Opinions de Pastis New York
It was a good experience. The servers were great and very attentive. Expect a wait during busy times even with a reservation. The food was nice and was served quickly. The toilets had some fun decorations in them. The booths made the restaurant seem quite private even when the whole restaurant was full. There was no difficulty hearing conversations.
A cozy warm place serving some amazing food. I went to Pastis for a hearty brunch with a friend. We shared an eggs Norwegian, a corque Madame and a sticky toffee pudding. Coming to the savory dishes. Both were outstanding. The eggs were cooked to perfection in both and seasoned very well. Not to mention both the hollandaise and bechamel sauces on the eggs Norwegian and croque Madame were delicious. Completing the two dishes was a breeze and a feast! We ended on a sweet note with the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. A few note here would be that the sauce with the pudding was overly sweet. The beautifully made toffee pudding was overwhelmingly sweet thanks to it. And also the ice cream had icicles which lends a very off-putting texture to dish. So we just took the pudding out of the syrupy mess and enjoyed just by itself. Along with this we also had a St Germain Spritz which was a perfect effervescent accompaniment to the dishes. Coming to the service, it is absolutely impeccable and without fault. The servers are amazingly efficient and serve with a smile. I am looking forward to trying out the dinner and lunch offers this great place has to offer next. Highly recommend the place!
Consistent, reliable brunch spot, never fails. We had pancakes, which were huge, soft, delicate, although when we had it packed it to go, they said they had no more maple syrup...which seemed absurd for such a restaurant. We also had warm shrimp salad - which was just divine - fresh, and refreshing. We sat outdoors, preferred as it's always like a market inside- jammed with people, noisy, hectic. Dirty martinis and martini expresso were also on point.
I went there for Sunday Brunch. The food and service were outstanding. The French Toast was totally amazing. The guest at the next also enjoyed the French Toast and a point to tell it was the best French Toast they ever had. Our cocktails and dessert were excellent. The staff was friendly, attentive, and professional. It was very busy, the dining room is tight, and can be a little loud. Everyone was pleasantly enjoying their meals. I would definitely go back!
So good, dependable, reliable, warm, fun, I almost want to gatekeep it because it’s pretty easy to get a table for now. But I want to share the love, and the great food. Some of best front of house and atmosphere in NYC and Arno is a legend. I eat here at least once a month and have never once had a bad, unsatisfying meal. The cheaper bar steak with fries and a salade vert is my go to. Crème brûlée and chocolate mousse amazing too. And their tuna crudo is one of the best in the city, herbaceous and perfectly acidic and feels homemade rather than overprepared.
Dark chocolate mousse was delicious (texture was perfect and smooth and super chocolatey without being sweet and with dark chocolate shavings); crème brûlée was nice and the baba au rhum was an absolute blockbuster of the night soaked with lots of rum. Boozy desserts for the win. Desserts are fairly sized without being too large - can grab a few to share with a party of 3-4. The ambiance is fantastic for a romantic evening resembling the interiors La Grande Boucherie - very classic French bistro design like as if you teleported to Paris.
Went there for Thanksgiving and it was absolutely phenomenal! The food was some of the best I have ever tasted. The sticky toffee pudding was 5+ stars. Service was impeccable. If you go for Thanksgiving, make sure to get reservations as soon as they open up. The place was absolutely packed.
Finally, I visited this restaurant. I had been planning for a long time and didn’t regret my visit. Firstly, the vibe was great. Secondly, our server was charming and attentive. Thirdly, everything was super delicious!!! We had a great time and will visit Pastis for dinner soon! Thank you for our wonderful brunch!
We chose a beautiful Sunday morning in rainy New York to go out for brunch with friends, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. There were six of us, and we were given a lovely round table where it was comfortable to sit and talk. The restaurant was full, yet the hostess greeted us with a smile and kindly showed us to our table, even though two of our friends were running late. That was especially nice, knowing how strict New York restaurants usually are about seating incomplete parties. Each of us ordered something different, and everyone was happy with their choice. I had an omelet with Gruyère — soft, delicate, and absolutely delicious. It came with perfectly roasted potatoes, cooked in a special way that made them extra flavorful. My friends had salmon Benedicts, Norwegian eggs, and croque-madame — everything was excellent. We especially remember the French toast with strawberries and cream — heavenly! And for dessert, we shared profiteroles with ice cream, which were out of this world. The staff kept refilling our coffee and making sure our glasses were never empty. The atmosphere was lively and cheerful, full of people and energy. Even the restroom caught our attention — surrounded by shelves of wine bottles, it felt stylish and unique. We left feeling like part of a fashionable New York crowd — full, happy, and already planning to come back.
Arrived around 2 pm for a late lunch. Had to wait 15 min to get a table outside but the waiting time was spend ordering a delicious drink at the bar. When seated we ordered a Steak sandwich and a Bar steak. It was plenty of food and it tasted delicious. We had to share the profiteroles for dessert and they were also delicious. Location is nice and food great.
Overall, 7/10 from me. Pancakes were delicious- nice and fluffy with a good portion size as well. Coffee bar was solid and service was great. Only issue we had was with the bacon - it was $12 and we only got 3 strips... Definitely would pass on that in the future. Prices outside of that are very reasonable!
Always a reliable go-to with lots of seating outdoors and inside. Easy to get a table and very friendly and fast service! Food is always great, particularly love the steak tartare, fried artichokes, and the fries. Also like the salads verte for freshness to balance the pate champagne. Nice bread and salty butter too.
We went to Pastis while on a family vacation in New York. It was fairly easy to get a reservation, the food and staff were excellent. Our favorite dishes on the menu were the fries and the steak. Also the steak tartare and escargot were amazing. The fish dish we had was OK. I would’ve rather gotten another steak dish instead. We ended up ordering several plates and splitting everything. This was one of my favorite meals we had while on vacation.
The steak was perfectly cooked, the scallops were rich and flavorful, and even the escargot was spot on. But the best was the fried artichoke, super unique and absolutely delicious. The vibe is amazing, buzzing with energy but still comfortable and welcoming. Whether you’re there for a casual lunch or a nice dinner out, it just works. The staff are super attentive without being overbearing, and service runs like clockwork. Definitely one of the top spots I’ve eaten at in NYC.

I went here with a friend on Friday morning around 10:15. The vibe and atmosphere was great. My only issue was our server, I believe his name was Gerard, though I can’t be certain as we only saw him twice the whole time we were there. Once to take our purser and then to hand us the bill at the end. From the minute we sat down, it seemed like we were a bother to him. He was extremely short and even after thanking him, we weren’t met with any responses. Not even a smile or a “You’re welcome”. When we were ordering, my friend asked for their opinion on the turkey sausage vs the pork sausage. He huffed and said, “I mean…”. He was obviously annoyed at the question and just shrugged, giving us a blank stare. We tried to give him the benefit of the doubt by acknowledging that it might have been an off day for him, but then we noticed he was beyond chatty and friendly with the table next to us. It was our first time at this location and we were so excited to try it out. Unfortunately, the interaction dampened it. It also felt like a slap in the face to then receive a bill suggesting a 25% tip. Although, of course, we still tipped. Other than that, everything else was perfect. The rest of the staff all had smiles and it seemed as if everyone had a pep in their step. Really nice to see as we both work in the food industry and know how difficult it can be sometimes. The food portions were really generous while still being delicious. We both ordered pancakes and loved how fluffy they were! The cappuccino I had was also very tasty. The prices were fair for everything we ordered. Overall, I’d consider going back.
Great food and cocktails. Portions are truly American in size rather than French. Even the size of the starters was quite crazy but everything was delicious. I had the pate de campagne and the Boeuf Bourguignon. Particularly enjoyed the cocktails like the St Germain Spritz. All staff were wonderful, particularly the bar staff. My only complaint? It’s loud. So loud you can’t easily follow a conversation unless you are right next to the person. This appears to be a cultural aspect of the East Coast of the USA. I don’t think I’ll ever be okay with how loud some places can get. I want to talk to the people I’m with at a restaurant. Still, I’d put up with a lot for food and service this enjoyable. Recommended.
This restaurant is very conveniently located in the meatpacking district and the interior is amazingly decorated. We went on a Wednesday evening with a reservation and the restaurant got pretty packed around 6pm. We tried their beef tartare, sautéed spinach, scallops, escargot and mussels with chips. Our favourite was the escargot, it came with freshly baked baguette for you to dip in the buttery garlic parsley sauce. Overall everything was good but nothing hit the spot, hence the 4 stars.
I dined here plenty of times and this is the first time I am writing a review. The food is always excellent as well as the service. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and reminds me of there other locations throughout the states. People watching at there outdoor section is great. All together they offer a great brunch during the daytime and a very solid typical french dinner at night. Definitely give it a try

Still a go-to place but has lost its shine a little bit. Went for brunch. bacon a bit soggy. food ok. Lots of better places.
The food was good, but the guy at the reception was very unpolite and rude with us. He gave our table to other people, which we waited for 40 minutes.
