This place is an absolute gem. If you are craving some excellent pasta... go here immediately. Atmosphere is cozy and intimate, service was a little on the slower side but greatness takes time I suppose. Nothing bad to say absolutely would return. Everything I had was awesome.

I came here for lunch & ordered the lasagna. 10 out of 10 . Absolutely delicious. Definitely will be back soon.!

We went for a quick lunch with my boyfriend and ended up discovering one of the best lasagna we have had in long time, the eggplant Parmesan was also amazing. The food was delicious and our server Natalia was very knowledgeable and kind. We will definitely be back!

Always a delight to dine at Mark's Off Madison. I had dinner on Monday evening, returning as I always do when I am in New York. This restaurant gets everything right: great menu, great food, excellent and professional service. I prefer indoor dining in their very nice dining room, but for those who prefer to dine outdoors, there is a very nice area. Top notch. I will continue to return to this restaurant when I am in New York.

I found this place through an Instagram reel for their lasagna, and my boyfriend loves lasagna, so I figured since we'll be in NYC for the weekend, let's go to Mark's! Best choice! The lasagna was so good! We also got a bagel and bialy basket for the table and I was not disappointed! If you have the chance to stop in, do it!

Of course I came here for their infamous lasagne (if you know you know) and fell in love at first bite. Fortunately, I found myself continually travelling halfway across New York to keep getting a taste of that incredibly fresh pasta. I love you Mark’s!

Two dishes stood out for me - and both are worthy of 5*! Calamari Alla Griglia - baked calamari dusted with breadcrumbs served with marinated tomato & basil. So flavorful and perfect! "Devour" Chicken Parm with Rigatoni ala Vodka - a dish that can easily serve 3! Perfectly breaded and baked chicken cutlets with slathered tomato sauce and parmesan cheese. Plus creamy and spicy Rigatoni!

Great Italian food and service. It was definitely on the more expensive side but it was still really good. The ingredients were simple yet the dishes were so flavourful. The service was quick and helpful and gave us more bread when we asked.

Cannot say enough about the food at Mark’s. Eaten here many times and love the food. There is something for everyone. The wait staff is very good and helpful with suggestions. The salads, appetizers, fresh and dry pastas, entrees are wonderful. The lasagna is the best I have ever had. There is a killer chocolate cake for dessert. The room is lively, friendly, and lit with a nice glow. On the weekends they have an exceptional brunch and I highly recommend the smoked salmon platter. You will have a wonderful experience at Mark’s! Go soon. P.S. All breads baked on premises and excellent!

My family and I were coming back from a long trip and my son really wanted lasagna. We weren’t formally dressed, but we didn’t look bad either. Unfortunately, the host stared at us the entire time, which made my son very uncomfortable. I tried to reassure him, joking that since the restaurant is more upscale, maybe everyone just looks serious or “mad.” But I definitely noticed what he was saying, I just didn’t want to encourage those feelings of being out of place or that he didn’t belong. That aside, the food was excellent, and the prices were very fair. Definitely worth it!

Same chef and kitchen as the infamous Fred’s at Barney’s. Everything was outstanding, from the bread and butter to the Apple strudel (and everything in between). Highly recommend. Not too long before this becomes the next hot reservation in New York.

Est. 2020 Layout/atmosphere *Bar straight back from maitre’d station; tables; clear view window in wall to the kitchen; tables on sidewalk surrounded by plants (“patio”) Service *Attentive Food/drink *Paper Plane (Bourbon, Amaro, Aperol, Lime Juice) - Good; chilled; right amount of sweetness *Complimentary bread basket with butter *”Devour” Chicken Parmigiana with Rigatoni Alla Vodka - really good; cutlets thinner to absorb all the sauce and toppings; drizzle of pesto; tender pasta, not over sauced

The lasagna lived up to my expectations, one of the best I’ve had. Great service by the bartender too.

My coworker saw the video of the making of the Lasagna Della Nonna, so of course, we had to try it. LOL Delicious! But be warned, it takes time to make it. You might take longer than your lunch hour LOL The Linguini Alla Vongole was good. Service was wonderful. I forgot our waitress name but she was fun and attentive.

Tried this based off of a Instagram review… and the shrimp/lobster pasta did not disappoint…. I would absolutely get it again. Wife got the pizza margherita and it left some to be desired… not sure what was off, but just didn’t do it for her. Kids got the spaghetti and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would still recommend this place for a delicious meal and great service!

Great food, great service at this New York staple. Highly recommended for food lovers! The baked clams with creamy zesty sauce were really good. Crab cake and orata were amazing. Good wine selection as well.

Most expensive lasagne I’ve ever had, but also the most delicious. The chips / fries were also incredible as was the home made bread. I’d highly recommend a visit. My only complaint was the lasagne was a touch too cold for my liking. I like ‘hot’ food to be hit, and mine was quite cold in the middle.

I saw a video on Instagram of how they prepare the lasagna. That's when I knew....this was going to be a destination. I never ate here before but I knew exactly where it was because it was around the corner from the express bus. I first called to inquire if they served the lasagna on Sunday and the lovely woman on the phone assured me it was available. Then she asked if she could make a reservation for me so I said yes. She was a delight. I got to the restaurant and it was bustling with people. So I said to myself...ok that's a good sign. We were first brought a basket of assorted breads/bagels. Let me tell you, the bagels were phenomenal. So fresh tasting! We ordered the lasagna and I must say, it did not disappoint. The super thin layers of pasta (made in house) and the combination of beef and cheese made this bite a party in my mouth. 🤤 We ordered the pear and apple shortcake and some assorted cookies. All of these desserts were fantastic. Even the simple double chocolate cookie felt elevated in taste. Lastly I HAVE to mention our server Peter. He was great! Very attentive and friendly. He made this first dining an experience to remember. We will surely return here. We can't wait to try other menu items!

From start to finish, our experience was absolutely perfect. We were a party of five, and when our meals arrived, the reactions around the table said it all: “This is the best lasagna I’ve ever had,” “The eggplant is extraordinary,” “These baked clams are the most tender I’ve ever eaten,” and “This is the best Restaurant Week menu I’ve ever seen.” The menu offers a wide selection of authentic Italian specialties. I wanted to try everything. The atmosphere strikes a beautiful balance: ambient lighting, generously sized tables, and a spacious dining room that blends mid-century modern touches with traditional charm. Service was outstanding. The waitstaff was warm, attentive, and accommodating, and as we were leaving, the owner personally came over to introduce himself, a thoughtful gesture that made the evening feel even more special. We left already talking about what we’d order next time. This restaurant is truly a gem,

Highly recommend this place for ambience, service and location. Our server, Sheikh (spelling) made sure that our water glasses were always full. With a smile. We never had to search or do the frantic hand waves (surprising how many upscale places don't pay attention to the details). It was a full house for good reason. They love what they do and it shows from the moment you step foot inside until the moment you you leave. One suggestion: I mentioned to a hostess that a toilet was out of order. It wasn't a pleasant sight. It wasn't fixed all night. Perhaps no one was available. Perhaps the restaurant could have locked the door so that we don't have to see a "porta potty" sight on an otherwise beautiful evening.

So I kept seeing the famous lasagna on Tik Tok (I’m from the UK) so made it a mission to visit on a last minute trip to NY Have to say the hype did not disappoint! The lasagna was amazing, the fresh bread was also really good and the freshly baked cookies were a amazing finish! Marks Manhattan cocktail was also a win and was quite tipsy after just the one! Definitely recommend a visit!

Mark's Off Madison was EXCEPTIONAL! From start to finish, the experience was absolutely incredible. The food was flawless—the lasagna was hands down the best I've ever had (even better than my own, which stings a little to admit!). Every bite exceeded expectations, and the attention to detail in both service and atmosphere made the night unforgettable. I can’t wait to return!

Absolutely delicious. My son came from Atlanta, and this was on his to-do list. He came for the lasagna de la nona & he was in Italian heaven. The atmosphere needs a bit more of a feel to it, but good nonetheless. Service was good & every dish we had was spot on. Highly recommend it and curious to try their bagels & lunch meals. Bravissimo! P.s: THE BELGIAN FRIES! MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR THEM EXTRA CRISPY!

I saw the lasagna Della Nonna on a reel on Facebook and added Mark's off Madison to our itinerary when we visited NY. It was WELL worth it. The restaurant is so beautiful, we had amazing service. The lasagna is out of this world, the meat is so tender, the sauce was rich and creamy.

Very nice place with good service and very tasty food. I was expecting it to be more expensive given the location and portion size but it's not. We paid about 60$ per person for 2 starters and 1 main each. The lasagna was as good as the pictures, which rarely happens, the waiters were polite, and the place itself looks nice.

Mark’s Off Madison is one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment you sit down and dive into that in-house-made breadbasket you know everything on the menu is going to be good. The menu has an amazing selection of Italian and Jewish comfort foods. It’s beyond good. Mark is so kind and an incredible chef. You can feel the love in the food you eat. They provide an amazing experience to the customers and I love bringing people here from out of town to experience it. Pro-tip: save room for dessert. The Boston cream is the best donut you’ll ever have and all of the other desserts are incredible. Thank you, Mark!

Marks Off Madison absolutely lived up to the hype. They won’t seat you until the full party arrives, but they still honored our reservation even though we were about 20 minutes late, which we appreciated. Mark himself was hosting that night, setting the tone from the start. Our server was top-notch—very accommodating, unpretentious, and helped create a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. We ordered the lasagna, chicken parm, garganelli pasta, Belgian fries, mushroom pizza, and my personal favorite, the focaccia robiola (as far as I know, this is the only place in the city that still makes it). Every single dish was outstanding - fresh, high quality, and executed perfectly. We also tried cocktails and finished with the black and white cookie, which was excellent. Service was seamless and attentive without ever feeling forced. They truly didn’t miss a note. On our way out, we told Mark we were even bigger fans than before. He gave us fist bumps - true New Yorker by heart and by taste. A legend.

Superb food! Instagram lasagna did not disappoint. Spiced veal pasta was a nice surprise and must get again. Drinks were perfect. Desserts not impressive for NYC.

Heard the fresh pasta here did not disappoint. Was able to get seated right away without a reservation right when the restaurant open at 5PM to enjoy dinner. Got a seat right by the window where we could see others who wanted to enjoy a meal outside. The bread served to us was a mix of bagels, sourdough, and pizza crusts which was definitely different and tasty. Enjoyed the ceviche as an app which had just the right amount of citrus. For mains ordered the pappardelle with brisket ragu and insalata di mare. Will be back for the ceviche and ragu. Did not have any room for dessert but the soufflé cake is made to order. This restaurant definitely has a vibe with low lighting

Food was excellent! Good portions, flavor. I came to try the lasagna and was not disappointed! The deserts and pizza were also really good. The pace of dinner service is relaxed, so you can take your time eating, but it doesn't drag. Service was excellent.

I discovered this restaurant through a TikTok recommendation that claimed it had the best lasagne in Manhattan—and it did not disappoint. I specifically came for the lasagne, and it was truly exceptional: rich, flavorful, and expertly prepared. To start, we enjoyed the grilled calamari, served simply with tomato and basil—a unique presentation that proved surprisingly delightful. We also tried the seafood linguini, which featured a generous amount of lobster and was equally impressive in both taste and quality. We concluded our meal with the blueberry crumble, which was a perfect ending to an already outstanding dining experience. Every dish was thoughtfully executed, and the service was exceptional. Judith, our server, ensured we were well cared for throughout the evening. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to answer all of our questions. Overall, the experience was superb from start to finish. I look forward to returning.

Mark’s Off Madison 41 Madison Ave. New York, NY 10010 Assorted Bread Old Fashioned Wedge Salad Lasagne Della Nonna “Devour” Chicken Parmesan Old Fashioned Lemon Ice Box Cake Local Peach Upside Down Cake Appearance: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Literally located off Madison Ave (hence the catchy name) is a restaurant specializing in Italian dishes. It’s definitely a place to treat M.O.M. (No pun intended) The assorted table bread is made in house consisting of focaccia, sour dough and semolina. Another nutritious starter is the wedge salad. The bleu cheese crumble and bacon bits are definitely the best part. Mark’s lasagna is definitely one of his signature entrees. In between the multiple flat sheets of pasta are veal, beef, and pork Bolognese. The creamy sauce is the backbone to this dish! Another classic Italian dish that always catches my eye is the chicken Parmesan, which I certainly “devoured.” I must acknowledge the attractive artistic appearance of the “M” insignia written in pesto. Regardless of how full you feel, there’s always room for sweets. The lemon cake was definitely my favorite. It had a tart, lemony flavor with a heaping side of blueberry sauce. The upside peach pie was literally upside down with the crust on the bottom and fruit on top. Regardless of whether it’s right side up or upside down, the taste was still the same and I cleared this dessert! Aside from these heavenly dishes, the service was phenomenal. From my friendly welcome into the restaurant by Host Garret and being promptly served by Marcos, Muquit and Freddy, I’ll definitely be back to try their other tasty dishes! #marksoffmadison #wedgesalad #lasagnedellanonna #lasagna #chickenparmesan #lemoniceboxcake #lemoncake #peachupsidedowncake #peac

Had the most wonderful experience here at Marks! First, the service is FANTASTIC! Think the most classic old fashioned hospitality with such warmth and grace. Aggie our server was a hoot!! She has been serving in NYC for forever and charmed us with her stories and table side presentation of cocktails. If you don’t know Aggie, you need to know her! The food was fabulous and so fresh and tasty! The portions were massive, everything was so flavorful and perfect!!

I got this tip from a podcast I listened to, and I really wanted to try the famous lasagna. The place is very nice, and the lasagna is truly something special. I dare say it was the best lasagna I’ve ever had in my life. The bread served as a starter and the pizza were also excellent. Every time I'm in New York, I'll make a reservation at this restaurant and recommend it to everyone.

My son and I had a fantastic lunch at Marks. The calamari is one of the best tastes I’ve ever had. The salmon on sautéed spinach which we split was also amazing. The wine list is affordable & the dining room has comfortable seating. Thank you all so very much. Fun menu Mark S. Cheers !

I first came across this place while browsing on social media and saw a video of Mark’s famous Lasagna Della Nonna. When we walked in the door, Mark was there to welcome us in. My expectations were blown out of the water! The service was great, the atmosphere in the restaurant is lively yet romantic and family friendly. Everything we tried on the menu was excellent. Chezza Outta Nowhere

If you’re going for that dang lasagna, it’s honestly just ok. The lack of salt didn’t bring out all the flavors that are clearly in the dish. I’d go back to try something else. It seems like since the social media buzz and delivery apps the kitchen is absolutely swamped and a big batch dish like lasagna could certainly suffer the demand. Beautiful and i ate it and the crispy edges were such a yummy possibility of what the whole dish could taste like. But it just did not have enough salt to actually taste it. And i am not a heavy handed salt person or a smoker. Just to put that out there. Everyone else that sat at the bar also had lasagna, so i could tell that social media was bringing people there for that and perhaps the dish suffers a bit because of it.

We saw the lasagna Della Nonna on a reel on Facebook and we made a reservation at Mark's off Madison! We ordered: -the lasagna: was okay - I had better -the brisket: was tender -tuna tartare; was good -pizza: was good. Thin and sauce is good, -salad: not much flavor Staff is friendly and fast but didn’t smile much. They seemed overwhelmed. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here.

You can’t beat the location and the abundance of outdoor space at this upscale restaurant masquerading as a dinette. Everything about the menu telegraphs classic diner cuisine but there is certainly an extra effort place on the quality and presentation. The dining room has a nice array of tables and the room is relatively bright from the large windows facing the street. The staff range from a host who is too bored to acknowledge your presence to an overly enthusiastic waitress that may have spent time on Broadway. Everyone in between is clearly making this machine run. I only had a burger and it was surprisingly good as any $28 burger should be. It came perfect temperature with a grilled bun and a heaping portion of fried red onions which were really quite good. The oversized fries were nice and more than I could eat. All in all this is likely a place to sit outside and enjoy a Friday lunch with colleagues and possibly have a glass of wine or two and expense it.

M
Miral Pandya

Classic american diner food made better! Pleasant place right next to Madison Park with a variety of options (american, italian, etc). We went for lunch and liked the fries a lot! The “margarita” pizza was good (especially the base and crust) but a bit too greasy and cheesy to be classic margarita! They daily in house baked small bite desserts are really nice and the staff is friendly and professional!

Not cheap but serving size was also huge. My friend's pastrami sandwich was so good I regretted ordering my white fish platter, which wasn't bad either. Coffee, sadly, tasted like dish water (and did it cost $8?).

A great little spot that has a decent brunch menu. Cocktails were delicious. Went to try the lasagna, because it is a different style. I ate the whole thing lol. The vodka and pesto sauces were my favorite part of the lasagna. Huge noodles and minced style beef were also a nice touch.

Went here with a strong desire for a chicken parmigiana hero. Thanks IG and their overlords. I settled in here and decided my honored guest and I would split the lasagna and the chicken parnasiana with rigatoni. Bread came early, that was a pleasant surprise because this place is a bakery and they aren’t playing around. Bread was solid. Lasagna was as long amazing. So good I almost send my guest home so I could have her half. But being the gentleman I am, I decided to let her stay. We killed lasagna, and I swear I saw the image of Christ form below. Jk. But it was really good. Next my guest could barely go on, but the chicken parm was coming. Also solid, though it’s hard to follow up such a great lasagna. Somewhere in the midst, I ended up having fries. And these were awesome. Screw you McDonalds. Stick to fast food. The old fashioned’s, on point. I was to go watch a Van Damme movie. (screw you if you don’t get it).

I tried the INFAMOUS lasagna, and it was absolutely DIVINE. It's definitely worth the hype. The serving portion is huge (I needed a to-go box), and the flavors are bold and rich. I will definitely go back and order it again. Except next time, I'll split the lasagna with a friend so I can try one of the pizzas. Yum!

Food was amazing! I had the lobster and shrimp pasta, huge chunks of lobster in it. Perfectly flavored, it was just fantastic… I had seen a video on this pasta as one of the top fives in New York and I have to agree. The chef even came out and spoke to me for a bit which was pretty cool.

The lobster pasta is THE best pasta I’ve ever had. I keep thinking of it! The lasagna dish I would say is overhyped. But the portions were well worth it. Left with a full stomach!

A

Honestly the other dishes were average. The lasagna is the ONLY thing you should get. It was creamy rich, the layers of meat were flavourful and generously portioned The burger was mid, the meat needed to be more juicy, and the buns need to be softer. They used the wrong buns. The fried onions though were quite crispy and unique. Pigs in blankets, 28 dollars for 7 measly sausage rolls? That honestly is an utter embarrassment. They claim to use wagyu but honestly not believable Overall food is average but I can agree that that is the best lasagna I’ve had in nyc

This place is good for a large group, we have a group of 8 they put us in a 3 tables have two people sit at the end. The service was fast at the beginning then our waiter got busy took a while to get drinks refill. But overall drinks come out fast and the food also fast only problem is that they only serve main after pizza and pasta, and we ordered pizza after the pasta thought we didn’t have enough food. But ended up everyone was full then three main courses came out, wish the waiter could remind us we have three more dishes coming out while we ordered pizza. All the food are delicious. The best is the Fettuccine with seafood. Personally I love seafood and they make it really well. The crab cake is also very good portion with big lumps of crab meat. The whole table loved the Lasagne, it was definitely the star of the night, it’s also their signature. Tuna tartare was underwhelming, it could use a little sauce or some sort, it’s very bland. Calamari is very deep fried , it’s a bit oily to the taste

Came here for the lasagna and have to say that it was excellent - it really hits the spot and we were able to share between 2 people. The bagel and spreads assortment was good. The bread basket was delicious too. You can tell it was fresh but I would not go as far as to say they’re one of the best in the city for bagels. The chicken salad was not my favorite and wouldn’t recommend it.

Nice spot with a calm, relaxed vibe—especially on the weekends. The Belgian waffles had a good texture and were almost as sticky as the real ones in Belgium. The truffle fries were good too. They had a unique texture which I liked. Would definitely recommend for brunch.

Been here a few times for brunch outside, good option if you are dining with dogs. Brunch is consistently solid and the portions are hearty. French toast is very nice and I enjoyed the burger. The fries are tasty too,

Was in the mood for Italian and ended up at Mark’s Off Madison. Overall, it wasn’t bad. The eggplant parm wasn’t my favorite, but the lasagna was definitely solid and the standout of the meal. Not sure it quite lives up to all the hype I’ve seen, but for a midweek dinner out, it was perfectly decent.

So the food was fantastic! Restaurant week tasting menu was divine! Our server was ok but not super attentive or friendly for that matter but she did do ok. The bus people and food runners were top notch. They had plate cleaned off the table and waters filled amazingly fast. We would totally come here again on our next visit. My only complaint was the fixtures and bottles on display were very dusty and you could see the dust floating in the air when someone walked by them.

I stopped by to try the legendary lasagna, but it didn’t live up to the hype!

Beautiful place, good food. I went to try their infamous lasagna, and it was pretty good! Their pizza was as well. Our server was good, but the check-in experience was a bit lackluster, tbh, especially since it wasn't really busy.

Good dining experience. Great service, upscale & quiet atmosphere with intimate vibe. I came here with a few friends recently and we had an enjoyable dinner. Attentive service, delicious dishes with nice presentations. Very appetizing Zucchini Chips. I love my Roasted Salmon, very flavorful and was prepared just right! The Orecchiette and Bitter Green with Sausage was very tasty as well.

Mark's Off Madison was quiet midday during lunch after 1 pm. Tables were plentiful inside and outdoors. The restaurant is big but not too big. You get views into finishing stations in the kitchen where staff may be seen plating entrées. The bar is at the entrance and a decent size unless it is after work and crowded. Pricing is Manhattan typical. For lunch the Hen of the Woods salad was great and cost about $26. Adding the Belgian truffle fries made the combo hardier. Those were $16 and fresh for sure. Worth trying for the table. Service was decent and it made sense for the lack of traffic that time of day. I would return to eat again another day and try the signature lasagna.

This is a nice American restaurant for local people. Who enjoy food in generous portions. I did order with my pals few dishes to share. Chevice was great, calamari fries were amazing. Fries is a must here, crispy outside and smoothly soft inside. Delivered to your table hot! Perfect. They have a bakery section here that is amazing and makes great bread. Service was adequate. People were very friendly.

Fun place I’ve wanted to try for awhile. Fred’s at Barney’s was my spot but Mark’s didn’t quite hit it. The white pizza was good and my salad dressing was delicious and the black and white was ok. My friends omelette was good and the bagels are delicious. Service was a bit rushed but we were at the end of Brunch. Packed house. I’ll give it another try for lunch.

Visited a popular Italian restaurant in Madison Park called Mark’s Off Madison. It was packed, so I was glad I made a reservation in advance. Their lasagna is the star of the menu, though reviews were mixed—some loved it, others thought it was just okay. Personally, I found it tasty but not mind-blowing. The other dishes I tried were just average. The fries were great, though—probably because they were served hot. Ended the meal with tiramisu, but it seemed partially frozen and not fully thawed. However, the cocktails and ambiance made up for it. 👍🏻

The welcome team was friendly and quick to seat us at our table, the food was incredibly delicious and the atmosphere was very pleasant. My only complaint is the team of servers, they took a long time to bring our orders, we had to call them all the time to verify what we ordered and we noticed that in the end they forgot to put the order on the computer since we were sitting near the kitchen.

Lasagna was way overhyped on Youtube. Ravioli was okay. Service was okay. Place could use a little spring cleaning.

I've heard great things about the lasagna so I had to try it. It was good, but nothing special. Needed more salt and definitely a lot more acid. Expensive too. And the staff didn't even try an attempt at a smile. I've had more welcoming treatment at random pizza places. Although the fresh sourdough bread I got in advance was really good.

Place is ok for a quick drink and pizza. However when we entered the restaurant it was empty inside. There were only 2 guys sitting outside. We felt unwelcome as the guy inside was rude. But later the servers outside were better. Unlikely to go there again. And definitely not with a client.

$43 for lasagna with little wow factor. Took a very expensive uber only to find that they were closed for a private event on a Saturday night. Whomever is answering the phone? Get someone else. Curt/Rude - while I understand it was a private event, I just wanted to place an order to go. Was rudely told to make an order on one of the apps and left to stand in the cold to wait. THEN I go back to my hotel…. No utensils. How did they expect me to eat it????

Great spot for a date or bday celebration. But nothing special about it. The lasagna is apparently good. Haven’t tried I can’t comment on it. The bread and Belgian fries were really good.

Tried the lasagna, and it was pretty middle of the road for what you got. The wedge salad was very expensive and just fair. Service was spotty despite there being over a dozen wait staff just lounging around- I had to ask twice for drink refills. Definitely won’t go out of my way to go back.

Fast service but the food was mediocre. The Roman salad was not bad, I liked that they split it for us on a place to share. The chicken parm was decent but the chicken wasn’t crispy and overall very heavy but larger servings. Good place for patio dining in nice weather though.

Food presentation would be 10 stars, but the actual food was bland. I was underwhelmed. However, the Shrimp starter was delicious! Unfortunately, the beans served with it was also bland. The potential is definitely there if they just add seasoning ~ salt & pepper at the very least. Finally, I like my food served hot especially if I’m made to wait. I had the famous lasagna, and my husband had the Roast Beef (French Dip) sandwich. He agreed everything was bland. We added salt & pepper, but seasonings have to be cooked into the food to be flavorful…Oh! The bread was amazing!!!

The food is spectacular! We went because we saw the lasagna go viral on social media, but we were disappointed with the service. We reserved a table in advance and when we arrived we felt like we weren't welcome. The waiter wasn't friendly, I asked for suggestions of what he would recommend and he simply said that we were the ones who had to choose. The steak was incredibly tender and tasty, and the lasagna was truly wonderful. I hope to have a different experience next time.

I’ve been to this restaurant a few times. The most recent time was an early Saturday night dinner with friends before a movie. Every time I have been here the food is fine. The menu is all over the place. The host was very cold and weird. Our server was lovely. The food is very expensive. In all, it is mediocre at best. I would not come back here on my own accord, but I wouldn’t object if someone else wanted to dine here.

Marks has been a bucket list place for a while now and I’m glad I came. The ambiance is super warm and inviting. We ordered quite a few items started off with the truffle fries (must get), pepperoni pizza, lasagna, lava cake and black & white cookie. Cons - the pizza was just flat. It was served on two different plates cut in slices of three (I think it’s because our table was small so difficult to have a whole pie) this made the crust very soggy. The quality of ingredients was high with great cheese, sauce and pepperoni, but the soggy crust made it extremely floppy. - the service was questionable, despite a number of waiters and servers we only got our water filled once and I peaked our waiter sneaking some food in the back instead of being attentive to us and getting the check Pros - the Lasagna lived up to all hype, super meaty and the sheets of pasta were quickly superbly. Each bite had the perfect ratio of sauce, meat and cheese. - the fries were immaculate. Super thick, crunchy and had a soft interior. The three sauces on the side made each bite a fun different adventure. - the bread basket was amazing super fresh and flavorful. My buddy nearly devoured the entire dish.

This is a nice place for a sit down meal with family and friends. Bagels 🥯, Salads 🥗, and Sandwiches 🥪 are good. The Lasagna is the star ⭐️. French fries 🍟 are thick cut and look great, but need more seasoning 🧂. Pastrami sandwich 🥪 looks good but also was a little bland. Coffee cake was a little stale. Reservations are a must. No walk ins on Sunday . Madison Avenue prices so bring your credit cards 💳. Staff is nice and does not rush you. Plenty of outdoor seating. Give it a try if you’re in the area.

At first glance it seems nice, however, the food is terribly under seasoned, especially that ‘infamous’ lasagna, it was not good, at all. The table bread is bad and the service initially was fine, however, as soon as other type of guests started being seated suddenly we were ignored. So much so that, our bread fell on the floor and we are still waiting for our waiter who walked passed several times to even address that. Terrible terrible service and the food being lack luster did not help at all. Go at your own risk ⚠️

Disappointing experience overall. I ordered the Belgian waffles from the brunch menu, and while they were edible, the waffle itself was dense and heavy. If you prefer waffles that are crisp on the outside and fluffy inside, this isn’t the one for you. At $30, it was far from worth the price. The service was also shockingly poor. I wouldn’t go back, and I wouldn’t suggest it to friends.

I really wanted to like Marks Off Madison, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start. The host with the glasses never greeted us, didn’t smile, and made us feel completely unwelcome. His pretentious attitude set a weird tone for the evening and honestly tainted the entire experience. The food itself was… fine. Just average. Nothing memorable and certainly not enough to make up for the awkward energy at the front of house. Service matters just as much as what’s on the plate, and when the welcome is that cold, it’s hard to enjoy anything that comes after. Not somewhere I’d return to anytime soon.

This place used to be great and had one of the better turkey clubs in the city. Now it feels like an airport restaurant. Bread plate was nice but the butter nobbed off a block and tossed on a wet plate with zero care whatsoever. I waited for 45 minutes for the $29 club. Came out dry, too toasted so it was rough to actually eat, minimal lettuce, tomato, mayo all the things that make a club a club. I was told they ran out of bread? Tables were dirty, check sleeve was legitimately falling apart. But they do have a bunch of t-shirts and hats pinned up to the walls so you can deck yourself out in merch. Zero concession for the wait. Won't be back.

Writing this review is challenging because I've been a loyal customer at Marks off Madison for years. Chef Strausman's menus, first admired during his tenure at Freds at Barneys, had made me a regular—especially for their takeout. The straightforward, reliable dishes had consistently delighted me, and my expectations were buoyed by recent accolades from the New York Times. However, my latest visit to celebrate a friend's birthday was markedly disappointing. Despite arriving 15 minutes early for our reservation and checking in with the hostess, we faced difficulties right from the start. I secured a spot at the bar to wait for my three guests, who joined at 8 PM. I promptly notified the hostess, yet after 20 minutes, we were still not seated, with no communication or apology for the delay. At 8:30 PM, upon inquiring about our table, the hostess, displaying a lack of professionalism and empathy, dismissively told me to speak with the manager. The interaction with the manager was equally disheartening. He was surly and hostile, showing no concern for our situation. With no table in sight and feeling undervalued, we decided to leave at 8:30 PM, noting a line of equally frustrated customers. Marks off Madison is not managing its new fame well, neglecting the service standards that once defined them. Given this experience, I suggest patrons reconsider visiting Mark's until they can effectively manage the front of house.

Came for the famous lasagne, and it was very average. My partner got the hanger steak medium rare. She said the steak came out cold so I took a bite, and it was inedible, I had to spit it out. It was harder to chew than a well done steak. She sent half of the steak back without a replacement. The fries tasted like fast food, very cold and dry. We left a lot of our food, we got sent two cookies at the end and I had one small bite and left that too. Everything was off except for the baked clams. I was so excited to finally visit but it was a very underwhelming experience.

I listened to the online hype around the lasagne, we ordered it along with the chicken parm. The pasta that came with the parm was cold and undercooked. The lasagne was warm in parts and cold in others, the temperature of the food was really bad through both dishes. The atmosphere of the restaurant was really strange. Would not recommend.

Terrible experience from the moment I walked in. The host—who looks like Ted Danson—was rude, grumpy, and gave off a racist attitude that completely tainted the meal. If you read other reviews, you’ll notice a pattern: if you’re a person of color, you’re likely to be seated in the worst part of the restaurant. That was definitely the case for us. The food was mid at best and absolutely not worth the poor treatment. Won’t be coming back.

If we could rate no stars we would. Called to make reservations and told them for 3pm (not knowing the kitchen closes at 3pm) THE OWNER who took the call then tells us be there at 2:45pm and we said okay. We drove all the way from Staten Island through tolls had trouble finding parking because it is Manhattan and we walked in at 3pm for the owner to then tells us “we are closed” The attitude as a owner that he gave us was beyond ridiculous. Nasty attitude the way he talked to us. After we had told him he should have told us from the very beginning over the phone the kitchen closes at 3pm. We will NEVER EVER come here. Horrible experience, very rude owner, disgusting how you treat and talk to new customers

Did not like the food at all the lasagna was disgusting. I was so excited to come here cause I heard really good things about this place. I guess you have to be a non-Italian to enjoy it. The risotto looked like it was leftovers for someone else’s plate that they gave me, Just Gross I didn’t eat it. They sent me at a table where there was a lot of traffic and everyone that went by me kicked my chair. It was just the wrong chair for that table was not a good experience at all. The waitress was nice enough to take the lasagna Off the bill And gave us two desserts for free, but honestly, It didn’t change the experience. I will never come back here again

Food was not good. We got the Devour Chicken Parm and the Bolognese and didn't finish either. Don't believe the Instagram hype! There are MUCH better Italian restaurants all over NYC.

maître d' was rude and arrogant and rude. Tried to seat us at the worst possible table when the place was pretty much empty. (See photo) Waiter was nice but very slow. Food was mediocre. $27 French toast was burnt on the outside but undercooked on the inside. Bacon was undercooked. No one checked in after food arrived. Never got more coffee. Never going back. Do not recommend. Go to The Smith. Much better service and food.
