons. The wait staff is old world in terms of porters, waiters and captains. All dressed to impress.
From start to finish, this was an authentic Italian dining experience that exceeded expectations. The baked clams were tender and perfectly seasoned, with a buttery richness that brought out their natural flavor. The burrata was so creamy and fresh it felt like something straight out of Italy, paired with accompaniments that made every bite unforgettable. The calamari was light, crispy, and delicately fried — not heavy at all — letting the freshness of the squid shine through. The ravioli was pillowy and filled with rich flavor, with a sauce that tasted homemade and authentic. The chicken Alfredo was the ultimate comfort dish, with velvety sauce coating tender chicken and pasta cooked to perfection. Beyond the food, the staff made the experience just as memorable. Every person we interacted with was polite, attentive, and genuinely caring, making sure we felt welcomed and taken care of. It wasn’t just a meal — it was the kind of warm, family-style hospitality that makes you want to return again and again. If you’re looking for authentic flavors and an exceptional dining experience, this is the place.
5/5 star for everything from the moment we arrived until the moment we left! From the service, the food, the personalities ... it was just lovely. Jack was the highlight of our experience, as he's a yes man and took such good care of us all around. The ricotta cheesecake brought me back to my childhood and I almost teared up having the dish. Total nostalgic feeling 🤝🏽✨ We will be back each time we are in nyc, thank you!
It was a cozy and romantic restaurant with black-tie waiters who were attentive and friendly but never intrusive. We had a good conversation with Jesus, who came to the table to recommend the dishes of the day. His recommendations on the NZ rack of lamb and the 1.5 lb lobster with seafood pasta were spot on. Both dishes were delicious. The rack of lamb was tender, and the mushroom sauce complemented the dish. The lobster and seafood pasta were excellent. Victor, who also took care of us for the evening, was always checking to make sure we were comfortable. Jesus brought the homemade dessert table over. We had the Chocolate Mousse Cake and the Ricotta Cheese Cake, and they were both delicious. There was also a complimentary plate of biscotti to end our meal. Will definitely be back again.
I came here for my birthday with my best friend and I haven’t been to this restaurant since I was like 10 years old. The food was amazing and I think the portions were fair. I ordered the Calamari, and Trinette al Pesto. My friend ordered the Integrello Al tre Fungi and Pagalia E Fieno. I got to try all three and all 3 were amazing! My favorite has to be the Pagalia E fieno. The mix of cream with cooked ham and pasta may not sound like the most appetizing combination but it was amazing 😅. The mushrooms in the Integrello were delightful and I don’t even like mushrooms. I will say the Trinette al Pesto was great but it could have had less pesto (regardless still a great choice). We ended our meal with the cream puffs that had home made whipped cream, fudge and strawberries and it was so good! The cream was my favorite part. Overall great experience here, they did not allow your water to even be halfway done and they managed the floor well. It was a full house and we were cared for throughout the whole meal. We spend a total of 3 hours eating here. We did not finish our meals because we were so full so now I have leftovers for today 😋 Even the coat check was great! Definitely recommend for a date night or birthday.
Food, Service and Atmosphere are all excellent! The place is small and intimate. The manager is hands-on, and the bartender was great. My daughter said the Pollo Romana was "the best decision of her life." I asked for Bolognese sauce on my Ravioli; of course, it was excellent. Order desert; they're all epic. Highly Recommended...
Accidentally booked a reservation at their other location but was quickly accommodated by the wonderful staff. Super friendly and professional, the atmosphere is wonderful and dimly lit for a cozy and romantic vibe. All the little apps they serve with the bread were delicious and the pasta dishes were great! Highly recommend stopping in for some great Italian food and laid back atmosphere for date night or a nice family meal. Don’t skip dessert!!! I think we had the best cannolis to ever be made
A wonderful evening! Reservations a must! With all the choices available in NYC, will definitely make a repeat appearance. Service was impeccable, attentive and knowledgeable. Food was served with perfect timing and hot. FLAVORS ABOUND! Enjoyed the small intimate atmosphere. Picture are "Tuna Tartare", "Burrata -housemade, stuffed, over prosciutto"(special for evening), "Lamb shank osso buco with polenta"(also special for evening), "Veal Saltimbocca"
Food is ok, not spectacular as I had expected from previous reviews. The tomato was very good, but the rest was not very tasty. Service was great, the waiter’s was very attentive. The chair was badly worn and is in need of some tlc. It was not very busy when I was there.
It seems like making a reservation is the best idea. We visited for lunch, and it packed up quite quickly. The food was okay. The service was good.
A decent place for Italian! The only thing that caught us off guard was the pumpkin soup, which was really good but it was a special and we forgot to ask for the price. But the soup cost $30, which (for me) is pretty pricey. Other than that, the food here is pretty great. I particularly enjoyed the veal. The peppers that they serve are fantastic too. The service was good. The restaurant has nice decor but it was a bit too dark.
We have a Christmas tradition of coming here with friends, and the ambiance is always spectacular. The staff is kind, welcoming, and attentive. We started with the Caesar salad and oysters, which were fresh and delicious. We ordered the Lobster Pasta à la Diavola as the special of the day. While the flavor was very good, the pasta was undercooked and quite hard. One of my friends sent it back, and unfortunately, it still came out the same way. That said, this experience will not stop me from coming back. We genuinely love this restaurant, its atmosphere, and its people. I simply hope more attention is paid to consistency—especially with a dish highlighted as a special—because that level of detail is what truly sets a great restaurant apart.
Visited this renowned italian restaurant and once is enough. They seemed friendly enough, service was nice and old school which i harkens to old new york city dining however I think there is something a little grimy about announcing specials and not noting the price because I wouldn't have gotten the lobster pasta special at the grand price of $76 not only was the portion not to par the taste did not justify the price tag. I literally couldn't eat it. I had to take it home and it was forgotten in the fridge and thrown out. Shame. The tableside Caesar was a great display but was quickly ruined by the super tart and acidic taste of the dressing which was prepared from scratch table side. Give me the dressing from a bottle anytime please. This place is supposed to be an institution, it was just disappointing at how much it missed the mark. The cocktail was just okay of course overly priced at $26 and the tiramisu was practically inedible. One and done for me.
Amazing service up until the end of the night. They sat us immediately on a Saturday night without a reservation. We were waiting for a dessert menu and they forgot about us apparently. We waited 30 minutes before deciding to leave but still had to go up to the front to ask for our bill. Super sad about it because the dessert looked incredible and it had been a wonderful experience up to that point.
Apparently, as a woman, I didn’t have the authority to close the bill for our table. I asked for the check twice while my boyfriend was in the restroom, and the waiter ignored both times. When he returned, the waiter explained that he had been “waiting for the man to come back to see if he wanted something.” It’s disappointing to experience that kind of outdated attitude in an otherwise excellent restaurant. The food, service, and ambiance were all wonderful — it truly could have been a 5-star experience.
Four years living here, and this was the first time I felt uncomfortable in a restaurant. I didn’t like the service at all — zero warmth, pressure to order wine. I had barely sat down and they were already asking which wine I wanted. Hello? What’s the rush? The food is not worth the price. I have never felt such an urge to leave a place as I did the day I was there. I do not recommend it.
