Opinions de Route 66 Smokehouse New York
An old-school fave, that’s even fun on a Monday! We came here during restaurant week and I accidentally showed up an hour early 🫠 so I got the most delicious martini at the bar while I waited for my partner. The decor and ambiance were spectacular, and the staff was lovely. I highly recommend coming during Restaurant Week - it’s a fantastic deal, and you get to try more things for way less. We got the crab cake, bacon (TOO delicious), ribeye, filet (Eye), hash browns, chocolate symphony, and the famous baked alaska. Everything was scrumptious and I’d definitely order everything again. More of a special occasion place, but if you want somewhere where you won’t be disappointed, go to Delmonico’s!
If you’re reading this review, you probably already know this is a top-notch steakhouse—one of the finest in NYC. If you need confirmation that this is a good steakhouse: yes, it is. If not top 5, then definitely one of the best I’ve ever had. The minute you walk in, you know you’re in a great steakhouse because of the services and that unmistakable steakhouse vibe (hard to explain, but you just know you’re in for a good meal). The service was excellent, exactly what I expected. Table is always clean after every serving, water fill and attentive to every detail. We started with Kumamoto oysters, and these were the best oysters I’ve had since my Boston trip—sweet, meaty, and perfect. Honestly, if all I had for dinner were these oysters, I would’ve been satisfied. The tuna tartare was fresh with great texture. It didn’t look amazing, but looks can be deceiving. The risotto was top-notch; I don’t think I’ve ever had such a creamy, flavorful risotto before. If the steak weren’t coming, I would’ve ordered another. The hash brown was unique, definitely try it if you never had it as it doesn't even look like a hash brown but taste exactly like one. The sour cream adds to the already good flavoring but I would pass the next time since it doesn't bring anything else once you try it. We also had the mushrooms—slightly saltier than I prefer, but they were fine. It’s mushrooms; nothing to go crazy about. Now for the grand spotlight of the evening: the dry-aged bone-in ribeye and the Wagyu Côte de Bœuf. The dry-aged ribeye really shined in its flavor. It was incredibly tender and melted in my mouth (medium-rare). This is exactly why you go to a steakhouse. There’s nothing like a perfectly cooked, well-made steak. The Wagyu was also excellent, thanks to the marbling that blended beautifully with the lean meat. Honestly, maybe even too much fat—probably about 15% pure fat—but without it, the steak wouldn’t have been the same. Besides my steakhouse experience in Spain, this has to be top 3 on my list. This place has earned its reputation, and it did not disappoint. I wanted to come here for a while and I was hoping it live up to the hype and it most certainly did. We finished with dessert. Dessert is dessert—if you’ve had it before, there’s not much to write home about. But I will say what everyone already knows: save your money on the Baked Alaska and just watch a YouTube video of it. You’re really paying for the show, because the cake itself underperformed in the taste department. Few last thing—, make sure you reserve and don't drive because street parking is impossible. This didn’t ruin anything either because dinner was still spectacular—but check your receipt. They charged us extra for the sorbet even though it was their mistake. It’s tiny compared to a $700+ bill, and I didn’t mind; I just counted it as an extra tip but others might care.
I celebrated my birthday with a solo lunch date here and had an amazing time! The waiter was attentive, the food was excellent, and the ambiance was 10/10. They surprised me with a complimentary glass of champagne, making my experience truly unforgettable!
At first, the atmosphere was nice and well decorated. Food was really impressive. For appetizers, we ordered Yellowtail tartare, Kumamoto oysters, Caesar salad, Caramelized bacon and Eggs benedict. I couldn’t find any words to describe how great the food was. My brother said this was the best eggs benedict he’s ever had. For me I was impressed by Caesar salad, it was really good. For entrees, my family had Campanelle and Marinated black cod. I ordered Delmonico eye with grilled asparagus and hash browns on the side. This place is a steak house, so I don’t have to describe how good their steak was it was amazing I really enjoyed having my dinner here. Desserts we ordered Chocolate symphony and Delmonico’s original baked Alaska. The presentation was as amazing as its taste. For the service, the server was really nice and helpful with our food and drink decision. After we finished our food, we were expecting host to be more greeted or just say thank you, but we were a little bit surprised that no one said thank you, have a good night like other restaurants. But overall was great.
Good steakhouse overall! servers did accidentally try to serve me drinks meant for a different table on two separate occasions but no biggie. Very nice atmosphere for a cute night out. Steak could use a bit more salt but that’s my personal preference.
First time at this storied steakhouse and wow—what an experience. I love a good steak, and this was honestly among the best I’ve ever had. Great atmosphere and pleasant, attentive service throughout the night. We both ordered the dry-aged bone-in ribeye, and it was incredible—deeply flavorful with that funky dry-aged character and cooked just right. For sides, we went with the pomme purée and asparagus, and both were top notch and exactly what you want alongside a great steak. We finished with their legendary baked Alaska, and it absolutely lived up to its reputation. One of the best I’ve had. It was a pricey evening, no doubt, but completely worth it. I’ll definitely be back.
We celebrated my birthday here. The restaurant has ample seating, and there are plenty of space between tables. The service was impeccable: our waitress is very attentive and friendly, she made us felt at home. We had the crab cake, the cod, the delmonico’s steak, and the baked Alaska. The quality of the food is excellent! Overall great experience and we will be returning!
Had always been an intention of ours to dine here for many years but scheduling never worked out. We certainly had high expectations and were still throughly impressed. From greeting to seating to servicing throughout our meal, it is a throwback to how fine eating establishments and many restaurants held as a standard. Regarding service, it is a team of observant, never intrusive employees that made us feel special. They were present before ever needed and allowed us to carry on a conversation without pause. The star of the show was the dry aged bone in ribeye. Perfect as it was served leaving nothing desired as each bite exemplified tremendous flavor and quality. The signature Delmonico ribeye was also very good. To everyone’s surprise, the Ceasar salad with the Myung Ran Dressing was absolutely delicious. Not to say we didn’t have expectations but it really blew us away on how the twist on tradition was such an enjoyable treat. Without question, recommended with enthusiasm.
A legendary restaurant! Delicious food and an amazing atmosphere. You definitely have to try the steak here. Excellent service. I would especially like to mention our waiter from Serbia. He made the evening even better!
Great experience! One of the best recommendations! A “must go” restaurant that, even though is hyped, has excellence in food, service, drinks, atmosphere… a chick/casual place very welcoming for families, couples, group of friends snd even if you go by yourself (like me). Wine selection is great! Some places in NYC are hyped and famous, however are very disappointing when you try, but Delmonico’s is way better than expected, I wish I could give 6 stars! Staff is exceptional!
I had always wanted to experience dining first hand at Delmonicos. I had seen the pictures and reviews and needed to experience it myself. My first visit I had a few Black Forest Cocktails, the Carmalized Bacon, Eggs Benedict and Baked Alaska, the later two being invented in the kitchens of Delmonicos. My second visit, I enjoyed a few Black Forest Cocktails, a Wedge Salad, Delmonics Ribeye, Pommes Puree and a Chocolate Symphony all complemented with a bottle of Caymus. It was the best steak and best meal I have ever had. Delmonicos has one of the most extensive wine lists for any restaurant in the world, it is truly a remarkable international collection. My only regrets are not having had experienced this before in life. I look forward to being able to enjoy this experience again.
Came here during the holidays to see some old friends. Great food, great ambiance and solid service. It was the holidays so it was definitely busy so there was a some delay, no biggie at all. The only thing that was a little off was the wine service. We’re not super knowledgeable, we asked for a $100-$200 bottle of red that was dry and would go well with the steaks. This kind of opened a pandora’s box of what type of dry notes, what region, the rain and weather in those regions, it took longer to pick a bottle of wine than it took to order all other drinks, entrees, appetizers and desserts. She made it very clear how unknowledgeable we were, which was why we asked for a recommendation, our main waiter made everything else very smooth. Overall great experience with delicious food. We loved the seafood tower(lobster tail and claws for all 5 people), better steaks than other high end places we’ve been to, all sides were great besides the potato(I think it was hash browns?) it was so dry and kind of stale, everything was still great, we don’t expect a grand slam every time, few home-runs are more than enough, best part of the experience is being with best friends anyway.
Went to try this place during Restaurant Week and was throughly surprised. The atmosphere is very cozy and romantic, perfect for a dates. The service is amazing, they constantly tend to your needs and make sure your table is clean. The food is also really good minus some minor things. The food is very rich that we had in the photos, however I personally think the steak was underwhelming. The steak is good but I believe it was a bit dry and lacking of flavor for a place like this. Additionally the bread they give you is intentionally cold, a first for me that didn't sit right. Besides those niche things, everything about this place is great!
Yesterday I had dinner at Delmonico and it was an unforgettable experience. The restaurant has an elegant, timeless atmosphere and a fascinating history as one of New York’s oldest and most iconic steakhouses, dating back to the 1800s. We started with Kumamoto oysters topped with Osetra caviar, a luxurious and delicate beginning. The Caesar salad was crisp and flavorful, followed by the famous signature Delmonico ribeye, cooked to perfection and served with rich, savory mushrooms. For dessert, we enjoyed their classic cheesecake, which was smooth and delicious. Since we were celebrating our anniversary, the staff surprised us with an extra slice of cake, a thoughtful gesture that made the evening even more special. The service was warm and attentive throughout. If I had to mention one small detail, the bread and butter served before the meal were a bit dry and hard, but everything that followed more than made up for it. Overall, it was a beautiful dining experience filled with history, flavor, and genuine hospitality.
$25 p/p bottomless brunch drinks for 90 minutes!!! Best part is that the drinks are actually good. Came across this place on a Sunday walking by stone street, it was a nice day out and their outdoor sitting is really comfortable. The service was great and really fast too. The ribs were mostly on the dry tough side but they were still tasty. The start of this meal was the garlic shrimp, I’m planning on going back just for that dish. The sauce was so delicious I almost wanted to just order another one and forget about the ribs. Overall great experience.
Showed up with 6 adults and 4 small children, in NYC that's insane to try and eat somewhere but this place accommodated us. Everyone who waited on us was super nice, understanding with the kids, very professional. I absolutely would recommend this place and the top floor is a nice spot when it fully opens for adults. Food was good! Got the breakfast burger and it was tasty.
I recently had a delightful experience at Route 66 Smokehouse. Opting for the New York Strip Steak, I was thoroughly impressed with the quality and flavor. It was cooked perfectly to my liking and had a rich, savory taste that really hit the spot. My wife chose the Smoked Baby-Back Ribs, and she couldn't stop raving about how tender and flavorful they were. The smokiness was just right, and the meat practically fell off the bone. The atmosphere was welcoming and the service attentive without being overbearing. Overall, we had a very satisfying meal and would definitely recommend Route 66 Smokehouse for anyone looking for well-prepared American cuisine.
Had my son’s graduation party at Route 66 smokehouse with a party of 18. Everyone had a great time! The food was excellent. The food & service were superb. The weight staff was very friendly, efficient, and attentive. Upper management was phenomenal as well as they came to check on us a few times through the evening to ensure all was well. I would go back and do it again in a heartbeat.
Was a great deal first time they they did restaurant week, alas no longer. The menu's essentially the same with the lack of a smaller Delmonico cut and higher supplement cost for regular menu steak. The history, ambiance is still there after the renovation. We were seated by my estimate literally the farthest table from the entrance. The apps were great, good bread room tenp butter, thick cut bacon and exquisite crab cake enclosed in a lattice. The steaks come out cooked to perfection, most of the table weren't able to finish the regular Delmonico's eye. Finally a tableside flambe baked Alaska capped off the meal. Service was a bit slow, partly due to how packed it wqs, and our table location. And a bit surprising there is a discount for cash payment
I got the restaurant week menu but upgraded to crab cake and ribeye. Felt the crab cake had too much filling not enough crab. The ribeye while good was not on the level I was expecting it to be when this steakhouse is quite expensive. Star of the show for me was the baked Alaska it was one of the best dessert I had in the city. Sweet and tart delicious banana cream. Overall I think the food was fine but it just didn't meet my high expectations.
Perfectly grilled high quality porterhouse and ribeye steaks made for a perfect evening after watching a smashing Chess on Broadway. One of the sides we got was the brussel sprouts that even the most vegetable averse person would love as the wasabi flavor was inspired. Our dessert of Baked Alaska was so fragrant with its banana gelato.
I was really looking forward to try out this restaurant as it has great history and have heard wonderful things about it. We had reserved a table weeks in advance but upon arrival we were informed there would be about a 20 minute wait time. We didn't mind the wait, left our coats and waited at the entrance although there wasn't much seating. Once we sat down at our table the wait time for the food was about 15-20 minutes between courses. Over all the experience was very elegant, high end and welcoming. Once we received the check we payed and decided to pay the waiters individually in cash. While gathering our things we were stopped by the waitress and she requested we give her the tip, we explained our intentions were not to leave without giving a tip rather we wanted to give it personally to the waiters who atteneded us. She continued to ask we give her the tip and waited there until I gave her the full amount listed. I understand this is a more high end restaurant but I didnt like the way I was treated in that moment, it was quite unpleasant to say the least . Over all the experience was nice.
We did a pub crawl around Stone street where you can find several nice pubs. Among them, there was the Route 66, where you can have an amazing portion of loaded nachos, I addition to a large variety of beers, including four beers for $6 during happy hour. The service was somewhat slow and the team seemed understaffed for the numbers of people visiting the pub.
Great spot to hang out with friends over a few beers! 🍺 The atmosphere is lively but still comfortable, and they have a wide selection of craft beers on tap. The staff was friendly and helpful when recommending drinks. The food portions were generous and paired well with the beer, especially the fried chicken. One small downside was that it got a bit noisy during peak hours, so it might not be the best place if you’re looking for a quiet conversation. Overall, a fun and enjoyable place for casual drinks and snacks. I’ll definitely come back!
I ordered the Nashville hot chicken and it was SO GOOD. I ate it down to the bone. That chicken was grilled. Skin was crispy but not crunchy like when cornstarch is added. The meat was hot. The skin had flavor. The sautéed spinach was delicious and the cornbread tasted like fluffy cake-and I don't even like cornbread. Can't say much about anything else. Would eat this again definitely!
Route 66 Smokehouse was like our first meal whiles in new year coming from our Staten Island ferry terminal. This place was very entertaining for our family and we all enjoyed the meal. Great burgers, ribs and awesome mac n’ cheese. But here’s a tip, we did have to pay $1 for refills on soda.
The Route 66 Smokehouse on Stone Street in NYC was a pleasant surprise to find tonight. Our host, Christian, was gracious and polite. The atmosphere was quaint and colorful. The Route 66 burger and rosemary fries were delicious, as was the Bourbon Barrel ale. Although the service was slow, we still had a great time.
We chose Delmonico’s for Valentine’s Day after hearing so many great things about this historic NYC steakhouse and were really excited to finally try it. The service was exemplary — attentive, professional, and easily the highlight of the night. The staff truly made us feel taken care of and set a great tone for the evening. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to the reputation. The prix fixe menu featured their classics, but the execution was inconsistent. The Eye of Delmonico came out undercooked while the filet was overcooked, which was disappointing for a steakhouse known for its steaks. The Baked Alaska (wasn't baked) also lacked the classic tableside flair or flambé presentation I expected. We were seated downstairs where the walls appeared to have signatures from famous guests, but it turned out to be printed wallpaper, which made the space feel less authentic than anticipated. What made it tougher to overlook was the price. The Valentine’s prix fixe came out to over $500, and based on the normal menu, the same meal likely would’ve cost closer to half that. For that premium, we expected everything to be spot-on. Overall, great service and a nice atmosphere, but the food and value didn’t match the restaurant’s legacy and just left me disappointed. Hoping it was just an off night.
The food wasn’t the best. The burger, fries and Asian fried chicken in my personal opinion were not worth the money at all. The waiters brought me the wrong set of fries and had to redo it. (Both tasted pretty bad…) But if you want to go just to drink and not for the food, it’s an alright experience then since they got tabletop games you can request to play with your friends. (They didn’t have all the games listed, because some people apparently stole some of their things).
The server was super sweet and the food came out fast but the ribs were dry and not too tender. It's barely a smokehouse, not many smoked options. My boyfriend enjoyed his steak sandwich, he said it was juicy. The chicken wings were really good though, tasty and juicy. Also, the high top bench leather seating was impossible to sit on, I kept slipping off. The gaming aspect is advertised but a lot of machines were down and the darts were by people eating so I couldn't do that. Super disappointing.
This space is very beautiful. However those benches inside the igloos are on cobble stone! Because the bench wasn't placed evenly on the cobble stone, I fell off of the seat and nearly hit my head. The food was okay and the drinks were alright. My highlight was visiting the game room. It was fun and entertaining, but please be aware that there are extra charges for certain games. For 4 people the entire experience was $120
The hot chicken sandwich was pretty tasty. The fries were ok. Limited food menu. Good amount of alcohol for you drinkers! Most of the food is priced at $20 per plate. Plenty of seating inside or outside. Service is extremely slow. I had to wait 15 minutes to order food. Street parking only. Make sure you come here with a good amount of patience!
Worst meal I’ve had ever had NYC. Went with 4 friends for lunch. 2 had fried chicken, both were way over cooked, BLT sandwich was all bread with barely any bacon, my brisket sandwich was like two slabs of beef fat. Soda was flat. Server didn’t ask to see how the food was or if we wanted refills on anything. The Halal trucks would have been a much better option.
I had my steak improperly cooked three times. The first time it was completely raw and had it sent back. You then recooked the same piece to give back to me. To bring the same food back into the kitchen that I already touched is a health code violation as well. Not to mention, even if it weren’t, I already cut into the steak. For you to then recook it, it would be dry and lose all juices, and I paid for a juicy steak. I then had to wait for my steak a third time, where it was still rare, but not raw. I did not feel like waiting once again so I just ate it at that point. It was only until I had my steak cooked wrong for the THIRD TIME that I received any sort of apology from any of the staff. The food here and the service is terrible. I especially expected otherwise from the oldest steakhouse in New York City. To for example, understand health code violations, and basic customer service. Or how to cook a steak.
Came here for work dinner and got the NY strip steak ($36) asked did medium and it was basically well done and it tasted like i was eating a pork chop. So disappointed like how do you mess up NY strip
