Opinions de Maggie's Place New York
It gets very packed, but the bartenders are great. Drinks are great and food gets the job done. The only downside is it gets flooded with an after work customer base so you might have a wait.
Can’t say enough about this place. All the staff are extremely kind and welcoming. It’s definitely my first choice when leaving through grand central for some food and a beer. My waitress Liv was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. She was quick with my food and drink. Not to mention her smile and personality radiates throughout the whole place. Great atmosphere. Great staff, Highly recommend!
One of the best pubs in Manhattan. True Irish hospitality, outstanding food and terrific drinks, including solid choices for craft beer that always tastes fresh. Always a nice crowd. Very convenient to Grand Central Madison so a great place to have a beer before boarding the LIRR.
amanda / mandy was amazing as services and she took care of everyone as well as anastasia our bartender.
Great drinks, good service. Perfect for a fast HH after work or with clients. A bit noisy if you’re having conversation but the outdoor space looked good too
Fabricio was absolutely fantastic. I asked on a recommendation and he literally gave me a perfect cocktail
Maddie and the food was unreal! Gutted my name wasnt maggie for the tshirt.
Stopped in for a quick lunch and it was delicious! My husband had the turkey burger and sweet potato fries, very very good! I had the Brussels Caesar and it was perfect for lunch! Staff was very friendly, we sat outside and enjoyed our visit! We will be back
Food was incredible and service was even better! Shoutout to Kaitlyn.
Just had lunch there. Great vibe, friendly staff, food and drinks were terrific, even though place was full. Crab cake very good mushroom appetizer also good. Hard to find a good place in midtown. I'll be back!!!
This bar is such a hidden gem in Manhattan. Raphael was my bartender and he was absolutely perfect. Always attentive and kind. Ask for a spicy margarita! It was perfect. I’d come back literally tomorrow.
Really cute restaurant in what looks like an old house. Service was great and the food was delicious. Perfect place to pop in for lunch on a workday.
Food - delicious especially for the value Atmosphere- terrific beautiful at Christmas perfectly appointed! Service - 10/5!! We came in at 6:00 & said can we get 5 meals by 6:30 to get to Top of Rock 7:10 appointment & we’re given front table (as tourists). Left 6:50 got 3 blocks & wife says left iPhone in their bathroom! Ugh! Me fat out of shape asthma from FL running 4 blocks at 25 degree temp get to host stand start to explain & he smiles & hands me the phone - run back & get to Rock at 7:14 & get in!! THANK YOU MAGGIES!!!!!!! Will never forget you!
We feel so lucky to have stumbled into Maggie’s for a late lunch today. Not only was it an amazing place to have a bite and a beer but Emilio, our bartender, was our sherpa to New York City! We are so grateful he shared his top spots for our quick 48 hour getaway. Thanks Maggie’s and Emilio!
Love coming to this place as a treat after a weird day. The Maggie's old fashioned is the best old fashioned I've had. The ahi tuna nachos are my favorite appetizer. Or if you're looking for something warming and filling, please try the Shepard's pie with the cheese added. No matter how busy it gets, the staff are always nice and easy to communicate with.
Loved it here. Super chill, as expected for the area on a Monday night. Bartender was fantastic- music and vibes, immaculate. Great drinks. Got the brussel sprouts and just kinda wish the apples were raw. Would have been a nice crunch with the sprouts and blue cheese, but even cooked the dish was so savory and sweet, really great experience.
I loved the food, and the craft cocktail was delicious. Amanda was a lovely server and I will definitely be coming here again.
Amanda was great , good customer service skills and took very good care of us . Great worker definitely looking forward to coming back
I had a work party today and it was amazing. The server Amanda specifically treated me really good and took a lot of attention on us
Really enjoyed Maggie’s Place. The service was fast and super friendly, and it’s definitely a kid-friendly spot, which made things easy. Great for a casual meal where everyone feels welcome—would go again for sure!
My lady and I came across this place just bar hopping looking for a real NYC vibe with good food and service. We hit the jackpot with this place and will be back.
Our server Madi was amazing! So sweet and attentive. We had a wonderful experience!
Came to Maggie's Place after arriving in town late evening and hungry. They seated us quickly, the service was prompt and friendly. We had 2 Teddy's old fashioned, sticky gochujang wings and split a Maggie's burger with bacon and cheese. All were really good. The bill was also not bad at all, considering NY prices! It was also decorated nicely for Christmas which we enjoyed!
This review is late, but our company has our Holiday Party at Maggie's last year and we had an amazing experience. From the beginning making the reservation and selecting the food with the help of Carly was so easy. The afternoon of the party we were greeted by Samantha and Ciara who could not have been nicer or more helpful. Every single person that attended made a comment on how great these ladies were. The food was delicious and was constantly circulated, overall I cannot recommend Maggie's Place enough for your events we will definitely be back here.
Came in for a luncheon for 27 people and every order was done correctly. We ordered off the New York City restaurant week menu. Today I ordered calamari as an appetizer then the burger with bacon and an egg, My coworker ordered the fish and chips and we shared. Great retirement luncheon. Thank you for a very pleasant memorable afternoon.
Super cute little pub with awesome food. Was debating between the steak sandwich and their burger. Ended up choosing the Angry burger with cheddar instead of blue cheese. Super delicious. Ahi tuna nachos was delicious as well. Very busy place - all reservations were booked we got a table luckily but there were constantly people waiting to get seated. Anyway awesome little joint!
Absolutely amazing place! Yarick our waiter was spectacular and the atmosphere is incredible. Food was great and definitely will be back for the drinks ✨
Great service in a great atmosphere. We went when only the first floor was open; it was cozy and intimate. It can get a little loud at times if it's crowded. The waiter was attentive and created a welcoming dinner. The food and drinks were good. We had a couple of cocktails and local beers. I personally liked their Brooklyn pilsner. Heads up in the Dealer's Choice cocktail, it has a bold cilantro flavor but very refreshing. We had the Shepard's pie and calamari. The Shepard's pie was just hearty enough for a casual night out and went well with the beer. The calamari was nice and lightly battered. We also had the chocolate cake for dessert and it rounded off the night well. Price wise, this place is more $30-50 per person without drinks. Be prepared for some NYC priced cocktails if you're planning to drink though. Overall, great place and it closed my vacation on a high note. Will definitely come back again if I'm in the area.
Maggie's Place satisfies food cravings. Workers here are both fast and approachable. You get location-appropriate billing at this place. Their food is addictively good. The staff provided excellent care, and I'll return when nearby.
Cozy, bright, welcoming, and a good vibe all around. Everyone was chatty and in a great mood. Drinks were fairly priced and the shareables had a good variety.
For a Black Friday, it was a nice, quiet spot out of the hustle and bustle. Atmosphere was quite festive for the holidays. Traditional Irish fare did not disappoint. Crispy, flaky and light fish with chips and steaming hot, generously topped Shepherd's Pie hit the spot on a blustery day. Since there were only two parties in the establishment, service was exceptional - friendly, attentive and gracious. Although we did not partake, Maggie's features lots of draughts on tap! Highly recommend it when at Rockefeller Center.
Great pub for a quick bite. Burger wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it was good and a good value. Staff was quick and friendly. Highly recommend.
My experience left me planning a return visit soon. The flavors outdo those at pricier establishments. Employees are incredibly kind and their food tips were perfectly satisfying. The mood makes you feel immediately comfortable. Hope you find something you love.
Walked miles to come here for a Guinness 0.0 Very friend staff and the Christmas decorations were amazing. Sadly the food wasn’t up to the level of what I had expected, nothing wrong with it, the fish was just more of what I expect from a cheaper pub in the UK. But the bar and the Guinness 0.0 makes up for the food. Sadly we only made it here once on our visit.
Maggie’s is the best! Right near Grand Central and central to Time Square and Central Park. Seems like new management are doing the right thing!! Staff were lovely and efficient! We will be back!! Thank you!!
Maddie was the best! Took great care of us and makes one of the meanest espresso martinis in the city. Highly recommend!
Went for holiday lunch with colleagues. It was nicely decorated for Christmas and very cozy. The food was good and service was good.
Just had a wonderful dining experience at Maggie’s Place. Food, atmosphere and service were fabulous!!! Prices were very reasonable. Highly recommend!!!
Came from a trip and walked into Maggie’s with a group of friends. I usually don’t leave reviews; however, we were thrilled by the service and hospitable atmosphere, specially the bartender Fabrizio who took care of us and made the overall experience memorable.
This place was beautifully and simply decorated for Christmas! The food was absolutely amazing. We got the BBQ chicken pizza, the barbecue sauces was SO good! We also got the traditional wings and mozzarella kabobs! The sauces again were so good. We got espresso martinis as a dessert and they were superb! Definitely check out this gem!
Love this place! People, atmosphere and food are all good. Been there since the 70's- It was recently updated but also kept the charm. The 1974 is a great cocktail. Loved the pot pie. Was packed with chicken and great on a cold night. My son crushed the burger and we stole a bunch of his sweet potato fries. Has a cool bar scene but i enjoyed sitting down to eat. We come here every time we visit NYC!
We had such a wonderful experience at Maggie’s on 47th, and a huge part of that was our amazing waitress, Amanda! From the moment we were seated, she was incredibly delightful, attentive, and genuinely kind. She made excellent recommendations that were absolutely spot-on and took the time to make sure everything was perfect for us. Amanda has such a warm, positive energy you can tell she truly cares about her guests and loves what she does. She was helpful without ever being overbearing, knowledgeable about the menu, and made our dining experience feel special and effortless. Honestly, service like hers is rare and deserves recognition. Thank you, Amanda, for going above and beyond and making our visit unforgettable. We’ll definitely be back and hope to be lucky enough to have her again!
Amanda served our party and was fantastic from start to finish. She was friendly, attentive, and made great recommendations. Even during a busy night, she stayed on top of everything and made sure we were taken care of. You can tell she works hard and is really dedicated to growing in the restaurant world. We’d happily come back just to be in her section again.
We felt right at home from the moment we stepped into Maggie's Place!! We were meeting friends after our son had run the NYC Marathon, and we ended up making more friends with the wonderful staff. Danielle, (the manager) in particular, was amazing accommodating, and very fun to talk to. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere is so welcoming. This will be our "go to" when visiting Manhattan! Thanks to all for a great time!!!
One of the best pubs you will ever go to - if you are in Manhattan, you need to check this place out! My family, friends, and I went to Maggie’s after the NYC Marathon over the weekend to celebrate. Beyond great Guinness pours and the best fish and chips you’ll ever have, the atmosphere was really outstanding. I felt so comfortable celebrating there with close family and friends. The best part about the location is the service. Danielle was a pleasure to work with - she was so accommodating and ensured my group had everything we needed. Cannot thank Maggie’s enough for helping me celebrate a special weekend!
Maggie’s Place was the PERFECT spot for our engagement party! Venue was ideal , great atmosphere- indoor and outdoor!! Super convenient location. Ellie was fantastic to work with- she planned, confirmed and executed well beyond our expectation! Couldn’t have asked for a better place to CELEBRATE!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — “Wish You Were Here” From the very first moment, the service was impeccable — attentive, kind, and full of positive energy that truly makes a difference. You can tell when the staff loves what they do, ❤️ and here the whole team makes you feel genuinely welcome, especially the managers. ✨ The burger was incredible — perfectly cooked, with crispy bacon and cheese melted to perfection. And the “Wish You Were Here” cocktail (made with pisco and Malibu coconut) was such a delightful surprise. 💕 I’m not usually a cocktail fan, but this one definitely made it to my Top Favorites list. 🔝🔝🔝 A place with excellent service, a lovely atmosphere, and food that truly exceeds expectations. Highly recommended — I’ll definitely be back! 🍔🥂
Oh my goodness, Mady. She was great. The food was great too. But the drinks Mady made were exquisite. Heard a lot about the owners and the bar and this is the type of place that needs to be celebrated. Mady made our experience today. See you tomorrow!
Great experience! From the get go, service was on point. The food and drinks were delicious. The Tuscan chicken sandwich was so good and the Kobe sliders were yummy. They were a little over done but they were small, so we made the best of it. My smoky margarita was delicious as well. One negative was it was a little loud, but it was the after work crowd so it made sense.
We visited at 2PM on a Sunday for a late lunch, only one person working but they gave great service given that they had to bounce all around the restaurant and bar. The crab cakes were rich and luscious with plenty of blue crab, though they didn’t have much crunch on the fry. The fish and chips had an excellent crunch to them, though the fries were a bit soft for my liking. The spicy crispy chicken sandwich wasn’t particularly spicy or crispy, but the chicken was moist and cooked well. We were able to get a side of buffalo sauce and suddenly it was a nicely spicy sandwich. Also had excellent air conditioning and a perfect spot for us to cool off on a hot August Sunday afternoon. Would come back!
I wanted to love this place. The photos and reviews had all been so positive, and I had high hopes going in. I went with a friend for dinner on a Friday evening after work, looking forward to a great meal and atmosphere. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t quite live up to the hype. We decided to split two items: the Crab Cake Burger and the Maggie Burger. The Crab Cake Burger was the clear winner. The crab cake itself was flavorful and cooked well, and it was much better than I expected. However, the Maggie Burger fell flat for me. The flavors just didn’t come together in a way that felt exciting, and unfortunately, the seasoning was pretty bland. The fries, which are usually a simple but important part of any burger experience, were also underwhelming—again, lacking in seasoning and flavor. The bar area was beautiful and had a great vibe, which is definitely a plus. The atmosphere was welcoming, and you could tell a lot of effort had gone into making it a pleasant space to hang out. However, when it comes to dining, the food is the most important thing, and unfortunately, that’s where the experience didn’t quite hit the mark for us. While the Crab Cake Burger was good enough to salvage part of the meal, I’m not sure I’d return. There are plenty of other spots where I can find great, well-seasoned burgers and fries. It's always disappointing when a place that looks great and has so much potential doesn’t quite deliver on the food side. I’d be open to revisiting, but next time, I think I’ll choose something else to try.
We went there after seeing the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center. The place was crowded, but we were lucky to be seated right away. We had the burgers, and they were good, I would go back. The service was good.
Great NYC lunch spot. Quiet relaxed nice vibe. Excellent food, I enjoyed an enormous, by Australian standards, chicken toastie plus the usual fries. Glass of Chardonnay to top it off. Just a bit dark for me but atmospheric and service was excellent. Probably need to make a reservation to guarantee a table.
Service was great, food was very good - higher end pub grub not a huge menu ... also not horribly priced for midtown. Sat at a high top next to the bar so it was loud, which is to be expected ... we chose to sit there, probably quieter upstairs at the regular tables if you want to more easily converse.
Loved the decor and atmosphere of this bar. I will preface that my rating is for the drinks only. My friends loved their Irish coffees. I order an amaretto sour which was delicious. Drinks ranged from $16-$20 each. I will say the service could have been better. We just sat at the bar and the bar tender never asked if we wanted another, wasn’t talkative. I had to really grab his attention to order. Overall would definitely come back but service could improve.
The vibe, appetizers, and service were amazing!! They played Irish pop music & it was so lovely! I loved the scotch egg - was my first time having and this was honestly filling on its own, but I made room for an entree and dessert! My partner also loved the truffle burrata and prosciutto board - delectable smell and taste. Unfortunately, the entrees and dessert fell flat for us both. Didn’t have enough flavor. Presentation was great but I’m more interested in how food tastes. Was fun to go for restaurant week but I wouldn’t go back.
The food was very good. The only thing I didn't like was that the person who brought me my food smelled like alcohol. I thought I was drunk. Other than that, it's a great place.
We were slightly disappointed in Maggie's. In spite of making reservations, we were seated a high top by the bar (upstairs) as if we were squeezed in. Food was good, but the menu selections with very basic and underwhelming. OUR waitress disappeared, never to be seen again, so we had to flag another waiter to finish and get our check.
Atmosphere is good. However, Maggie’s house burgers is too small and too dry. It’s a special blend of dry meet. It literally comes with only a small piece of lettuce and tomato. And… that’s all. The so-called brioche is a blend piece of bread. I make a better brioche— I am no baker.
Food was great. The fish and chips were delicious with a really nice dill tartar sauce. The service was atrocious. It took once 45 minutes once we were finished eating to call our waitress over to pay the bill.
Booked through Resy. Reception at front door was excellent. Seated right away in the "library" room, which is lovely. Initially, our waitress was good, but then the food came. And no follow-up at all. There were four of us, we all had price fix lunch menu. I was pleasantly surprised at the first course portions (very good). We had sticky wings, calamari, and watermelon salad, all were good, especially the wings. For the main entree, three of us had fish & chips & I had the short rib sandwich- again, all great portions. Two of the fish & chip eaters were not a fan...Way too much breading. Fries were meh. Short rib sandwich was good. Our major irritant was that we sat at our table with dirty dishes and a CC in hand, ready to pay, for 20-25 minutes while the bartender, other waitstaff, & manager all chit-chatting/ complaining within 5 feet of us. I finally had to ask for the check, and then the bartender was nasty about it.
Wings didn’t come w celery nor carrots. This HAS to be a standard…….. otherwise $18 for 6 salty wings…. Bartender should also know the price of the beers I order—led me to only one round…………..
Finally checked out Maggie’s Place after work. It’s a solid local bar and was pretty packed when I went. I ordered the Teddy’s Old Fashioned—surprisingly really good! Though I wasn’t crazy about the little chamomile in it. As for the service… not great. Our server seemed like she didn’t want to be there, which kind of killed the vibe. Overall, meh!
I realllllly wanted to like this place. The photos and reviews all represent this place so highly. It just fell flat for us. Went w a friend for dinner on a Friday after work. We split a crab cake burger and a the Maggie burger. The crab cake was definitely better than burger. The burger and fries just weren’t well seasoned. The bar is beautiful but I’m not sure I would come back.
The food was delicious, although there were two strands of hair in my salad 🥗. Service is too slow, make sure you're not in a hurry when you decide to go here. The atmosphere in the restaurant is good. One of the loos was dirty, unfortunately. I had mixed feelings about this place.
Place was steady buddy. Waitress sat us and that was the last time we saw any employees. We waiting a good 20 mins ending up leaving to Valerie's where we were serviced properly.
Amazing food! With that being said, I attended an event and one of the managers was super rude and patronizing. When I was standing with my drink she told me to move and when I asked where she said, and I quote, “Out of my way.” It was a really uncomfortable moment that made my whole group feel unwelcome and we almost left. Thank goodness for our server! The service I received from the servers and hosts was exceptional but I was very thrown to be spoken to like that by a manger. Had our server not come when they did, we most likely would have left very shortly after. Not sure if we will come again..I’d probably leave if I ran into her.
We made a reservation for this past Saturday night and when we arrived, we were seated promptly in very nice area at the end of the bar. There was only one other party of two there when we were there. I thought it was weird for a seemingly nice restaurant to be empty on a Saturday night. The waitress was very friendly and prompt. The menu, to me, it seems kind of sad because of the type of dishes they serve, in NYC! Sheppards pie and steak au poivre, amongst others of the like. However, since my wife was so excited to go there because a friend of hers recommended the place, I kept a hopeful attitude. We ordered some appetizers, nothing crazy, just cheese balls with marinara sauce. Then dinner, I ordered the steak au poivre, my daughter ordered the salmon, my son ordered fish and chips anf lastly, my wife ordered the sheppards pie. Everything seemed okay until I got my steak, I ordered it medium, I got it very, very well done. I sent it back and it came back at a slightly medium rare but, I chose not to send it back again. Maybe I should have and maybe I should have ordered something different because after that dinner, I got severely ill and I'm actually still feeling the effects of the illness, after having to endure two days of horrible stomach pain, vomiting, and getting a headache and body chills all day and night. I even had to take a day off work, and who knows, it might end up being two days of sick time off because I still don't feel well and it's already night time on day two of being horribly ill. For all I endured, I would suggest not ordering the steak or just don't go there. I wish I could have shared in my wife's feelings for the restaurant but, I can't, after my illness.
