Lunch time at the old Limelight...man oh man can these walls talk... love restaurant week ....this lunch special was $ 26.00 for some amazing food... first had the edamame dumplings , truffle oil and miso broth....so lite and delicious I could have easily had 6 more dumplings...next was the Beijing chicken, red bean sauce and candied walnuts.... dish came out hot and chicken cooked perfectly in the red bean sauce.. the candied walnuts were awesome, nice sized and crunchy completing the dish...dessert of course I'm not passing up on a vanilla creme brulee with chocolate chip cookie....so delicious , perfect crunch on the top of the brulee... service and staff were great and would definitely return to try other dishes... #meecheatsny #juelan #limelight #restaurantweek

An amazing restaurant and the quality of the food is on point. This is a real separation from the other outdoor dining areas. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Parking everywhere....

God used my son to make this happen for me. The place is high end, upscale. Small cozy type ambience. No long waiting for service. No long waiting for Appetizers or main course. The Waiters and Food Servers were on it. Your table is cleaned up and readied for your next course. I was quite satisfied!

Love the outdoor seating available now in their rose garden. Book a reservation on opentable. Pretty easy to get a lunch spot but plan ahead for dinner. I had the veggie dumplings and they were delish! Lots of great options. A little pricey but you're also paying for ambiance! Support local restaurants!

Went here on a date a few weeks ago on a Monday night. 5 stars overall. Food and atmosphere are on point. If you are looking for high end Chinese/Asian fusion in a trendy spot - this place is it. We enjoyed all the dishes and to be honest some of the portions were quite generous which we weren't expecting. The sticky rice and the lettuce wraps in particular were quite tasty. For a few apps, multiple cocktails and a shared entree - the check came out to $250ish tax and tip inclusive. Felt it was a good value overall. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant and return. Good for date nights and going out with friends. Now where the restaurant could use a little bit of improvement - service was not horrible but it wasn't great either. There wasn't anyone really at front of the house and I wish our waiter checked in us a bit more. Let me put it this way I had to chase the waiter down for our check. Which now reminds me - our food took a really long time to come out and while we were waiting our waiter comes back out and re-confirms our order. Seems like they had an off night. It was Monday and really slow initially - sometimes I feel restaurants are more of a well oiled machine when they are more full.

Had dinner at Jue Lan yesterday on Valentine’s Day and it was a vibe! Loved the dim lights and candle lit dinner experience. I love this type of cuisine so this was a perfect date idea. The food was delicious. We ordered the BBQ Chicken Lollipops and edamame as appetizers 10/10. For entrees we had chicken lo mein , pork fried rice and the charred chicken and broccoli. Everything was delicious. Definitely will be going back to try other items off the menu. Mango frozen margaritas 10/10 ! Nice and strong 🤣 Shoutout to the employees. Everybody was nice and sweet. Especially our waiter Edgar. Thank you for your amazing service. Definitely recommend this restaurant

The food was yummy… I loved the spring rolls with the soy sauce ! The decor was beautiful My server was nice! If I had to say a “ con “ It would be that all they played was rap/hip hop….i think a little R&B and different Caribbean music would have been nice to hear however this was a MINOR con because I would def come back! Perfect spot for a nice drink ( the lychee martini is 10/10) with the girls and/or date night!

Nice vibe great food. Pricey but atleast it didnt taste like your everyday Chinese food. I will be telling others about this place and I can't wait to go back and try their shrimp tempura again it's amazing!!! I had their Special Rice here as well as the Beijing Chicken. I ordered tempura on the side because it was much more enjoyable to me than the chicken. You can eat here on a date. With friend's, and with family. Jue Lan Club didn't disappoint.

I love love love the is place. This place is super chic and I love having dinner here with my partner. Love the ambience and how attentive the waiters and helpers are. They are always on top of everything. Food is great ! Every time I go there I get the satays chicken, crispy chicken wonton, glazed spare ribs, Jue Lan special rice, and a strawberry smash cocktail. Yes, they are all appetizers, but I feel you get to try more food doing this rather than just picking an entree. Food taste amazing! Be prepared to spend money if you are going on a date. Last but not least, it’s always better to make a reservation and for $20 dollars they take a photo and give it to you in a frame. 😍

I am definitely coming back for a few things on this menu. I loved the service. When first seated, I was cold, and when I explained this I was moved in under 5min. AMAZING. I had the shrimp dumplings, lobster spring rolls (can we say wow), and stir fry bam bam shrimp. It was alil more spicy than expected but still great. My fiancé had the grand mariner and he said it was so good. We both had the mango madness TWICE! Lol. I love this place

I went here on a date. They open at 12pm and the food is delicious. It is on the pricer side of things so if youre going here to eat with a group nake sure you just got paid! The food portions were good and we were not able to finish everything.

We booked a very last minute dinner and from the second we walked in everyone was so sweet and made sure we were comfortable. These reviews about service must be from a while ago cause the servers were all super kind and service was QUICK we ordered a ton of apps and all came within 15 min of ordering. The food was fantastic this is a great place to come with some friends and split a bunch of dishes, they even gave us an extra plate of noodles! We had an amazing experience and will be back soon!

Loved going to the old Limelight, which is now multiple restaurants, one of them being Jue Lan Club. Was at a private function, and it was perfect. Really enjoyed the food and the staff was super friendly. Definitely need to go back for dinner.

Always have an amazing time at this place. It's probably the only Chinese cuisine spot that plays hip-hop and RnB. Beautifully decor and ambience! This place is a whole vibe. I have been coming here for a while and will continue to do so. Please keep in mind that sometimes this place could be a bit of a wait on the weekends even with the reservations, which could be either due to over-booking (as has happened to me in the past) or sometimes because of celebrity drop-bys. So please make reservations, and it won't hurt to call ahead of time just to get a feel of the customer traffic.

As my first time at this place, I definitely can’t complaint. I personally had a wonderful time!! Bartender Britney made my drinks on point and Manager Eddie was extremely helpful, he walked me through the food menu and gave me a few suggestions. I must say he's very knowledgeable and so professional.

My favorite restaurant ever. Kevin is my favorite waiter and Jose is my favorite bartender. They took the fruity pebble ice cream off of the menu which was their best dessert but whatever. The food here is absolutely amazing and the atmosphere is stunning!

Food was AMAZING!!!! I wanted to visot this place for a while and I'm glad I came on a Sunday, food is soo authentic and flavorful but besides that the service was on point, our server Anthony helped me choose my dish bc honestly I wanted everything on the menu.. I strongly recommend this place you won't be disappointed. Kids friendly as you can see my daughter loves it. Did I mention that their cocktails are to die for??

I went to have dinner here for Mother’s Day, it’s really a nice restaurant. The decor is one of the first thing I loved about the place. It was raining so there wasn’t any outdoor dining. We are upstairs in one of their private room. The service was great and the food was so good. I had the shrimp tacos for starters and it melted right in my mouth. Definitely would recommend this restaurant the overall experience was wonderful.

Came during restaurant week. Heard all the buzz about this restaurant and they definitely lived up to every word. Our reservation was at 1:00pm and was greeted warmly by 2 hostesses. The service overall was amazing. The food was delicious! So delicious we forgot to take photos of our entrees! But i’ll say this, of all the chicken satays I’ve had in the city they definitely have the best one! Their peanut sauce is addictive. The vanilla cheesecake is a showstopper. I know most restaurants order their desserts but you can tell they make theirs in house or they’re brought in daily? The cheesecake was so fresh and creamy! It wasnt overly sweet either, I absolutely loved it. The drinks were pricey but they were so strong, it ended up being worth it. Would definitely come back

Phenomenal experience! I visited Jue Lan for the first time during my recent trip to New York City; we had a lunch set up in the private dining space upstairs. The dishes that came out were delicious. The service was exceptional. & The cocktails were tasty; the Lychee martini was my favourite. I will definitely be visiting again for dinner next time I am in NYC. & I would love to set up a full tasting so I can share my favourites from the menu.

Truly an amazing experience the moment you step in. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. All workers are incredibly nice and make the experience worthwhile. If i could eat one thing for the rest of my life, it would be the Chicken Satay!! I find myself craving it at least twice a week. Also crispy chicken wontons are a 1000/10. Overall it’s one of my favorite restaurants and i would never get tired of eating here!!! 10/10

Y

Really don't understand the negative reviews here. I'm Shanghainese, born and raised, and yes if you're coming here for authentic Shanghai food you will be disappointed. This is very much an upscale Asian fusion restaurant, Chinese-leaning. I came with my mom for lunch on a gorgeous fall day and the courtyard area is a dream!! And the servers couldn't be nicer or more attentive. We ordered a couple of their house specials: lobster tacos and edamame dumplings in miso truffle broth and they were both delicious, fresh, and pleasantly small dishes. No gigantic sloppy tacos here! As we were leaving, our server encouraged us to take a look around the building and upstairs. They have very well-decorated private dining rooms! Overall the aesthetics of the place are A+++ and the food was just as refined and delightful.

S
Sabrina Santiago

Formerly known as The Limelight, this spot not only brought back old memories but it brings forth great food as well. A dimmed setting indoors with a lovely contrast of well lit outdoor space. The aroma of Asian spices perfumes the upstairs and sits a large dining group rather comfortably. Highly highly recommend either the dumplings or the filet mignon. Service was prompt and great quality on all levels.

This place is huge and gets super packed. Reservations are best. The food is absolutely delish. I highly recommend the jumbo lump crab cake, salt & pepper prawns, salt & pepper lobster, beijing chicken, pow pow beef, jue lan special rice and the carrot cake. The drink Kiss by a Rose was so delicious and refreshing. The service was great. The vibe and atmosphere was really awesome. This place is great for groups or date night. I will definitely be going back. Super impressed with Jue Lan Club.

Jue Lan Club is a multi-level, 275 seat Chinese restaurant featuring our 75 seat outdoor garden courtyard & several distinctive private dining rooms. They can host multiple large parties and private events. Located 49 W 20th St, New York City. Jue Lan is super chic and I love having dinner here with my friends in their private party room. Great ambience and service, they are always on top of everything, refilled our champagne and wine on point. American Chinese Food with creative taste, all very tasty. I love their edamame dumplings, pork and veggies lettuce wrap, the satays chicken, crispy Rock shrimp tempura, and vegetable lo mein. I have been there 3 times already, but I'm planning to visit them again soon, hope to see you there.

Excellent Asian food here!! They offer many gluten free options (which is hard to find with Asian). The portions are large! I've visited this restaurant twice , once for a brunch party and once for regular dinner. The brunch party was awesome!!! Great DJ music, good food choices. I recommend stopping here. It is a great time !!!

Loved this place from the door. The cocktail specials were delicious while we waited for our entire party to arrive. We had reservations, which is highly recommended; because it did get very busy. We were seated and our waiter Ivi was very personable and attentive. We enjoyed the appetizers like rock shrimp tempura, satay chicken at the bar. We did the family style type dinner where we each ordered another appetizer, one was like an oxtail like taco in a soft bread and it was to die for, there was a nice dumpling type appetizer that was also good. We had a salmon dish, beef and veggie dish and a shrimp dish (sorry can't remember the names) but everything was good. Not one complaint! We spent about $80 at the bar for 4 for 6 drinks. Our tab with gratuity was about $210. We left happy and content with a big doggie bag that I'm looking forward to enjoying for breakfast before I start my last busy day in NYC!

Very nice, amazing vibe. Went for a birthday celebration with a party of 11. Staff was very attentive and responsive. Drinks were delicious, kid friendly environment which was a plus . Had two little ones. Food was very good. Love that it can be an intimate setting or family. Would def go back for date night. Sadly I didnt get many pics, as we were having such a great time.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ju Lan Clun in New York, and I must say it was an exceptional culinary experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the stage for what was to come. The restaurant's interior is beautifully decorated, combining modern elements with traditional Chinese touches. The attention to detail in the design created a sophisticated yet comfortable ambiance. The soft lighting and tasteful artwork added to the overall charm of the space. Now let's talk about the food. Ju Lan Clun offers a tantalizing menu featuring a blend of classic and contemporary Chinese dishes. The chefs have a remarkable talent for combining flavors and textures, resulting in dishes that are both familiar and exciting. Each bite was a delightful adventure for the taste buds. One standout dish that I highly recommend is the Peking duck. The duck was perfectly roasted, with a crispy skin that gave way to succulent and flavorful meat. It was served with delicate pancakes, scallions, and a rich hoisin sauce, allowing me to assemble my own little culinary masterpiece. It was a true highlight of the meal. Another dish that left a lasting impression was the Sichuan-style mapo tofu. The tofu was incredibly tender, and the sauce had a delightful balance of heat and numbing spice. The dish was garnished with fresh herbs and minced pork, which added depth to the flavors. It was a comforting and satisfying choice. The service at Ju Lan Clun was impeccable. The staff members were attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to ensure that every guest had an exceptional dining experience. They were more than happy to provide recommendations and answer any questions I had about the menu. In terms of pricing, Ju Lan Clun falls into the higher end of the spectrum, but the quality of the food and the overall experience justifies the cost. It is a place where you can celebrate a special occasion or indulge in a memorable dining experience. Overall, Ju Lan Clun is a gem in the heart of New York. With its elegant atmosphere, impeccable service, and outstanding cuisine, it offers a remarkable dining experience that is sure to satisfy even the most discerning food lovers. I highly recommend giving it a try if you're looking to explore the flavors of Chinese cuisine in a refined and sophisticated setting.

It's my first time coming at Jue Lan Resturant. It's a wonderful place to relax with friends, family or couples. My favorite dish was the dumplings 😋. Also the tacos and oxtail I believe. Was very delicious I give it a 10+. The staff was very friendly. Always check on you now and then. I really recommend anyone to come to this place for a night out.

Overall, great service from Jipson and the team! It wasn't that busy this afternoon, but they still checked us every time they had the opportunity! I love how they treated me and I love how they were treating the tables around us! One of my favorite restaurants for dinner for that reason. No restaurant service compares to JIPSON OR The Jue Lan Team!

Vibe was nice, the staff was amazing. The DJ played all the best hits, my group was sitting in the front by the door. It was cold but the weather has been horrible with all of the low temperatures. I didn't order food but my group seem to enjoy the food that thwy had. Was there for a birthday gathering.

Jue Lan Club Manhattan One of my absolute go to spots in the city! From the moment you walk in, Jue Lan Club gives that upscale, intimate vibe dim lighting, elegant decor, and the kind of energy that makes any night feel special. The food here is always on point flavorful, beautifully plated, and served in perfect portions. I ordered the steak and the salmon, both cooked to perfection, juicy and tender. The fried lobster bites were a standout crispy, golden, and full of flavor. The crab and oysters were incredibly fresh too. Their cocktails? Chef’s kiss. Each sip was smooth and balanced the perfect way to start or end your meal. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the service matches the vibe refined but never pretentious. Definitely a Manhattan favorite of mine. Whether it’s date night, dinner with friends, or just treating yourself Jue Lan Club never disappoints. 🥂✨

I recently visited Jue Lan Club in NYC, and the experience was nothing short of incredible. The food was absolutely amazing—I’ve never had Asian cuisine this flavorful and perfectly executed. Every dish, from the appetizers to the desserts, was exceptional. One standout was the chicken satay (if I’m recalling the name correctly). It was phenomenal and left a lasting impression. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

First time at Jue Lan Club for my friend’s 30th birthday and I had such a great time! My boyfriend and I sat at the bar as we were waiting for the party to walk in and we started with the lychee martinis. I think it’s one of their most popular drinks and I can see why! It’s slightly frozen with a lychee on top, so good! Once the party arrived, we made our way upstairs to the private room. I loved the ambiance there’s your own personal bar, tv’s and you can hook your phone up to Bluetooth. At the bar, my friend selected a few signature drinks so we had espresso martinis and a drink called purple rain all night. Both drinks were solid. The food was family style so we got to try a couple apps and entrees. The rock shrimp tempura was delicious, my favorite app! Since I don’t eat meat I didn’t get to try everything but what I did try would make me visit again. I took some vegetable fried rice with the shrimp, the perfect combo. At the end, we had some birthday cake and danced the night away. Would definitely recommend this spot for a private dinner party, to dine in or sit at the bar!

5 stars because the food was delicious. Drinks were tasty but not strong. Service was great and we had a large group so was pretty impressed by that that as well. The restaurant is dark and trendy. Vibey with a great music selection if you prefer hip hop & r&b. We sat inside, but they have a really cute Casamigos decorated patio.

Came to nyc to do some shopping and celebrate a birthday, stopped here for lunch. The Beijing chicken and lobster spring rolls were good but the lyche martini was perfect ! I seen pictures of the other rooms in the restaurant and wish they would’ve asked us where we would like to sit or sat us in a better area. Felt like they kind of shoved us to the back of the restaurant but other than that service and food was good. Would definitely stop here again when in the city.

M

We went here for lunch during restaurant week. They had that special menu plus their own pre-fix menu (both worth it) I had the watermelon margarita and it was sooooo good.

P

The atmosphere was beautiful and the server and waterborne were great. Dishes comimg out were a little slow, however the front dinning room was pretty full for such late hours luckily. We tried a special for two that came with appetizer, a main dish and dessert lava cake. Being NYC it was pricey in comparison to the amazing chinese food I find more locally

Jue Lan is a perfect spot for great hand-crafted signature drinks. Enjoyed a few of them along with some appetizers. St. Elixir (I think I may have missed a portion of this drink’s name); but it was made with gin (the purple stuff), cucumber puree & other yummy fresh juices — refreshing & light tasting! Kiss by a Rose (prosecco & stoli raspberry) is sweet & delicious with a PUNCH! Watermelon Mojito — all I can say is A-MAZ-ING. The fresh gauc & taro chips is a different take on this classic dish. The taro chips were light & crispy! The perfect foil for this delicious slightly spicy guac. I will say the menu is not very GF nor vegan friendly. This is why I gave 4 stars. Provided you don’t have any dietary restrictions, Jue Lan is an awesome choice!

E

The food was very good. Sharable plates. The service was even better. They were very accommodating. The music was hip hop/pop mix. We ordered wonton soup, beef and chicken lo mein, steamed korean beef dumplings, shrimp tempura, and a beer. I think it was a bit expensive for the type of food we were being served but we are from Chicago. Not sure if this is typical for New York. I am sure it would be nice in the summer too. We sat outside and the decorations were very nice! What made this place was good tasting food and customer service.

A small step above your local Chinese restaurant: We were seated right at the time of our reservation-no additional wait. Service was great. Overall food was pretty good-crab tacos, chicken won ton , filet mignon with broccoli, and Beijing chicken were good. I was not impressed with the lo mein… at all. The food was overpriced. Ambiance and decor was beautiful, but not sure that I’d return as the food quality and taste isn’t worth the price.

I heard about their restaurant week deal and decided to try it out. The restaurant looks very nice, they have a garden, indoor seating and sidewalk seating. My favorite was the dessert, and we got full after the appetizer, had to take most of it home. We didn’t really enjoy the lo mein though. Great customer service, might go back.

It is located at the Limelight, and the entrance is on the 20th street, easy to spot with nicely lit arch shining warmly in the dull, cold Winter evening. It was quite picturesque. At first, I was not 100% sure if this was it, but they had a sign right next to the lit arch to ensure we are at the right entrance. Inside the arch was a large outdoor space, equipped with an outdoor bar. It was not in use, since it is the Winter time and the ground was covered in light snow. They had stacks of chairs and tables on the corner, I can only imagine how awesome this space would be during the warm months… The main dining room was a nice size, and I loved the decor. It had some Chinese elements to it, mixed with some speakeasy era feel from many moons ago. It had table seating in the middle. The table seating was sandwiched by booth seating on both side. They have more dining space on the second floor, so I went to check them out. The upstairs is not a one, large dining room, but separated into several smaller rooms. I felt like each room had a bit of different theme, mood and atmosphere. We had several drinks, and they were all very good, strong, and tasty. For food, we had Braised Oxtail Sloppy Bao Buns, Wok Charred Filet Mignon Tips with Broccoli, Kung Pao Chicken, and Infamous Chocolate Mousse for dessert. It was all very good, surprisingly good. We were very happy with our choices on drinks and food. Overall, we had a good time. The service was great, as we were the only customers in the main dining room (it was a very cold, crappy Winter day outside). The servers seemed a bit bored with not much to do… but they took a good care of us, our water was always filled, we didn’t have to ask for anything as they were always around, checking on us or our table. The food had good portion, except for the dessert, and we really liked the flavor of them all. The choice of music was interesting. They started off with some nightclub-type music, mostly Kanye and Jay Z, really super loud which I did NOT enjoy. Then, about midway through, they all of a sudden changed to 80’s music, which was much better than listening to Kanye (sorry if you are a fan of Kanye). It is not your normal Chinese restaurant. It is upscale and modern, maybe not super authentic when it comes to the dishes, but we certainly enjoyed it. Read my full review of this restaurant and food on my food blog, foodlovergirl.

Came here for NYC restaurant week and tried the dinner menu! Appetizer: Vegetable spring rolls (amazing! Super crispy and crunchy). Entree: Beijing Chicken with Jasmin rice (great flavor for the chicken! The rice did taste slightly like the bottom of the pot type of rice and it was also dry). I got a side dish of broccoli. The broccoli was good, and had some type of garlic sauce on it. However, I do believe it was too much sauce that the broccoli was drenched and became soggy after a while. Amazing flavor though! Beverage: watermelon mojito mock-tail (refreshing!!!!!! Great taste). Dessert: Chocolate lava cake (DRY DRY DRY)! In regards to food, despite minor flaws, it was great and served fresh and hot! That was consistent! The service was poor. Most people looked disappointed in how low quality the service was. Waiters were all over the place and barely came out to serve or replace water. Had to chase down a waiter, whenever possible in order to get your food and or the check. I honestly think that the ratings would be higher if the service was a bit better. Given the circumstances it was a Friday night, so probably a bit busy, however, I noticed that waitresses and servers tend to big parties rather than couples. I would maybe recommend order to go.

For winter restaurant week 2022, our first place to try was the Jue Lan Club which specializes in modern Chinese fare. The place is really busy and making a reservation is highly recommended. We were also told that we can only stay for 90 minutes due to the turnaround. For a $39 deal, it came with an appetizer, main entree, and dessert for each guest. We first selected a bottle of rosé to start the dinner since it’s family-style dining we shared the following: 1. Crispy rock shrimp tempura 2. Crispy chicken wanton 3. Stir fry shrimp lo mein 4. Beijing chicken 5. Lava cake 6. Crème brûlée All the dishes are delicious and came in a timely fashion, and the serving was so generous and we ended up having a leftover bag. We never felt rushed even if we exceeded 90 minutes time frame. We were completely satisfied with our experience at Jue Lan Club. A must-try!

Came here with a large group of my girlfriends, they were very accomodating and the service was great! I don't know the name of everything we ordered but everything was pretty good. I was hoping to eat more authentic Chinese food but it was more Americanized Chinese food. Overall, it was pretty good and I would go back again. Th atmosphere was really nice and relaxing and cozy and perfect for a dinner date as well! I'm just really glad they were able to accomodate 15 of us girls too!

Service was great. The bao was amazing! I can give 9/10 Veg fried rice and the rock shrimp tempura taste wise was abit blend for my taste. (Asian taste), But edible.6/10 Might be good for people who doesn't really like too much flavour or punch in the dish.

Jue Lan is a vibe. I visited while in New York last week. We ordered the Short Rib Bao Buns for starters and let me tell you..... FIRE! The entrees were good. The filet was tender. I would definitely recommend sharing seeing as the portions were very big. I would recommend this restaurant and would return.

Came on Thursday night for restaurant week. They had a really great selection for appetizers. Entrees and dessert. Our server was absolutely wonderful. I do not remember his name, but he was very kind. And sweet and funny, the food was really good. We each had one of the appetizers, which was edamame dumplings, spring rolls, chicken satay (which was okay), the crispy wontons and the rock tempura shrimp and those was really good. For entree, we had the shrimp lo mein, salmon and the steak bites. Everything was really great, seasoned to perfection and dessert was also good.

Went for happy hour on Wednesday at 5:30! Was able to get a table for 2. Pretty decent offerings. I got the $12 truffle shrimp dumplings and the $10 lemon drop. Food and drink were delicious!

I’m a true New Yorker and have passed this place for years, but never stopped in until now. The experience was okay—Mike and Jose definitely made it more memorable. The food was actually pretty good. Try the frozey.

This place is a whole vibe. Super trendy and chic; dope ambiance, fire music, and dim lighting. The food was amazing as well. Fresh/ high quality ingredients and I was even more impressed that we had a super large party but all of the food came out at the same time and was hot and fresh. The deviled eggs were delectable, the filling was so light and velvety. I also had the shrimp lo mein which I loved how they weren't stingy with the shrimp and they were very nice sized as well. The pork fried rice had nice sizes of shredded pork, almost felt like ribs, in it. The filet mignon was very tender and the chicken wings were fried perfectly, extremely crisp and seasoned. The service was also on point and friendly all across the board. I'd def recommend this spot and can't wait to return.

We were seated right at the time of our reservation-no additional wait. Service was great. The food was overpriced. Ambiance and decor was beautiful, but not sure that I’d return as the food quality and taste isn’t worth the price. The waiter was very patient. You come here to party with friends, and socialize. If you want great food, go someplace else.

Elegant and chic, Jue Lan Club is a must-visit dining destination located in the heart of New York City. From the stunning decor to the delicious food and drinks, everything about this restaurant exudes sophistication and luxury. The restaurant's interior is simply breathtaking, with high ceilings, dim lighting, and plush furnishings creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The bar area is particularly impressive, with a beautiful marble countertop and a vast selection of premium liquors and cocktails. But what really sets Jue Lan Club apart is the food. The menu features a wide range of Chinese-inspired dishes, each one beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Standout dishes include the crispy Peking duck, the succulent short ribs, and the mouth-watering shrimp dumplings. The sushi is also not to be missed, with fresh, melt-in-your-mouth fish and creative flavor combinations that will leave you wanting more. In addition to the delicious food, Jue Lan Club also offers a fantastic selection of drinks, including specialty cocktails and a well-curated wine list. The bartenders are knowledgeable and skilled, and they are always happy to make recommendations based on your preferences. But perhaps the best thing about Jue Lan Club is the impeccable service. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that your dining experience is unforgettable. From the moment you walk in the door to the moment you leave, you'll feel pampered and well taken care of. Overall, Jue Lan Club is a must-visit for anyone who loves great food, great drinks, and great service. With its elegant decor, mouth-watering menu, and top-notch service, it's the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion or simply indulge in some of the best Chinese-inspired cuisine that New York City has to offer.

This place is definitely a vibe! I’ve been here on a Sunday evening and they have hip hop music playing and a good energy all round. The meals and service are top notch. It is definitely on the pricier side for Chinese food, but you pay for the experience and the quality and quantity. I do believe you get much larger portions here than other restaurants, which makes it worth the price. My favorites are the crispy rock shrimp tempura and the pan fried pork and chive dumplings! You really can’t go wrong with anything on this menu. It is all so good! I highly recommend visiting this place for good vibes and good food!

I celebrated my birthday here and overall I had an amazing time since I have an amazing friend group and they really made my night special. The food was TOP TIER!! The vibes EMACULATE! However the service was not it. Upon arrival I was asked to pay the whole bill for 10 people before they would serve us any food or even drinks which is the first time that has happened to me. My whole party hadn’t arrived yet and we couldn’t get the whole bill situated yet. From that moment on I feel like I was rushed through the whole dinner. Every 30minutes I would get asked to pay the final bill before the next course and so on. Aside from being rushed through the courses and being rushed to pay the whole bill before the end of the dinner I had a good time and would recommend this place.

I appreciated the portion size of the rock shrimp but it had barely any sauce and the sauce that was on the shrimp was so unflavorful. The rock shrimp were also entirely soggy. The chicken wontons are nothing special. The bok choy has no salt. For the price, this restaurant is not worth it.

Came here on a Saturday night . I have to say they have a great Dj. The ambiance gave very social and Asian inspired. The service was a bit slow , about 15 min wait for drinks . Maybe due to the many birthday celebrations. In regards to food , I ordered the Lo Mein with shrimp was very flavorful and the baby bok choy was also very delicious. I didn’t care for the fried rice nor the dragon slayer drink. Will visit again but maybe during lunch on a weekday.

This restaurant was beautiful, the staff was attentive and the drinks were good. However, the food was OK - I don't think I liked it enough to want to come back. It was quite bland for my taste. If you prefer something on the less spicy side, this could be a perfect date night restaurant for you. The portions are huge and definitely can be shared amongst people.

WARNING: Came here for Saturday lunch expecting the restaurant week menu, but found out they only offer that on weekdays. Wish this were more obvious on their website. I overhead every other table also asking for the restaurant week menu and getting the same answer from staff. So instead we ordered two appetizers here ($20 each!). The prices are pretty steep. The food was good though. Meh.

Very large portion. Very slow service when we were the only table there and wait staff is not familiar with the menu but are nice. Some of the food is tasty and interior is cool and comfy with option for outdoor sitting. Convenient location. Good choice for a nice quiet lunch in the neighbourhood if you are not picky about food or service.

So yesterday is my 35th birthday and I wanted to come here and celebrate now there was another person there at the bar who was celebrating their birthday. I just felt that the service could’ve gave me a little more attention as well. The restaurant was practically empty but majority of them were Servicing the other woman at the bar more than me and my partner, but the food was OK atmosphere was beautiful. That’s all I really have to say about it.

This was the first stop for NYC restaurant week “24”. (Jan 2024) Reservations were made for three on Open Table, and when we arrived we were seated right away. As per previous reviews JLC is dimly lit, going for the trendy chic vibe. The restaurant week offer was 3 courses for $45. We went with three different appetizers and shared. Crispy Rock Shrimp Tempura, Vegetable Spring Rolls and Crispy Chicken Wontons. The top two were the chicken wontons and rock shrimp. For an entrée I chose the slow cooked glazed salmon and so did a friend. I was not impressed and truthful neither was my friend. The salmon was slightly overcooked rendering it a tad dry and I was not pleased with the glaze. Another dining companion order the Pow Pow Beef and was in-love, too bad I don't eat beef. For desserts we tried the Chocolate Lava Cake and Everyday's Your Birthday Cake, the ladder was also dry. The cocktails we tried were the Dusse Sidecar & Lychee Martini both were very tasty @ $20 a glass. Overall give them a try if you haven't already, the apps were a hit. Keep in mind it is Asian cuisine on the higher end in retrospect to what one may expect. Just A Note: Restaurant Week is a great way to "taste test" if you're not sure.

The food and ambiance was nice just our server kiara was very pushy for us to order when we needed some time, seemed like they wanted us out. When it was time for dessert they did not clean the table and brought the plate with our leftover food still there didn’t bother cleaning it up until we asked. Our second server Victor was very pleasant to our table.

The food was barely ok but it’s way overpriced for the taste. The restaurant is a little too dim I could barely see the food and the music is so loud you have to yell to the waiter and your date. Cute spot just wish the food and service was better .

If there was a ZERO THIS IS WHAT THEY WOULD OF GOT. Exceptionally baffled with my experience today 8/19/2021. this was my 2nd time visiting this eatery. My chicken Satay appetizer was good. I didn’t get to eat my entrée. I came here to enjoy restaurant week as my birthday celebration. this was my first time sitting outside. While about to eat my entrée a mouse choose to come out and simply stay there close to our table. I was so terrified I didn't record on my phone, yet I know they video cameras got me running. I abandoned everything and ran to the host station that was very close by. He was very nonchalant about the situation Like this happens each day. It took 4 workers with a broom to get the mouse. At this point I was done and wanted to leave. I know we live in New York City; however, this is a public health and sanitation issue I'm not going to be outside dining. If vermin's going to be running around in the daytime . What a way to celebrate my birthday. A waste of $139 I was so grossed out that I never ate my food . All they did was apologize. Don't think I’m going to return here.

I wanted to try them for restaurant week with my son, so we decided to visit on a Thursday for lunch. Hours said they open at noon and I had something to do by 2:30 so we arrived at around 12:15pm. We was served water when seated and waited 45 mins before our order was taken and this was only after I went to the bar to ask the lady who seated us when our order was gonna be taken. So at 1pm they took our order where we ordered everything including drinks. Appetizers took another 20mins to come out where the wontons was overcooked and hard. My dusse pina colada was very light almost virgin. By 1:50 we still had not received any entrees where I decided we had to leave because we woulda either had to eat very fast or take our food to go ruining the experience. Keep in mind this was when the restaurants just opened and there were about 2 other tables receiving same slow or non existence service. As we was leaving instead of apologizing she said “well at least pay for the drinks” to which I absolutely will not for my wasted time I can’t get back!

Way Overrated and so expensive....it was like watered down Chinese food lacked flavor all around even our cocktails sucked. Wait staff were very friendly best part of this place. It also smelled like pure weed and the wait staff said there was a "cigar" shop colocated and that was reason for smell...okay....for close to $400.00 for 4 I say how down the block to the local Chinese corner restaurant and eat for $40.00 and have ten times more flavor..save your money.

If you’re looking for authentic Chinese food do NOT come here. My boyfriend and I really love Peking duck. We reviewed the menu prior to coming to the restaurant to assure that duck was on menu, however when we sat down we were surprisingly disappointed that it was no longer on the menu, but we still wanted to give the place a try. Boy did we regret that. We started with the Peking duck spring rolls which weren’t terrible and the fried chicken dumplings. The dumplings tasted as if they were from the frozen section of the nearest grocery store. They were ridiculously fried and soiled in a foul tasting sauce. For entree we got kung pao chicken, vegetable fried rice and Brussels sprouts. The chicken was saturated in sweet and sour sauce and excessively breaded, it was honestly hard to eat. The vegetable fried rice had zero taste and tasted as if it was a couple days old and reheated. The Brussel sprouts were edible but simply not good. The food was quite preposterous, especially for the price. The restaurant is pretty and the staff is nice but the food is hardly edible. This place is overhyped, expensive and genuinely foul tasting. This restaurant needs to be exposed, don’t fall into the trap.

Horrible experience! I had a 10:15pm reservation and did not leave until 1am because the service was extremely horrible. It took 47 minutes just to order drinks at our table. The table arrangement at this place is literally elbow to elbow and you’re basically in the next persons conversation. They definitely did not prepare for the Valentine’s Day rush. The drinks and sesame chicken dumplings were good. I am definitely not eating at this Resturant again.

Terrible customer service. My waiter was the rudest person I’ve interacted with in a while. I ordered an appetizer that came and I did not like. I asked him politely to return it so I could replace with something else. He flat out told me “no” and then when I questioned him he stated “I can return it and you can order something new but I’m still going to charge you for it”. I’ve eaten at many fine dining establishments in New York City and all over the country and I’ve never been told that by a waiter. Needless to say. I refused to order anything else past that appetizer and my evening was ruined by the poor customer experience I was having. Our waiter would reach over the plating of the food the person I was with order with no gloves on and at one point his hand brushed against the food. I was so irritated that I just wanted to leave. What’s additionally annoying was they automatically added his gratuity to our tab. One he was very undeserving of. I will never return or recommend this place. Not worth the hype.

Went during restaurant week on time for our 8:45pm reservation on Jan 20 2023. Upon arrival I see that the line outside was as long as if they were giving food away. At least 75 individuals were outside in the cold waiting to check in. As people went to ask the “bouncer” and host what was going on, they rudely snapped back and said we’re working on it and laughed as they told them to head to the end of the line with no explanation. We didn’t get any information and noone came out to explain the situation for the duration of the time we were outside. We didn’t get inside until 9:45, a whole hour after our confirmed reservation and then we were scolded for not checking in when we arrived, as if the failed finance bro turned bouncer would have let us near the door. After the scolding, we were told to wait another 30 minutes. We decided to leave since not a single person acknowledged that they messed up big time and we were going to be an hour and a half deep into the wait. For a place that tries to pawn off a sloppier version of corner store Chinese food for a trashy crowd, I don’t see the hype. I really wanted to give it a chance and like it but even the basic service sucks but the decor inside was nice.

My experience was horrible. I figured I would try this place out since its in my neighborhood. When I received the food it was so terrible and to top it extremely overpriced for having to throw 80% of it away. The only thing I ate was the tacos, the seafood rice was so bland had no taste, the scallion pancakes was so overly fried I could not even bit into it, the lo mein was overcooked and lastly the pork fried wontons were over fried there was no meat in them as it was fried away. I immediately called the restaurant left my number and no one got back to me. I usually would let this go but this place is SO OVERPRICED I felt it was just disgusting not to make sure your customers are happy and to resolve this situation. I had to order from another place after. My advice is the food is terrible stay away unless you wanted to get rapped of your money! Please take a look at the photos, I even took a photo when I tossed it in the trash. What a waste of food and money!

Ive been dying to come here for a few months now, the last time I made reservations they cancelled due to a gas leak. yesterday (2/27) I went for my birthday 1 hour before closing.. our server came up to us and got our drink orders and our apps order, eventually our appetizers came out one by one, my boyfriends came out first and about 5 min later mine came out( red flag) .. I got sesame chicken lollipops and he got chicken satay, the chicken tasted like it was drenched in sesame oil but I didn’t think anything of it because it was sesame chicken lollipops ..Finally we put our food orders in, I got filet with broccoli white rice and a side of chicken lo mein .. my food eventually comes out and the steak was super dry and tasteless ( got it cooked medium well) the lo mein tasted like it was drenched in sesame oil, it was disgusting.. I didn’t even touch the food.. so now we are waiting for my boyfriends food.. 5 min go by, 10 min go by 20 min.. his food never came, the server never came to check on our order after it came out, he never came to bring us another drink, he just never came back.. every time we tried to get his attention he looked away.. eventually a buss boy comes over and started cleaning and wrapping up my food, we tell him we never got the food, he finds the server and lets him know.. the server comes over and says “ are yall missing anything “ DUH! A whole meal I also told him he never came back to get us new drinks or anything.. he doesn’t even apologize he just gets the check and says he comped the drink for the Inconvenience, I call the manager over who tells me he can comp my steak but thts about it .. terrible terrible experience

This was the worst dining experience I have ever had in my entire life. My friends and I were subject to horrible service and treatment. First off, we were seated in the outdoor space, and the security guard was being belligerent and yelling random gibberish at no one in particular right in front of our table. In addition to this already bad start, a runner brought out the wrong dish to our table and claimed it was what we ordered. We had a friend at our table who cannot eat meat and ordered this vegetarian dish for herself. However, it was the wrong order, and the restaurant fed her beef. She became very sick and was unable to enjoy the rest of the night. Our waiter then came to the table and claimed it was just an additional dish “on the house” because they served the wrong order, barely apologizing for the massive mistake. To top it all off, the waiter barely came by, automatically added a huge tip onto our bill for a small group of people, and took our unfinished food while we were still eating. This establishment deserves 0 stars and we should’ve turned back after walking up and seeing all of the empty tables. Way overpriced and overrated, and there was no apology or compensation for their deadly mistake.

I wanted to address this privately before posting a review, so I emailed the owner/manager first. Unfortunately, no one ever replied — and that lack of care reflects exactly the same attitude we experienced while dining in. One dish in particular was unacceptable: the fried rice was extremely overcooked, to the point that it was not eaten. We informed the waiter right away, expecting a simple apology or a solution. Instead, the response felt dismissive and indifferent. What made it worse is that the fried rice was still fully included on the bill, despite the fact that it wasn’t touched and the issue was communicated immediately. Mistakes happen, but how a restaurant handles them matters. In this case, both during the meal and after, there was no effort to fix the situation.

Yesterday, I went out to celebrate my best friend’s dinner and was extremely disappointed with the service. I clearly informed the waitress that I wanted my food cooked well done. When my meal arrived, it was visibly undercooked. I politely asked the staff if my order could be corrected since it was not prepared as requested. Instead of addressing the issue professionally, the waitress abruptly snatched my plate and stated that the restaurant does not accommodate situations like this. Her response was rude, dismissive, and completely inappropriate. This interaction made the rest of the evening uncomfortable and overshadowed what was meant to be a celebratory occasion. Customer service is just as important as food quality, and unfortunately, this experience fell far below acceptable standards. I am very disappointed with how the situation was handled and would not recommend this restaurant based on the lack of professionalism and respect shown by the staff.

I've been to this restaurant a bunch of times and have always had an amazing time. Unfortunately this time I went for my birthday dinner I was left disappointed. It started when I called a few days in advance asking to reserve one of the booths for my party and I . The server was rude and said they are unable to reserve booths. (Which is untrue because we've reserved booths in previous years) Upon arrival, the same rude host was at the host stand and was not warm or welcoming in her greeting. Maybe she was having a bad week. I had flowers and small macaroons for my guests that I wanted to set them on the table before everyone arrived. I asked the host if I can place them on the table and she rudely said no, because the table was full with menus. (After we were seated I saw the menus were stacked on top of each other and the flowers could have been placed easily on top of the menus. There was also plenty of room for the small party favors) After dinner I went to the bar and wanted to order my guests and I a shot before we headed out. I leaned over the bar on the side where the bartender places his drinks and he moved my arms over because I seemed to be in his way. He shouldn't have touched me in the first place and could have said excuse me. I ended up leaving not ordering anything and it was an overall negative experience. I'm not Sure if they're under new management but this new staff is not hospitable, lack manners, poorly trained and rude.

Title: JUE LAN RUINED MY DAUGHTER’S BIRTHDAY — DO NOT GO We started with the original Mr. Chow over 20 years ago and have been visiting the spin-offs for the past 10 — Phillipe Chow, Red Sticks, Sei Less (I know my history, and I know theirs). We’ve been to Jue Lan a few times-my daughter gets take from there about 3 times a month, and we’ve had good experiences — until my daughter’s birthday, which they completely destroyed. Our party of 15 came to celebrate her special day, and it was an absolute nightmare. We paid premium prices for what is marketed as a high-end dining experience, and what we got was cold, sloppy, disrespectful, and utterly humiliating service. My daughter’s birthday was ruined. The restaurant was nearly empty, yet they seated us like we were a burden. Our server was checked out, lazy, and completely uninterested, clearly just waiting to go home. They are used to 20-somethings taking photos for Instagram — we are professional adults, CEOs and VPs at top companies — and they treated us like we didn’t matter. They played with us. I can see exactly how they mistreat the social media youth who don’t know about quality, value, or upscale treatment. The food was a joke: Chilean Seabass with a thick, slimy sauce and pineapples thrown in — two orders untouched. Lobster tacos tasting weird and unpalatable. Most dishes served lukewarm or worse. Chicken satay sauce cold, because apparently “warm” is too much to ask. We specifically asked for plain ice cream for my daughter — it came with three toppings they didn’t care we didn’t want. After the meal, our table was left piled with dirty dishes. We sang happy birthday — no one offered to cut the cake. When we asked for the table cleared, it was ignored. After I paid in full, I spoke to the manager. And this man… looked at me like “so what, I got paid”. Not a word of apology. Not a shred of professionalism. Just a smug, disgusting stare that screamed, “Your satisfaction means nothing.” As someone in the hospitality industry, I know late-night staff can be tired — but this is not just tired, this is incompetence, arrogance, and total disrespect. My daughter’s birthday was destroyed. We spent top dollar. The only way to salvage the night was going to McDonald’s afterward.(what's crazy is they didnt see how much food was uneaten) Jue Lan doesn’t care about birthdays, families, or paying customers. They care about looking trendy on Instagram while serving a toxic experience. Do yourself a favor: go to Mr. Chow or Sei Less. Do not, under any circumstances, waste your money, your time, or your special occasion at Jue Lan. EVER. Wannabe social media grab!! plenty of other picture worthy, trendy spots

I truly wanted to like them because the location is very pretty, the happy hour is fun and the people who work there are nice but there was a bug in my food which I unfortunately didn’t notice until after I ate the edamame dumplings and I was unable to eat anything after that because it just ruined my appetite, the worst part? It was my birthday dinner so that was ruined. Up until that point, we had some really good drinks at the bar while we waited for our party to get to the table. It’s just a bummer that a place this “cool” would miss something like that. It wasn’t even a little big either. Pic attached. If you choose to dine here, make sure you look at your food before you start eating and proceed with caution.

This was my favorite resturant at one point I’ve been here over 10 times and throughout the years and I would t be surprised if they’re going out of business soon! From the food to ambiance. Nothing special anymore. Even portions have been cut in half. They went from having lines out the door to pretty much empty for a reason. And they’ll always seat you in their basic rooms to make it look as if they’re full but they’re not . I’ll still go because I work near by and the food is decent but I wouldn’t bother dressing up anymore. A basic outfit on a regular day would do (not a birthday spot anymore) just over priced ghetto but decent Asian food if I’m being honest I wouldn’t go out of my way to go here! Very disappointing to be honest.

My boyfriend and I “celebrated”my birthday here last night. The service was monstrously horrible. To say it was slow would be being generous. I think the waiters there hate their jobs; some are pleasant and others aren’t. Some items on the menu aren’t even there and what they offer instead is very poorly executed. I ordered the filet mignon but instead got the “cubed” filet mignon with broccoli. It was ok, I feel like they cooked each item separately and added them all together on the plate because everything had a different temperature when I tasted it. The jerk tacos was very COLD; like it came out of the fridge. Lastly, no one even acknowledged that a Birthday was being celebrated at the table; we waiting over 30 mins for the chocolate lava cake and not even a “happy birthday” was written on the cake. This will be our last time at Jue lan club, it’s not what it used to be. There’s better restaurants like sei Les and Philippe Chow.
