Opinions de Sant Ambroeus New York
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5-Star Dinner at Sant Ambroeus Madison was absolutely fantastic. We started with the Pomodoro, perfectly simple and beautifully balanced, followed by the Vongole, which was fresh, briny, and cooked just right. The Veal Parmigiana was the standout—tender, flavorful, and classic Sant Ambroeus elegance on a plate. Impeccable service, timeless ambiance, and consistently excellent food. A true NYC staple that never disappoints. 🍝✨
Charming, festive little spot! The food was delicious, bread and jam, coffee, avocado toast, and eggs Benedict, but what truly stood out was the fantastic service. My daughter and I were warmly welcomed by the manager, Nenad, who went above and beyond to ensure we were well seated. Our waiter, Bozidar, was attentive and friendly throughout. Great spot, atmosphere and staff! Highly recommend!
This was an incredible spot. We dined while visiting New York from Chicago and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food was incredible, and the overall ambiance was moody, vibey, and rich. Our waitress Lina was also amazing! She gave such good recommendations, and made us feel welcome and celebrated!
Amazing service and atmosphere and excellent food. The lentil salad, linguine with clam sauce as the tagliatelle bolognese were all excellent. Great local feel to the place, and the servers make you feel like you’re part of the family. The pasta dishes took forever to be served, but they made up for it with a free dessert cookie.
I love coming here it’s one of my favorite little spots. If you plan to eat in, I definitely recommend making a reservation. I’ve noticed a lot of people don’t, and it fills up quickly. The quality of both the food and the coffee is excellent, and the overall atmosphere makes it worth coming back. The only slightly confusing part can be figuring out where to check in, but beyond that, it’s a really great place to dine.
From the food to the service to the vibe the competition was close. This was the best service I've experienced by far. The food was delicious and very well prepared. My espresso was on point. The deserts melt in your mouth. Amazing experience! Maureen is an absolute gem of a server. Highly recommend!!!
I had the fettuccine alla bolognese—generous portion and great flavor. For drinks, I went with the Fiore. I loved the presentation and the sweet, tangy notes. It was chilly and windy, so I asked if they could roll down one panel of the tent, but the wait staff declined, saying it wasn’t raining—just windy. 🥶 Still, I really appreciated the manager accommodating me with a table even without a reservation.
Classic and delicious! Sant Ambroeus never disappoints. The food is rich and flavorful, the service is kind and attentive, and the atmosphere is elegant yet relaxed. A lovely spot whether you're grabbing a quick coffee or sitting down for a long lunch. Definitely one of my NYC favorites!
Sant Ambroeus Madison is one of the most charming culinary gems in the Upper East Side. This is my forever spot for mornings that deserve something special. Their breakfast is unmatched — elegant, delicious, and comforting in all the right ways. Whether you’re enjoying a quiet solo start to the day or catching up with friends, the ambiance is timeless and effortlessly chic. Their cappuccino is, without a doubt, the best in the city — perfectly crafted, served with elegance, and always consistent. And let’s talk about their pastries and desserts — every tart, every slice, every spoonful is pure indulgence. Refined, yet heartwarming. But the true star on the savory side? The truffle pizza. It’s rich, aromatic, and unforgettable — the kind of dish you crave again the moment you leave. What makes it even more special is the wonderful team behind it all. The staff is always warm, thoughtful, and genuinely kind — they make you feel like family. I always miss this place when I’m away — the food, the atmosphere, and most of all, the people. Sant Ambroeus is more than a restaurant — it’s a ritual, a little slice of Milanese beauty in New York.
First of all, the staff is amazing. Extremely attentive and kind. I felt like royalty! Second, my arrabiata penne was delicious!! Desert was also wonderful. The general manager came out to thank us for coming and chatted with us for a bit and it just goes to show you how much they care about giving great service. Overall a beautiful and wonderful experience. I will definitely be back again. Meal for 2 people with dessert was around 125 dollars, definitely worth the price!!
My first time at the Madison Avenue location and I loved it. Vibe is really nice, staff is friendly and accommodating and the food is good (not knock your socks off but more than serviceable). We shared the tuna tartare (which was OK), I had the cacio e pepe which was good, my friend had the fish (he said he would get the cacio e pepe the next time) and the desserts were SUBLIME!!! we had the berry tart and the tiramisu. I also love the way they serve the cocktails tableside. Will def come back when in the neighborhood - it's very convenient for the MET and for various UES galleries.
My boyfriend and I went there for weekend brunch and had a lovely experience. We ordered the vongole and an omelet, followed by cake and tea. I love vongole, and the atmosphere was enjoyable. Our server was especially kind and attentive, which made the visit even better.
Overall great experience, the service was fenominal as well as the ambiance. The aesthetic was very well put together and felt as decadent as the pastries and cakes that they offered. Not long after we were escorted to our table our waiter came to introduce himself and very kindly asked if there were any dietary restrictions that he should be aware of. We informed him that one of our party had a nut allergie and he was able to accommodate and when he brought over some complimentary treats to the table he made sure to point out which ones had nuts in them and which may be cross contaminated. I thoroughly enjoyed my salad and salmon, but I was a little bit surprised that the bread was not warm and the artichoke salad had so much parm it almost didn't feel like a salad. Overall positive experience, thank you!
(Visited Aug 2025) This was the final fine dining stop of my New York trip, and sadly the mains were a huge letdown. TONNARELLI CACIO E PEPE – Undercooked pasta with a hard, floury center. Completely ruined the dish. CUTELÈTA ALLA MILANESE – Pounded paper-thin, tasting like fried starch with no meat flavor or juice. Only the lemon wedge made it barely edible. Not worth the $70+. The restaurant did offer a hazelnut cake as an apology—it was good. On the bright side, the prosciutto appetizer was incredible, with rich aged ham flavor balanced by sweet mozzarella. Highly recommend starting with that, but skip the mains.
I wanted to love this place. The food (especially the custom spicy pasta) was fantastic, and my server was kind, attentive, and welcoming. I was truly having a lovely time. However, the experience was completely ruined by who I assume is the floor manager (a bald gentleman). Despite my table ordering a second round of drinks and settling in, he approached me abruptly and demanded I leave, citing a strict '1-hour table limit.' Here is the problem: I looked around, and tables who had been seated before me were allowed to stay. People who arrived after me were not being rushed. I was the only solo diner, and the only person of color in my section, and I was the only one singled out and asked to leave while I was still spending money. It felt targeted, uncomfortable, and completely lacking in the class that Sant Ambroeus claims to have. Good food is everywhere in NYC; treating guests with basic dignity is apparently rare here.
