Honestly one of the best pizza and Italian places in NYC. It's consistently delicious. Get the round pizza over the nonna style. The pasta arrabiata is sooo good. We're lucky to have it as a neighborhood fixture but the location probably doesn't attract too many New Yorkers from other neighborhoods - but it should! If you find yourself in Lower Manhattan this is a don't-miss spot.
When we lived in Battery Park City NYC over 6 years ago, this was one of our favorite restaurants that was several blocks from our place. We loved their dipping sauce for the fresh bread they serve before the entree. We would come here for special celebrations or when friends or family are visiting from out of town. We'd order a combination of pizza and pastas and eat family style. I wanted to buy the dip for the bread but they don't sell it. There is a kids playground nearby and it's just minutes away from the river view. I miss this place and haven't eaten here since I moved away from NYC! Update: Nov 2025, we came by with our parents and enjoyed the delicious food and amazing service. We had the burrata, steak, and barese pizza, which was a little spicy for my husband but not spicy for me. The steak was cooked nicely medium rare. Piedro our server made us feel so welcome and taken care of!
My friend and I were on a trip to NYC and wanted something close to the Jewish Heritage Museum. The food was so good. Make sure to get a side of crispy rosemary potatoes. We’re still talking about how amazing they were.
Steak was absolutely perfect – juicy and flavorful. Pasta was delicious and cooked to perfection. And the pizza… just like in Italy! Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for authentic taste and great service.

The outdoor seating was a perfect setting tonight. A nice breeze coming thru, you could hear music from battery park, it was a great start to the experience. Then our waiter was great. He gave us time with the menu, then answered our questions and offered recommendations. The hard rolls and tapenade were great while we waited for our food. The food was spot in to what I would imagine for a place like this. My daughter couldn't finish her ravioli while I struggled to finish the Fettuccine. My wife ordered the Calaprese pizza and was very satisfied. My wife had the Mezcal margarita, while I had the spicy margarita( their names escape me). They were both very good. This would be my only area of complaint, not enough to give a lower rating, it took a while for the cocktails to come out. We would have certainly each had a second, but those carried us thru the meal. All in all, it was very good, and we will stop back next time we are in the financial district.
Between the food and ambiance of the people who frequent the pizzabar, I couldn’t tell what I enjoyed more. Leaning towards the food because it comes in large portions and I wound up taking leftovers home. The service was also attentive and helpful, while I struggled with deciding what to get. Thinly cut fries on top of Chicken Parm had not crossed my mind until now. It’s been a few weeks and I can’t stop thinking about how delicious it was. Also got the beet salad which I devoured instantly. Pro tip: heat it up in the airfryer to get the ideal textural component all around.
Despite the location, the restaurant does not feel like a tourist trap. Food was very good - the ragu was meaty, tagliatelle was cooked well, the pizza was well made and well cooked. The bianca sauce was hearty with a great balance of cheese and mushroom flavours. Service was great too!
Really good pizza. Very solid crust. The cheese on the margherita was the perfect amount of browned and chewy. The salad either the carro and fennel was tasty. Great patio. the servers were all warm and friendly (even though we had a very vocal 2 year old). Will eat again
Absolutely loved it! It’s a hidden gem! My sister lives few blocks away and she wanted us to try this place and we loved it! The service was absolutely amazing and the food came out fresh and delicious! They have plenty of seating, beautiful bar area, one of the best pizza places in NYC!
Very friendly welcoming service from the team. Very different from the grumpy rude guy from last year. Pizzas were huge, of quality and yummy. Great chewy and crunchy crust. Very generous on basil unlike other places that you get 1 leaf as a decoration. Vegan option was avail as well. Snag a window seat area especially at lunch as main dining room seemed too dark. Nice decor all around.
This is probably hands down the best pizza and appetizers I have had second to my time in Italy. Great service and phenomenal appetizers, drinks, and food. Thank you for a fantastic meal our first time in New York!
at first bite I knew it was the best tasting pizza I've tried in a long, long time. Their meatballs are auperb, nothing fancy- just savory meatballs. Each ingredient in the pizza is special. Hard to describe. We were pleasantly surprised when we found this place. Compliments to the chef!
In the summer with my kids, I think it would be nice to take the ferry and come here for lunch. It's enough to come to the restaurant on foot. The outdoor terrace is nice and shaded, so it's cool. The atmosphere is nice inside. There's a bike path across the street from the restaurant. The pizza was so good.
Nice local stop for pizza if you’re looking for a place with quick and friendly service along with some classic pizzas. The dip for their bread is quite delicious though the bread itself felt a bit on the sweet side. We got the Diavolo pizza, where the crust was nice and thin and crunchy, the sauce had a small kick to it, and it was just a generally pleasant pizza. Nothing too special but definitely hit the spot for a slow Sunday afternoon. The staff were all very nice and quick, so we felt right at home. They also have a café next door to get your afternoon pick me up after your meal.
Inatteso has long been a beloved neighborhood spot, but my most recent visit left me disappointed. While the pizza remained reliably good, the experience fell short in other ways. Labor Day weekend, their signature bread and spread, an offering since the restaurant first opened, were not available. More concerning was the rushed atmosphere: despite a 9:15 reservation, with closing at 10, we found staff dismantling umbrellas and chairs around us while we were still dining. For a restaurant with such a strong reputation, management should ensure that guests feel welcomed until the very end of service
ridiculous pizza cook. I ordered a mushroom pizza that’s supposed to have three different kinds of mushrooms. Look at the emaciated pie I got. Shame on you, Inatteso. We used to like you, what happened? New cheap owners?
This was an extremely unfortunate experience. I ordered an iced tea after they said they had Sweet and Low, only to learn they didn't have it after all. I ordered the lasagna, a favorite dish of mine in most italian restaurants, and it was just bad. I don't know if it was a very strong cheese or bad meat or what, but it was not good. After they were aware of all this, the staff brought my check, and I ended up paying $42 for a bad glass of tea and one bite of terrible lasagna.
Eating here was a huge mistake. With their disrespectful and arrogant staff and tasteless food, it's just the right choice to spoil your day.
I really had a extremely bad experience here. For the steak, I asked for median rare. The inside is like that but see the outside, it is overcooked and it tastes really bitter. I asked the waiter and he just said that It is median rare and did not answer my question of the reason why this steak taste soft inside but bitter and hard to chew outside. He said that it was nonsense and he went away with a frustrated emotion. Non of the employee helps us. We ate the meals reluctantly for the reason that we did not want to waste the money that we spend. Moreover, the chicken is sour and all the meals are not delicious at all. What in the world is this? I am really hungry but I did not say anything because I didn’t want to disseminate the negative feelings to other customers.
