Opinions de La Colombe Coffee Roasters New York
Great coffee spot but hard to find seats during peak hours!
Best coffee I’ve had in NYC so far. Not your usual American trash coffee, proper espresso with properly textured milk in their flat whites. No real food options, so just come for the coffee (I don’t consider a croissant real food 😅).
I’ve had coffee all around the world, this place is special. Attentive staff with incredible coffee. Their unique offering of oat draft latte on tap is to die for.
Amazing Espresso! Very friendly service
The light iced americano with regular milk is strong and awesome. It’s the right kind of strong where it wasn’t overwhelming and it gives me the strong kick that my sleepy head and body needs in the morning! The prices are just right. I went with someone who got the light iced draft latte and I was told that it’s great. I would definitely go back here for that and the light iced americano with regular milk! The staff is super nice and helpful and made terrific recommendations.
As always, La Colombe delivers a great coffee drink. Both times I visited this location were early weekend mornings, so it wasn't very busy. But it looked like a nice place to relax.
I used to go to this coffee shop almost every day before the pandemic, and I just went back for the first time in two years. The cold brew and pastries are delicious, and the service is still super fast. Looking forward to being back more often!
Coffee is the best commercial coffee brand out there. This beats the "big" name competitors in the coffee industry. Overall, the quality and taste are hands down on a better level than the chains. Love their product and their quality.
staff here can feel a bit curt sometimes, but it’s probs bc they’re trying to sling out caffeine as fast as possible. great coffee, but surprisingly their baked goods are just as delicious (both sweet and savory!) - ham & cheese croissant or the cookie is a winner
If you like a thick consistency to your americano, this place is for you. They use 4 shots and it’s delicious. Staff is unbelievably friendly, fast, and efficient. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for coffee in the neighborhood, stick with this place.
Loved cappuccino they make at this shop, thick and strong. The atmosphere is very friendly. The service is fast. Maybe if some more tables are added, that would attract more customers to come over and spend more time.
After trying out different coffee shops, this one made me want to come again. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The coffee was delicious and tasted better than other coffee shops in the area. This is a must if you're a coffee lover.
If I had to get a coffee somewhere before the world ends, it would be La Colombe. Exceptional service and cool people
Best latte in midtown. The super knowledgeable staff know their coffee well and are happy to make recommendations, but can come off as judgy if you only start to decide what you want when you get to the counter and there is a line. Try the draft latte and the summer shandy for something different and cool.
I’ve been coming here every morning before work for a month. The quality of the coffee beats anything else in the area. It gets very busy some mornings, but the workers are efficient and take orders / begin preparing drinks while people are waiting in line. My only critique is that the front doors are very heavy and difficult to open. I have seen people of all shapes and sizes struggle, so I know it’s not just me!
We bought both the draft latte and the warm latte. The draft latte is velvety smooth and retains flavors and sweetness from both the milk and the beans. It is refreshing and would be perfect for summers. Separately, the warm latte has a flawless level 1 microfoam (no visible bubbles) layered with beautiful latte art. The cafe itself is peaceful and has a WC.
Stylish spaces and impeccable coffee. Their signature “Draft Latte” — a carbonated latte in a can — has become iconic. The café is always noisy and crowded, which speaks to its quality.
I visited this location in early June and mid July 2025. I’ve visited been visiting La Colombe locations for many years in Philly, Texas, but this is the first time I’ve had a draft latte with vanilla, it was really worth it! I make sure to come here every time I’m in NYC around Bryant Park.
First time in NY gotta try their coffee ☕️ I personally really like the latte that has more milk than coffee so this one is just perfect 🤩 they only have one size but I think it’s a good size. Not so expensive which I was surprised. And they were really quick. If you like the coffee has more milk then you should give it a shot!
First time in New York and I stumbled upon La Colombe Coffee. I ordered a large drip coffee in the morning which was good so came back later the day to try draft latte. I typically have almond milk with coffee (but wanted to try something new) and I was pleasantly surprised by its really smooth and velvety taste. (I was worried it would be too sweet as my coffees tend to be unsweetened.) What would draw me back is not only for their coffee but amiable and helpful staff. Like me, you might find yourself a bit lost as a first-timer to try and explore new drink. I appreciate their help on selection.
Limited seating capacity. I was lucky to find a seat right when my coffee was ready. Noise level: moderate. I could focus on reading, and saw some other people working on their laptops. Staff: friendly & helpful. I asked questions about what could be served hot/cold and if my coffee could be served in a mug instead after they gave me the drink in a to-go cup (they’d wrongly assumed, so they quickly reserved the coffee in ☕️) Cleanness: I saw other reviews saying this place wasn’t kept clean, but at least the day/time I went, I did not see any problem. There’s a bathroom if you’re looking for one. I didn’t go but there’s always a line.
Clean environment with quick efficient service. We stopped in Friday morning and it was busy but the line moved quickly. Coffee was as expected - nothing amazing or unique.
The space is giant by NYC standards. There is a large bar, counters to stand at as well as tables. This is a new location, so they have the popular draft latte on tap here. Cans are also available for purchase. There's a decent pastry and grab-and-go food selection. There are bathrooms available to patrons. Great place to get a good cup of coffee and rest before you head to your next destination.
La Colombe Coffee Roasters serve a really good cup of coffee and has a good varitety of other options if you like your coffee served other than black, as I do. It's not my first time here. But, I have only visited this particular location among the several in the city. They also have a few options in cities like D.C. and Chicago. They roast their own beans for a controlled roast and culmination in a tasty cup of joe. I chose a pour over, as I usually will if it is available. It was a tasty dark roast. On a cold day like today, just what I needed. However, coffee on any type of day works for me. This location is at the corner of Bryant park, just blocks from Times Square, and close to Hell's kitchen.
Cappuccino was yum! Cute little heart design. Lots of continental breakfast or desert options. The line is typically 3 minutes around lunchtime. The baristas are very meticulous about their coffee, especially when you order a cappuccino. Right next to Bryant park. This is the cafe to get a proper cup! Seats are few and never available.
I come here very occasionally due to other great coffee options in the area, but it’s still a solid spot when you’re in Midtown. La Colombe is the brand you’ll recognize from canned cold brews and coffee beans at the supermarket—but the café itself is a bit more upscale than its grocery-store image might suggest. Sleek, minimalist interior, fast service, and a somewhat elevated experience compared to your average coffee chain. The line is usually long, especially during weekday mornings, but moves quickly. Staff are professional, and every drink—even to-go—comes with a saucer and spoon, which adds a nice touch. A small iced latte is about $7, which feels steep, especially given the limited pastry selection (basic muffins and croissants from The Good Batch). Overall, it’s a clean, efficient caffeine stop right across from Bryant Park. It doesn’t quite draw me in like some of my favorite coffee shops do, but it’s a dependable choice in the area.
Stopped by after having lunch nearby and grabbed a large cold brew which was about $7. The cold brew was just okay and not as strong as I expected it to be. The staff wasn’t too friendly and felt rushed when ordering even though no one was in line other than me and my colleagues. The cafe itself is spacious and has a few tables in the back where you can sit and one at the front without seats. Probably best to stick with their lattes.
The drip coffee with a splash of milk was good. The taste was bold which I liked. And the iced latte was great! Their pastries are from Le Petit Paris. Tried their ham and cheese croissant. There were huge pieces of ham in the center and the croissant was very large but unfortunately the pastry didn't taste fresh. Got there around 8am on a weekday.
The coffee is fantastic. Fresh, flavorful and smooth.💙 Service is quick and friendly. This has to be one of the best coffee offerings around anywhere. La Colombe is keeping up with the quality and the production of the coffee. It is wonderfull to see a company not weaken its offering and products in order to make more profits. Congratulations to this store and to the corporation. I would give this store 5 stars if they could make sure to improve the cleanliness of the store. This store is in one of the busiest corners in the world which mitigates a bit the issue, but I would ask the corporate office to send the local team more support to clean the store mid-day as it gets a tremendous flow of people. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ coffee though!!
Tiny place. Very busy at times. My visit about three weeks ago was a disappointment. I ordered a single espresso and a pumkin muffin. The latter was very good and also EXPENSIVE (at $5 + tax). The espresso was so short (about 3/8" high on a ceramic demitasse cup), that it prompted me to to ask the barista if it was the right size, to which he said, with a very straight face, that it was. I guess he was too busy to look and/or to offer to replace it. On top of it, the espresso ended up being almost ice cold. :-(((
My sister and I love La Colombe for their coffee beans, and frequent their Los Angeles branches. I thought of dropping by this one in the city, and ordered two shots of espresso over light ice, but it tasted burnt. Pretty disappointed with this :( thankful it’s not my only stop while cafe hopping.
Decent espresso, nothing spectacular. The butter croissant was very subpar. It tasted like it’s been sitting out overnight and I would expect there to be fresher pastries for being La Colombe. I was a barista for a few years at a very busy location in the city, so I understand the balance of handling the morning rush very well. Most of the associates were friendly and attentive, but one of the baristas were less so. I’ve been to other coffee shops in the city with much better service where they were busier. You can get better espresso here than the typical Sbux chain for sure, but overall comparing the whole—espresso, croissant, service, cost—I could’ve gotten a similar experience at the mega chain with maybe even better service which is the reason for the 3 stars. I was expecting a more elevated experience here.
I’m a big fan of making matcha at home and love exploring different cafes when commuting to work. Unfortunately, this matcha was the weakest I've ever tried at a shop. The color was very light, almost too pale, so much so that I could barely tell it was matcha while drinking it. The flavor leaned more toward sweet than bitter. I did ask the barista about the matcha brand they use, and I believe they mentioned it was from Uji 🤷🏻♀️. However, for comparison, there's a cafe near La Colombe that serves a much stronger matcha with a slightly bitter taste and a darker, richer color—definitely a much more satisfying cup for matcha lovers.
Coffee wasn’t bad, limited choices, baristas not friendly and didn’t understand what I was asking - pumpkin syrup or cold foam with a cold brew. Ended up going to another coffee bar to get syrup only… won’t be back. Go to Vanilla Gorilla instead.
Super annoyed since all week I have been ordering an iced pumpkin pie chai with regular milk, and paying extra for it. And now today, a barista said they do not serve this drink with regular milk, only oat milk…and I can only get a regular chai - which means I’ve been overcharged all week since today it was suddenly cheaper.
i don’t like to leave negative reviews, but my experience today was disheartening. ordered an iced oatmilk latte with vanilla, and unfortunately my latte tasted nothing like vanilla. i asked if they could please add a bit more, and the barista gave her co-worker the most outraged, disgusted look over my request. i’ve been a barista, i know customers can be a pain, but my coffee tasted awful to me and i was nothing but courteous when i asked for more syrup. paid $8 for bad coffee and a demoralizing encounter.
Service is meh. They got my order size wrong and when I asked to correct it I was served with a side of attitude. I come here from time to time and I get that it’s a busy place but was pretty disappointed with the service here recently.
I went today since I live in the area and just wanted coffee quick before taking my dog to the park. I thought the dog interaction was really weird. As soon as I walked in the lady was weirdly rude about walking in with my dog. I’m completely understanding that dog aren’t allowed but then offer the alternative say "you can order but unfortunately can’t wait with dogs inside." There are 1000 others ways to interact other than "You can't be in here with your dog, there is a sign" .... Instead she basically said I had to go and then I asked "if I could order and leave” since I wasn’t planning on staying inside anyways. Her response was “I mean yeah, but you have to wait outside” again cool. For me it’s all about the approach. It’s about the tone. She was just completely off and unwelcoming. That being said it could have just been an off day or she has to tell people 100x a day and is just tired of it. All of which I’m understand to. Just won’t go back to this location but normally love La Colombe !
Maybe they have good coffee, but also bad attitude in the morning, yes, the very beginning of your working day, even earlier than your boss, can make you start a angry day from here. 🤬
I really wanted to like this Columbe coffee shop. The beans smelled great, the vibe looked promising, and I was all set to become a regular… until I committed the unthinkable sin of buying decaf beans. (Seriously, who even sells those? That’s like selling sugar-free candy to kids on Halloween.) Anyway, I walked in with my unopened bag of nap-inducing beans, hoping to swap them for the real, caffeinated deal. No refund. Just a swap. Harmless, right? Apparently not. Despite buying it right here with cash, and being totally reasonable (yes, I said please), the staff decided to channel their inner DMV employee and hit me with the classic: “No receipt, no exchange.” Cool. Guess security footage, common sense, and basic decency aren’t part of the brew here. To be clear: I wasn’t asking for the moon, just a normal bag of actual coffee. You know, the stuff people drink to stay awake and tolerate humanity. But this place would rather let a customer walk out irritated than do something mildly helpful. Sure, the coffee tastes good. But now every sip reminds me of the cold, caffeinated heartlessness behind the counter. Congrats, Columbe, you’ve brewed the perfect blend of good flavor and bad service. Never coming back, but thanks for the lesson in bean-based bureaucracy
It saddens me to leave this review but last week I visited Colombe and even though the coffee was amazing (as always) I can't say the same for the staff. The barista was rude with me and very impatient since we weren't understanding each other clearly because English is not my first language. They rushed me to make an order despite they not fully understanding what I was asking for.
I’ve been a regular customer at this store but I was shocked how bad the service it got. I went here today around 3:30pm and ordered a large latte with oat milk. They kept making the order wrong literally three times in a row. When I was about to exit the shop, a worker was changing the garbage bags for their garbage bins. However, the garbage bins were put out and there was no sign showing for recycle or trash. So I throw my cup into one of them. All out of sudden the worker shouted at me “NOT THAT ONE!!!!”, and then he stared at me like I’m an idiot in front of all customers. It’s so terrible and unprofessional. I don’t understand how the store management team allows a worker like this working there and treated their customers like this. Really disappointing. I’ll never go back here ever again.
It was my first time trying la colombe and the experience was horrible. I ordered hazelnut oat milk latte. I wanted to order decaf, but the girl with short hair took my order didn't even let me finish my order and let to go make the coffee. Then, I saw that the coffee was coming from the draft, but it tasted like straight up oat milk. No coffee nor hazelnut flavor. I went back to the store and asked, but the Asian girl was giving me an attitude, and treated me like I was in preschool. I am not sure what her problem is, but super rude. I am never coming back to la colombe.
I got cold brew but I cannot even get another sip. So I asked them to staff for changing my drink. They're super friendly and kind. And they changed with an iced latte but that was bad too. That taste was like burnt.
The atmosphere was nice, but you couldn't hear the conversation over the loud music, and the barista was not very good at managing the flow of customers, which was not much. He gave others their drinks before mine and then could not remember what I ordered. He was trying way too hard to be hip and cool than in customer service.
giving bad service and a poorly made coffee just for not tipping on a $7+ cappuccino is wild
I’ve been going to this specific location for a couple months now but my service last week was ridiculous. I ordered my beverage (half tan & an ice red eye) with my boyfriend and he received his drink but I didn’t receive mine. Understandably, the place was super busy considering it was the morning rush. But then I saw that 3 customers after me received their order and I still didn’t have my drink. My boyfriend proceeded to let a staff member know that I was skipped. But, they assured us the drink should be going out soon. I then saw the one staff member make the same drink (iced oat latte) for the customer after me twice so clearly there was something wrong with the order in the drinks that were made. After the staff member noticed that I still didn’t have my drink and made the drink for the customer 5 places after me, the staff member (WITH MUCH ATTITUDE) got in my face and asked me what it was that I ordered, then threw it on the counter and did not apologize at all for the wait and disregarding the fact they did in fact skip me. My boyfriend then grabbed 2 plastic straws behind the counter (technically this is our fault since they do have a sign that says please ask for the plastic straws, so I’ll take the accountability and hold that L) but all the other staff members were occupied bc they were SOOO BUSY so he just grabbed them since we were already waiting so long for our drink. It’s funny how they’re so busy that they skipped me, but they have plenty of time to reprimand someone for grabbing a straw after being skipped and waiting for a drink. I’m usually not compelled to not make reviews, but they didn’t care that they did in fact make me wait and somehow made it my fault. Go to the La Colombe on Lafayette, they have a line out the door and they’re still nice and efficient.
Probably one of the worst service experiences I’ve ever had at a coffee shop. Guy working the register at 10am on 12/16 was rude and condescending and kept laughing at me condescendingly. Woman who made my coffee was wonderful and coffee tasted great, but will not be back to this location due to the man’s service.
