Wow!!! Wonderful place, Christmas decorations are up already!! Fabulous breakfast - couldn't eat for the rest of the day..... Excellent service - Hilda was such a lovely, kind, courteous hostess. Thank you Hilda. Such a lovely, caring lady, with a beautiful heart ❤️.
My best recommendation for this excellent Irish Pub. I have eaten fish & chips in London and Australia and they do not compare to the ones I have eaten here, they are really delicious. The service is truly exceptional. Also, excellent quality beers Very good atmosphere.
This is the best bar/restaurant I have visitas in all New York. I am from Houston and loved it. The best manager james and best service kelsey fionn and john. I one hundred percent recomendar coming here.
John an awesome bartender !!! Such a nice guy .... Me and my friends we get some beer and he very kindly put on TV the Mexican final soccer match. He is going back to Ireland for a month. Defenetly coming back on Sunday just to get a very good service from this great bartender! And his barback .... So cool ...I don't know his name.... Defenetly recommended this nice place !!
Let me preface this by saying I haven't been in person yet, only ordered delivery. However, I'll make it a point to go there soon as what I've experienced so far was great. Food is absolutely delicious. Simple fare, not trying to reinvent the wheel in any way, just putting out really good food. Had some great bangers and mash, fried chicken sandwich, chicken pot pie and Irish breakfast. Chicken pot pie was delivered with the top crust packaged separately so it doesn't get soggy. Small detail, but it really makes all the difference.
Here for the weekend and this place was right around the corner. Reviewed the menu outside prior to going in. It seemed a little high but after eating I was happy. I had the beef stew on this cold and windy day, it hit the spot. It was a big bowl full of stew. The flavor was rustic and flavorful. The holiday mule was a good pairing. I recommended the dish to another couple as I was leaving. If I come back to New York City I will definately eat here again.
Great pint of Guinness. Did not eat but the food looked great!!
Great food, fabulous service, terrific atmosphere. Was in NYC for a week and ate there 3 times!
My wife and I had 3 amazing meals and drinks at this well catered Irish Pub. The staff were all bubbly and happy to serve everyone. The Pub had an amazing atmosphere. Particularly Marsha & Kelsey who made our visits very special. Great decor and we believe this to be the Best Irish Pub in NYC. Best service we have had in our 8 weeks in USA.
5 nights in NYC went every day for dinner . Food was amazing . Staff especially Marsha were so nice very friendly and helpful highly recommended.
While strolling to our Broadway show, stopped for Grilled Angus burgers, cooked a perfect medium rare with cheddar, and a Guinese Zero. Generous portions at typical $20 price point, fresh veggies, great fries, fast & friendly service. Will go again & recommend it for a place in the middle of the midtown hustle & bustle!
My friend and I were in town, singing at a concert. We popped in on Friday night for a quick bite (best ever clam chowder)and drink. Kelcy was our server, so friendly, we came back that evening and had onion rings (yum) and a drink. Came back Saturday afternoon for lunch Shepherds Pie (another yum), again Saturday night after a rehearsal, drinks and onion rings(more yum), Sunday for dinner, shared Guinness beef stew (soooo good) Sunday evening after the concert, James (from our home state, Oregon) was awesome, I didn't get the names of beautiful African-American hostess, but she felt like an old friend and even remembered us. The whole staff made us fell at home. We came in for lunch on Monday and to say goodbye. The made us feel like they will miss us! This will definitely be our go to place in NYC!!!!
Julieanne is amazing. Get the burger and nachos!! Best hazy IPA in town
My wife and I made a quick trip to NYC to see fam and go to a ballgame. We wandered in from our hotel a couple blocks away and What an amazing fateful decision we made. Had so much fun the first night we came back the next night and had an even better time! This pub was so welcoming and full of energy and joy! An Irish pub for the ages in NYC, we met Jackie the manager and she shared so many stories and was just an absolute blast to chat with, Fione the bartender (from Dublin) was a blast, we never had an empty drink, John the other bartender was terrific as well. There were people there from all of the country and the globe. The singer/guitarist made sure to include everyone in the place. I cannot say it LOUD ENOUGH, THIS PUB IS AMAZING AND YOU WILL NOT FEEL ANY MORE WELCOME HERE THAN ANYWHERE ELSE IN MANHATTEN THAN WE FELT! Thanks Jackie, from the Jersey girl & the Cornhusker!
The bangers and mash was rock solid. Will try to make it back for the Shepards Pie before heading home. The two gluten free folks in the party were extremely pleased with the burgers. The high school senior in our party said to give it six stars, which is high praise from the non-foodie.
We were seated immediately with a great crowd of people. The atmosphere was just right for an Irish pub. We were served our Guinness drafts in a tall glass with very cold dark beer. The apps and food were great. The Sheppards pie had the perfect balance of filling and mashed potatoes. The fish and chips had a nice portion of fish. Very satisfying. I would highly recommend this place on the weekends. Great customer service. The wait staff was always available to assist us with any questions or to order more food.
Spent a whole week in new york been to 50 irish pubs by far the best. Guinness is the best I've tasted. Julienne with 2 E's is the best bartender
Midtown has lost a number of great pubs and restaurants since the pandemic. P. McDaid's now is truly the nicest Irish Pub in Midtown Manhattan. The restaurant is beautiful inside, the pub food is excellent, and most importantly, this establishment has, by far, the best bartenders in all of Midtown. A must visit place if you're looking for a great Irish Pub.
One of the best Hamburgers I have ever eaten!! Fresh, cooked at the perfection, juicy, bacon, cheese, pickles and more!!! All super tasty!! 😋
Best service and best food at a late hour. Kitchen closes at 12AM make sure to come here if ur in desperate need of a meal late night. Genuinely amazing coming from the pickiest person!!!
Just a solid Irish pub. Always busy for a reason. Good service and drink.
Only found this pub last night of our stay, Mcdades was absolutely amazing, truly an Irish bar home from Home, John the barman was brilliant, a true gent, knows his business inside out, realy frendly, you are lucky to have him. He will go a long way,
Really enjoyed the food and drinks. Definitely would go back and recommend to others.
Great choice near the hotels. Great service and food! We loved the burger!
Hospitality was amazing, Anthony was a amazing person helped me out with choices of cocktails
Went here with family, after a show at Radio City Music Hall. Service was impeccable, they checked on us many times. Food was delicious, kids and parents were very happy, and my wife enjoyed her espresso martini. And the Irish pub atmosphere is perfect.
We were on our last day in Manhattan and we called in here for some food. Good portions, friendly staff and accommodating. If I ever get back I will look to visit again.
Big fan of the bar! Seriously delicious french onion soup. Good saltiness, perfect amount of cheese and croutons are still crunchy. Chicken quesadilla was really good too. Mike the bar man is a gem. Very friendly and will put on whatever sport you're looking for. Will come back when I'm in the area.
Everything in this unassuming pub is fantastic. In a city that only seems to sell only fast food everywhere, this little gem sells quality food. The menu has multiple choices. I watched other people getting their food, and it all looked amazing. No streaky bacon here, just proper rashers and sausages. The batter and the fish were beautiful. The shepards pie was so tasty. Lots of meat and vegetables are covered by creamy mash potatoes. The chesecake was rich and creamy with a lovely buscuit base. We called back for the fried breakfast, and it was gorgeous. The prices actually shocked us. The prices were on par or lower then a diner but the service and food quality was outstanding. Of course, a few pints were also had, which were also very drinkable. The staff were very attentive and friendly. They couldn't do enough for us. This pub is only a few minutes' walk from Times Square and certainly worth the walk. I would highly recommend McDaids.
Find an excuse to check out this restaurant soon. The restaurant's central position matches its excellent service. The taste profiles here are excellent. People praise this spot, so I wanted to see for myself. This place has my enduring business.
Best service experience we have had in NYC! Day before Thanksgiving, staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Chicken barley soup is outstanding. We’ll be back!
I came in for a lovely evening before the theater and was immediately greeted by the manager, Anthony, who was very friendly and kind, setting a wonderful tone from the start. The bar was packed, but I was still able to find a seat and felt well taken care of. Julian made me a fantastic espresso martini and suggested a few menu items. I had the fish and chips and the cheeseburger, both of which were great portions and perfect before the show. Fionn later recommended the cheesecake, which was very impressive not too filling, airy, and easy to enjoy. Overall, I will absolutely be back. Thank you so much to the entire team for such a fantastic experience.
We ate here every night of our recent stay in NYC , what a great place it is, great choice of food, fantastic quality, fair price, lovely friendly staff. Glad we found it and would not hesitate to recommend it, we were staying just around the corner so only a short walk to and from our hotel, recommend the fish & Chips and the sausage and mash!
This place is amazing. The food is delicious. The staff are incredible. A big shout out to Hilda who we had twice as our waitress for providing exceptional service both times we were there.
On vacation in NYC and staying around the corner. Saw this place and gave it a try and it was great. We had the fish and chips, Shepard pie, the Ruben and the specialty burger. Food was all amazing, good portions and well valued. Highly recommend! Atmosphere was very Irish pub and the drinks were great and varied. Staff was quick and friendly.
We loved this restaurant! We stumbled upon it when we were craving burgers (one beef burger and one beyond plant based burger). We saw Irish pub and the saw all the beautiful Christmas decorations and we were sold. We also had to be in and out in 45 min because of other plans. They were amazing! And I wish. We could have stayed longer. The burgers were perfect. Our beer was delicious (Sam Octoberfest). And the ambiance was perfect! We will definitely be back when we can spend even longer here.
This was a nice atmosphere that really reminded us of our travels to Ireland. I followed another reviewers recommendation about their kid getting the penne ala vodka and my daughter hasn’t stopped talking about it since. We also ordered the fish and chips and the chicken pot pie both with absolutely no complaints. The atmosphere in here was comfortable and our waitress was polite and attentive as well
A great Irish pub! We come here time to time for a pint. Recently, we came after a concert at Carnegie Hall and met the conductor who just performed there — it’s a spot for everyone! The live music was amazing and made the whole experience so very enjoyable. Only the greatest praise for the singer, who was very engaging with the crowd.
Restaurant is near our hotel. Initially we thought it looked a little commercial/touristy. Once inside it's a neat place that has been open since 2022. Place doesn't have a kid specific menu. Ours ended up loving the penne alla vodka so much that we ordered a second dish for them. Would I recommend this place, yes. It's a great little place to stop and enjoy the food/drinks.
Irish people serving behind the bar and a good friendly atmosphere
Really great service from the waitress, hostess, even the door man. Drinks were great. But it was super duper hot and stale inside. So instead, we opted to sit outside in the shade in 96 degree heat.
Great food, took a while to be served (we got up to check as we weren't sure if we ordered at the bar or if a waiter takes our order). Staff were friendly enough. It's quite loud in the building so would recommend you go elsewhere for a first/intimate date but great if you want to get rowdy with mates.
Probably the best pub in NYC I’ve ever been to. Just steps away from Time Square in midtown. I had the beef stew with the house lager and their cider. The prices were very reasonable. I didn’t expect to get as much stew that came. The stew was hot, tender and juicy. The house beer was just right and the cider which was hot and spicy is just what was needed on a cold NYC day.
Hmmm, not really sure how to write this one up. The whole experience was just kind of bland. On the positive side, the drinks are lovely. They don't come quickly, but very nice when they arrive. Our server was nice, she had a big table next to us and she was pretty busy, so I'm giving her 4 stars. We split a chicken quesadilla and a hummus plate, and I am still trying to figure out where they hid the flavor in both of them. Not bad food, just incredibly bland food. The location is just north of the super touristy area so maybe that's what their customer base is looking for and it's me that is the outlier. Hard to say. Nothing in NYC is cheap, including this pub, the prices are kind of middle of the road like the food. Drinks are kind of pricey, but worth it. If I were to stop in again, that's all I would order and I would probably really enjoy it.
Severly understaffed for a weekend. Only one server on a Sunday with a packed restaurant. Took very long to get water or order. The food had good flavor I got the cheese curry fries and the drinks were good. The bathroom not the cleanest and another restaurant charging fees for paying with card. I was charged double the fee. The two people with me were charged 1.75 and I was charged 3.50. Not sure why all these restaurants are breaking the law but I guess they don't care.
We liked McDaid’s an old fashioned Irish long bar we were served promptly but the servers were rather quiet and there was little interaction we didn’t eat but saw some people eating it looked good. We would come back again the beer was very good and the prices reasonable 👍
These employees and the owner behind the two officers are maybe kind to their customers inside their establishment but not outside to the general public. I just watched footage of their security smacking a phone out of a citizens hand while he was live and stepping on it once it hit the ground. That's straight despicable. Then the owner tries to defend the security guard once the citizen was upset saying it was recorded. Once police arrived they had to pay for the gentlemen's phone. And the other people that involved themselves were just extremely rude. You can't treat the people like this especially if you want them to Dine in. I can only imagine if someone dining in would complain about a dish. They might kick you out and put it under customer satisfaction.
Manager is incredibly rude. Spent $1000 and was told by the hostess we could sit at the tables. Manager with the gauges yelled at us. Do you want to make money? I’d like to call the owner of the bar and let them know about the absolute cash bleed of a man running the floor.
Disgraceful Excuse for an Irish Bar I came in hoping for a proper Irish breakfast and left wondering if I’d been pranked. First off, the service was abysmal. It took 20 minutes just to be acknowledged, and when the server finally arrived, she acted like taking our order was the biggest inconvenience of her day. No smile, no welcome, just a grunt and a pad. Now the food — where do I even start? I ordered the “Full Irish Breakfast,” but what I got looked like something scraped together from a gas station clearance bin. The sausages were dry and shriveled like they’d been sitting under a heat lamp since sunrise. The black pudding was cold in the middle — cold! — and tasted like someone had substituted cardboard and regret for flavor. The bacon was limp and greasy, the eggs were overcooked to rubber, and the beans were dumped on the plate like slop in a trough. Even the toast was depressing — barely browned and somehow soggy. And don’t get me started on the tea. Lukewarm dishwater served in a chipped mug. The staff couldn’t care less. Plates sat on dirty tables, and the whole place reeked of stale beer and burnt oil. Honestly, it felt like they were daring customers to leave and never come back. If you’re looking for a real Irish breakfast, do yourself a favor: go anywhere else. This place is an embarrassment to Irish hospitality.
This Irish bar is about as Irish as my Welsh mate John. We seen the bar earlier in the day and thought it would be a great place to go for a drink, how wrong we were. We walked into the bar to a hostile welcome and we were made to feel unwelcome. Staff are Angry and need to get a job they enjoy. I would like to say it was just one member of staff but it was all of them. I actually think most of them forget where and why they were there. Avoid and save your money. Horrible place and horrible people.
I have been here 100 times easily as I work around the corner but there is a bartender that works here once a week. An older woman with black hair that decided to act very rude and condescending towards me. It ruined every experience I’ve had thus far. I see 3 weeks ago a similar response was made. As someone that has frequented this establishment for over 3 years and has nothing but positive things to say but to hire someone or take on someone that clearly has issues with the general public then please reconsider because it ruins the general experience for people that frequent this bar.
Avoid this pub. They cut me off for no reason. The male bar tender fine. But the manager awful. Great guiness. But they don’t care about customer.
Only went in for a few drinks so I can’t comment on the food but it would have to be the best food in America to ever consider going back in there. The service was shocking and our server was extremely rude. It’s the worst bar I have ever been too since arriving in New York. The entire staff need to either go to anger management or learn basic manners, no clue why it’s called an Irish bar nothing about it whatsoever was Irish except for a bit of green paint, it looked great from the outside but don’t let that fool you. A few drinks quickly turned into one that we did not finish.
I give one star for the guy in the entrance. He can’t be more animal, unkind and rude. I mean the guy working on saturday 6th of september around 8:30pm. If you don’t want customers to come, is the perfect guy. The food and drink is ok, and the treat of the waiters inside very kind.
manager that was rude and the food sucked like freezer food. Door guy was rude and tried to act tough with everyone even though we were dining not bar hopping like everyone else there
We know things work differently in the US, but the bartender defended the insane tipping scam to its core (Why? Let us have our drink in privacy?) and tried to make us feel bad. He said he would have usually kicked us out, bc we hadn‘t tipped properly. Very rude. We gave him (enough) Euros. I used to live in the US. And I never liked their service culture.
We came here to eat the first day and had lovely service & food. I came alone a few days later (as my partner was feeling unwell) for a drink after shopping. I was sat on a table at the the end of the bar which is totally fine & decided to call my daughter back in the UK. To which some old man who worked there walked up to me and said “can you turn that down, people are eating” to say I was flabbergasted would be the understatement. The music is playing loudly, people are chatting & laughing yet my phone call offended you. Was it because I was an English woman on my own? I wasn’t anywhere near people eating & it’s not like a lite a cigarette or anything I phoned my child. Absolutely fowl behaviour and would NEVER return
I have never left a google review however I had to in this horrible situation. food was lovely, staff were amazing however i will never come back due to one member of staff in particular adam p (the bartender with dark hair with glasses), he was so incredibly rude and it made me and my family incredibly embarrassed as we are showing our friends nyc for the first time. we are from australia and one of our friends was ordering from the bar he asked for my ID, i gave it to him and he didn’t return it for about 2 minutes as he was too busy flirting to girls at the bar. he then asked my friend to repeat her order 4 times, and it got to the point of constantly repeating ourselves. our group felt he was making fun of us due to our nationality and this was evidenced by his comment remarking “who orders like that?” as if i would sympathize with him or validate his rudeness, despite him having already heard it 3 times. he then expressed his distaste with my friends ordering and stated “i know they don’t order like that in melbourne” (again belittling our nationality). my friend was confused and said “okay?” he then expressed how he lived in melbourne (even though he pronounced the city incorrectly.) after this we discussed to tip him not as well as we usually would and discovered he had tipped himself 18%, which can be normal at some places in the city but for such atrocious service, this was absolutely not deserved as he made us feel attacked and unwelcome in the establishment. it was evident that he felt he could take advantage of “outsiders” by being incredibly rude and essentially stealing our money via the tip. the hostess at the door was incredible and so kind however the encounter with adam P sadly ruined our day. i hope he realizes his actions, has time to reflect on his behavior and learns how to better interact with customers.
