Opinions de Atoboy New York
From the sea urchin with egg and nori to the wagyu ribs and Spanish mackerel, we enjoyed every course and the attentive service. This was our second time and it was every bit as good as the first. The fried chicken strikes me as more of a tempura, twice fried, with two dipping sauces and tasty banchan. We really liked the fluke as well and the squid stuffed with shrimp. We highly recommend Atoboy.
Went on 2025-02-14. It was valentine set menu. Uni egg custard was absolutely delicious. Squid and octopus were both really well executed and the caviar pairing was a great idea. Was a bit skeptical about the fried chicken at first, but I’m glad we ordered it. It was marinated with pineapples and double fried. Couldn’t really taste the pineapples but it does have a subtle refreshing taste to it. Dipping sauce was great. Love that they have a good variety of seasonal dishes. Overall 5 stars!
Being that this is the sister restaurant of our absolute favorite, Atomix we had to try it. For the price point, $75 for a 5 course tasting menu, it’s worth every penny! Highly recommend it!
It comes as little surprise that Atoboy, the younger and more casual sister to Atomix, is absolutely sensational. We visited as a group of four, which worked out perfectly for the prix-fixe menu since it allowed us to try every single thing offered. Every dish was strong and incredibly unique, but despite all the beautiful fish and meat we had, it was surprisingly the butternut squash that stole the show. The easiest way to describe the food is fine dining for a casual crowd; everything is "sophisticated" in the sense that it has real depth and complexity, which we absolutely loved. The environment is minimalist and trendy, and the service hits that perfect balance assertive and friendly without being "down your throat." Atoboy is definitely a restaurant for foodies. That said, consider this a heads-up: this is not the place for a picky or fussy eater. But if you're looking for an adventurous and unique meal, this place absolutely hits!
Every course was excellent! I came with my wife and we shared, so we got to try two different dishes for each course. The uni dish was incredible. The squid dish is very special. Both entrees are equally good. We paid for the fried chicken. The portion is small but it was piping hot and melts in your mouth. It’s worth the try. If I had to pick my favorites: sea urchin, squid, fried chicken, and the steamed rice that came with the entrees.
Great prix fixe menu; with a bunch of add-ons! Flavors are on point. Expect smaller portions. Sharing is possible, but expect only few bites per person. Come here to spark the taste buds in your mouth, not to get your stomach stuffed. The most memorial dishes here are the uni starter, fluke, sweet shrimp, cod, and fried chicken (extra $28, and shareable). The only dish that we thought was meh was the tuna. Special shout out to the nori rice - amazing flavors! Recommended.
Atoboy was surprisingly awesome restaurant. The service was very professional and super friendly and quiet knowledgeable. The interior was minimalistic, simple, and elegant. The restaurant definitely let you focus on the food what was being served and that you eat. The foods were delicious and offered a wide variety of different assortments for the prefixes. My favorite was the ribs, squid, and the squash with cheese fondue. Also the addition of Fried chicken is a must! I recommend going in a pair of 3 because then you can get all of the items on the menu and share which I did with 2 others. Definitely go if you have not been here, it’s a great place and food!
Had an absolutely phenomenal experience at Atoboy! Every dish was bursting with flavor and presented so beautifully—it was truly a feast for both the eyes and the palate. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations that made the whole dining experience even better. Honestly, the food was so good, I completely forgot to take a picture of one of the dishes because I was too busy enjoying it. That alone says everything! Highly recommend this spot—whether you're a local or visiting, it's a must-try.
Elevated and eloquent, only the start of how good this place is. The service is excellent, atmosphere upscale, and most importantly the food is excellent quality and tasty. The dishes are fresh and crafted with impeccable attention details. Between the freshness of the ingredients, playing of textures and flavors, and quality of the overall dishes, I believe this place earns a big 10/10 would recommend to anyone who wants good food to celebrate any occasion... including wanting the BEST fried chicken I've had in a long time. It's truly amazing, truly exquisite. Get it. And go here.
This place feels exactly like what I’d imagine a New York version of Korean cuisine to be. Every single dish was incredibly delicious—Chef Park Jung Hyun is truly on another level. The atmosphere struck the perfect balance of being relaxed yet refined, and the course menu was thoughtfully curated with just the right number of options. The food was so good, I completely forgot to take photos except for the starters and dessert. They allowed wine corkage, so I brought one of my most cherished bottles—Hundred Acre. It was such a joyful and memorable experience.
Atoboy ! From the proud owners of atomix and naro (which I need to go to now after coming here) absolutely amazing. We had nothing better to do and came an hour early. Luckily, they were able to seat us at 5 rather than 6 and I feel like even if you didn’t have a reservation for 5pm on a Friday night, you could have come as a walk in. Regardless ! Atmosphere is great, all the staff was so kind and so helpful and you could tell they quite enjoyed their time there and were so knowledgeable on the dishes. If you chose something they liked, they’d comment on it. We ordered different dishes each so that we could try a little of each — best tip was to get the stuffed squid and to keep the plate for the fried chicken later. Fried chicken wasn’t part of the prixfixe menu, it was an add on but it was a great add on to have. Tbh, I don’t think we would have left the restaurant full without the add on but even without it, each thing we ate was 10/10. Can’t wait to try atomix and naro next !
The food was delicious, but so overpriced. Korean food is already expensive, this was over the top.
Went on Oct 15th. The sweet potato ice cream was absolutely fantastic and my favorite dessert of the year. And I eat a lot of dessert. It tasted so sweet potato-y, and had charred smokey little crumbles and a date caramel sauce that evoked the taste of a nice fire roasted sweet potato. If I could just buy this dessert, I would every week. I went with a friend, so we tried 2 prie fixe orders. The sea urchin egg jjim was also great. The rest were okay or not great for the price. We had the bluefin tuna, the fluke, the squid, sweet shrimp, suyuk, pork galbi and fried chicken.
This is a decent 4 Star Pl. my issue really was portion size. Everything was very expensive. It felt like and you get tiny plates. I remember liking everything I had. I were thinking the environment is cute. They even of this thing where they had a wine maker in the building will come over and talk to you about wine which I can see how people would love however I don’t love talking about wine so I’m not there person for them and I also wish there was hard liquor To be honest, I really don’t have much to say about this restaurant because it’s been pretty forgettable in the restaurants that I’ve had in New York City The most memorable part about this place for me was it was a birthday dinner which I love my friends for taking me thank you but it’s also similarly named to a bar called attaboy. So one of the people in my group went to the wrong place when coming to this restaurant, which is funny but doesn’t really have anything to do with the restaurant.
Atoboy delivers an exceptional modern Korean dining experience that feels thoughtful, refined, and deeply satisfying. The prix fixe format allows each dish to shine, with courses that balance comfort and creativity while highlighting bold, clean flavors. Definitely come with friends to try everything on the menu! Every plate is beautifully executed--layered, precise, and never overcomplicated. The progression of the meal feels intentional, keeping you engaged from start to finish, while showcasing both traditional Korean elements and contemporary techniques. The space is warm and minimalist, and the service is polished yet relaxed, making the experience feel special without being intimidating. It's the kind of restaurant that reminds you how powerful restraint and balance can be when done well. A standout choice for a memorable night out in New York and a must-visit for anyone interested in modern Korean cuisine done right.
Interesting upscale reinvention of modern Korean food. I went here with a friend for a birthday and it was definitely an interesting experience. The (only) option is the prix-fixe menu, which is $75 per person. This isn't so bad for a higher end restaurant in the city, but some of the dishes have a small upcharge and dessert is not included. We got to try a decent amount of the dishes since we each ordered a different option from each "category" and overall the food was clearly high quality and well made. I felt that the appetizers and "amuse bouche" were more interesting than the entrees. Favorites included the bluefin tuna, the sweet shrimp, and the sea urchin, which was very fresh. I personally felt like the squid was interesting but not good. For lack of a better of way of describing it, it tasted like a fancy hot dog. Overpowering slightly sweet smoky flavor, I could not taste any squid at all. The main dishes we got, the cod and the pork galbi, were good but not anything really out of the ordinary. The fried chicken, which comes at a hefty supplement, is very good though. The portion is a healthy size, getting one order for a group or two or three is enough. It reminded me more of Japanese fried chicken (karaage) than traditional Korean fried chicken as the "breading" was very light and not quite as heavy which I liked. We also shared their signature dessert, the "sujeonggwa granita" which was very good. Why am I giving it a 4/5? The food was pretty good but I didn't really feel like it was worth the price. It ended up being a little over $300 total for two people, with one drink per person. The appetizers and the dessert were probably the most interesting parts of the meal. The other thing I didn't like is that until very recently they were a "gratuity included" restaurant but this has changed as of this month. This is essentially a "stealth" increase of 20% on all of the prices as that is a pretty standard tip at a place like this. And the last thing is a small thing, but the utensils were dirty. Some literally had fingerprints on them. I wouldn't mind at a cheaper restaurant at all but come on guys - for how... strongly priced the meals are here, I don't think clean silverware is an unreasonable expectation?
First time here, I came with excitement and high expectations. The service was great, the drinks were great, and the food was good (though personally not amazing). However, there were some issues with the bill. Items that were supposed to be on the house were charged on the first check, and on the second check one item was priced higher than what was listed on the menu. We ended up needing a third check, which was a bit disappointing, and the dining experience kind of went downhill during that process. So… will i visit again?.. honestly I don’t know, probably not at the moment. I think I would prefer going to Moono, C as in Charlie or other similar restaurants
Been here multiple times (before the pandemic) and visited yesterday. 1. “Four course” prix fixe is misleading. It’s more like one amuse-bouche with three course meal plus pay extra for a fried chicken dish (cause set menu is too small) and pay extra for your dessert. 2. Oxtail dish was just terrible. Again the dish name was misleading, it should be called cilantro soup with oxtail flavors. (Guess which one in the pics is this dish!) 3. Given most people will spend $150-$200 per person, having a coat check would be nice. Also the industrial style interior is not working. Recommend having more comfortable chairs and tables. 4. The banchan that comes with the main course is disappointing. They served apple kimchi, which is fine but I would expect at least cabbage kimchi at the minimum. Not everything needs to be different or “creative”. The rice was very good. 5. Lastly the check says the “service is included” but when I asked to clarify, I got a confusing message so I tipped another 20%. If service is truly included, just make it super clear. You don’t want your guests to feel misguided into tipping extra.
I had been here a while back and always looked forward to going back but I feel like it has really gone downhill. There were a few decent dishes but very disappointing for what you pay . We paid extra for oxtail and tuna and the pieces were so small and thin we were literally looking for it in the sauce. Tuna was chopped up and low quality. Pickled side dishes were flavourless and soggy. Would not go back :(
We chose Atoboy for a special occasion, but it turned out to be a mistake. The kimchi was far too sour and unpleasant. Even after asking for a replacement, it tasted exactly the same, which makes me think there’s an issue with their kimchi itself. One of the dishes, “Jimmy,” was especially shocking—it came out with nothing but two large fried peppers on the plate. The overall food quality felt very low, the presentation lacked care, and the staff did not seem professional. Definitely not the experience we were hoping for on such an important day.
