Dined at this restaurant solo so only tried a couple of items but what I had was absolutely delicious and I will be back to try more options. Lovely decor and very comfortable bar seating. Bread is offered and should be accepted. It is an herb focaccia and is light and springy and delicious. Tartare is a standard portion with very toasted bread points. A traditional tartare, which is good, but definitely felt like it had some heat, not sure if it was spicy mustard or something else but highly recommend. Cacio e pepe was very good. A simple dish but not always easy to master. The pasta was perfect, it had a great chew to it and the flavors were on point. I had to try the profiteroles and they did not disappoint. They were filled with ice cream, which was tasty but not needed. The pastry was light and crispy and delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Mauricio A was our server tonight and he made our dining experience here so amazing. Warm, welcoming, knowledgeable about drinks and dishes. We can’t wait to come back while my husband and I are in town. I ordered the rack of lamb, it was cooked to perfection. The absolute perfect temperature My husband ordered the spaghetti Bolognese. He loved it and we shared a lasagna. Seriously the best lasagna we’ve ever had!
Osteria La Baia is a fantastic Italian restaurant in NY city. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable without feeling over the top, making it perfect for both date nights and dinners with friends. The food is excellent — fresh ingredients & well-balanced flavors. The seafood dishes stand out, and everything tastes authentic and thoughtfully prepared. Service is attentive, professional, and welcoming. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu and happy to offer recommendations. Overall, a reliable and high-quality spot for Italian cuisine. Definitely worth a visit.
Came for a pre Christmas dinner with my wife and we will definitely come back. Hostess was very accommodating since we didn’t have a reservation. The food was amazing, we shared the lobster fettuccine, frutti di mare squid ink pasta and scallops. Thanks to all the staff for their kindness and to our waiter Renan, who gave us excellent recommendations. Next time we’ll have the Chilean sea bass and the olive cake!
Thank you so much to the hostess who picked up my call on Christmas Day and made our last-minute reservation happen. I had been here once before with friends, and I was so happy to finally bring my beloved friends back on Christmas. We loved everything from the moment we walked in. All of us truly enjoyed every detail from the drinks to dessert. The service was excellent as always, and the cozy atmosphere with warm lighting made the experience feel extra special and memorable. We shared a variety of appetizers and entrées, and everything was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be coming back!
Osteria La Baia is one of those places where both the food and the service make you want to come back. We started with cocktails and they were smooth, balanced, and easy to drink—nothing harsh, nothing too sweet. Just really well made. For appetizers, the meatballs were a total comfort hit, and the roasted octopus was tender and full of flavor. But honestly, the real star was the house bread made live—served warm, soft inside, slightly crisp outside, and perfect with olive oil. Simple, but unforgettable. Don’t skip it. For entrées, everything landed: the pasta alla vodka was rich and satisfying, the rib eye steak came out medium with great peppercorn flavor, the roasted chicken was juicy, and the gnocchi caprese was light and comforting. Huge shoutout to our server Jarrod Thomas—he was so nice, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Perfect timing, great energy, and made the whole experience feel relaxed and special. They even surprised us with a birthday dessert for my friend, which was such a thoughtful touch. If you’re deciding whether to come here: do it. Come hungry, order the bread, trust the cocktails, and let the service take care of the rest. We’ll definitely be back to try more.
The Valentines Day dinner couldn’t be at the better place! What made it great is obviously my precious wife. However, what made it even better is the great atmosphere, delicious food and amazing service! I always appreciate good service since I’ve been inside. General manager, if you are reading it give Mauricio a promotion or a little bonus! You don’t get that type of welcoming vibes in the city from the server during busy day often! Thank you guys :)
Came across this restaurant while visiting from Florida. The food was amazing. Our server was Mauricio A. He was nice, very attentive and a breath of fresh air. Will be returning next time we are visiting. Highly recommend.
It was a very nice surprise! Everything was awesome , the pasta well cooked . The tuna tartar has a great olive oil taste and the papardelle with bolognese sauce the best . Angela’s guide with the menu and atention unique in a restaurant here in the USA.
It was my girlfriend and I first time here in New york. When I looked for a restaurant to celebrate Thanksgiving with her I ended up stumbling upon this restaurant. My girlfriend being a big fan of Italian food we went ahead and tried it. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was romantic and the overall service was fantastic! Mauricio was our server and he did an amazing job attending us! He was welcoming, informative with menu selections, and engaging. Can't recommend the food enougg and if you ever have the chance ask for Mauricio to be your server! You won't regret it! A true professional 🙂
We had an amazing experience at this restaurant! As soon as you walk in, it is STUNNING. The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was full of flavor, and the desserts were the perfect finishing touch. Our favorites were the meatballs, Cacio e Pepe & the Rib Eye. For drinks, the Old Fashioned and French 75. Our waitress, Nicole, went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel so welcome throughout our meal. The service and atmosphere together made it such a great dining experience. I highly recommend this spot — we’ll definitely be coming back!
Marco our server was amazing. His recommendations were on point. The grilled octopus was nice and moist with the right amount of spicing. Black pasta with seafood as outstanding. It was mostly seafood which doesn’t happen often. We will be definitely back and will look forward seeing Marco again. Such a wonderful person
We had a reservation for 2pm, but with any family get together, plans changed and we arrived 1hr early. We were able to be sat early in the lounge area. The food was incredible, and we had Lina as our server. She provided top-tier service, was super friendly, and offered excellent suggestions for the vegetarian in our party. If you're able to check this place out, ask for Lina!
We didn’t have any reservations but the hostess was very accommodating and was able to find a table for us right away. Our server Lina was very knowledgeable with the menu and we tried most of her recommendations which did not disappoint! She made our experience a very friendly and personable one which I genuinely appreciate. My family came to New York on vacation and I must say that the food was one of the best I’ve ever had!
Immaculate experience and wished I had more time. Met a dear friend for a special dinner during my work break. Advised staff we were in a time crunch and they truly heard my words. Robin our waiter was pneumonial, kind, attentive and exceeded our expectations. The food was just as great as the service. Will absolutely go back for dinner again and again. Thanks Robin, I hope to see you soon again! ⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️
We had a great authentic Italian dinner and highly recommend it. Our server, Allen, made the service 5 star. The highlight dishes were the porterhouse steak and cacio e pepe pasta, both were amazing. The other classic pasta was also very good. Both antipastis (roasted octopus and eggplant) were just okay, but the sides, sautéed mushrooms and roasted potatoes were fantastic. Overall, it was very good, and only the antipasti could be improved, everything else was perfect.
Excellent food. Absolutely delicious. 10/10! We got the ravioli special which was stuffed with veal for the appetizer. PACKED with flavor! Then we got the mushroom risotto and lobster fettuccini for our main courses. It was hard to pick a favorite because it felt like a new flavor sensation with each bite. The lemon cake lacked the flavor punch, but was enjoyable. The service from “Ms BK” was superb. She was fun and gave us great guidance in the menu. The atmosphere was energetic and fun. I can’t wait to go back!
Hosted a group of 20 in the Executive Room. Danielle from their team was easy to coordinate and work with during the planning phase and Tim our head waiter was excellent on the night of and made it a great guest experience. Gregory the General Manager also welcomed us for the evening as well. Ambiance, food, and service from start to finish were all A+. Would highly recommend whether a party of 2 or larger group.
We sat downstairs and they made sure they were aware of our after dinner show plans. They timed everything perfectly and Mark and his team took great care of us. Food was delicious - we got steaks, fish and several sides. We have two teenagers and they enjoyed it as well. It was a wonderful experience and I would recommend. I would have taken a photo of our food, but I was so into the relaxing atmosphere that I forgot to take out my phone!
As longtime regulars of the original Mastro’s in Scottsdale, (all 3 locations) our expectations are always high, and Mastro’s NYC exceeded every single one of them. From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, welcoming, and elevated. Brian, the wine director, went out of his way to check in and make sure everything was perfect, and our server Sebastian delivered the kind of attentive, genuine service you rarely see anymore. The food was flawless!! The perfectly cooked steaks, incredible sides, and desserts somehow topped it all off. Every detail felt thoughtful and consistent with the Mastro’s standard we know and love, while still having that special New York energy. We left saying this was our favorite Mastro’s experience ever. Huge thank-you to Brian and Sebastian. ✨
We booked our Christmas Lunch at Mastro’s Restaurant. The food was great, chef’s ribeye not to miss along with the garlic mashed potatoes but if you want to top up your experience with a great service you will be lucky if Ronnie is taking care of your table. A big THANKS for a great afternoon.
Fantastic restaurant with great food and great atmosphere. My wife had twin lobster tails and she kept raving about how well done they were. I had a filet mignon that was seasoned and cooked perfectly; very tender. The white cheddar mac & cheese was tremendous. Our cocktails were very well done. We didn’t have room for dessert, but I’m sure it would have been very good. Our server Ronnie was very helpful and attentive. The overall experience was worth every penny. Highly recommended.
What a great spot for a memorable dinner. The location is perfect, especially if you’re catching a show nearby. The food and wine were excellent from start to finish. The bone marrow was a standout — unique, rich, and incredibly flavorful. The wet-aged steak had a distinctive depth of flavor and was cooked perfectly. And don’t skip the butter cake — it was absolutely outstanding. We’ll definitely be back.
Overall, a very a good experience at Mastro’s. We went on a Saturday so the place was buzzing. They even had live music which was nice. The food was delicious. I really enjoyed everything they put in front of us especially the king crab fried rice. The staff were really nice and overall i would recommend this place.
In midtown Manhattan, Mastro's Steakhouse is a fine dining institution that is nicely tucked away. Reservations are recommended as this is a popular venue for celebratory events like birthdays, engagements, and graduations. The overall impression is of beautifully decorated surroundings with a dinner service that is dimly lit. The front of house is impeccable and the majority of the menu items were delicious. The ribeye was tender and flavorful. Their handcrafted cocktails and preferred wine list complement each other well. We would like to express our gratitude to our server Ronnie and the newly hired manager Quinnell.
I visited Mastro’s Steakhouse to celebrate my birthday, and the experience was amazing! Our server, Jason, was excellent, kind, patient, and very attentive. He took the time to explain everything on the menu clearly and made sure my drink was always filled without me having to ask. His service truly made the evening special. I’ll definitely be returning for the outstanding hospitality and wonderful atmosphere.
Came here with the fam for the birthday! Everyone here was avery nice, helpful with the menu. Service was great, fast, and friendly. Helped with a few questions I had on the menu. The steak was really good, the bread variety was pretty cool. Everyone was great and looking forward to coming back!
Took my bestie here for her birthday but this is our favorite spot. The lamb chops are 10/10 Mac and cheese are 10/10. The Brussel sprouts disappointed us this go round it was VERY salty. Besides that the drinks are really good the mango lemon drop is my favorite. We sat at the bar downstairs and the service that Roman gave was 10/10. He made sure my friend and I were comfortable. Overall I love this place the food is really good
I had an exceptional dining experience at this restaurant for my children's graduation from elementary school and high school. They provided us with personalized menu with the childrens name on them. The service was outstanding—attentive and friendly from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. Our waiter was fantastic, attentive without being intrusive, and made great recommendations. The highlight was the cheesecake—rich, creamy, and absolutely divine. Live piano music added a wonderful ambiance, creating a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a memorable night out. ---

There is no shortage of high quality steakhouses in midtown Manhattan, but Mastro's is perhaps a cut above. It is stylish, and has great ambience. The food is of course done to perfection, and it …
Nice place, very central and busy. Even though we had a reservation, we waited 3-5 minutes to be seated. The service was friendly, up to that point. We ordered cocktails, pasta and, as a main course, branzino, which we paired with Pinot Grigio. To finish, we ordered tiramisu. Everything was delicious and the portions were very generous; however, a couple of hours later, we felt ill, nothing serious. Perhaps we are not used to such heavy meals.
Mastro's New York: High Expectations Met Fairly Well (Reservation Essential) Let me start by saying that a reservation is highly recommended at Mastro's, and for good reason. The ambiance is super nice, super busy with live music and almost full to the brim on a weekday dinner. My experience was a mix of genuinely stellar moments and a few areas where my high expectations fell slightly short, ultimately leading me to feel they fared fairly well and deserve a second chance. The appetizers set an incredibly high bar. The Lobster Bisque Soup was everything you want it to be: creamy, rich, and bursting with flavor. The Crab Cake was another true gem—flaky, moist, and wonderfully seasoned. Our server, Torrell, was excellent—attentive and highly personable. However, my only service critique is that the starter recommendations, particularly the infamous Mastro's Bakon, felt a little too pushed, resulting in an overload of food for a single diner. The Bakon itself was decent but not fancy; it was overly sauced and a bit too salty, though I did enjoy that signature crispy outer crunch. The Bone-In Rib Eye (Medium) was the biggest point of observation. While certainly flavorful, the taste felt derived more from the heavy marinade and charring than the quality of the beef itself, which is what I personally prefer. The char was, at points, inedibly excessive, masking and slightly ruining the true steak flavor. What saved the main course was the incredible side: the Lobster Mashed Potatoes. They were the absolute star of the show, indulgent and unforgettable. A constructive suggestion: Mastro's must introduce single-person serving sizes for some of their magnificent sides to better accommodate solo diners. I still had a great overall experience and will definitely give them another chance next time I’m in NY or DC.
I had a wonderful dinner experience at Mastro's, surrounded by a beautiful atmosphere that set the tone for a fantastic evening. The live entertainment was a highlight, adding to the ambiance and making our dining experience even more enjoyable. Our service was attentive and good, ensuring that our needs were met throughout the meal. The food was mostly excellent, with my Bronzini being a standout dish. The steaks and pork chops ordered by others in my party were also well-received. However, our calamari was a bit of a letdown - it was overcooked and slightly too chewy. Despite this minor misstep, the overall experience was delightful, and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others."

Very Nice, good food , good live music, good service but very expensive for what you get , not sure I would come back as lacked atmosphere
Underwhelming. I came to this place with a lot of expectations- the reviews looked great! Let me start by saying what was great- the focaccia bread, the tiramisu were truly exceptional. Service was top notch. However- the quality of a restaurant is known by its consistency in ensuring each dish is flavorful- not just a few. We ordered the veal shank in risotto, and the lobster fettuccine. Both were mid. They didn’t add bread crumbs to the lobster fettuccine. It had a tomato and parsley base- and the flavors were missing. Overall- I have been to better Italian restaurants in nyc. I would skip this one.
Osteria La Baia might have glowing Google reviews—but I suspect that’s more from gentle nudges by the waitstaff than pure customer enthusiasm. We arrived with a reservation and were seated at a cramped corner table tucked beside a large private party. The noise was chaotic—like dining inside a speaker. When we asked our waiter to move, he told us to “ask the hostess” instead of handling it himself. Eventually, the manager stepped in and relocated us to a much better spot where we could actually hear each other. Once things settled, the experience improved. The roasted octopus starter was just okay—nothing to write home about. The Cacio e Pepe with truffle had great flavor but was a bit too oily. The Gimlet was the standout—perfectly balanced. My friends enjoyed their salad and risotto, so the food wasn’t the issue. Overall? The meal was fine, but the service and seating left a sour note. Not a disaster, just not the polished Italian experience the reviews make it out to be.
I don’t normally share an experience that was disappointing; however, because this restaurant is considered one of my favorite places - I’m concerned that yesterday may have changed my perception. I’ll start with the cons: 1. It took some time to receive our food - I’m not sure if it was because we were a party of nine; however, it was a good wait. 2. When the food arrived, the plates were lukewarm at best. I wished my plate was hot like it has been several times before. The manager did apologize for that. 3. The servers started sharing my sides with the whole table. I was left with a corner of my sides, even though I specifically asked to not share since I wanted to take it to go. Our server for the evening apologized and brought one of the sides back out to me. I didn’t receive the other one. 4. The food was underwhelming based on seasoning/taste and undercooked based on the temperature - it was not memorable like the other times I’ve visited. My sister, who was celebrating her birthday yesterday had to ask the kitchen to cook her steak to medium well. They took the steak back in and it was cooked slightly; it was not to her liking. The food was bland; not as seasoned and felt grainy as well. I don’t know what had happened there. We told the manager and she gave my sister a free dessert for her birthday. The pros: 1. I love that this restaurant accommodates people to enjoy a fine dining experience. It was nice to see a younger crowd of people enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant. 2. The live music is always a fantastic experience here. I walked in and heard a person request “You Get What You Give” by New Radicals - I love that! 3. Even though the food was underwhelming, I believe that the service provided is amazing. You don’t have to lay a finger on mostly anything; everything is served with professionalism from the serving staff. 4. It’s located in the heart of Manhattan; such a beautiful place to be in especially in the holidays. Overall, I think this experience could have been better based on the bill: $1,251. That was $165 per person. I hope this review supports the restaurant in understanding what could be adjusted moving forward.
Bill was $2000, food was mid, steaks was undercooked, asparagus was HARD AS A ROCK an to top it off YA DONT HAVE TAP IN 2026!!!

Food (3/5): The char on my steak was excellent, but it came out more medium than the medium-rare I ordered. Not bad enough to return, but definitely below the Mastro’s standard. The sushi, however, was flat-out terrible — I would strongly suggest no one orders it. Service (1/5): Unfortunately, this was the weakest part of the experience. Our server, Julian, had a bit of an attitude and didn’t make much of an effort to accommodate us. The restaurant was very loud, yet instead of adjusting for that, I actually found myself standing up to catch what he was saying. On top of that, my fork was dirty when it was set on the table — not what I’d expect from a restaurant of this level. The one bright spot was the bell staff, who were excellent and ended up providing more attentive service than Julian. Ambiance: Typical Mastro’s look and feel, but tables were tightly packed and the noise level was so high we had to raise our voices to talk. Overall: The steak had good flavor, but between the disappointing sushi, subpar service (dirty silverware included), and a cramped, overly loud atmosphere, this location falls well short of other Mastro’s I’ve visited.

the house salad i ordered here was unlike anything i’ve ever seen. it seemed as tho someone had thrown together cutting board scraps (roughly unevenly chopped onions and for some reason two pieces of what seemed to be bell pepper) with cottage cheese, no seasoning, and a mound of iceberg lettuce. then they garnished it with a raw shrimp without asking about allergies ??? as soon as i took one look at it i couldn’t believe i was in a 5 star restaurant. i already knew i was in store for a sorry taste, but i tried to be open minded and give it a try. it was indeed flavorless and strange. the shrimp was really the part that took me out. i immediately had to send it back. A colossal disappointment it was. you won’t catch me dining here again by choice !
