Opinions de Jack's Wife Freda New York
First time here after being recommended by a friend and I'll definitely be back. The service here was fantastic and the food/drinks even better. Was seated immediately with no reservations and everything was so quick. Very impressed
Bright, cozy spot with a great vibe. Food was fresh and really well done, drinks were solid, and the whole place just feels fun and welcoming. Easy place to enjoy a relaxed brunch or lunch in Soho. Would definitely go back. Just a bit loud and cramped.
Best breakfast I’ve ever had. Everything was fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. The service was warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere was beautiful and relaxed. Jack’s Wife Freda is a must-visit whenever we’re in NYC!
Absolutely loved Jack’s Wife Freda! The food was delicious, and the matcha was by far one of the best I’ve had. I went alone, and the experience was still so welcoming thanks to the amazing staff. Everyone had such positive, happy energy, but one staff member in particular who spoke Italian was especially kind and made me feel really comfortable. It instantly lifted my mood. Such a warm, feel-good place with great food and even better service.
A good restaurant to meet up with friends and family. The food is amazing and has a good selection of vegan, vegetarian and meat options. I highly recommend the vegetable curry bowl and the grilled eggplant baguette, some of the best curry bowl and sandwiches I've had. The ambience is very nice, it was filled to the brim with people so I recommend reserving a table if possible. The haloumi was garlicy and very tasty and combined with the grapes it made a great appetizer. Definitely recommend the place.
I came in for breakfast and was absolutely blown away by the delicious food, the friendly service, and the incredible ambiance of the place. My server, Mike, was so helpful when I was deciding what to get. I’m incredibly happy with the breakfast I got, poached eggs with roasted tomatoes, haloumi cheese, and sourdough toast. The manager, Cello, also greeted me when I came in and made me feel at home right away.
spots purely for the vibes. Sitting outside is the real star here — it’s perfect for people watching, soaking in the energy of the neighborhood, and feeling like you’re right in the middle of everything SoHo has to offer. Almost every time I’m there, there are influencers outside snapping photos, styling outfits, and creating content, which honestly just adds to the fun, buzzy atmosphere. The food is good and reliable, but this is definitely a place I come to more for the experience than a mind-blowing meal. That said, everything I’ve tried has been tasty, well-presented, and easy to enjoy whether you’re grabbing brunch, lunch, or a casual bite. It’s the kind of menu that works perfectly for lingering over conversation while watching the city move around you. Service is usually friendly and efficient, and the whole place has that effortlessly cool, downtown café feel. If you’re looking for a spot to see and be seen, enjoy great outdoor seating, and absorb classic SoHo energy, Jack’s Wife Freda is a great choice.
I visited Jack’s Wife Bodega in New York City on my own, and the experience was surprisingly warm and inviting from the moment I walked in. The ambience was cozy with a stylish, modern touch—bright enough to feel lively, but still relaxed and comfortable for solo dining. The staff was welcoming and attentive, making the space feel friendly without being overwhelming. The service moved smoothly, and I never felt rushed. The menu had a great variety, and the dish I ordered was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. Everything tasted thoughtfully prepared, and the portion sizes were just right. The drink options complemented the food well, and the overall pace of the meal made the experience feel peaceful and enjoyable. Even dining alone, it felt like a place where you can settle in, enjoy your time, and feel completely at ease. Jack’s Wife Bodega delivered a lovely, relaxed visit with great food, warm service, and a charming atmosphere.
Always a pleasure to dine here! Staff is always so pleasant! Nothing hits like the chicken schnitzel!!! The mash potatoes are so pure it is not even funny how good they are!!! Always get the green hot sauce to dip your chicken in, tasty!! I also needed a little drinky drink so I went with something refreshing which was the violettes aviation was it! Always a good time here !!
Really friendly staff, very engaging. Nice airy atmosphere inside with a beautiful patio outside. Food was spectacular, I'm coming back to try more of the menu for sure. Drinks were all great. I rarely order cocktails off of a menu but it just made sense to do it here. Can't wait to come back.
The atmosphere was amazing and the waitstaff were absolutely lovely. Usually I wouldn't give such an expensive place 5 stars but the quality of their food made up for everything. Not huge portions, but enough to keep you full and delivers on taste. Also many options which makes it hard to choose but also good for gluten free people.
My girlfriend and I visited Jack’s Wife Freda in SoHo for a late breakfast after reserving a 10:45am table, and it was the perfect brunch experience. We sat in the outdoor dining area. Seating was a bit cozy, but the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. She ordered the Mediterranean Breakfast paired with a refreshing matcha, and I went with the Jack’s Breakfast, cooked perfectly medium rare. To fully take in the Jack’s Wife Freda experience, we shared their famous waffles, and they absolutely lived up to the hype. Light, crisp, and delicious. The service was phenomenal from start to finish. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to enjoy a flavorful, charming brunch in SoHo. We’ll definitely be back!
Good spot for brunch! The staff is kind and tries to be attentive, but the place gets very busy, so it’s hard to get consistent attention — we were helped by three different servers during our visit. It’s also quite loud, which makes it a bit hard to relax. The food was tasty — the mains were delicious and the coffees were on point. I personally didn’t love the rose waffles (just not my flavor preference), but overall, everything was well-prepared and nicely presented. I’d like to visit another location to see if the experience feels a bit calmer, but I understand SoHo is always a busy area.
A staple of the NYC food scene that is a very present heartbeat in SOHO, Jack’s Wife Freda lives up to the expectations of good food and good times eating said good food. Brunch is superb and dinner doesn’t disappoint. Thinking of the menu still makes me salivate if I’m honest. If you ever find yourself in SOHO make the time to indulge in this staple of a restaurant!
A place that feels like home🍴 Jack’s Wife Freda has a busy yet lively atmosphere filled with tourists and New Yorkers alike sitting down to enjoy delicious food. I ordered Maya’s Breakfast Bowl and I was amazed. The vegetables were all fresh + the green hot sauce was perfection. You can’t go wrong with shakshouka - my mother ordered the green one and the tomatillo sauce had so much flavour. It paired well with the challah bread which wasn’t dry. As for the spaghetti and chicken meatballs, the sauce was good. The tomato was mixed with a bit of pesto? I would give it the same notes as the burger. Jack’s burger was mediocre at best. But like I mentioned earlier, there are other places to satisfy your need for a good burger/pasta. ‼️ I highly recommend coming here if you have an itch for Mediterranean comfort food or want to try something new. DO NOT come here if you’re going to get something traditional (ex. a burger and fries) because that isn’t the standout of this restaurant.
Jack's Wife Freda is an iconic brunch spot in SoHo, especially busy on weekends. My friend and I finally had a chance to try it for the first time yesterday. If you're a group of 3-4 people and have a booth, the experience may be better, but we were seated at a table for 2, squished between two other tables. The noise level was quite high and the person sitting right next to me was talking so loudly I could barely hear my friend. As for the food, I ordered a Salmon Burger with french fries, which was quite tasty. My friend ordered Jack's Breakfast (including skirt steak, 2 eggs, roasted tomatoes, fingerling potatoes, pickled onions and sourdough toast), which was a lot smaller than we'd both expected, especially considering the price. We didn't leave with the best impression, but perhaps if you're seated outside, at the end or in a booth, the experience would be better.
Went to Jack’s Wife Freda today and I honestly wanted to love it… but the food just wasn’t it. Customer service was actually great — our waiter was super sweet so this is strictly about the food. The green shakshouka was genuinely awful, like I couldn’t even finish it. The tuna salad was very mid, nothing special at all. The cauliflower was actually good, I’ll give them that. But the potatoes were the only thing that was actually enjoyable enough to keep eating. Overall, vibes and service were there, food was not. Wouldn’t go back for the food alone.
Overall not a great experience. Pros: -Most plates were ok tasting, have had better interpretations at other jacks wife Freda locations -Area and establishment were very nice looking Cons: -We kept getting encouraged to leave by being rushed out and told last call various times -Steak frites was 75% ligament and fat -We weren't even allowed to take drinks to go -Splitting the check was extremely frowned upon so it made the environment uncomfortable
We love Jack's Wife Freda on Lafayette Street. The food is consistently extraordinary, and every member of the staff is warm, professional, and welcoming. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into both the menu and the service, and that’s why we keep coming back. However, the noise level has become completely unacceptable. During our most recent visit, the volume reached an astonishing 890 a level that feels unsafe for staff who work long shifts and extremely uncomfortable for diners. It makes conversation nearly impossible and detracts from what should otherwise be a wonderful dining experience. Unfortunately, the current handling of sound and music makes that very difficult. I strongly urge management to reconsider the volume and explore acoustic solutions such as turning down (or even off) the music and installing sound-absorbing materials, such as fabric or acoustic treatments on the ceilings, would make an enormous difference. The food and team earn an A+. Sadly, the atmosphere, due solely to the excessive noise, earns an F. We truly hope this can be addressed, because we would love to continue supporting and dining at this special restaurant.
