2/17/2026 First stop in NY you have to get pizza right ?!? Exactly just a few streets over we ended up at John’s. Starting with a healthy portion of Caeser salad which was great fresh shavings of Parmesan and crisp lettuce. Had the margarita pizza with pepperonis a large ( 2 of us got it down guess I was pretty hungry). It gave everything a ny slice should’ve gave I was highly pleased. Chewy crust, satisfying slices, and a beautiful time. Bathroom rating: 5/5
What a fantastic find while in the city for the day! Staff was nice, attentive, and informative. Place was clean, nostalgic, and warm. We placed our order and it arrived so quick to our table! Plenty of seating, which was a great find because so many restaurants have very limited seating in NYC. Would definitely come back here! For a group of 4, our bill was less than 70.00 before tip.
Fantastic pizza and atmosphere. While awaiting, we were helped quickly by the bartender with a couple of glasses of wine. After being seated, our server assisted us quickly as well! Hostess was also very kind. Great service all around. The pizza was scrumptious! Very flavourful and perfect crust. 👌 I wouldn't have done anything different. We had a Margherita+ pepperoni.
Pepperoni and Hawaiian pizza here is awesome. Pizza was quick even though the venue was packed. Said a 30 min wait, but felt like 10. Drinks were nearly instant. The oven teams seem well equipped and talented. It's a bit loud when fully packed, but that just added to the atmosphere as there are quiet(we) places to sit too. Trendy, can bring family or business here, or just yourself on a holiday or dining alone. Great amount of staff...
Holy moly!!!! The best NYC Pizza ive ever had. Giant Coal fired ovens crank out the most delicious pozza ive ever had! The location near times square used to be a church, so it has some great character. Arrive early and expect to wait 30-60 minutes for a table. We were instructed to wait in the bar area. We purchased a chocolate Martini and met aome wonderfilul people sitting at the bar. Cant wait to go back next time in NYC!
We had to grab a quick bite before our 1pm show. You need to wait in line as they don’t do reservations. This doesn’t bother me. It’s actually quite interesting. It’s part of the experience. We along with quite a few others were swiftly seated. I can tell they do this regularly. It’s efficient and pleasant. Our waitress was extremely nice and friendly and efficient. The ambience is nice. The food super tasty. I highly recommend John’s even though the name is boring. :D We know we will come back again!
Walked into John’s of Times Square on 44th like a grown man on a mission 🍕 First thing that hits you—this place looks epic inside. Cathedral ceilings, old-school brick, stained glass vibes… feels like you’re about to attend mass for pizza. Absolute New York energy. Then there are the 800-degree coal-fired ovens—no thermostats, just pure skill. Four brick ovens seasoned with age like cast iron, run by pizza guys who trained longer than most prizefighters. No two pies the same, all of them respected. I ordered the regular Neapolitan, because when a spot has this much confidence, you don’t overthink it. Crispy, chewy, smoky, fresh ingredients doing pushups on my taste buds. Simple. Honest. Dangerous. No gimmicks. No shortcuts. Just a legendary NYC pizza joint reminding me why New York doesn’t debate pizza—we just eat it and let history speak. 🍕🔥 #johnspizza #timesquareeats #nycpizza #coal fired #neapolitanpie #classicnyc #foodieinthebigapple
Don't be deceived by the understated signage on the outside. Just off the main section of Times Square, is John's Pizzeria. Whenever I read something like "best pizza in NYC", especially in Time Square, I am skeptical.... but truly, this is the best pizza I've had (outside of Brooklyn), and drinks are reasonably priced. However, the real surprise is that this pizzeria is housed in an old church and maintains some of the original architecture, including a stained glass dome skylight in the center, church pew booths, etc.
This restaurant is absolutely stunning! There was no wait at all, and we were there on a Saturday around 1pm. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive! Our delicious cheese wedges appetizer was hot, fresh, and delivered quickly to our table! The pizza and my shrimp fra diavolo (extra spicy) were perfect! Thank you for such a lovely experience.
Visited today at 5.30pm, and it was half empty. No queue, no issues, quick service. All was great! We were seated right in the middle, which was great, and had a brilliant view of everything going on. Ordered 2 large pizza for 3 of us and took lots home as they were huge! The food was quick and piping hot. No free refills on drinks, which is a shame, but we were given water upon arrival. Bill is slightly cheaper if you pay cash, around 5 bucks. Service was friendly and swift. Hit the spot after a busy day sightseeing with the family. Pizzas are around 34 dollars for a large, which is 8 slices. Highly recommend!
I found out about this restaurant in New York while planning my 5 days of New York vacation in Los Angeles. I decided to stop by at least once to have a good meal and find out if what was described and reviewed by others to be true. Warni g: The restaurant is crowded, pretty much at all times. But, after a typical 30-minute wait, I was escorted to a second level seating space. [I insisted to be seated upstairs for a bit more privacy] 1. True: it is a converted church. The old church ceiling, the colorful windows, and the chandeliers are intact. Beautiful. Probably, there's only one of a kind on Earth. 2. True: the food tasted delicious. Salad was fresh, the fried calamari was crispy, and the pizza was crispy and... great!!!. 3. True: The service was good 4. True: the restaurant is crowded and noisy....I didn't mind. If you are visiting New York, I recommend this place.
We went to John’s after getting in late from a delayed flight. We got right in and had drinks and food within 20 minutes. The servers were kind of quick but friendly. I enjoyed the pizza ovens being within view. Salad was good, pizza was delicious and the building is beautiful. I liked that it was busy but we didn’t feel rushed. The inside is warm and stuffy, so just be prepared for that.
Had explored it in internet before going to NYC, and it was worth to visit, fantastic eatery serving exclusive thin-crust pizza in Times Square. The atmosphere in this old church building with views of pizza ovens is amazing & the pizza was the best, very flavorful and perfect crust! Not only did we get to watch all our food get made, the toppings were heavy, sauce just right, and crust was slight crisp without falling over. Loved everything and will definitely be back. my favorite-must-stop pizzerias in NYC!! John’s Pizzeria of Times Square is a must-visit for pizza lovers.
When we first arrived to the hotel, we asked one of the staff where to get the best pizza. He told us to go to John’s. We had no choice but to take his suggestion. Omgosh! As you can see I could barely get my phone out fast enough. The pizza was SO GOOD! The mozzarella was great, too! We loved it so much that we went back the next night.
A Beautiful Pizzeria Renovated from a Historic Church John’s Pizzeria is set inside a beautifully renovated former church. The spacious, multi-level dining room features a striking Manhattan mural and original stained-glass ceilings, creating a great atmosphere. They serve classic New York–style pizza with a slightly thicker crust, topped simply with cheese and tomato sauce. Hearty, satisfying, and nicely chewy around the crust. Appetizers, pasta, and sides are also available, making it a solid spot for a relaxed meal or date.
We found this pizza spot near Times Square on Google Maps while looking for a place with shorter wait times and less salty pizza. The spacious dining area meant we were seated right away. We ordered a Margherita pizza with light cheese, and it was fresh, not greasy, and well balanced in flavor. The staff were friendly overall, though it was slightly inconvenient that our group, carrying large backpacks, was first seated at a small two person table.
One of the best place to have pizzas if you are visiting times square area. They also have veg options available. They also serves some good vegetarian food item like bruschetta and margharita pizza. They also have good options in drink as well. The staff is courteous and the place is value for money.
I tried John’s pizzeria Times Square on my trip to New York City, and honestly, the pizza did not disappoint! Super crispy crust and amazing flavor — definitely worth the hype. Service was a little slow, which was the only downside, but the food made up for it. I’d still go back!
I enjoyed this place a lot. My only takeaway was our server gave me the wrong drink. Our server was pleasant and the ambiance was nice. The food was really good. We ordered the Italian margarita pizza, eggplant Parmesan pasta, and a salad. Sorry we don’t have more pics but the food was so good that we were only able to get this one lol
I’ve ordered 3 different pizza to insure I give my absolute honest feedback. I’ve also ordered one pasta with meatballs, for the quality of the pizza I must say I was expecting something little more premium, the crust was little hard and the topping though it was packed felt like it was coming direct from the freezer to the pizza and then placed into the fire pit, the chicken was little hard, the pepperoni was little to oily with less cheese and the margarita I was expecting more cheese they covered it with some greenry which is a first for me on a margarita pizza. While the location is fabulous and the architecture is beautiful the place missed the soul which is the music that will greate the vibe. If you are not an expert pizza lover then you won’t find my comments valid as the food is still tasty just not as perfect as when visiting other pizzeria in the same area
Nice place to enjoy nice pizza. We wanted to try some real NY style pizza so we chose John’s of Times Square. There were two sizes and we want for the “smaller” one to share as we were not very hungry. This was big enough as you can see on the pictures, 6 nice slides. Then we wanted to try the meatballs to have something else. However, the waiter forgot to order them and we were waiting for forever! He only realised when he asked us about the check and we told him we were still waiting for the meatballs. We could have asked but no waiter seemed to be available in our area of the restaurant. They were eating or moving on the other side of the restaurant. Service was friendly nonetheless and apologised for the mistake. We think they pizza was a bit too pricey for what it is, but I guess the location has something to do with it…
I had high hopes for John's Pizzeria, given its reputation as a Times Square staple. The restaurant itself is spacious, making it a good option for groups looking to grab a bite in the heart of NYC. Unfortunately, the experience didn't quite live up to the hype. The service was average-nothing particularly memorable, but nothing disastrous either. However, the food left much to be desired. The meatball & spaghetti was the biggest letdown of the night. The sauce leaned too heavily on the sour side, lacking the rich, savory depth that makes a great marinara shine. As for their famous pizza, it was... fine. But for a place that claims legendary status, I expected much more. The tomato-based sauce lacked balance, tipping toward salty and sour rather than delivering the perfect harmony of flavours. Dessert didn't redeem the meal either. The New York cheesecake and tiramisu were passable but far from standout. Overall, John's Pizzeria might be a convenient stop for tourists, but if you're searching for the best pizza in NYC, there are far better options.
I ordered a pie size pizza. Half cheese and the other half bruschetta pizza to go. The bartender was polite and made some suggestions. I waited for about 30 minutes for the pizza to be prepared. I took it home, when I arrived home, to enjoy my pizza, I was disappointed. The pizza was tasteless. The dough was hard, not enough cheese, I broke my braces brackets attempting to eat a slice. I ordered an entire pie so it was frustrating to purchase a $32 pizza and only eat a slice.
It is the worst pizza i've eaten in my life. The mozzarella is plastic, peperoni from 7 eleven is way better than the one they use, the dough is terrible, all dry and the flavor is off. Would never recommend it, im not happy saying that but they need to work on the quality. Ordered meatballs also, really bad as well, felt like steamed and bland.
