Opinions de Playa Bowls New York
Personally, I don’t like açaí bowls because a lot of places use powders and additives where it tastes artificial. Playa peels, cuts, and blends fresh fruit in front of me. At my location, I usually go at the same they get their banana deliveries so I can see the carts of fruit. I love the service, the freshness, and the options we have. If you don’t like açaí fruit like me, you can create your own base and add whatever you like to your bowl. You can create smoothies as well. Bowls can run anywhere from $9 to $15, but they allow substitutions for things at no additional cost (ex. I don’t like coconut flakes so I sub cocoa nibs, no Nutella and sub for honey or bee pollen). I get two or more bowls whenever I go.
Playa Bowls is a great place to grab a quick and healthy lunch. I usually get an açaí bowl; today I got an oatmeal. Everyone who’s helped me has always been helpful, easy going, and happy to make substitutions on a dime (ex: strawberries for blueberries). I cant speak for all locations but Playa Bowls at 27th and 7th in NYC is quick and efficient as well. I can be in and out in less than five minutes, which is crucial for me. I always know I will get quick, accurate service and fresh food, so it’s a frequent lunch destination.
Such a great pre and/or post workout snack. Such great varieties to try and a healthy snack or meal to keep me on track with my nutrition goals!
These are by far the best bowls in NYC. The people saying it’s not fresh enough don’t understand how acai bowls are made or should taste. Portions are good and they give lots of fruit and everything seems made to order. You can customize the bowls if you don’t like one ingredient and add any extra you want and not pay the extra $2. See you tomorrow playabowls.
Love me some Açaí! Closest açaí bowls in the States to what you find in Brazil/Brasil I wish they would offer blended with fruits like - lime, passion fruit, etc... ufff. Now I wanna go to Brazil/Brasil
Great bowls and a wonderful filling healthy treat!
I am absolutely in love with Playa Bowls I order atleast once in every week! It’s addictive because I love fruits and I just LOVE acai bowls!
There’s so much variety and the bowls are so healthy and yummy. As I stand in the store and look at the menu I can’t decide and now that you have steel cut oatmeal that’s such a game changer keep up the great work!!
Super friendly. Great treats! Absolutely recommend! I had bought 2 smoothies within the same hour. So great.
After trying so many breakfast place. This was probably my favorite. The acai bowl with Nutella was amazing. The fruits are so fresh and tasty. Could eat here for breakfast, lunch or even dinner.
Congratulations on opening. I want to say the bowl was amazing I came back for a second time to thank the young lady Celina for making it for me and she is a sweetheart and sure knows how to make a bowl. Next time I come I hope she’s there again.
All the employees are really nice. The quantity is great and the quality is really fresh. I wish it cost a little less but it's yummy.
Julio was very accomplished. Especially with me mixing up my mango berry bowl , I ordered a mucho mango. And the Pakistani girl was so upset and was given me dirty looks because she had to make the bowl over. It was a easy fix and julio agreed She needs to fix her attitude and to know that the customer is not asking for alot. To make over a different order
they make really good bowls and the price is right. staff is friendly and patient. That's why i come to this location; and rosa's pizza in the back has good toppings . yum and yum!
Very helpful accommodating special request
The FIT location is great. The mango berry bowl is the BEST! Always made fresh and full. Julio is very welcoming all the time.
The cashier was really friendly, and informative! He explained the reward system and it made sense to wait for the free bowl. The space is clean and I got my bowl in less than 2 minutes!!
The half açaí half pitaya pura vida is my go to! Although the prices are higher in NY, I still treat myself! Thrilled about the new location in my neighborhood.
Always Courteous Always Prompt Always Outstanding Svc.
by far the best playa i’ve gone too. fruit is always crisp and ripe. me and my bf always go to share a nutella açaí bowl. the nutella is also perfectly soft i’ve gone to others where it’s so stiff. i have the app so im constantly getting rewards. the staff are very kind
The cashier attendant Julio was super helpful, professional and courteous. Excellent customer care!
Julio was the best! He made sure I lleft happy with my order. First time eating Playa Bowl I did not know what to order. He mentioned great suggestions by the customer’s high rating ... I chose an electric mermaid ... the lady ( I don’t know her name ) that originally made my order was kind of just like here ... the order did not look pleasing ... he (Julio ) noticed that I was not satisfied with the presentation nor the order ... he insisted to do it all over for me ! With my input and suggestion on what to put into my my electric mermaid ... my heart melted with delight ... THAT HE WOULD GO THAT EXTRA MILE to please a customer he never met prior ... imagine how he is pleasing to regulars! he is definitely a keeper ... yes I will be coming back
They are always nice and welcoming every time I come to the store ! Truly love this place 🤞🏽❤️ thank you so much !
Everything Was Great The Worker Chris Provided Excellent Customer Service And I Will Be Coming Back Because Of Him
Customer service friendly. Pleasant atmosphere with music to soothe my soul .
Playa Bowl is my favorite meal in the world. I always get the power açai and I substitute it with plant protein. The staff at every location are always awesome. Smoothies, oatmeal, açai, pitaya & coffee. Started in New Jersey in 2014 and is sweeping the nation.
I have been eating at the FIT location since it was opened. I discovered playa in Bronxville and ever since I have been hooked. However, the level of service at the FIT location has made me a regular.
Reliant quality on the bowls, the store is clean and the server was efficient.
Everything was Super neat and nice. Staff extremely friendly the smoothies, and the bowls are incredibly flavorful. Also love the tropical look of the atmosphere. It’s amazing my go to smoothie every single day is the Kowabunga.
Fast service all the time in my experience, never had a problem with my order, and the decor is pleasant for the atmosphere if you do plan on staying and dining in.
Best PB location in nyc! Love the pizza shop speakeasy vibe
always super friendly and chill. one of my favorite açaís in the city - super fresh and tasty
I love Playabowls. Is a 5 stars ⭐️ healthy food place I ever tried. Everything fresh, delicious and excellent and quick serving. Thank you guys!
The ONLY healthy stop on my vacation in NY! LOL, and no regrets. I visited this location 2x (Nov.25 & 26)while i was here, and I highly recommend you pay this location a visit of you are around the area or visiting NY. I loved the elderberry shot. The much Mango and something I wouldn't typically buy was the beach break. Luckily, I was able to bring one of the elderberry shots on the plane with me! Staff was amazing and hardworking.
This place has a very fun atmosphere. The workers are very friendly and knowledgeable of what they are selling. They give you a lot well worth the money spent and delicious flavor. I ordered a açai bowl with strawberry, blueberry, peanut butter, granola and cocoa nibs, and I have had açai bowls at a lot of different places, and this place is probably by far the best place I ever eaten one at.
Look at the pictures and you will see their extensive menu. Even the picky people have a place here. The bowls are large servings. I ate half and saved half for later. I enjoyed the Beach Break fresh squeezed juice and Dragon Berry Pitaya bowl. If smoothies and bowls aren’t your thing, try their fresh pressed juices, or prepackaged nitro brewed coffee or healthy elderberry shots.
Nice, clean, bright place with lots of options all clearly laid out, making it easy to figure out what you want and place an order. Fairly quick from ordering to ready, space inside to sit down, at a table or on bar stools. Friendly staff friendly
The gentleman in the FIT location is always Beto g helpful and pleasant!!!
This place is solid. Ive worked at a playa bowls competitor for a number of years and will say these bowls are above average. I got the “power bowl” and although it was good they forgot the peanut butter that was supposed to come with it. No big deal though, ill live but then while eating i got a bite of protein powder that wasnt fully incorporated into the bowl. Not a great mouth feel LOL but ehh if those two things were fixed i would give it like 5 stars so check it out ig
Okay so as I’ve mentioned before, I’m sort of on a health kick. I’ve been working out triweekly, eating balanced meals, and taking care of my body. So of course I had to make a stop at the infamous Playa Bowls in New York. I only really get playa bowls when I go to the beach, so I was obviously extremely excited to test this one out! Upon entering, one of the very first things I noticed was the trendy atmosphere. The place has lots of pretty lights, cool posters, and trendy music. The place is very aesthetically pleasing and has tons of cute areas to take pictures of your food, just like the Instagram influencers do! I must also note that there is a lot of seating which is crucial since the place is always hopping and busy. In addition to all of this, they display their colorful fruits such as bananas and pineapples along the walls which gives the small space a beachy vibe. But of course, the main reason I was there was for the food. My initial concern was that I wouldn’t know what or how to order. I’m not an expert on smoothies or acai or anything of that nature. It wasn’t until that day that I found out what acai even was. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to order. On the left side of the ordering line, there’s a large blackboard with all of the menu items written in chalk. They offer a number of different bowls such as acai bowls, pitaya bowls which are made with pitaya, coconut milk, banana, and pineapple, green bowls which consist of kale, coconut milk, banana, and pineapple, banana bowls which have almond milk, bananas, and honey, and coconut bowls which are made with raw coconut, banana, and coconut milk. The options are pretty much endless. In addition to their famous bowls, they also offer other options such as oatmeal, chia pudding, smoothies, fresh juices, poke bowls, and wellness shots. Also included in their menu is their extensive toppings section which includes extra fruits of your choice, granola, Nutella drizzle, coconut shavings, almonds, peanut butter, honey, and so much more. Pretty much anything can be a topping and toppings can be added to all bowls, smoothies, and oatmeal. I will also note that the bowls are a bit pricey ranging from around nine to twelve dollars, however, you truly do get what you pay for and in my opinion, it’s totally worth it.
i’ll put up with this place because i like the product, but they leave the door open no matter how bad the weather is outside - just an open invite for homeless people. it’s also worth mentioning that the people who work here are just a headache to deal with.
I had 750 points and supposed to get up to 2100 to get a free bowl and I made another purchase yesterday on 7ave and ended up with 350 points when it supposed to been more. Other than that the food is amazing
Playa bowls has a fun atmosphere. The workers’ customer service and mood was minimal. I ordered a smoothie and substituted the liquid for orange juice and it tasted like orange peel (bitter) which made my stomach hurt the entire day. I was very disappointed because I had high hopes for this place and with the results it wasnt worth the price. Maybe they have better acai bowls (which I didnt order).
I love playa bowls, but it’s unfortunate that this location is inconsistent. I’m convinced they aren’t clear on what goes into each item because every time there is at least one ingredient missing. Such a shame because if you go takeout you won’t realize until it’s too late. Also the strawberries in the bowls are always white on the inside and not ripe enough… like why? Lol
I decided to finally give Playa Bowls a try for my post workout meal. I love how vibrant and clean the space is, and their signature blue has a nice tropical feel to it. I know bowls are their specialty but I was taken aback (and a bit overwhelmed) by the number of offerings. I appreciate variety but it felt challenging to select a bowl that had everything I was looking for w/o requesting changes. I landed on the Hemp Bowl and added protein; I could have probably avoided paying an extra $2 and selected one that already included protein. I was disappointed that they didn’t have unflavored protein powder; I don’t think extra flavor is needed when you have something like an açaí bowl that already has a ton going on flavor wise. My total including tax, fees and tip was more than what I’d spend at my usual place which I didn’t love. My wait wasn’t long, as for the bowl itself it was beautifully made and hearty. However, the protein powder wasn’t really mixed in well, so there was a bunch of unmixed powder in the bowl. Also, the granola it comes with was way too sweet for my liking. I try to ease up on the sugar when I get açaí bowls because usually, whatever fruit is included is plenty sweet for me. Idk if they offer unsweetened açaí or low-sugar granola options but I would think twice before I returned. The bowl itself was decent but again having to mix in the extra powder and the overly sweet granola, combined with the other ingredients was too much for me.
I love playa bowl. But this location gets so crowded which isn’t even the issue it’s the music. It’s so loud when crowded so you can’t hear when they’re calling out your name for the order.
The employees were beyond kind but my acai bowl had a distinct taste of freezer burn, and I feel as though for $25 ($29 with tip) that it shouldn't have! You can get an acai bowl with truly premium ingredients at sunlife organics
I had the Nutella açai bowl, it was amazing came with strawberries, banana, coconut flakes and granola on top, super filling and very tasty. Though it’s a Nutella bowl just a little drizzle of Nutella on top, but otherwise it was overall amazing! A variety of bowls to try. A very tropical ambiance to sit and enjoy your bowl! Price is a little higher, do try downloading the playa bowl app to get offers! Thanks to one of the reviewers who mentioned it!! I got off on my first bowl and points added to my app. The very next day had a mango pina colada smoothie and was very disappointed! It tasted no where like pina colada nor did it have any mango flavor, it wasn’t like a smoothie rather like crushed ice! Just tasted like some flovoured water! Dissapointed as we pay 10$ for 16oz!!
20 minute wait for 1 juice when the place was empty. 5 people behind the bar and still unbelievably slow.
Pricey. But the acai bowl weirdly taste like there is synthetic sugar(stevia, etc) in it. I get acai bowls all the time at different places. Acai berry alone isn't sweet, so I dont know what I'm tasting.
This location has no air conditioning on a hot summer day. I am not sure how they keep the food “fresh”. They have about 3 people working during peak time and will charge a fee if you are using debit/credit card.
Multiple times ordered from here and their açaí bowls I suggest never altering. If you add extra, you will get same if not less or the add on will just be missing from the bowl. Have had them just totally forget orders as well so as a couple just getting one of our orders and other out of luck or pay additional fees for 2nd delivery. In general I will just put this up to their 299 Seventh Ave location and will not apply to all their locations.
First time visiting Playa Bowl. I was looking to get a juice and was really let down. The overall taste was good but I payed $14 for a 20oz juice and almost half of the juice was just foam. Maybe acai bowls are more their thing. If you are looking for juice I’d recommend going elsewhere.
I stopped going to this location for a while due to the fact that the fruit is always rotten and the employees are always miserable. Decided to give them another chance today, but will definitely not be returning. After waiting for 10 minutes at the pick up counter, and making eye contact with multiple employees who ignored my presence, I finally got someone’s attention to reach down into the freezer to pass me my online order. Now, I just picked out all of the rotten strawberries so I could actually enjoy my bowl. Only giving 2 stars because I’m a big fan of Playa Bowls, but unfortunately this location is not up to the standards as some of their other locations. Clear lack of management.
This place is so weird and I am very confused about what I ate. First off the music is so loud and the speakers are in the back where they call your order. They took my order, I stood in the back and waited. They called my name, flashed a piece of paper with my name on it and then quickly threw it out and handed me my food. It was not my correct order. I told the man that it was wrong. He took it back then a girl came and argued with me that I got this bowl and I don't have what I ordered in it and that I took someone else's order. He did call my name or what I thought was my name. It's possible I miss heard him over the extremely loud music and blenders, but I saw my name on the piece of paper. On top of all that, my food was not good. The granola and the acai both had the same sickly sweet artificial flavor that I am assuming is protein powder. I have had acai before I know what it is supposed to taste like. The menu board nor the website state that there is protein powder in the acai, but regardless it was inedible and I spent $16 to only eat the fruit then throw the rest out.
I went there this afternoon and got the "green" smoothie and it was super watery unlike the 3 other times I had it. Actually it has no taste at all I make this with my plain whey protein.. are you taking out the fruit?? Can I take it back it is like green foamy water. Whoever made this on 7th Ave, nyc at around 2:45pm does not know the recipe
I ordered a couple of bowls from this location and once I got home , I opened the stapled bag only to discover that they gave me the wrong order . I contacted the store and was told that they would only give me 1 free bowl to compensate their screw up . How is that fair ? 2 wrong bowls should equal 2 free bowls but the store employees told me that it was my fault for not opening the bag and checking to make sure that my order was correct . The Playa Bowl employees screwed up but yet I get the blame . I'm contacting cooperate , this location customer service is horrible.
AVOID! Got 2 açaí bowls to go for $33 dollars. The açaí was ROTTEN and tasted like VINEGAR. Avoid at all costs!!
The bowls are delicious but the staff needs customer service training ASAP!!!! If you have a pickup you have to literally flag a staff member down for assistance with your pickup order because if you don't they aren't going to ask you if you need help. But I'm not surprised it appears that they learn this behavior from the manager.
I love Playa Bowls but ordered a cold brew the other morning and watched them add tap water into it. I’ve never seen this before and it was a horrible experience with no response from Playa Bowls when I reached out to them directly.
I came here for the first time after my fav location in the sixth avenue closed. I didn’t like they have no music and no people, it looks sketchy and creepy. Two employees, dark-skinned man and woman, had dirty shirts, like they didn’t wash them for months! It’s disgusting for a dining place! And, finally, I ordered a banana bowl that they a weird sour taste like it’s spoiled. I ordered it before for many times in the 6th ave spot and it had completely different, much better taste.
Not sure of the employees name but he acted very rudely towards us and specifically towards us. The only thing different about the group of people I was with is that we had Jews. From the second we got there at 6:45 he told us we needed to be quick because they were closing at 8. Every 10 minutes after that he would remind when they were closing, and only would remind us despite there being other people in the restaurant. He then turned the light off in our section at 7:15, 45 minutes before they would close. He seemed very adamant to rush us out, even putting the trash can right next to us, telling us multiple times to throw out our trash when we were done. After asking us thrice to throw it out, the first time being right when we got our food, he said “please throw out your containers” despite the fact that we had more than half of our food left. At the end when leaving (at 7:30) we asked for a to-go bag which he tossed over the counter several feet away from where we were standing, which mind you, it would have been closer to directly hand it to us, but he deliberately went out of his way to make it harder. It seems that even in kosher restaurants, subtle antisemitism lurks.
I had an extremely sticky smoothie that I could barely suck out from the straw. I asked them to change it. They simply poured it out and blended again, which didn’t help at all. Then, they gave me back with another cup. Only half of the smoothie left since it stuck on the previous cup so much. Additionally, they gave me a broken straw to take away 😭 I ended up throwing it away
Terrible rude customer service made me almost just walk out i had to just laugh because of how bad it was, employee had name tag brian, the reciept says rafiqun. was super rude and didnt even make eye contact had an attitude too. food was alright
This place adds a hidden 4% fee to all card payments. It doesn't matter if it's credit or debit. No signs, no warning so this is very deceptive practices. You'll only find out when you get the receipt. Bring cash or skip this place entirely. I will not be going back here because the man who took my order acted like it was not a big deal which is bad customer service and unprofessional!
