Opinions de Jadis Wine Bar New York
Beautiful spot. Absolutely perfect romantic atmosphere for a date. Brick walls, good music vibe, high quality wine flowing. And, the cheese board was divine.
Aesthetically appealing space overall with wood finishes, exposed brick, and interesting furniture. There is a nice lounge space for a large group in the back, and the restaurant has nice plates for sharing. Books and games available.
Came here for the first time on Valentine’s Day weekend, great to be back to indoor dining in NYC. Owner was very generous and kind, service was great and socially distanced. Definitely coming back!
One of my favorite wine bars in the city. Light bites such as sandwich to quiches to salads drive the menu here. Small space with low lighting. Perfect date spot.
Had a lovely birthday dinner! Food is very good and well-priced. Cute and classy vibe without being pretentious or expensive
My boyfriend and I decided to come to Jadis for a quick drink on a Sunday Night. Jadis was one of the few restaurants that were open past 10pm which was great for us because we were lucked out on other restaurants that closed at 10pm. Jadis has their menu online. All you have to do is scan their barcode and the menu appears. You would have to your place your order with one of their waiters. Good customer service would like to come back in the afternoon though.
I had not visited this place in years and feared that like many other restaurants, it had closed or terribly declined in quality like so many of my other favorites. But no!!! It is alive and thriving and still as wonderfu as it was 5 years ago. The food is soo good, the atmosphere is wonderful and it’s just a classy tasteful place that I will keep coming back to.
Incredible food and such a lovely owner and experience. Highly recommend!!
This place is really chill. Excellent pricing, good menu, friendly staff and an atmosphere that you don't have to scream to converse with one and other. If you sick of loud crowded place, give this place a try.
We ended the evening at Jadis and were pleased by the great atmosphere and the good wine selection. Service was excellent
Natalie is incredible! Some of the best service I’ve gotten in Manhattan. The Happy Hour is an incredible deal and don’t skip on the cheese board!
Totally cute wine bar on LES with surprisingly excellent food. The salmon blinis were outstanding (got a 2nd order). Lots of good wines by the glass
Lovely, cozy space and amazing 5-7 daily happy hour. I was looking for a place for a group of women on a Saturday afternoon/eve and this was absolutely perfect. Everyone was charmed by the place and it was nice being able to chat with friends in a living room-like setting (couches!) while attentive servers brought us drinks (and plenty of water). Happy hour prices were great, but regular prices are reasonable too. // Update: I've since brought a couple of groups here on weeknights and still love it. It's quiet enough for conversation, which makes it a rare find(!), and there's something good for everyone (wine, beer, cider, cocktails, vegetarian & gluten-free food options...). Perfect spot for a friendly meetup.
Wonderful budget friendly esoteric wine list in a dark refined environment, helpful casual but effective service that gives honest answers. Nice tapa style and small dish (farm to table in a way) approach. If you go in the evenings, bring a date! Nice variety of people and not too loud. A peaceful back room too.
Jadis! My FAVORITE wine bar in NYC and go-to spot since years. Love the interior design, the Jadis crew and the owner Edit is the sweetest person. Delicious food and outstanding wine selection. Daily happy hour till 7pm. Great for bigger groups or date night.
Love this place! Always a go too when you want to get out with some friends, have some good food, drinks and be in a comfortable atmosphere. The service is always amazing and I can’t recommend this place enough! It’s a must go!!
My favorite wine place on the Lower East Side. Beautiful space, calm atmosphere, perfect small plates and always attentive staff. Great for groups or private party for two. Big thanks and hug to an amazing bar women Edit
Love love LOVE this place. A friend and I visited recently and the owner is to put it bluntly - a complete legend. Engaging, funny, beyond knowledgeable and generous, we ended up staying for many glasses of wine and some delicious cheese too! Will definitely be going back.
Good place. Big wine selection. Only one tap beer, however, the beer was good, fresh and cold and they clean their lines. There were no unpleasant aftertastes or odours like in most bars.
This is a very cute wine bar, great for dates, in the East Village. They have a large selection of reasonably priced wines and a menu of light foods to eat too. The mac and cheese tartlettes and mushroom truffle risotto puffs are particularly good.
Lovely space with great music, chill vibes and quiet conversations filling the space. The service is so sweet and so attentive, you will just feel so taken care of. Perfect for a date, be it with a person or a book.
Excellent service and customer care, delicious variety of wines, super yummy taster plates… (The bacon wrapped scallops are mouthwatering!) A great intimate space to celebrate a dear friends birthday, and I will return many times over.
Cute place for dinner or just drinks. Vibes are super chill. Would come back with friends or a bigger group
The bœuf Bourguignon that you eat as Jadis is delicious! As if I was back in France <3 Every thing looks so good! And the wine selection is great! Every person working at Jadis amazing, they are so caring, polite, amiable and considerate! They help me out when a homeless literally attack me in the street!! They made me feel safe and protected!
Food was superb. Happy hour is a bargain. Cute place. Only complaint is bar seats face a barrier between counter and kitchen so limited ability to chat with staff.
Drinks are great, HH until 6pm. Food is delicious- our favorite is ceviche. However, best part is the service, we always have the same waiter and he is nice, prompt and knowledgeable!
An amazing wine list to match an amazing menu! Their duck moose is delightfully delicious and the quiche is crispy and sinful. A surprising find in a dumpy neighborhood and worth beong on the East Side.
Jadis is my favorite bar in New York. Not only do they have an incredible environment, they also have fantastic food and a diverse wine list. Pro tip: Try the grapefruit sangria. My girlfriend doesn't like grapefruit but even she loves the sangria.
What a charming and slightly hidden wine bar! This is off the beaten path of most LES spots, but definitely worth a visit. Wonderful wine list and delicious bites line the menu of this cozy spot.
Great Happy Hour Deals, amazing location and ambiance, very attentive staff!
Been eyeing this place for awhile. I will be back again and again. The drinks, the food, the vibes, the staff.
Edit, the owner is the friendliest and sweetest owner I've ever met. She has unique wines from Europe like Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia etc. but also has from the historical wine countries like France, Italy, beside the American ones. The food is also amazing, so this place is a little gem in the heart of lower Manhattan! <3
My partner and I have frequented this place likely for close to two yrs now. We have also brought most of our family and friends here. We love the romantic/cozy vibe, wine and food! They also have gf bread for charcuterie which is a HUGE plus for me!
Good happy hour and relaxing ambiance. Loved the interior design, reminded me of a wine cellar with its low lighting and the brick. Like many NY spots, so much bigger than you can expect from the outside.
Went for a glass of wine and ended up closing the place out it was so good. The wine selection they have is wide and all the staff is knowledgeable enough to help those of use who have no idea what we actually like in wine. Pricing is super reasonable and can get away with around 50$ per person for a couple of glasses of the good stuff
Came here to celebrate just getting married. Everything was perfect. The staff treated us with so much care. I would recommend this place to anyone. I believe one of the staff members name was Edith and she was literally everything! Also the food! The bacon wrapped scallops and the tiger shrimp were yummy stand outs.
One of my favorite intimate wine bar/restaurants on the Lower East Side. The wine menu is so diverse and the food is super tasty and authentic. Perfect for catching up with a friend and also great for a date night. Maybe a first date night rather lol. I’ll definitely stop by again.
This place is a gem. The owner is incredible; she provided very personalized, high quality service. The wine selection is unique and delicious. We had bacon wrapped scallops and escargot - which melted in the mouth and paired beautifully with the wine. Don't pass this place by!
One of the best happy hours I've been to in the city! We went at around 5 on a Thursday and we were one of the only tables inside. The server was attentive and kept our drinks filled. What we ordered: I started off with the seasonal wine and my boyfriend got the Aperol spritz. My wine was great, but the aperol spritz could have used more aperol. Then i ordered the sangria and my bf got a beer. We also split the cheese spread, which was prepared nicely, but was nothing special (but also only $6 so I guess we shouldn't have had high hopes). Overall the value for the money here is great! This HH is definitely worth checking out.
small, intimate setting with great eats and a nice wine selection. we arrived a little before 8pm and were greeted promptly and sat. would make an excellent date spot. highly recommend!
Amazing wine and steak was fantastic !
Nice little wine bar with a decent, reasonably priced selection. Went in here on a Wednesday night after a dinner with my girlfriend. Helpful servers, chill ambiance, and good wine. Not much else you can ask for from a wine bar
Quiet cozy wine bar with great selection of wines. Had a Cote de Rhone, risotto puffs, salmon crackers and, bread and olive oil. Everything was great! If you want a place where you can hear your date because it's not loud and wonderful food you should come here.
My wife and I have been visiting Jadis for 10+ years, and each time we visit we’re delighted by the cozy, relaxed atmosphere. We held a small gathering to celebrate our marriage at Jadis nine years ago, and recently hosted friends for a birthday celebration. Edit - the owner / manager is very friendly and accommodating, and she is a helpful food and wine guide enabling our gatherings at Jadis to be a hit. We’ll definitely be back!
Simply the best! Truly feels like home
Hosted my birthday here this year and we had the best time! The food was excellent, our waitress was amazin & everyone raved about it!!
I didnt got to try the food because they were doing last call when i walked in, but it worked out becaue i honestly just wanted a drink for the night and call it the day. This whole area is full of bars, clubs and rooftop, but i wasn’t looking for anything crazy. This is is why Jadis was perfect, chill, not crowded at all, nice and relaxing music, its a wine bar but they also have a few selection of draft beer. This was great. I recommend if you just wanna chill night and have that one drink before calling it the night. And the place is also beautiful inside.
Such a lovely place! I came for some happy hour drinks and a snack. I also needed respite from the heat. The drinks were good, the snacks nice, the atmosphere charming and comfortable to be there by the bar as a solo visitor. I must say that the service was fantastic and it felt really like the staff were on top of everything. Professional, warm and attentive. I highly recommend it.
Always such a great time when I come here! The staff are so warm & welcoming, and the whole vibe is so nice. I love their happy hour!!
I loved this place! Great wine selection and cozy vibes! Their charcuterie board was delicious and came with a gf bread option! Great service and nice staff!
Having recently had only one family dining experience here, I hope to soon remedy that (with the added plus of its perfect location downtown being an equidistant walk between both of my adult kids). I just love this place with its cozy and welcoming ambience and terrific reasonably priced wine selection (including some eastern European and organic wines well worth knowing about). Well crafted and delicious small as well as larger plates to share, and the attention to detail is really admirable... I wasn't going to let even the tiniest scrap of that gorgeous poached pear on the cheese plate be cleared away. Easy to see why it has successfully endured for this long. Thank you for a terrific time!
I absolutely loved coming here and will be coming back! My friend and I were looking for a nice establishment in LES to have our quarterly girl chat lolll. Although we did not make Jadis HH (happy hour), we still wanted to experience going to a wine bar. Our server/hostess, Natalie, was very lovely and made great wine suggestions for someone like me, who is not particularly knowledgeable about wine. She was very informative and attentive, which gave us a nice balance compared to other establishments where staff might be overbearing/neglectful. We started with the Kir Royal drink (Natalie's recommendation) and it was just what I was looking for :) The burrata appetizer, which was perfecttt. I ordered the Branzino Fillet, and my friend ordered the Skirt Steak (from the big plate section). We were highly satisfied with both of our meals. The crème brûlée and Moscato were a perfect way to wrap up dinner. Usually, when I eat out, I always have to take leftovers, but everything was the right portion. Not too small or large...just the right amount for you make room for the next thing lollll. It's a perfect place for date night or if you want a quieter place to catch up with friends. My friend and I honestly had no complaints about each dish and drink that was brought out to us. I wish I had taken more photos, but I was too lost in the sauce with how good everything was. Plus, I like supporting family-owned/small businesses as well :)
Had a delicious meal here! Highly recommend the duck rillette and the burrata. Wines and cocktails were solid, and service was warm and prompt. Reasonably priced and cozy digs as well!
I adore Jadis and its cozy vibe, but I want to specifically call out their superb service. The owner, Edith, is so thoughtful, and the curly-haired young woman who was our server on a very busy Saturday night was exceptional at navigating between tables and handling various requests with grace and attentiveness. Love!
We came to Jadis to celebrate my roommate’s birthday with a group of 11 girls, and it could not have been a better experience! The family-style meal was incredible — every dish was fresh, high-quality, and full of flavor. The service was just as amazing as the food — every single staff member was so kind, attentive, and accommodating to our large group. You can really tell how much care they put into both their food and their hospitality. Highly recommend Jadis for any occasion — we’ll definitely be back!
My friends and I randomly walked into Jadis after a friends show. We loved it here! We were a group of 12 and Jadis quickly accommodated us in a cute back area. All exposed brick, which I love. The service was great, super attentive, people who work here are so nice, everything came out quickly. Brussel sprout salad was delicious! Great date and group spot. We would definitely come back again!
I’ve been to Jadi’s a few times for dinner/drinks and again this past week for a hosted dinner for my birthday. I can honestly say the staff, food, and overall experience at Jadi’s NEVER disappoints. Edit (the owner) is so kind and knowledgeable for hosting events/dinners and they have great options to accommodate gluten free or other allergies whether you’re there for a regular meal or planning a special night!! Cannot recommend enough to come for a night out with friends or a date night!!
Really cool and relaxed wine bar in the LES. Service was great and they explained a lot of the options to fit your taste. Happy hour prices are great, ranging from $7-10 with an ample selection of red and white as well as small bites. The outside is perfect to drink solo and people watch or read. The inside is also intimate yet relaxed. Highly recommend this wine bar.
I just had the best creme brûlée and espresso here! Service is very accommodating, we started as a two top and 3 other people joined us and servers immediately helped us. One of my friends said she comes here for years. She had the garlic shrimp and burrata and looked delicious. It’s a special lowkey spot in New York.
We live in area for years and never walked by this little stretch where Jadis is located. And the server said they are here for 20 years. Wow. Great happy hour pricing! We shared 3 appetizers and 4 glasses of wines and with tax it came out to $62.44. Thats a steal nowadays. The friendly servers were very attentive and on top of us. Thats a plus for us since we are fast speed drinkers and diners. We can't wait to come back when our parents visit because they have a great beer menu, aperitif and cocktails as well; all normally priced. Dinner menu has a steak below $30 and their creme brulee is also on my list next time. Thank you for a beautiful summer afternoon.
I stumbled upon this gem of a wine bar and it's easily become one of my favorite spots in the city. The atmosphere is perfect - intimate and stylish, but still super relaxed. The wine list is extensive and really well-curated, with something for everyone from casual drinkers to serious oenophiles. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, and they made some fantastic recommendations. Plus, they have delicious small plates that pair perfectly with the wine. If you're looking for a cool wine bar in NYC with great vibes, this is it.
I had the loveliest birthday dinner here! The owner/chef and service was fabulous. They made me and my 17 (!!) friends feel incredibly well cared for. The food was delicious as was the wine. Highly recommend booking for large parties here - the process was smooth and very rea$onable. 10/10!
Went for drinks; service was attentive, especially for how busy the place was on a Friday night (we were sitting at the bar counter near the door). Would return again.
This is one of my go-to cheap wine bars. There are no shocking discoveries in the wine list, but it's more of the old-reliable. The space, despite cramped quarters and less-than-great furniture, somehow manages to be comfortable. The only downside, for me, is that often there is smokiness from toasting bread and it stays with you after you leave.
Great vibe in a quiet neighborhood, but the mood and atmosphere was just right for a cozy small dinner. Loved the Alsacienne with bacon and a crisp bite. The wait staff was very up to the task always making sure your glass of water was filled. Definitely will return.
We liked it overall -the waitress was great, the food was ok but it was a good place to kill time and have a few bottles of wine with friends.
A well kept secret, this is a great little wine bar. Good for girls nights out, wine nights out, and romantic entangles alike - this little spot will. Not. Let. You. Down. Delicious, warm, and inviting. You’ll never want to leave. Trust me.
I had one of the best escargot in years. Service is fantastic and very helpful. The gluten free bread my friend ordered was amazing and I was pleasantly surprised. Wine list is very good but I have to say the by the glass can improve little. Still a very good experience overall. Definitely will go back for the escargot.
This is a nice French tapas bar. They have small tasty plates, and their wine selection is good. In addition to a few tables and the bar area in the front, they have a nice comfy couch corner in the back. It has never been that crowded when I've gone so it's a good place for a larger group of people. The bacon-wrapped scallops are amazing, and the cheese plate complements the wine so these two are always on my orders when I come. This is not a bad spot for a date either with a couple strategically intimate corner tables.
Popped in here after having dinner at a place nearby where they did not serve alcohol. Great place if you are interested in sitting down and being able to take in conversation from your companion. Wines are priced from $8+, so some of them could be pricey, but they have a decent selection of by the glass wines, that you can also get by the carafe or the bottle. Beware, we sat down near the front at the "bar" but they actually do the cooking there, so the waitress will take your orders from your side of the bar. Downside to this is that if you've already eaten, you watch them prepare some appetizing food and may be tempted to order more to eat.
The minute you walkin it's like wow. What a great hidden gem then you find out it's been around for 19 years. Great intimate spot. Great for dates. The back area is rustic open brick face. Thers a area with a couch, feels like a living room. The service was great. There was one person working the whole spot on a Sunday evening and he was doing a great job being attentive to everyone! The food was good. Didn't wow us. My friend loved the escargot. The garlic butter was great.. we had the garlic shrimp, duck cassoulet ,escargot and beef bourgion. Definitely will go back for the vibe.
4 stars overall because the service was wonderful and the prices reasonable for New York. Great for a larger party. Tiger shrimp and charcuterie plates were lovely. Excellent and well priced selections of natural wines.
An intimate dining experience. It’s a bit tight at the front but plenty of space in the back. We ordered escargot and ahi tuna tartare for appetizer then beef bourguignon and skirt steak for entrees. We thought it was tasty but not amazing. We also shared a bottle of Côtes du Rhône. Would recommend for a date spot.
I really really enjoyed the sandwich I had here. However, I ordered the cider and it was poured in a wine glass in just a few ounces as if it was wine?? Also, I found the staff somewhat inhospitable. I don't recall anyone smiling and staff members bumped me more than once without any acknowledgement. It was kind of busy so maybe those were unfortunate side effects?
Clean, pleasant service. Delicious desserts. But then, when I was in this establishment, the air conditioners did not work, and it was hot outside. We had to leave.
Food was very meh (I ordered the artichokes, olives, and shrimp), under salted/seasoned, and overpriced, but I enjoyed a great orange wine from Hungary. I feel like this place is great for drinks but not food.
The food is variable and inconsistent. Patron service experience can be more fulfilling with greater attention to detail and follow through from the servers. Perhaps, the servers will benefit from a monthly/seasonal client- patron training. The Orange wine selections truly saved the experience.
Stopped here last night around 12:30 for a late night bite. Drinks and service were fantastic, but the food was inedible. Slimy beets, overcooked bland pasta, tough and overcooked bacon-wrapped scallops. I rarely ever leave bad reviews! The food came out suspiciously fast... possibly they start microwaving it that late at night? Huge disappointment. We left our plates unfinished, fed the scallops to our dog and made sure to tip our waiter 20 percent as it definitely wasn't the great serving staff's fault.
To the owners: you should be very concerned about the woman working yesterday (Saturday evening) at the front of house, being the first impression of your business. Her negative energy and awful attitude is reason enough not to return. She was rude and had a chip on her shoulder from the moment we walked in. We almost left, but decided to stay since the place was cute and there was plenty of seating available. Good quality wine and drinks. But the service was a turnoff. An example- I had asked her how much a spritz was and her response was ‘I don’t know, $15-$20 dollars, you can check the menu yourself, here’s a qr code’. Doesn’t know the menu and can’t event be bothered to confirm for a customer? We also got 20% auto gratuity on a bill for 2 people (6 total drinks), which isn’t right. Especially when the service is shit and there’s no way she deserved 20%.
They say it's a wine bar, yet they won't show you the bottle they served, do not make you sample it, and come over to pour your carafe in your glass for you so they can take it away. Ya, ????. Ironically, we would have stayed for dinner, if not for the poor, unfriendly, unprofessional service. Too bad, because the setting looked nice
Female bartender was angry I only ordered water and yelled "take your trash with you" when I left and through my napkin at me then locked the door, locking the rest of the customers inside. She was very rude and aggressive. The manager seemed scared of her and the other customers were shocked. Do not go to this place for a casual drink. The atmosphere is uptight and terrible service.
I ordered a foie gras, it was too salty and untasty. I love foie gras froid and this one wasn't a good quality one. The bread that came with it was a dry poor quality brioche. Everything around the foie gras was very sweet as the jams and the brioche. The restaurant is very dark, we barely see what we eat. The manager wasn't pleasant at all as he insisted for me to eat another dish.
The server was kind enough to let me use the bathroom after a long day… once I saw the interior decor, I immediately fell in love. It’s both cozy and romantic. Perfect for a night cap or a night alone. My friends and I had a glass of one of the Spanish wines that a sweet lady (who I presume to be the owner) recommended. It was delicious!! Will be back soon. UPDATE (8/8/25): I’ve been back to Jadi’s several times since I stumbled upon it a few years ago but nothing could prepare for the abhorrent, pushy, and borderline aggressive service my friends and I received on Saturday evening. As someone who has long worked in the service industry, I’m appalled. The server messed up our dinner order (mistakes happened), dropped the cake on the table without a birthday candle for a dear friend (it’s the little things), scoffed at our request for an itemized receipt (after mistakenly adding an entree item), but then proceeded to automatically grat 20% for a group of 5 (when the standard is 6). To add insult to injury, she hovered over our table and asked if we needed anything no less than 5x in 30 minutes as we’re finished up dessert and a bottle of wine. Not to mention her taking my glass of wine off the table before I finished! It would have been one thing if it were a busy evening or the end of the night, but it was 10:30 on a very slow Saturday. I recommended Jadi’s to my friend who made the reservation given that she wanted an intimate birthday celebration but I fear none of us will be back after the server’s behavior. We work incredibly hard for our money and it doesn’t make sense to spend $500+ on an experience that left much to be desired.
I have been to Jadis multiple times and have had a great experience, but last night we had an extremely disappointing experience with an employee/manger. When we received the bill we noticed we were charged one extra glass of wine, I notified the employee who has turquoise hair of the mistake which he then proceeds to tell us it’s not a mistake and “he wouldn’t remember an extra glass of wine after drinking four” insinuating we were drunk. We all had either 2/3 glasses of wine over three hours with food, therefore very well aware of our consumption. Then he kept proceeding to tell us that he’s “sober”. This is an unacceptable response to a customer over a simple $12 mistake. Genuinely hope that this is a one off experience.
