The bagel was very good! I had one with smoked salmon and the salmon tasted very fresh. It was a bit expensive but, I was full after one so definitely worth it. The location right near Central Park is also nice. But the inside of the store was a bit lackluster with no real seating options. They had a lot of bagels to choose from and the service was also friendly!

we just left this modern location and feel so positively that i’m immediately writing a review lol. every aspect was great. off the bat- as someone with celiac & also nut allergies this place gave complete peace of mind. totally gluten and nut free! and despite that, the food was still amazing. my boyfriend who is not celiac said the food tasted almost identical to not gluten free food. plus aside from that this location itself was great. beautiful, clean and spacious. plus the staff at this location were awesome. these are things we believe the other locations lack so if choosing between which to go to- definitely come here!!

The staff is incredibly friendly and always use your name adding to the experience. It is amazing to enjoy such well crafted gluten-free bagels. The spreads and toppings are fresh and delicious. This place is a must-visit for anyone who loves fresh baked goods.

I’ve found another strong addition to my ongoing NYC bagel research. They offer a variety of hot sandwiches, open-faced bagels, and baked goods. Their bagels are incredibly fluffy. A major bonus: everything is gluten-free, with easy customization for dairy-free and vegan diets. B even if you’re not gluten- or dairy-free, this place is still amazing. The shop was packed on a weekend, but the line moved quickly, and we got our orders within 10 minutes. Their uptown locations are conveniently close to museums, galleries, and Central Park. ＊Farmer’s Garden $13.5 An open-faced bagel with heirloom tomato, cucumber, crispy capers, basil and dill. I chose a sesame bagel with chive cream cheese, which paired perfectly with a light drizzle of olive oil. It was super refreshing. Compared to the tomato bagel at Apollo Bagels, which I also loved for its crispy sourdough base, this one was much fluffier. Both are great in their own way, but this version felt lighter and juicier. ＊G’Day Mate $10.5 ＊The Big Show $11.5 The G’Day Mate was drizzled with harissa aioli which I really liked the spicy kick, while The Big Show was their vegan take on a classic SEC, made with vegan sausage. The portions were generous. The bagels were definitely filling, but not overwhelmingly massive like some other NYC bagels. We often find NY bagels a bit too big for one sitting.

I cane to NYC specifically to finally try Modern bread & bagel 😍 AND WOW! It was so nice to get food with a line up, I know not something you think one would rave about lol but having celiac and seeing a crowd of people in line to enjoy food who are there for the simple love of good food whether they have celiac or not made me happy and I was able to feel “ normal “ again. The staff are very sweet. Lucy ( sweetest and kindest ) made me the absolute BEST iced coffee I had ever had. I could never get something like a French toast iced coffee back at home 😭 and the babka omgosh where to I begin other than describe it in emojis 🤤🤯🥹🥰!!!

I highly recommend this place! My go to spot for Gluten Free Bagels and pastries! Their bagels are very tasty!! Their also have gluten free bread and other tasty pastries. I also love their truffle chips. In the evening they have tasty dinner options. I highly recommend to try. My Verdicts: Go Here and Try!

OMG, if you had blind tasted me I never would have known these bagels were GF! Fantastic flavors and options, from bagels to sandwiches, salads to deserts. Portions are large, good for sharing if you’re a light eater.

First NYC Bagel we tried and it was pretty good! The lox bagel with cream cheese and guacamole tasted fresh and delicious. The bagel with tofu was alright, skip that. The glazed donut was better than expected! Line and wait was long because it was packed in there, overall it was a great experience!

My experience ordering from Modern Bread and Bagel was truly something special! From the moment I called with questions about shipping and their products, Brandon went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. He took such great care of my order, followed up with updates, and made the entire process so easy and personal. When my package arrived, I could hardly contain my excitement — I haven't seen this many gluten-free goodies since being diagnosed with celiac disease years ago! Thanks to Modern Bread and Bagel, my freezer is now stocked with delicious options like bagels, baked goods, and sandwich bread. I am beyond grateful. My absolute favorite item is the cinnamon raisin bagels — I hadn’t had a real bagel in almost two years, and when I finally enjoyed one with cream cheese (picture attached!), I actually cried tears of joy. Food has such a powerful way of bringing back a sense of normalcy, and even my friends who don't have to eat gluten-free say these bagels taste better than traditional ones! Thank you Brandon, and thank you Modern Bread and Bagel!!! The celiac community is so grateful for the love and care you put into your products. The most incredible gluten free baked goods! Worth the hype! Cinnamon bun is SWEET (had chunks of sugar still in it) but I don’t think you order this for nuance. Bagel sandwich was DEVOURED so quickly but what I remember was heaven. They also have a few reasonably priced pre-packaged items which is wonderful.

Modern Bread and Bagel was such a great find! It’s one of those places that gets recommended over and over, and now I see why. The entire menu is gluten-free, which is amazing, but honestly, even if you’re not gluten-free, this spot is worth a visit. We ordered the smoked salmon bagel with chive cream cheese and a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich, and both were so good. The smoked salmon bagel was fresh and flavorful, and the cream cheese had just the right amount of chive to make it perfect. The bacon, egg, and cheese? Classic and comforting—exactly what you want from a breakfast bagel. We also got to try a bite of a friend’s donut, and wow, it was delicious. I could barely have guessed it was gluten-free. What really made the experience, though, was the vibe. The staff were so friendly and welcoming—it felt like they were genuinely happy to be there and make sure you had a great experience. If you’re ever in the area, you have to check this place out. Whether you’re gluten-free or not, it’s worth the visit for the bagels, the pastries, and just the overall vibe of the place.

Being gluten free, a good bagel is hard to come across, so when we came to visit NYC I new this place was a must. By far the best bagels I have ever had (pre GF included). You would never be able to tell that these are gluten free. They are fluffy, flavourful, and the options are endless. Worst bagel I’ve ever had. Cream cheese is everywhere but on the bagel, mostly on the paper. Bagel itself is too dense. Staff is insanely rude. Do yourself a favor and skip this place so you aren’t extremely disappointed. And unlike every other place, the ordering is backwards and there are no signs to specify where to line up, where to order, and staff will ignore you. And the bagel being almost $8 is the real insult. Should have walked out.

I really don’t understand the hype around this place. For the price, the bagel quality was seriously disappointing dry and tough and barley any cream cheese (you can see it in my photo). Customer service was just as bad. I waited 15 minutes for a cold brew, only to find the staff standing around doing nothing. Had to ask them to finally get it. Gross bagels, slow service, and definitely not worth it when there are so many better bagel spots in the city. Skip this one.
