Opinions de Sugar Hill Café New York
Great coffee, yummy food/ pastries. Fun music always playing there. Great for one on one hangs.
Not only is the environment incredibly welcoming, but the service is speedy and efficient. The charisma from each member of the staff truly shifted my desire from eating in the park to dining in.
I love this place. I've been here countless times, and the service is always quick in the morning when I most need my coffee. The coffee is delicious and the baristas are generally on point with their espressos and latte drinks, though some of the baristas are exceptionally good. I love the pastries, especially the monkey bread and I never miss a chance to get the French toast.
Very good place, there are guys who will help you serve your coffee, you just have to say OYK and also "Notti bopping punching my hips"
Awesome coffee and French toast. Always good here. Staff always friendly and a nice place to just be. Love the atmosphere. Real cozy.
Sugar Hill Cafe is a cozy place for work or socializing (or both!) with reliably yummy offerings. But what made me want to write this review today is to shout out Azara for her uniquely awesome service my last visit. Friendly, warm, and welcoming are understatements. Being treated like family truly made my day. Will be sure to return soon.
Delightful staff!! One of the warmest receptions from any batistas in Harlem. An excellent spot to hole up against harsher weather and get some work done.
Absolute favorite coffee and cafe in Hamilton heights! All the baristas are excellent, you’ll get very good lattes every time! They have a full kitchen and food is also excellent!
Although it's a small place, food is amazing. Choose this based on google reviews. Visited for brunch around 11am. Was crowded. I had Sugar Hill Classic (Sunny Side Up) with Siam Basil Lemongrass Tea. - The tea was exceptional...! My husband had Ooo La Lai French Toast with Matcha Latte. We both enjoyed our selections.
Sugar Hill Cafe is a great place to unwind, detox from the city and or start the day off with a smile! Pleasant, smart, courteous and unpretentious staff are the kind of people you want around not just in your cafe but in the world. The coffee is made with care, unlike on an assembly line (Starbucks etc) and devilishly delectable pastries. Overall the ambience is a treat, an oasis in an otherwise less than savory area.
This is the best place to come to enjoy a coffee and breakfast or brunch. The service is amazing and they make me feel very confident here. I love it
Very cute spot with warm, friendly staff. Was a great spot to stop in for a weekday breakfast. Interested in checking out their weekend brunch!
First off- the vibes here are fantastic so cozy and inviting. Secondly, the staff are phenomenal every time my Fiance and I come in we’re always greeted no matter the time of day- and the staff always make conversation with us. And third- the coffee and food is incredible 10/10 would always recommend. My go to is the iced vanilla caramel latte with macadamia nut milk. True community staple
Service is always warm and friendly. Good cup of coffee! Charming, cozy environment. This is why I stop by every morning.
This is an adorable place tucked under the street! Blink and you’ll miss it so watch for the sign on the wall. Pleasant staff, warm and atmosphere. Large variety of food and beverages choices. I only had coffee, but I loved just being in the space. It’s not large and not accessible due to stairs, but a great place to stop and study.
Very friendly staff welcomed us after a few days of coming here, and even gave us a souvenir. Coffee is legit
The Service Was Great And The Food Was Delicious I Will Definitely Go Back To The Cafe. I Had Their Eggs Bennie, Which Was 2 Poached Eggs Resting On Crisp Canadian Ham Patty In Top Of English Muffin, House Salad, With Home-fries Also For Drink I Had Lavender Agave Latte Which Was Pretty Good As Well.
i come here all the time. came in the blizzard and they handed out free pastries. 10/10 recommend this spot
Favorite coffee spot in the area! Very friendly staff who always gives great recommendations! Caramel latte with an extra shot of espresso is my personal favorite!
I’m a black coffee person. And by that, I mean I’m a coffee snob, and grind my own beans (you can roll your eyes, I do). But the vanilla caramel latte I had here is what I wish all lattes I’ve ever had could be. The only better coffee I’ve had in life was an egg coffee in Vietnam, so if you’re not planning on heading there for brunch I’d recommend getting a coffee here. The service is super lovely, friendly, and the atmosphere is cosy. I also noticed the few times I’ve popped in that there are constant regulars who seem to know everyone well. In a time of impersonal coffee chains, it’s so nice to have a feeling of true community in the form of a neighborhood coffee shop. Edited to add: I just tried the Korean omelette because it was recommended. I’m not an omelette fan but I eat for health so I figured I’d try it. I’m not kidding when I say this is the most beautifully flavoured omelette I’ve ever had. It’s not too subtle and not too much, and I’m afraid I’ll have to be make a whole new omelette budget in my life now….
Gorgeous, tucked away little coffee spot. Amazing service, and food looks really yummy too. Will definitely be back!
Such a cozy spot feels so cute and European! Isabella always gives the best service always welcoming and friendly. Can’t recommend their place enough!
This cafe is super cute--great food and service! I love their egg and cheese and lox benedict! Chill vibes :)
I really enjoyed the music, food & coffee ( latte). The barista Ty was friendly & very good at taking my order ( I got the BTrain breakfast sandwich). It's so nice to see & hear staff greet everyone that comes through the door!! I encourage everyone to support local businesses especially this one! Easy to get to by train & bus.
Cute and cozy little cafe. It’s very small, but they have wall shelf seating if you’re just having coffee. They also have a $5 egg and cheese on a brioche bun or bagel. Total for the items in the photos was $27 with tax and tip. Not too expensive, but not cheap for breakfast. The omelette was $12. Green tea latte was great. Get their melted butter for your toast and put a bit of salt on (so good).
We're from Melbourne, so naturally we are breakfast and coffee snobs.. and this place was a small spot of heavenly goodness. By far the best coffee we had in NYC and the staff were bloody fantastic.
Stepping into Sugarhill Cafe is always a little bright spot in my day here in the city. They truly nail the coffee – it's consistently delicious, with a rich aroma and satisfying flavor. Their cappuccino, in particular, is a real treat; the espresso has a lovely depth, and the milk is steamed to a perfect, silky texture. Beyond the excellent brews, their blueberry danish is something special. It's got this wonderful creamy richness punctuated by juicy bursts of blueberry, all resting on a beautifully crumbly base. Trust me, it's the kind of dessert you'll want to savor slowly. Pairing it with their expertly made cappuccino is just chef's kiss – the flavors complement each other perfectly. However, what really makes Sugarhill Cafe stand out is their top-notch customer service. The team there is just so welcoming and friendly. They're efficient and attentive, always ready with a smile and a kind word. It's clear they take pride in what they do and genuinely appreciate their customers. In a city where interactions can sometimes feel rushed, Sugarhill Cafe offers a refreshing sense of community and care. It's more than just a coffee shop; it's a place where you feel good from the moment you walk in. If you're looking for fantastic coffee, delectable treats, and truly outstanding service, Sugarhill Cafe is a must-visit!
I placed a big drink order this morning that created quite a line, but Blue handled it like a pro. She was quick and still attentive to everyone else. Great service!
Went here on the recommendation of a friend and boy, am I glad I did! Cozy underground coffee shop and cafe. Great quality coffee with a couple of unique drinks, as well as tasty pastries. I’m quite picky about my coffee, and this place does it for me. There’s nothing more disappointing then getting a coffee/latte with a burnt taste, that you need to cover up with cream and sugar. I’ve also found that a lot of shops tend to be inconsistent, especially with different baristas or different times of day. Both times I went here, the coffee was good and that was with two different baristas. Score! Very good things to say about the lavender agave latte! I love it. My girlfriend had the caramel latte, which was also great. Tried the almond croissant which was very tasty as well. A touch too buttery for me, but overall, super delicious (and what you get a pastry for 😋). Pricing is normal for a coffee shop. Anywhere from $3.50-$5.00 for your cup. Definitely getting your worth here though! Will definitely keep returning here and recommend to others! #sugarhill #coffee #cafe #café #pastry #lavenderagavelatte #sugarhillcafe #underground #cozy
I had a specialty coffee (peppermint mocha) that had good flavor and was reasonably priced. The space is small but has a lot of character. They have an extensive menu with drinks and food. The food looked great and I would get it next time I go! Update: Got the iced chai latte and it’s decent (see photo). The iced vanilla latte is good!
I've been hoping someone would raise the bar locally. The cuisine and employee attention were remarkable. You'll find tasty options that are reasonably priced. Sugar Hill Cafe provided solid service while I enjoyed time with friends. This restaurant provides quality I'm happy to discuss.
I stopped in briefly for a latte on a Friday afternoon and the service was pretty quick. The lavender latte was great. I would stop by again for a drink.
Great local place! The breakfast items are fantastic. Love the Hamilton. The kind of place I take my mom to for a quick brunch bite when she visits the city or grab a quick local cup of coffee.
I recently visted New York for the first time and Sugar Hill Cafe was one of the highlights of my trip! The drink was delicious, and the service was incredible. I liked it so much that I brought my house mate back with me the second day!
Jordan and Isabella took incredible care of me; I love stopping in here on my walk to the B/D train in the morning as I head to school but particularly this one morning after a few successive visits, I felt at home in their humor and incredible friendlessness. How else can someone say the Vibes were Immaculate. Please slide. Also, cozy atmosphere inside.
I am so happy I tried this place. The staff were awesome, the coffee is better than two other places I've tried during my vacation and the Italian omelet was the best. Come try for yourself!
The baristas understood the assignment and they gave us a little spoon and saucer for our espresso for the whimsy!! Such a delight, truly making the world better 🙂↕️
This café is delightful. The staff is so friendly and a joy to interact with. Their coffee is so flavorful and really gets my workday commute in motion. The decor is supercute and cozy. They also have an amazing community bulletin board which has helped me find community in a neighborhood I’ve only been living in a short time. I highly recommend Sugar Hill Café!
I can't resist Sugar Hill Cafe - breakfast is my favorite. I usually go for the eggs - benedict - but the pastries are excellent. They have Plowshares, so local NY coffee, which I appreciate. The staff is also so kind and genuine. Sugar Hill Cafe's owner is a neighbor and has contributed a lot of great ideas and work for the local business group - a real mensch. Recommend!
Had a great brunch here! Isabella and Forrest were warm and welcoming and our food and coffee were delicious! Will definitely be coming back soon.
Best coffee in Hamilton Heights. Most places that can brew good espresso get drip all wrong but this place does BOTH phenomenally. Shout out to Blue and Isa as well for the friendliest service even on early weekday mornings.
I really love this place! The food and coffee are top notch. Love the avocado toast and the B-train. Their drip coffee is 😮💨😮💨. I’ve been going there for some time my two favorite baristas are Grace and Isabella. They are quirky, fun and always make my mornings before work feel special. ❤️
Sugarhill Cafe has truly become my go-to spot in New York, and for good reason! First and foremost, their coffee is fantastic – consistently rich, flavorful, and expertly brewed. Whether I'm grabbing a quick espresso or lingering over a perfectly crafted cappuccino with its velvety smooth microfoam, I'm never disappointed. And speaking of treats, you absolutely must try their blueberry cheesecake. The creamy texture, the bursts of sweet and tart blueberries, and that buttery crust create a truly divine experience. It pairs perfectly with their cappuccino, making for an ideal little indulgence. But what elevates Sugarhill Cafe from just a good coffee shop to a truly exceptional one is their excellent customer service. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with genuine warmth and a smile. The baristas are not only efficient but also incredibly friendly and attentive. They remember your order, offer helpful suggestions, and create a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel like a valued regular. Even during the hustle and bustle of the city, they maintain a sense of calm and care. You leave Sugarhill Cafe not just with a delicious coffee and perhaps a slice of that incredible blueberry danish, but also with a feeling of having been genuinely looked after. It's a delightful neighborhood gem that offers both quality and exceptional service – highly, highly recommended!
My first time walking by the café, I could smell the coffee the bacon it’s like a little kept secret down a few flight of stairs. The atmosphere and vibe is really nice and the food is delicious.
Sugar hill cafe is the best, it’s the coziest nook and the baristas make it even better. The service is great and food is dope! Visit when you’re in the area!
10s across the board! Love this place. I come here frequently, I love the signature drinks and the holiday menus.
Amazing food! It's a very cozy cafe serving incredible food! I had the kimchi Korean omelet and a passion fruit lemonade with was so so good!!! Loved the ambiance. They also have a cute corner with beautiful earrings and other accessories. We had a great time that I forgot to take photos of everything 😭
Incredible cafe! I love the smoked salmon avocado toast and their breakfast sandwiches. The baristas are also amazing, the selection of drinks they have are tasty and they have such a cozy environment. Easily a must visit when you’re in Harlem!
Finding this place is like uncovering a wonderful secret. I love this friendly and cheerful cafe for a lunch break in the workday. Get an omelette! They also serve a huge variety of hot and cold beverages with fun seasonal specials. Good prices too. A real neighborhood favorite.
So nice to have this cozy cafe in the neighborhood. Love stopping in for yummy egg sandwiches and good coffee. Staff is nice and friendly. Today they closed early due to the storm and they gave us leftover pastries ❤️❤️❤️
I’ve come here on a few occasions & the food & service never disappoints. The atmosphere is comfortable, moody & inviting. Grab & go or stay & relax- either way SHC is a great choice. The French toast is delish, the sandwiches are filling, the pastries are yummy, the holiday drinks are exceptional & the staff are genuinely lovely. 💖 Give SHC a try or return for more goodness. Enjoy!
This place is incredible! From friendly staff to delicious food, Sugar Hill Cafe is great. The Avocado toast and French toast were outstanding. They have a large selection of delicious coffee. 10/10 experience!
Arrived 15 mins early for a brunch date w one person.......staff assured me space would open up!! I wanted quiet space in the back....staff welcomed me to sit at table for four in the back!!! (Who does that?) Quality of food and beverages very good!! Place is clean. What especially amazed me is how cordial ALL the other customers were. I think the ambiance at the Cafe sets the tone!!!
Wow. Just wow. Found this hidden place while we were walking around. First it started with just a coffee, later we returned for a break and some food. The tiny but really charming place was perfect for this, the staff is great. We will definitly return to this place. Great job guys
A lovely little café that we found by coincidence few weeks ago. Today we went back because the french toast is the best, so fluffy and with fresh berries, the avocado toast very well prepared and tasty. The coffee latte superb but they offer a big variety of hot and cold drinks as well as baked goods. Personel is welcoming and friendly. Wish I lived closer, I’d make this my to-go-to café.
This has been my go to cafe spot since moving to the city 3 years ago. The staff are always so kind, the food is top notch and the vibes are immaculate. Blue and Ellie are the BEST! If you live in the area or find yourself exploring Hamilton Heights, you would be remised to pass this place up!
My husband and I had choose to have breakfast at Sugar Hill Cafe and were so glad we did. The staff are incredibly sweet. I had the iced matcha latte and my husband had an iced chai and they were so smooth and not sweet at all. The breakfast we had was very delightful. We highly recommended this cozy cafe!
Sugar Hill Cafe is a true gem! The staff are incredibly warm and welcoming — they make you feel like family the moment you walk in. The service is fast yet relaxed, and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. Their menu is full of delicious options - from fresh pastries to flavorful lattes and creative brunch choices. Every dish is beautifully presented and packed with flavor. Whether you're stopping by for a quick coffee or a leisurely meal, Sugarhill Cafe never disappoints! Highly recommended.
Sugar Hill has been my regular neighborhood cafe for years. I love the breakfast sandwiches and nothing beats the French toast on the weekends after a long night of partying. I also do every morning for a latte and sometimes I try the special drinks, of which the pumpkin spice latte is my fave. It gets really busy for brunch so I recommend going early and often. Prices are typical and the service is always top.
Best coffee shop in Harlem! Amazing staff and great vibes. I’m really impressed with their recent facelift. I’ve been coming for years and my favorite is the Avo Toast. I also go for the double shot of A-train espresso when my body needs a jolt! I also love their newest addition the berry tart. I couldn’t recommend this hidden gem enough!!!
This is my first time at Sugar hill Cafe, despite living in the neighborhood. I loved the kindness and honesty from the employee. I ordered "The sophisticated" avocado toast and it is SCRUMPTIOUS. Lastly, I loved working here. I did not feel pressured to buy or rush! My only suggestion would be getting gluten free options. Despite that, I highly recommend this cafe.
Nice and cozy place for a quick breakfast. Price is reasonable and the food is good, with a friendly staff. Recommend.
It was definitely worth the trip. The ceiling and decor around the restaurant is really pretty. The set up is a bit complicated because you are expected to order online and pick it up, but then eat inside. Regardless it was very nice. We also got the sticky wings and the portion was plentiful— just a little too much salt
I really love the cozy, inviting vibe of this cafe. The space is small but charming, with a warm atmosphere that feels perfect for a relaxed morning or catching up with a friend. They offer a wide variety of brunch options, and everything I’ve tried has been delicious. The service is friendly, definitely a spot I’d come back to.
Cozy little place, good for breakfast on the go. I find their breakfast sandwiches outrageously expensive compared to anywhere else in this specific neighborhood. Their avocado toast is actually very well priced, pretty huge and filling too. Employees are super friendly. All in all I do enjoy going here for breakfast or to grab a cup of coffee.
I think it's Me. I think I (hope) that people are happy to be in the service industry. Sadly I am realizing that isn't always the case. We came here for breakfast this past Saturday 7.6.24 myself, Little Bit and my grandkids it was like pulling teeth to get more simple syrup for my Arnold Palmer and when I asked specifically that my Eggs Benedict 'poached' eggs be prepared runny... I received a look of "well of duh" yet they weren't runny. I will say this though the hollandaise sauce was on POINT and the bacon was good too. My bad that I didn't realize (nor apparently read) that it didn't come with a crumpet or english muffin as it's vessel LOL The french toast was sooooo good too oh and the breakfast potatoes Manifique! All in all if you are in the area and you want something tasty that hit's the spot in your tummy come here! Street parking can be found and it's a short walk from the subway station. They have outdoor seating but we moseyed our way down the steps to where the restaurant was and sat inside. They had a communal table as well as 2 tops and (1) 4 in the rear by the restroom. Air conditioning too for these hot summer months is always a plus while dining. Respectfully Reviewed.
A chill vibe and good food is what you’ll find at this place. I had the peppermint mocha, cold brew, and the green omelette. I was extremely happy with the food. It had a perfect balance and was cooked just right. They have a decent cook. The coffee was smooth and had a nice flavour. The interior was cozy and unpretentious. The barista was humble and easy going. The price was standard and well worth it.
Came in with family members for the first time. The French Toast was delicious as were all our hot drinks. The rest of us ordered egg dishes- Omelette and Eggs Benedict. Our meals were not hot, luke warm at best. We told them we were dining in, and would be using the outside seating. We had to go inside to grab our meals as they didn't bring it to us. We also cleaned our own tables. You have the order/pay first, if we had known they didn't serve the food/clean the tables, we wouldn't have left a tip when ordering.
The place is cute and cozy, and I've been here a couple of times. The coffee is quite good, making it a nice spot to enjoy a cup and relax. However, I've noticed that the lady who works here can be in a bad mood sometimes, which affects the vibe a bit. It’s a small downside to an otherwise pleasant coffee shop experience.
I’ve actually never left a google review before, but I’ve never felt more inclined to do so than after my experience here today. While the food here is decently priced for its quality, I’ve had an unpleasant experience with staff members on multiple occasions. The cafe is very cramped, which can become stressful, but the staff seemed to work against these circumstances, not with them. In today’s case, I felt that one of the baristas was especially rude to my party for no apparent reason other than the store was crowded. I will personally never come back, and I would never recommend this place to a friend - which is a shame because this place has lots of potential.
