Opinions de Olde City New York
Their cheesesteaks are absolutely solid. Amazing bread that holds up well, no skimping on the cheese whiz. Wings were also delicious, I could have used a touch more spice!
I come here for the Eagles Games. The first game of season was amazing. My bartenders were Jacqueline, Alexis, and Hortenzia. Top notch service. As an Eagles fan, this is such a breath of fresh air. I recommend coming here for an Eagles game. GO BIRDS!!! Big shoutout to Jacqueline!! She’s amazing!!!
I strongly recommend this bar. Please you have to try the sandwiches. Good beer, good atmosphere and the service is really good. 5 ⭐️
I went to Olde City right when it opened and everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming. I loved Shorty’s so I was excited to hear that Olde City was coming! The food came out quickly and everything looked delicious. My husband ordered the classic cheese steak and I had the arugula salad with chicken cutlets…even their salad was AMAZING! My favorite part of our meal though were the French fries. I can’t wait to go back!
Was visiting NYC this past weekend and had a great experience ordering food from Olde City! The Italian fries and crispy chicken spicy honey sandwhich was sooooooo good. It was the right amount of spice with a little bit of sweetness! The seasoning on the Italian fries was also so delish. I would absolutely recommend Olde City! Can’t wait to stop in again on my next trip to the big apple!!!
Had a blast at the opening Eagles game at this place! The cheesesteaks are on point and they offer many other food and drink options including an extensive beer list and fancy cocktails. There are plenty of TV's to watch the games here. I had the cheesesteak with provolone, fried onions, cherry peppers, and garlic aioli ... with a bloody mary which was also great!
Delicious cheesesteaks, the bread is really something special. Drinks are good too. It can get loud when there is a game on but what to you expect. Good spot
Phenomenal cheesesteak and bacon whiz fries! Personal and quick service, small beer selection, but has most styles that you would would enjoy. Definite return visit next time we're in NYC.
A great experience. Easily the best cheesesteak sandwich I have eaten in my life. The fries are excellent, too. The bartender is very friendly. His name is listed on my receipt as “j c P”. He made us feel welcome.
Svetlana is an amazing bartender—super friendly, quick, and makes top-notch drinks. She creates a great vibe and really knows how to take care of her guests. Highly recommend!
I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Olde City Pub on Madison Ave in NYC, and it was an absolute blast! As an expert in local destinations, I can confidently say that this place is a must-visit for Eagles fans and anyone looking for a fantastic NFL Sunday experience. The atmosphere was electric, with Eagles fans filling the place to the brim. From the moment I stepped in, I could feel the excitement in the air. The staff were friendly and efficient, ensuring that we had a great time throughout the game. The food and drinks were top-notch, and I can't recommend their signature game day snacks enough. What really sets the Olde City Pub apart is the sense of community. It's not just a bar; it's a gathering place for fans to come together and cheer on their team. Whether you're a die-hard Eagles fan or just looking for a fun time on NFL Sunday, this place delivers. In summary, the Olde City Pub is a fantastic destination for Eagles fans and anyone who loves a lively sports bar atmosphere. With its great food, friendly staff, and an unbeatable game day vibe, it's a winning choice. I highly recommend this spot for some Philly fun on NFL Sundays!
Old City is a fantastic spot with fresh, delicious food and a great selection of beers! 🍻 The atmosphere is always inviting, and the bartender, Lana, truly makes the experience even better with her friendly and attentive service. Highly recommend stopping by for a great meal and drinks!
Pretty pumped they offer so many choices of cheese. They had me at mild OR sharp provolone. Too bad I was heading to work, would’ve loved a cold beer to wash it all down.
My partner and I love searching for authentic cheesesteaks and Olde City came through. The bartender was so kind and genuine and the food was killer. Highly recommend the black cherry sandwich and fries.
I ordered the garlic aioli cheesesteak and the roast pork to go. A 20 minute walk to Penn and they wrapped it so tight with such prestige that it was still super hot when I opened it up while waiting for the train. Garlic aioli cheesesteak was delicious. Packed with beef, the aioli wasn’t overpowering, just perfect. Roast pork with broccoli rabe was phenomenal as well. Only downside was they forgot the au jus. I did ask the bartender if it came with it and they said yes (they were both really nice and attentive btw). Would have been a great to give my pork buddy a lil swimmy swim. So am I gunna deduct a star because of that? Many people might. Not this guy. Both sandwiches were great, I’m not gunna cry over spilt au jus. Just writing this in case any one gets an order to go that they make sure they have everything. And I can’t forget about the bread. The bread was dynamite. Really elevated both sandwiches. Will definitely be back! 100% recommend
Two weary travellers walk into a bar… bar person says… Just kidding. No joke, this place was great! Nice service with a smile, good selection of beers on tap. Cheesesteak was great, wings also good but that cheesesteak was the winner of the day. They also had the fifa women’s World Cup playing. Great spot, would come back for another libation or a few.
This spot has me planning when to return. The place emphasizes comfort over formality. The food stands above others. Inviting, amiable, friendly, skilled. My next meal will feature different selections.
Visited here twice on a recent trip. Absolutely loved it! Such an authentic little place, food was fabulous- tried the cheesesteak and the wings - and the staff were amazing. If you fancy a little bit of authentic NYC this is your place
I’m from Philly and THIS CHEESESTEAK is crazy good!! They bring in the rolls from Philly, which makes a huge difference. The cheese is chopped into the steak so you get some in every bite. Good amount of meat. And don’t forget to add fried onions! The beer selection on tap is awesome with 10 beers and, my personal favorite, Delirium (on tap is so hard to find for this beer!). A hidden in plain sight gem in the neighborhood. Don’t miss it. Oh and the lunch special is great!! $16 for a soda and a cheesesteak. I upgraded to $19 version with the beer…don’t tell my boss.
I was craving a cheesesteak and saw this place, it was very good. While I was waiting I sat and had a beer. The bartender was very welcoming and I enjoyed my experience
Being a Philly native, this is definitely a bar that reminds me of home. Whenever I’m back in the city I’ll catch any game here gladly. Much love to the staff and amazing environment.
Everything was so great. We went with a 13 yo and a 7 yo (7 total people)on NYE @ 1:00. Quite but had the games on kinda atmosphere. Beyond friendly and accommodating. Little pricey IMO but honestly I'm just cheap, because the portions were enough to fill me and I'm a bigger appetite kinda guy. All in all 8/10 on the cheessteak scale. I'm kinda tough so that's very good
My friend and I are in the city for the weekend and wanted a drink during happy hour before the night. We stopped by this place right next to our hotel and was immediately greeted with great service and a fun atmosphere! The house margarita was so delicious and Svetlana was the best bartender! Will be coming back later
Cheesesteaks are super good. They also have a really good lunch happy hour special that comes with cheesesteak fries a beer and a shot really good deal. Good service to bartender was nice. We also ordered again for the second time from here to go and it was also just as good hard to find good cheese sticks here. I say this is as good as anywhere else you could findin Philly or anywhere else. They are definitely legit I recommend.
Juan gives the BEST experience! He’s attentive and very knowledgeable about different drinks and will give you best drink based off your taste and mood !!
It's becoming a favorite of mine despite its preferance to Philly teams (so they can brag a little) . Different folks of different strokes come thru resulting in good times and plesant atmosphere . I am a daytimer for afternoon events . Nice menu with cheesesteaks on top .
Stumbled upon this bar when shopping at the other side of the street. The neon sign „cheesesteak“ catched me :) We had the cheesesteaks and the buttered onion rings. Both where great. Also the vibe is very chilled and the staff is friendly and competent. It seamed that many regular visitors where there. Always a good sign imho. We liked it very much.
Omg I been waiting a good chicken cheesesteak so bad in it’s hard to get a good one in New York since they closed shortys philly cheesesteak place .This place I was skeptical but I’m so happy I went for it .So much flavor they are so big can feed like 4 people off one I don’t eat alot in look like I didn’t. even put a dent in it .I got the chicken cheesesteak with the wiz cheese in provolone cheese in broccoli Mushrooms, raw onions, and grill onions. My new go to spot for a cheesesteak it’s worth the $20 .
We were also looking for a sports bar to watch a game with some food. So happy we discovered old city ! The authentic Philly food was delicious ! Husband was thrilled with all their choices on tap and I was surprised how well crafted their signature cocktails were.. We have been here since during lively sports events and also just to have lunch and a quiet table . They have never disappointed us. The staff headed by our server and bartender Camryn has always been professional, welcoming , and accommodating. . I highly recommend
Cute Philly themed spot. Their cheesesteaks are good if you can’t make a trip to get the real deal. I will be back.
The go to is their cheese steak, Go with the original with whiz and onions. The food is great service / staff are nice and friendly. The atmosphere is awesome especially during games. Their other cheese steaks are really good. Also try the mozzarella triangles. It's definitely a place I will go to again.
I’m always looking for a good cheesesteak in NYC. Finally found a good option at Olde City. Also very much enjoyed their Italian fries. It’s a good place to watch sports and NFL games (they have Sunday Ticket and show all the games). It’s also an Eagles bar and Penn State bar for anyone looking to watch those teams. The service was really good when I was there. I would recommend to anyone in the area. I’ll definitely be back.
Had to try this spot out. Was fan of Shorty's, but this place is even better. Started off with some cocktails. I got the Poison Ivy which was a gin cocktail and a punch drink that tasted like rum punch. I forgot the name, but it was good. We started off with their beer battered onion rings which come with garlic aioli. We also got the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls which are served with queso. Both were a great start to the meal. After that we got into the sandwiches. We had to get the OG cheesesteak with whiz which was delicious. We also got the roast pork special with broccoli rabe and cooper sharp cheese and the Italian hoagie which was loaded with and mortadella, genoa salami, capicola, pepperoni, provolone, lettuce, tomato and onion. We also tried their garlic battered cheddar bites and their Italian fries. Not quite sure why they are called Italian fries, maybe because they're delicious (and seasoned with Italian seasonings and parmesan cheese). They also have wings with housemade buffalo sauce that we tried as well. Everything was really good and the place had a chill vibe. Throwback songs were playing and they have a bunch of TVs to watch sports if you're into that. Overall, it was a good time and I'd go back.
As I continue the hunt for the best cheesesteak in the city, Olde City is right up there with a fat, delicious, Philly. I stopped by during the World Cup and got the lunch special. Nothing better that some footy with nearly a foot king cheese steak and a beer. Good service, great vibes, and a fun spot to catch a game or get lunch.
Awesome spot to watch philly sports. We went for a birds game and it was packed, but we were still able to get seated and enjoy one of the many screens. Buffalo cauli bites were awesome, and came with a honey dipping sauce. A pitcher of their ale for 22 is a steal in NYC. My only knock on food is their cheesesteak could use more meat, but as someone from Philly, I thought the meat was well seasoned. If you can't get the real deal (aka be in Philly) Olde City is a very solid option
This is one of the best kept secrets in nyc. Doesn’t show up easily on google maps but if you find it - go here. I don’t live in the city but here every few weeks and I always come by. Alexis is one of the kindest bartenders I’ve ever met and her cocktail skills are unmatched. 1,000,000,000/10
We were exploring the Flat Iron district and stopped in for a quick lunch. They have a lunch special including a cheesesteak, fries and a beer for $20. My husband and I were able to share, the sandwich is large and delicious. Atmosphere is wonderful, plenty of TVs for watching your favorite sports. We will definitely return!
Their reputation brings in both regulars and curious first-timers. The good ratings reflect the actual experience. The meals balance flavor needs with freshness and health considerations. People that work here are super nice. I appreciate their standards and encourage visits.
This is my go to place for all things Philly sports!! I am from Philly and this bar has brought me my community back and make me less home sick. I absolutely love it here!! They have the sound on for sports, specials for games and just amazing vibes. And their bites are soooo good!!!
Great place we went to watch the utes game late at night and we asked them to turn in on the big screen and they did, fast service good priced beers and food, we got the pretzels which were very good, some fried cheese bites. And the cheesesteak, which was very good I was hopeful for it as I’d seen some reviews, but it ended up being so much better then that I am very pleased with my experience I ended up having there.
This place is my absolute favorite out of all the places I've eaten around here! The people are so nice! I met Tenzi at the bar the first time I went, and she's the best. Everyone I met each time was kind and welcoming. And the food is amazing. The cheesesteaks are awesome - they have tons of options, like cheese wiz, American cheese, or ghost pepper jack. I've tried them all, and they were all really good. The fries are amazing, too! They're perfect plain, but my favorite way to eat them is the Italian with parmesan and Italian spices - you gotta try it - so good! I've also had the wings and a burger here, both of which were delicious! I always drink Jameson and coke, and it was mixed perfectly here. You can get it in a tall or short glass, which is cool. Just seat yourself when you go in, make yourself at home, and you'll love it! I really love this place, and I hope you will too!
We were looking for a sports bar that broadcasts NFL games and after some research we came across this place. The photos that had already been posted suggested that it was an "Eagles-friendly" bar, which I, as an Eagles fan, really liked. The food looked great too and as luck would have it, it was only a 5-minute walk from our hotel. We couldn't make a reservation, so we arrived in good time before the game started, dressed up in Eagles gear, and got a great seat at the bar. The ambience is more than worthy of a cool sports bar. The walls are decorated with various NFL paraphernalia (Eagles and Penn State), but hockey and baseball fans are not left out either. The service was TOP, the atmosphere was great and the food - we didn't have better burgers (and fries) during our whole NYC trip. And unbelievably, at really reasonable prices. We were so impressed that we came back twice more afterwards. Rating: Highly recommended, we will definitely come back here when we get the chance to visit NY again! Keep it up guys!
After a night at a concert, we had about 25 minutes to spare before our next destination. In an area that is not known for its night scene, we were a bit discouraged that we were just going to have to wait around. Just as luck will find us, we crossed paths with Olde City Cheesesteaks & Brew. What a great place, this is my kind of bar. Just a bunch of fellas hanging out enjoying a drink, they had a front door man checking ID making sure everyone is on the up and up, he cracked a joke, made us laugh, great dude. They had a DJ on the side, keeping the music fresh instead of playing the radio on repeat which is nice, it never got loud, so it was a great time to have deep conversations of fate, love and tacos. Aside being a pub with a great selection of drinks, their specialty is cheesesteak. My brother and his girl got a sandwich to go, which was ready in 5 minutes and they loved it. I had the egg roll cheesesteak and they were slamming! Loved them, didn't see any cheesesteak tacos, I'll ask next time. Bartender was polite, fast and cool, enjoyed the short stay, did exactly what we needed, experience was well worth it!
I would give this place 10 stars if I could!!! The atmosphere was great, and Berk was awesome all the way around, excellent service, refilled our drinks without us having to ask, and the food came out piping hot!!! The flavor and quality of the food OMGOODNESS seriously heavenly!! You have to try the fries… please try the fries and queso and thank me later! Now for the Philly… wow, just wow!!! The chicken Philly with onions and mushrooms was phenomenal!!! We only have a couple days left in Manhattan and we will definitely be going back!! As the matter of fact I will be eating here every time I visit Manhattan, probably twice 😅. Now go and get you a chicken Philly!!!
Olde city is delicious!! Beautiful ambiance, great beer selection as well as other cocktails, delicious food, and outstanding customer service!! If you haven’t been yet, You need to run there! You won’t be disappointed. I also love how there is plenty of happy hour specials as well as late night specials. Food and drinks are reasonable priced so it’s definitely a great bang for your buck. Love, love, LOVE!!
The cheesesteaks are really good. The bread is phenomenal! Also enjoyed the pretzel and the onion rings were super crispy. Sadly I think their fries are awful. I do not like fries with a breaded coating so that’s my one criticism. Thankfully the onion rings and pretzel are good substitutes.
We came in to try their cheese steak lunch special and take advantage of the happy hour prices as well. We ordered the cheese steak with fries and a Yuengling beer and also two Real Deal Philly Pretzels off the happy hour menu. The food and service were excellent. -1 star because unfortunately they brought out a side of wiz with the pretzels and charged us $1 for it when we didn't specifically order the cheese with our pretzels and just assumed it was included.
First time in Manhattan and we’ve had our eyes on this place! Super cozy atmosphere, we were dying to try a cheesesteak. We ordered to go with fries and the service was friendly, prompt and food was hot, fries stayed crisp too! Cheesesteak was okay. A little heavy for my taste but we enjoyed it all the same.. definitely shareable for two gals. Thanks a bunch!
Food was pretty solid although a bit greasy. Ordered the cheese curds and a classic cheese steak. Beer was cold and prompt service! Only points for are for how loud the music was, could barely hold a conversation without yelling. Other than that, definitely a low key Pennsylvania sports bar that I'd recommend
Me and my friend stopped here quick for lunch. We decided to spit a Philly which was decent but not the best we’ve had, still very good don’t get me wrong. The service was fine, the waiter only took our order and only came back to give us the tab as we finished up (never checked in throughout the meal to see if we needed anything).
I absolutely love this Eagles bar! The energy here during games is incredible, especially if you're an Eagles fan. They've got great weekday specials, and the wings are a must-try. My go-to flavors are the mango habanero, spicy honey, and hot & spicy BBQ--all fantastic options! FLY EAGLES FLY!
Great service but the Philly Cheese Steaks were a bit underwhelming and lacked the special something. The fries were very good. Inside the restaurant it smelled a bit off, like old rancid beer or similar. That was the first impression we got when going in. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The music was a bit too loud
Good sports bar. Lots of TVs and sound on for the games. Food a bit hit or miss. Philly bar so Philly fare. Pretzels that taste just like the pretzel factory which I really enjoy. Their wings just ok for me, too soggy. Their cheesesteaks are good but they do themselves a disservice wrapping them up the way they do. Makes the bread too soggy.
I've wanted to try the Cheesesteak for months. It was my first visit to one of their locations and it was on Madison and 26th. It was dark and kid early on a Friday evening. The server was friendly. I ordered the "Authentic" with Copper Sharp and onions. Is it the best "Philly Cheesesteak" in NYC...maybe?! Was it good? Yes, it's good. I liked the bread. I would have preferred diced onions more cubed, smaller, and would try another cheese next time. There were some other items on the menu I would like to try as well. It to forever to pay and get out of there. I would go there, or another one of their locations again.
I believe my experience was right and exact 3stars. One I don't like paying for cheese & peppers and onions. Two I give them credit for keeping it Philly yet there's something messed up about it. Let's start with the chicken Philly. I payed about 20 plus dollars for the chicken, it comes on a authentic Philly style role yet the chicken quality is poor. Frozen processed chicken. It would be more authentic to use fresh chicken right out the pack......third, let's get to the steak I have the same issue with this steak it was frozen beef. Philly uses a hood ribeye or 100 percent sirloin steak bloody fresh red meat. I give the steak experience a 3 and I've tried this multiple times. The cheez Wiz is a lil on the aweful side and the meat taste gamey the service isn't the best more of a strickly business type of deal and that's ok sometimes yet I'm not feeling the steak. The fries are bomb...
I walk by this place all the time and it's always packed plus great reviews. So I finally gave it a try. There was a touch screen computer to order food to go. I ordered a cheese steak with fried onions, banana peppers, provolone and a brownie on the side. I had pint of beer while I waited but had to ask for a new glass because my glass smelled and tasted like soap. My hoogie didn't have any fried onions. Hardly any cheese and the steak was very chewy. Honestly the only thing I liked was the brownie. A very good brownie, a little crunchy on the outside but fudgy in the middle and not too sweet. I was highly disappointed by my cheesesteak !!
This location needs improvements huge ones starting with the manager. He switched customers seating multiple times to accommodate large parties who haven't had reservations. Many individuals were frustrated. The cheese steak egg roles were cold. The bread has been changed on the cheese steak which makes a huge difference. The food quality isn't no good. I love the other locations but sadly I will never come back to this location on Madison Ave. The server Monica I believe her name was very helpful and considerate with everything going on. She kept apologizing for something that was out of her control. The owner really needs to make some changes to that location.
We just came back from this place and don’t recommend it at all! The blonde waitress was very rude when my boyfriend asked a simple question. She never asked us if everything was okay, but of course she did with the rest of the customers. We didn’t do anything that could’ve provoked this kind of behavior. Only walking around with an annoyed face complaining about her bad knee. Here’s a tip: don’t work at a bar with stairs. Maybe she noticed that we aren’t from the US and that’s why we became second place. We ordered a mojito and chicken wings with mild buffalo sauce but it came without the sauce. We payed $38 for 1(!) mojito and around 10 wings!! The tip was included without our permission. They definitely didn’t deserve the tip. What a waste of money and time. We are not coming back to this scam place.
Rude staff, very very rude staff. Felt not welcome at all, wouldn’t recommend to anyone ! Food was quick but tasted average and was not near to an original authentic Philly Cheesesteak. The waitress ignored us heavily and it seemed to be her only job this evening. This didn’t happen to us only, but also to the other people in the bar we saw when looking around. Very very very uncomfortable to be a guest here, that’s why we left very quickly.
Food is good but they frequently fail to deliver dipping sauce with their wings, which ruins the meal.
Terrible staff, incredibly rude. Food is horrible. Quite a shame considering it has so much potential. Would avoid this place like the plague unless you want to be treated like a subhuman.
The heavy set bar tender with the glasses, dark hair and a lot of tattoos has a very nasty attitude. Ordered cheesesteak spring rolls and had a nasty demeanor and attitude. I guess she decided that it was appropriate to chit chat with her colleague, then remember that she needed to get my change, and thennn 10 min later when i politely ask her if i can have my change so i may wait in my car, she becomes very nasty, short, and rude with her replies to me. I wont come back her to this location solely bc of her nasty attitude and demeanor. The right thing to do would have been to be polite about making me wait opposed to being entitled as if what she was doing was the right thing to do to a customer. Poor service. Terrible. Wasnt even busy so cant use that excuse either. If you see this bartender, avoid her at all cost or choose one of the other locations.
I have been here before and honestly the food was very good! I saw the hours online and decided to call to double check, it was 1am on a Thursday night. When you call you get a recording assuring you that they are open until 2am and the kitchen is also open until 2am, it directs you to visit their website if you want to order take out and basically that's all you get. So I assumed they were open until 2am right? Wouldn't you? I head over and get there at 130am to find, the lights up and 2 staff cleaning as I walked up to the locked door. Needles to say I was more than disappointed and next time I'm looking for something to eat at that time or any other, I won't be going there to waste my time and find that any other options I could have chosen were now closed also. IF YOU ARE GOING TO POST AND TELL PEOPLE YOUR HOURS STICK TO THEM... It's restaurant business 101. Thanks for leaving me hungry and dissatisfied. I wonder how much business this is costing them.... I bet this happens a lot and people just leave annoyed without saying anything.. Good luck guys..
Probably a good steak. Great reviews. I walk into an empty restaurant. Decided to sit at a table because they had better cushioning. Right away bartender says,” oh just one. Normally you can’t sit there, but it’s fine”. With an attitude. There were 4 people there and I was walking up to the bar to place my order. I walked out. No thanks. You need to know how to make your customers feel welcomed, especially in service industry.
Lost 45 minutes tonight during the snow storm because the apps for delivery linked 3rd Ave location to Madison Ave and I had to go through an entire diatribe with an AI bot on Grub Hub to get my money refunded after walking to this location to take a photo and prove it was closed. Phone number GH tells me to call to rectify issues with the restaurant goes to an automated recording. They finally refunded stating the restaurant was in fact closed (probably due to weather). We have had hangups at our last 2 visits to this place, I think this sealed the deal with us. Get call forwarding and communicate with booking apps. We are at East End instead. They’re open and ordering food (in-person or online) has never seemed to be a problem. Their Philly Cheesesteak is delicious.
I hope everyone reads this before they order UberEats , Grubhub or DoorDash before ordering. The cheesesteak is so horrible that I wouldn’t eat it. The worst cheesesteak in my life, and it’s not hard to make a cheesesteak. Now it makes sense as to why they’re calling themselves Bosscat cheesesteak online. Nobody would buy this horrible food if they knew it was the Olde City place. When restaurants start to do this it’s because nobody’s ordering their food anymore. The next stop Buy 1 Get 1 Free, and then they’ll end up closing down. I really hope that happens sooner than later! It’s not like this place is serving the neighborhood good great food. It’s just an eye sore every time I walk by it.
