Great location and ambience. Near the Met. Food was fine, but not great. Also: Not disabled friendly! Located on 2nd and 3rd floor. No elevator, and stairs aren't very usable either.
Wonderful experience. Great food and positioned us in a perfect space to enjoy a meal with our friends and their children. Thoroughly recommend!!
Fantastic dinner. Great ambience. Waiter was very attentive. Food delicious. Get the pistachio cake dessert. Yummy!
Easy walking distance from the Met, and very busy for a Tuesday afternoon. Little understaffed, as everywhere is during the pandemic, but our food came out quickly and it was perfect. The wait staff was friendly and you pay at the table with a hand-held card machine. I had the DOC Margherita pizza and my husband had the cacio e pepe. Both were phenomenal.
Probably one of the best experiences I’ve had. Food was great and service was better.
Great cozy atmosphere! Quick and attentive service. We had the meatballs and Buffalo Mozzarella pizza and I recommend both!
The place had a positive and relaxed vibe. The seating arrangement was a bit crowded - chairs and tables too closed. The food came fast and were satisfactory. Staff were snappy and polite.
We’ve been here before and this place is fabulous. The pizza is the best I’ve had in NYC. Skip the street pizza. This pizza is divine. The San Marzano tomatoes, the Italian crust, cooked in a wood fired pizza. Divine
We stumbled on Serafina after visiting the Metropolitan Museum. It was absolutely delicious. Alexa was fantastic and the service in general was amazing. Highly recommend stopping by for lunch or dinner
The experience at Serafina was 5 stars from the moment we walked in the door, were escorted to the beautiful Tuscan style third floor covered Terrace and were welcomed by Henry. He gave an exquisite smile and amazing service. The food was just incredible. Highly recommend!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Wonderful service. They found us a table quickly even though most were reserved. The wine and food were delicious. Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful lunch at Sarafina. Tasty Salads and fantastic pizza. We tried three versions and all were quite satisfied. Good wine as well
First time here. It was highly recommended by another mom while we waited to put our name on the waiting list. The food was delicious. The ambience was perfect and comfortable even when every table was occupied. I love the decor of the space as well. I'd love to go back and host a gathering there in the future.
Uhmazing. Food was gorgeous, we ate upstairs which is really cutely decorated. I used to live in Italy and the food is definitely on par with real Italian cuisine. The Truffle ravioli was SO good. Staff were wonderful, especially our waitress Selena, and the bar girl down stairs (whose name I didn't get but was awesome). If i had more time I'd come back!
A few weeks ago we spent the day at The MET and then walked here. It was our last day in NY and we were looking for a good place for a last meal. This place did not disappoint. It is such a beautiful location. You enter and walk up a curved stairway to the resturant which is on the second floor. We sat near the windows where you can look out into the city. I had this pasta which was recommended by the server as her favourite one. The pasta was so fresh and the flavour sooo delicious (see photo). It was about 20 USD, if I remember correctly. My mom only got a Caesar salad with salmon but she loved it as well. The flavour of the dressing was nice. My dad ordered pizza and my brother got Calzone. The pizza was basic with tomato sauce and cheese, etc. but my dad really loved it. They gave bread to start which was mediocre, wished it could have been warm. And the service was friendly enough. But we still had an amazing experience with the delicious food and view.
Serafina fabulous pizza delivers an unforgettable Italian culinary experience. From the warm ambiance to the authentic flavors, every aspect of this restaurant is top-notch. Impeccable service, mouthwatering dishes, and a truly enjoyable atmosphere make it a must-try for Italian food enthusiasts.
Serafina 79 in the Upper East Side is a true gem. The Italian food is simply amazing, offering a delightful array of flavors and perfectly cooked dishes. The service is impeccable, with staff who are attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. The dish choices are extensive and cater to all tastes, ensuring everyone finds something they love. I highly recommend Serafina 79 for anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience in New York City.
We are visiting NYC and this was the perfect place to stop by after visiting the Met. We got the rigatoni al bolognese and penne alla vodka and both were delicious. The atmosphere was calm, the wine was delicious, and they had a nice candle that added to the atmosphere. Santiago was very kind, had a good attitude, he deserves a bonus ;) Thank you for making our trip special!
My wife and I visited during the Christmas holidays and went without a res shortly after they opened on a Saturday. Fortunately, they had room for us, so definitely make a reservation if you can. My wife had the 4 stagiani pizza (topped with tomato, mozzarella, mushrooms, artichokes, pesto & prosciutto), and I had the RAVIOLI DEGLI INNAMORATI (ravioli with lobster). Both were absolutely delicious! Out of all the restaurants we ate at, this was one of my favorites! Unfortunately, I didn't snap any pics of the food, but it was definitely good!
We recently had a wonderful experience at Serafina! We visited on a Wednesday evening and were seated immediately. The ambience was lovely, as was the staff. We had the burrata and prosciutto appetizer which was incredible - easily some of the best prosciutto I've ever had! We ordered the gnocchi and steak and potatoes entrees. The gnocchi was perfectly tender and the sauce was delicious. The steak was initially overcooked, but the staff corrected that quickly and the properly prepared cut was tender and delicious. I also had an amazing espresso martini here that will be hard to match taste-wise! Overall I definitely recommend this restaurant if you are looking for reasonably priced Italian food near Central Park.
One of my all-time favorites! The original neighborhood haunt / OG location. Been going to this spot since I was 11 years old. 30 years later, it still hits well! Food and service are consistently amazing.
My friends and I traveled to New York City for what we jokingly called a “food vacation,” and Serafina was at the top of our itinerary. We chose the 79th Street location for Thanksgiving dinner, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. Levi, the manager, greeted us with a level of hospitality that felt both effortless and rare. He selected a remarkable wine and guided us through the menu with the kind of insight that turns a meal into an occasion. The prosciutto and burrata appetizer, an indulgence I’m still thinking about days later, set the tone for an extraordinary evening. The pastas he recommended were beautifully executed, and the traditional Thanksgiving turkey was so tender it practically dissolved in our mouth. The ambiance was warm, intimate, and reminiscent of an older, nostalgic New York What distinguished the evening most, though, was Levi himself. It was our first Thanksgiving spent away from family, and he created a sense of belonging that felt genuinely irreplaceable. His kindness and attentiveness transformed the dinner into something far more meaningful. We’ll absolutely return, and we’ll be recommending Serafina on 79th to every friend visiting the city.
I was born and raised in Italy. The food from this restaurant sent me back to Italy 🤩🤩. Everything I had was authentic Italian. The meatballs were excellent (especially the marinara sauce omg), pizza was just as good as the one in the pizzeria across my house in Italy…tiramisú was divine. If that wasn’t enough, service was excellent. They treated us with courtesy and everyone was very efficient. Do yourself a favor and go eat at this location!!! 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
What an amazing place to eat at on a sunny day! It was such a joy to see the colorful and cheerful decoration of the restaurant. I recommend that you reserve in advance mainly because there’s no waiting area and you will end up having to queue on the narrow staircase leading up to the restaurant (not very comfortable). Luckily, we did have a reservations so we sat down immediately. The staff was very friendly and the service was quick! We were a party of 3 and we shared a margherita pizza (without olives) and we each had our own pasta dish: 2 of us had the black truffle ravioli dish and I had the Paglia E Fieno (fettucini with creamy tomato sauce). The pizza was phenomenal from crust to toppings! The 2 other people with me LOVED their ravioli dish and I also loved my fettucini dish. What I liked about my fettucini dish is that the homemade fettucini itself was really special and the portion was very generous! I ended up not having dinner that day! Highly recommend this place!
Delicious food and love the atmosphere! Multilevel joint with excellent Italian cuisine. Shared some plates with gal pal and an excellent bottle of wine! Dessert was fabulous too and would def recommend! Had wine, appetizer (burrata and cherry tomatoes) and incredible ravioli with butter and sage. Yum!
So happy they offered a vegan option and it was delicious! Cocktails were perfect too!
Long awaited and definitely over due to see this wonderful chain and try their Italian cuisine. The menu is simple and not too overwhelming, the staff is attentive and truly accommodating a family of 5 with no reservation. The pizzas are truly delicious and a must try with their perfectly thin crust and toppings. The tiramisu was good, classic and was devoured in a few seconds. Would highly recommend to try if you’re in town or just in need of something delicious and hearty.
Super cute location. Great menu. High prices though. The bruschetta was really good. The penne arrabbiata was amazing and felt like a lot more pasta than I was expecting. I didn’t think it was spicy, but the waitress did mention it and the person I was with thought it was spicy. It was expensive, but worth it for the vibes and great food.
If you love spicy food, stop here for a pizza. Habenero peppers are the not so secret ingredient. We loved it. Be sure you really like it spicy because this one is hot, the only places that usually mean it are thai restaurants. We didn't have a reservation and were seated on the rooftop terrace which was kinda warm. They also take inkind which is an app that let's you earn 20% back when you pay your bill. Great deal!
Serafina Pizza was a great stop while touring Central Park. The Italian food was excellent, and everything we tried was full of flavor. The upstairs area is beautifully decorated to look like a garden, but it’s all indoors, which makes it a perfect escape from the weather. The entrance is a bit hidden from the street, but it’s worth seeking out. The waitstaff can get a little overwhelmed, especially with how close the tables are, but they’re attentive and work hard to make the experience enjoyable. Definitely a spot I’d return to.
Had an amazing experience at Serafina in New York! The service was top-notch attentive, friendly, and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The pasta was absolutely delicious fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. You can tell they take pride in both their ingredients and presentation. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Italian food in the city
Serafina never disappoints! From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed by a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels both elegant and relaxed. The staff is incredibly attentive and friendly, striking the perfect balance between professional and personal. The food is consistently delicious—fresh ingredients, beautifully plated, and bursting with flavor. Their pasta is a standout and the thin-crust pizzas are crave-worthy. Great wine selection, too, with something for every palate. Whether you’re out for a casual lunch, date night, or dinner with friends, Serafina offers a consistently exceptional experience. One of my go-to spots on the Upper East Side!
We went this evening on Christmas Eve so it wasn’t completely full. The food arrived quickly and was hot. Our server was attentive and professional. We ordered the margharita pizza, lobster ravioli, lobster tangilioni, and mushroom ravioli. Everything started wonderful! Great service, amazing food, great atmosphere, Will definitely return.

All pasta dishes were excellent. Very nice dining area on 3rd floor. Service was attentive. If you save room for dessert, chocolate mousse cake and vanilla gelato can’t be beat.

The food, service, and atmosphere were 5 star, all the way. I had pizza, cappuccino, and tiramisu. I will be back!
Food was great, we had a couple different things and my family enjoyed them all. Portions were average, and prices were alright. Staff was friendly but didn’t come by often. The restaurant was beautiful, we were seated near the very top and I loved how everything looked. Overall it was also clean and spacious enough.
The food was great but small portions and the seating is very tight. There was also a chilly draft but also I think this is reasonable prices for the area and its super close to the MET. I wouldn't recommend this place for large groups of people. The lemon pasta and cocktail were amazing.
I know their name says fabulous pizza, but I’ll definitely recommend trying their pastas. The linguini with clams was amazing, simple yet full in flavor. The spaghetti bolognese was delicious as well. Fast service and the place is nice and cozy. The bread wasn’t anything special hence the four stars.
i ordered their spicy penne a la vodka. the dish was overall pretty good— it met expectations but didn’t exactly exceed them. the pasta had a great al dente texture and the sauce was creamy and had a slight zest that made it very appetizing. i also ordered their tiramisu which was delightfully creamy and had a rich coffee flavor. it’s not the most outstanding italian place, but i’d overall still recommend trying this place out
Are around 4 on Saturday no problem getting a table but it was busy and great atmosphere at service. Bruschetta had fresh tomatoes and basil, wonderful! Pizza had crumbled sausage, mushrooms & fresh basil excellent! Service was prompt and friendly. Only critique was some areas could have been tidier. Would visit again.
I had low expectations going in, and was pleasantly surprised by 2 wines by the glass I sampled; a brunello and pinot grigio. The Caesar salad with salmon was excellent with the salmon fresh and cooked perfectly. A bean soup was adequate. A creamy dessert was within expectations and a feta salad with watermelon and arugula was also very good. For lunch on a rainy day, the place was perfect.
My first time at one of these establishments, stopped by on a whim and by the aroma. Was seated relatively quickly even with a full house. We were served relatively quickly and stayed until closing. Salad: delicious, Salmon: delicious, wine selection: fantastic. 8/10 I’ll return until I’ve tried your entire menu
Overall, a good experience. The terrace was very special atmosphere wise and service was good. For the price point, the value of the food was good. Though it was not necessarily super special. It got better as you ate more, but was overall still left with an experience that was on the upper end of an average dining experience, hence 4 stars. For tourists, likely a great place to check out and better than what is in the suburbs. For a New Yorker, I felt it stands out more for the decoration, less for the food.
It was easy to book dinner for a Monday evening. Book to eat on the rooftop terrace, it's air conditioned and beautifully decorated. Their prices are expensive for pasta and pizza but you are spending for the atmosphere and location. An easy walk to the MET. The gnocchi was good. Their lobster ravioli is the real star on their menu, but it is a small serving for a $30 dish. The margarita pizza needs more basil and roma tomatoes, it should not include olives on the pizza. Their pistachio cake crust was soggy and it didn't taste fresh. Service was attentive. Overall a nice place after a long day @ the MET. Try the pistachio and coffee chocolates at the Parisian chocolatier next door!

Fresh and tasty food. Quick and friendly service. Everything we ordered was perfect from salad to pasta to pizza. Seating is right, but still enjoyable.
First and last time I’ll be dining at this spot. Came for opening time. Seats and tables were filled with food and crumbs—this was not after a full day of people dining so I guess nobody thought to wipe things down prior to opening. I needed to replace my fork 3x before I was able to get a clean one as well. Food was okay—pizza was decent, and the chicken milanese was fine but bland. Place is decorated nicely and was very busy for lunchtime— if only they knew how to clean the place up. Waiter wasn’t very attentive. At the end he tried to push us to scan the QR code at our table to pay for our meal but we then realized that there was an additional fee to use this online platform—so beware of this (it’s not an expensive fee but more so the principle here that they try to push for it without mentioning additional fees). After requesting a physical check that didn’t include the additional platform fee, we began to get questioned by the waiter, who was hesitant to hand the physical check over. Just not an appropriate way to handle the situation. Overall, not worth it—things were handled poorly and not very clean.
Hello!!! Well looking a restaurant for a quick bite in the afternoon while waiting to go to the met, serafina popped up... We sat in the upstairs dinning room. Asked the waitress if I could charge my phone for a few minutes and the answer was no. That is really nice customer service. May be the manager dont let them be accommodating to the guests. We saw the server twice. To pick up the order and to cash out our check. Silverware was dirty. Employees eating in the tables next to us. Food was average. Look at the photos please. No offense to the culinary staff but the ravioles looked from a supermarket box. Simply we not feel home. We eat and left in less than forty mins. See yall soon in our next trip!!!
Food was just good or ok. Nothing to brag home about. Waited 45 minutes just to cash out. And all the silverware and glasses were dirty and dusty like it was sitting there. It's definitely a cool spot to eat but I was disappointed by the food taste and service. Maybe next time it will be better.
The pizza is good, and it's an institution. It's conveniently located by a number of museums in Central Park. Reservations are recommended if you're coming during busy hours. Unfortunately with a new crop of pizzerias coming up, like Keste, this pizza doesn't stand out as much as it used to. If you are a fan of thin cracker style crust, you'll enjoy. Don't forget to ask for the chili oil as well. Service was great.
Yes the service is amazing. Lots of staff who are so polite and accommodating. However this is another freezing restaurant. The chilly wind from outside diffused into the dining room every time someone arrived at street level below. Only go if it is warmer than 10 degrees outside.
Service excellent, tables super close together. You can definitely follow your neighbors loud conversation. Didnt realize you had to climb stairs to enter - is there a mobility entrance for those who cant do stairs? I dont think there is anything on website warning of this. Food is very expensive for being salty and over cooked. Excellent waitstaff though.
Extremely mediocre. Do not get the lobster ravioli. It does not really taste like lobster, they give very little lobster in each ravioli, and also don’t give very many ravioli. The portion size is smaller compared to other dishes. The truffle pizza was also not very worth the price in my opinion. It has a strong truffle flavor, I’ll give it that, but. The cheese was solid and not very melted, and there wasn’t much to the pizza except the solid cheese and truffle flavor. Gnocchi was pretty good, nothing special though. I liked the truffle ravioli and other pizza. Atmosphere is really lovely, great lighting and decor, especially on second floor. Service is good too! Overall would not come back because the food is not worth the price.

We got a couple of pizzas - both lacked seasoning in the base. Flavor profile was average or below. Gnocchi was undercooked and kinda cold and on the contrary the ravioli was served piping hot which burnt my mouth. Seemed like frozen ravioli that was microwaved and added to a sauce. Food was average, could be better with either guidance from better chefs or some self innovation from the chef and cooks currently there. Service was below average - The service manager was rude enough to not greet us and only talk to the staff that was seating us, we saw him a couple of times while in and out and the guy had negative body language. Our waiter seemed to be in a hurry to go back near the kitchen then attending us. Atmosphere was good on the lower floors but we were seated on the top floor which wasn’t as good as the floors below. Place has potential but lacked motivation and soul !
Ordered Spaghetti Carbonara and tiramisu. Spaghetti carbonara was really, at least for me, TOO salty because of the bacon on the top. I had to leave all the bacon on the plate. Also, thinking of the price of the pasta, it only had spaghetti, sauce, bacon, and parsley. However, the tiramisu was very good. Service was okay, didn’t pay attention to what I asked for such as printing receipt after payment. I had to ask separately. Also, I sat at the two people table, and the tables were too close to the tables next to you so you could hear all the conversations, other people’s purses touching, etc. Would not come again.
The service left a lot to be desired. We were seated at a table extremely close to others, surrounded by people, even though there were other tables available. The space was so tight that the servers could barely walk by without bumping into us. We ordered a burrata and it came without toast, and we had to ask the waiter to bring the complimentary bread since it wasn’t offered. It was freezing inside the restaurant, with everyone wearing jackets, and they only turned on the heater when we were already about to leave. My friend ordered clams and wasn’t given a plate for the shells, so we had to take one from a nearby table. She also ordered a Coke, which took forever and was never brought.
We were disappointed with the service, so we left a smaller tip. Our server then confronted us about it, which felt rude and unprofessional. After we explained, she essentially told us to leave—as if it were her own restaurant. The food didn’t redeem it either: the pasta was average, and the Aperol Spritz was nothing to write home about. Overall, not worth the hassle. If i dont like the service, i wont tip 20% period.
The worst restaurant. The staff is not polite. The manager is not managing at all. The food is terrible like eating salt.

Unfortunately, I had to leave. Under the ADA, service animals must be allowed to accompany their handler in all areas of a public accommodation where customers are normally permitted and may not be segregated or assigned to a specific seating area. I requested a table that would allow my service dog to lie safely and comfortably, but we were seated in the middle of the restaurant with no reasonable space for him to settle, and the staff refused to relocate us. This resulted in denial of equal access and is not compliant with federal service animal regulations.
I had a disappointing experience with the hostess at Serafina Upper East Side on Friday evening around 5:45 PM, 2/27, and I would not recommend coming here for a pleasant time. I politely requested to be seated at one of the open two person tables on the second floor. Despite several tables being available and being appropriately dressed in business casual for an after-work dinner, the shorter hostess repeatedly insisted that I go to the third floor, without offering any explanation. Even after I expressed a preference for a corner table on the second floor, the request was dismissed. I chose not to escalate the situation and went upstairs, but the interaction felt unnecessary and awkward. A simple explanation or more courteous communication would have made a difference. Basic hospitality sets the tone for the entire experience. Additionally, I found the food to be overpriced and average in quality. Overall, not the level of service I would expect.
One of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in New York. We ordered pizza, kids pasta, penne, and filet mignon — all were bland, poorly cooked, and far below the quality you’d expect for the price. The service was just as bad: slow, inattentive, and unaccommodating. They even refused to let our 10-year-old order from the kids menu, which she actually wanted. Water came without ice, which summed up the overall lack of care. I don’t know whether the Google reviews are inflated or fake, but the Yelp score is much lower and probably more accurate. Would not recommend to anyone looking for good food or hospitality.
