Opinions de Shuko New York
Service and atmosphere was great. I ordered Mongolian beef and lo mein. Keith is an excellent server. My rating for the food is 2 stars because the beef was dry and lo mein was as well. I liked the flavor only for the price, in my opinion they need a new chef. My girl Stormy went with me 😃
This was my first time visiting, and I was truly impressed from the moment I walked in. Beth and Daja greeted me warmly and made me feel right at home. They introduced me to Alex at the bar, who crafted a refreshing Sunrise cocktail that was out of this world. I started with the pork dumplings appetizer—flavorful, perfectly cooked, and a great way to kick off the meal. For my entrée, I had the Mongolian Trio Platter over white rice, featuring chicken, steak, and shrimp—all seasoned beautifully and cooked to perfection. I finished with a slice of key lime pie that was absolutely delicious. Overall, a 10/10 experience. The staff, atmosphere, and food were all exceptional. I’ll definitely be returning
My girlfriend and I did an impromptu birthday lunch! Keith, our waiter, was amazing! He catered to all of our particular needs, with enthusiasm and professionalism. And he brought out dessert with a big sparkling candle; they sang and she rang the gong!! We had a blast. It was very celebratory and she was ecstastic. Thanks Keith! See you next time!
Jesse was amazing ! He made my experience wonderful, food was great I had sesame chicken and fried rice it was perfect . Also my lychee martinis were bomb ! I would definitely come back to this location again .
I loved my recent experience at P.F. Chang’s. Jesse was a great server! His energy is so contagious and positive and inspiring. My food was lovely too! Will definitely be back.
The food was delicious and everything was really good. The service was excellent as well — Jessy was very friendly, attentive, and made our experience even better. Great service and a great atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Service was great and fast. Alex the bartender made sure I had a great experience, very nice person, he made me a drink that was very flavorful that I enjoyed 🍓❤️food was great, and the manager made sure the guest were doing okay. Def recommend stopping by. 💖
I was at this Union Square location and served by Michael. He welcomed me as soon as I sat down. He came back later, explained the menu and then helped me to scrutinize it. He brought me water and told me to let him know whenever I was ready to order. I really appreciated that because as I am an experienced diner, PF Chang’s menu was new to me. Michael came back, I ordered my lunch, Mongolian beef with a side of a hot and sour soup. I also ordered a glass of wine. Michael told me PF C has a special 1/2 price of a bottle of wine. That saved me money but I was taken aback how nice and thoughtful Michael was. Mongolian beef was really tasty. The H&S soup was ok. All in all, the meal was delicious. Service was exceptional. Atmosphere was excellent. I would come back again. I higher recommend it. Sit in Michael’s station.
This restaurant has more of a luxury Asian vibe with an amazing ambiance and excellent friendly service. Big portions, delicious flavor, and great drinks. Everything here is satisfying and full of flavor.
Jesse was a great service, very hospitable. The food as always was solid and delicious. Definitely worth a visit! The interior is looking a little worn though - and am sad they took out the tree!
Me and my partner came here for dinner before they closed, the service was the fastest i think I’ve ever experienced, waiter and waitress were really nice. California roll was absolutely to die for. The orange chicken was the best I’ve had and fried rice was fantastic. 10/10 experience I recommend. It is on the expensive side but I still think it’s worth it. If you have the money to go, don’t waste your time thinking about it.
Came to P.F. Chang's randomly and it truly turned out to be one of the best possible outcomes I have had in a while. Great atmosphere, amazing food and presentation, drinks were spot on and delightful, and the kind gesture to sing my friend a "Happy Birthday" was the icing on the cake. Our server Melissa was exceptional. What an amazing waitress. Was kind and welcoming, wonderful knowledge of the menu and great recommendations. P.F. has now been added to our rotation of upcoming restaurants in the future. Thank once again for such a memorable moment.
Amazing Solo Experience at P.F. Chang’s I’ve been to this P.F. Chang’s before, but today I came alone—and honestly, it was one of the best experiences I’ve had. I ordered the orange chicken and a strawberry margarita, and everything was delicious. What made it even better was how comfortable and welcomed I felt. I didn’t even feel like I was dining alone because the staff was so attentive and friendly. Huge shoutout to Q, Lexus and Danny—they were amazing the entire time. They checked in just the right amount, made great recommendations, and genuinely made the experience feel special. Definitely recommending this location to anyone, whether you’re coming with friends or solo. I’ll be back for sure!
Came here for a Friday afternoon lunch and had an amazing dining experience. My server, Keith, was so kind and attentive. The food was delicious, and I really appreciated the calm atmosphere of this location. Would definitely come again!
I throughly enjoyed my experience at this P F Chang's in Union Square area. It had very nice atmosphere and a warm reception upon entering the establishment. Our server Lexis was very pleasant and gave us great customer service.I had the Mongolian Tofu with brown rice....Chefs kiss. The food was DEEEEEEEEEEELIOUS!!!! I love when they are attentive. I definitely give them a 10 out of 10 recommend!!!!
10/10 across the board ⭐️ The team at Shuko absolutely nailed it. The food was outstanding, perfectly prepared, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. Service was top-tier: friendly, attentive, and welcoming without being overbearing. The atmosphere was clean, comfortable, and had a great vibe that made the whole experience even better. So sad they are closing! They made us feel super special for our anniversary
I’d heard so many people call Shuko one of the most unique omakase spots in NYC, and from the first bite, I knew exactly why. Every dish felt intentional , clean flavors, rich textures, and an elegance that never tries too hard. The toro was unforgettable, soft, buttery, and truly melt-in-your-mouth amazing. Each course flowed seamlessly into the next, showcasing the chefs’ skill and creativity without ever feeling overwhelming. You can really taste the balance and precision in every piece of sushi. Whether you’re celebrating something special or simply craving an elevated sushi journey, Shuko absolutely delivers. It’s refined, thoughtful, and full of heart, a standout omakase experience in the city.
Shuko is absolutely the best omakase in NYC! This top 50 restaurant in New York City delivers an unparalleled dining experience. The fish, sourced straight from Japan, was unbelievably fresh—the Hokkaido uni was incredible, melting in my mouth, and the otoro was pure perfection. Our chef, Darry, was outstanding, constantly checking to ensure every bite was perfect and genuinely caring about our happiness. When my girlfriend asked for hojicha (not on the menu), Darry went out of his way to check with the team and found some in the back—such thoughtful service! The staff’s attention to detail and willingness to offer off-menu items made us feel so special. The curated music set a fantastic vibe in the intimate setting. For anyone seeking fresh Japanese sushi and an unforgettable omakase experience in NYC, Shuko is a must-visit gem. Highly recommend!
10 out of 10 experience. The Sushi Omakase Experience was amazing. Some of the best fish I have ever had. The Spanish Mackerel with Ginger Root was my favorite. There’s also a staff member walking around with a tub of ginger to give you refills, so if you are like me and love ginger this is your spot. Take your time to speak with the Chef. We discussed each piece and the reason for its selection. The staff was very welcoming and enjoyed my groups curiosity. This place also goes nuts with Uni and Toro. Just a really great time with my brother and sister! It was also my Sister’s Birthday which Shuko went above and beyond with a handwritten note signed by the whole staff! Great Restaurant.
Shuko NYC is the epitome of upscale omakase dining. From the moment you step into the sleek, intimate space, the attention to detail is immediately apparent. The sushi bar itself is a work of art, with a beautifully smooth countertop that is sanded daily, creating a pristine stage for the culinary masterpieces that follow. The food is simply decadent—sourced from the best purveyors, ensuring each bite is of the highest quality. The fish was the most premium I’ve ever enjoyed, with the toro and sweet shrimp especially standing out, their flavors practically singing on the palate. Marin, the beverage director, curates wine and sake pairings that are nothing short of exquisite, each one thoughtfully chosen to elevate the meal in a way that felt seamless yet extraordinary. The toro uni caviar toast was a perfect add-on, a luxurious treat that I still dream about. And the barley ice cream? I’ll remember its subtle, nutty flavor for the rest of my days. Beyond the food, the warmth and gracious hospitality of the staff make the experience even more special. Every detail, from the meticulously prepared dishes to the genuinely welcoming service, reflects a commitment to excellence. Shuko is not just a meal—it’s an experience that stays with you long after you’ve left. An absolute must-visit for anyone who appreciates the art of omakase.
Tremendous sushi making. The rice and fish are well balanced, the flavors were amazing. The selection for the omakase was varied and interesting. The grunt fish, barracuda, golden eyed snapper, Tasmanian trout, uni, and the wagyu were stand outs. The sake selection was great as well, with a wide selection.
Went back in Dec 2021 and eating here was a fantastic experience! The texture of the fish was amazing but I had a stuffy nose that day so I couldn’t distinguish the flavours :(( There are a few chefs working at the bar and each chef takes care of a couple parties (for us it was a total of 6 people/3 couples).
An Omakase style sushi taste testing is a unique experience. You are leaving it up to the chef to pick out what you should eat. They serve one piece at a time. they wait for you to eat it and swallow it before they serve the next piece. so it doesn’t interfere with the taste of the last one. It comes with a hefty price but it’s something you have to try sometime in your life. The place had a nice atmosphere and it was small. the chef and the waitress was giving me some recommendations that taste amazing. They were awesome and extremely friendly.
On the pricier side but it was definitely worth it. Everything was delicious and fresh. We dined in the private room which is at basement level and unfortunately the heater wasn't working so it was a little cold but, despite that, I still enjoyed my experience and would come back! Also, 2 people I was with got the beverage pairing (it's not just sake) and they were very pleasantly surprised with the amount they got for the price. The omakase course ended with some very delicious ice cream and I couldn't resist asking for a second serving of it (which they gave to me on the house!!). Overall I'd recommend it if you are looking for a high quality and unique omakase experience.
This was my first omakase experience, and I admit that I was hesitant because of the price ($228 pp). Shuko was worth every penny and then some. The entrance is unassuming with a speakeasy type of feel, and if you aren’t paying attention (especially at night) you could walk right past it. The interior is intimate and well decorated with the large bar counter as the centerpiece, where you can enjoy watching the chefs work. A lot of reviews complained about the music, but honestly I loved it. It was really cool to be able to vibe out to some R&B and hip hop in an upscale sushi restaurant of all places! For a nicely paced omakase and pleasant conversation with the chef, try a later weekday reservation (8-10 pm) as it’s not too busy. The staff was really friendly, and the service was attentive. Not only was our sushi chef extremely talented, he was also very kind and lovely to talk with. He even prepared an extra special item for us since we were celebrating my husband’s birthday. The selections were to die for. The standouts for me were the uni, the spicy toro with scallion and chili mayo, and the smoky seared Kama toro, which might just be the single best bite of food you ever have in your life. If you’re thinking about splurging on omakase in Manhattan, and DON’T mind an early 2000’s era Ludacris jam session, try Shuko. I promise you’ll leave fulfilled and elated (albeit a little bit more broke).
Came here for my birthday with friends. The best sushi I have ever had! Try omakase! Definitely worth the hype. Everything tasted fresh and looked amazing! I love everything from the ambiance, menu, and service. Everything I had was executed perfectly and tasted even better! Definitely worth a trip if you're thinking about it! Will be back indefinitely!
One of the best Japanese meals and restaurant experience I’ve had. The food is delicious, fresh, creative, beautifully presented and subtly restrained. The entrance of the restaurant says enough - if you know, you know. The sake list is impressive and the service is friendly. They won’t overfuss because they let you be in your own happy space, but they are attentive as required. Would definitely go back- and I personally don’t say that enough for a NY restaurant.
the food was good but could be better, however, the service was AMAZING! everyone was so attentive and kind. our server Angie was fantastic! constantly checked on us and made sure we were well taken care of. will def come back and try other dishes and make sure everyone knows about Angie :)
We dined at P.F. Chang's in January and had the pleasure of being served by Lexus, who truly made our experience exceptional! As a picky eater, I appreciated her patience and attentive listening. Her recommendations were spot on, and I enjoyed trying new dishes thanks to her guidance. While the food was decent, Lexus's welcoming personality and outstanding service made our evening memorable. We'll definitely return, and I look forward to being served by her again!
super intimate vibe and great overall experience. (i can’t really imagine not doing bar seating here, it was so fun seeing everything being made) it was 16 courses for $270 pp i believe with options to do add ons. we spent roughly 2 hours here great cocktail and sake options too. -1 star bc i do always normalize for price and there’s definitely more responsibly priced options in the city for omakase. there’s also no sign outside which is kinda cool
Don't get me wrong...I know everyone wanted to see five stars. I wish I could give 4.5 instead of 4. This is not your traditional omakase but still very very good. The service was absolutely amazing. Even the bar tender walked around to check on everyone. Additionally they have a massive collection of Japanese whisky's to try. I'd definitely say come once if you're a huge omakase fan but I dunno if I'd be a repeat customer because at the price point there are so many options. I purely couldn't find the differentiator between here and other omakase aside service
Great service and delicious omakase. The servers were very nice and attentive. The sushi chef also well paced and thoughtful. Knocking off a star because of the type of crowd this place attracts. Super bro-y and annoyingly loud. Not a fan of the clubby scene and music while I'm trying to enjoy sushi.
I came here to celebrate my birthday with a group of friends. We were able to book the private dinning room which was really nice. The room could seat 6 people comfortably and was away from everyone else. The cost for one person was $280 with the possibility of changing out the second course for a milk bread topped with caviar, toro and Uni. The food overall was fresh. Everything tasted good much like most high end omakase places in the city. The waiters and waitresses were knowledgeable about the fish that was used for the sushi and where it came from. My only issue was that they offered the upgrade for the second course and didn’t tell us the price. It is on us for not asking but seeing an extra $120 charge per upgrade was not expected so just be on the lookout if you decided to upgrade the second course. Overall, Shuko has great fresh sushi but when compared to other omakase in New York City, it doesn’t blow anything out of the water. For me personally, I’d rather go to a place like Sushi Nakazawa where it’s $100 cheaper, the sushi is just as good and you get more pieces.
Need to preface this by saying that I’m a purist when it comes to Japanese fine dining. Went with the Kaiseki option because all these review sites recommended it. Everything was tasty for sure, but caviar-topped toro on toast will taste like caviar + toro on toast. My favourite was the simple dashi broth just before the 15 nigiri course. The nigiri course started with...toro, which is disappointing because you generally want to build the taste profile as you go along instead of starting with the strongest tasting fish. The rice was a little too brittle and didn’t bind the fish and wasabi as well as it should. Admittedly, I was also already full from all the prior dishes, which didn’t help. If you’re eating for volume, you might enjoy the variety. Not so much if you’re looking for balance.
For a place with such a pretty ambiance and somewhat high prices, the food and service were overall disappointing. When we first walked into the restaurant, we were excited to try everything - but the hostess didn’t even acknowledge us. She was on the phone, but she could’ve at least glanced over or nodded to let us know she saw us. Instead, we stood there awkwardly until what seemed to be a bartender came over and silently pointed at seats. No greeting, no “hi,” no welcome, not even a smile. It was a strange first impression, but we were hungry, so we brushed it off. The menu felt a bit all over the place. The wine glasses were dirty, unpolished, and had visible stains. We ordered the miso lobster dumplings, which came out lukewarm - not even close to hot. The sauce was good, but the dumplings themselves lacked flavor and were mushy. For a twenty-dollar appetizer, we expected much better. My girlfriend ordered a Caesar salad with salmon, and while the salad tasted good, the salmon was dry. It was also unclear on the menu how much the salmon upcharge was. We also tried the crab wontons and the Mongolian beef with lo mein. Every single dish came out lukewarm (Hence why we thought everything was frozen), and the funny part is that we sent the crab wontons back because of an issue, and when they returned, they were actually hotter than when we first got them. The presentation on the dishes was nice, though. As for service, we were never given water, and when we finally asked, it took a while. The server offered me a refill on my Coke and brought it quickly, but never checked in with my girlfriend about anything. He was kind, just seemed very laid-back and a bit slow but other than that we enjoyed his service. I also asked for a dinner menu and never received it. And this wasn’t during a rush; the place was slow when we arrived at 3 p.m. We also really enjoyed the chocolate souffle, it was really yummy a good choice for dessert. We might give it another shot in the future, but definitely hope for a better experience next time. Hope the feedback helps improve the place.
I visit this PF Chang’s location frequently, and often order the kids chicken fried rice to-go as it is reasonably priced and easy for me to eat quickly in between a busy schedule. The employees are very kind and quick! However, today while finishing the rest of my kids chicken fried rice, I took a bite of the chicken, and felt something very sharp and hard poke my cheek. I spit it out, and the chicken had a piece of bone. I am concerned because as a former waitress of PF Chang’s, I have never witnessed bones in the chicken used for fried rice, but also because this is supposed to be a KIDS meal. Though I am disturbed, I am thankful this meal wasn’t given to a child as the bone is a choking hazard and could have easily cut the inside of my mouth. Keep in mind I typically order this meal multiple times a month, and this is the first I’ve encountered bones in the food. PF Changs, please do better.
The restaurant looks beautiful, but that’s where the compliments end. The food and service were a huge disappointment. It was our first time here — me, my husband, and his son — and for the quality of the Asian food, I’d give it one star at best. The portions were tiny, my rice was wet, and either the cook got the order wrong or the waiter did. To make things worse, my seasoned chicken sat for about 15 minutes before the rice finally showed up — completely ruining the meal. For the prices they charge, the food should taste a lot better and come out together. I honestly wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. I ended up walking across the street to Little Italy Pizza afterward because I was still hungry — and that pizza tasted way better than what I had here. Pretty place, terrible experience.
