Opinions de Carmine's New York
This is a busy location of course. We were greeted properly and taken straight to our table. We were with a large group, and it was super busy. All dishes are family style which is great for parties. They were able to accommodate our party of 27ppl. Reservations were made of course. For starters caesar salad which was great and fresh. It had a nice pepper kick to it and the lettuce was chilled. Calamari was next, lightly breaded and they were so delicious . For mains we went with chicken parm, bolognese, penne a la vodka, and three cheese ravioli. All were good the bolognese was a bit bland. Nonetheless it was a good experience, our waitress was very efficient. Thank you for a great experience.
Carmines is a fantastic Italian restaurant with a great vibe and warm atmosphere. The food is absolutely delicious—authentic flavors and generous portions. One dish labeled “for two” can easily feed more; the portions are huge! The service was attentive and friendly, making the experience even better. It’s a popular spot, so I definitely recommend making a reservation in advance. A must-visit for Italian food lovers!
Beautiful setting and the pasta was the best I’ve ever eaten. This ironically ended up the cheapest meal we ate I think too because it’s a massive family size portion. We only ordered one pasta and there was about half left between two - beautiful food but we were stuffed. Service was fantastic too and our server was fab. Roberto - friendly and made us feel at ease.
We went for a birthday, and it was very fun. The restaurant is boisterous — don’t plan on a quiet evening. We went at lunchtime on a chilly Saturday. Four adults split garlic bread (1/2 cheese), chicken Parmesan, and rigatoni with meatballs. The kids had pasta with butter. Service was attentive. The complimentary bread was quite tasty and they’ll give you more if you ask. Overall, we’d return if we were seeing a show or in the area. Thought the food was quite good. Yes, it’s touristy, but the food was better than it needed to be.
A friend recommended this place to us while we were in town visiting. It did not disappoint. When she said family style I was not prepared for it. The plates you get are shareable. When you sit down they bring you a huge basket of assorted breads. All are delicious. I personally liked the one with onions on top. For the appetizer we had stuffed clams. These were cooked so good with just the right amount of crisp. We decided on manicotti with marinara, and ravioli with meat sauce for our main. Both were mouth watering. We had so much leftover we had it for lunch the last two days. We did cheese cake for desert. The bottom was some sort of chocolate pie crust & the light fluffy cheesecake with a torched top. This is also enough for the entire table and leftovers. To drink we did red wine, a frozen berry drink, and the expresso martini. All were made to perfection, but that expresso martini was the best I’ve had anywhere. The service here is outstanding. Kat was our server. She was very kind & knowledgeable. Overall the wait was 30 minutes on a Thursday around 7. They have a place to store strollers & coats. If you’re looking for nice, delicious, and affordable dinning in the city I highly recommend visiting.
A Family Feast at Carmine’s Times Square – NYC Perfection! Carmine’s in Times Square was an absolute standout during our family’s spring break trip to NYC, and we’re still talking about it! This place is a masterclass in hearty, delicious Italian-American dining. We shared the seasonal Misti Salad with Fruit, which was fresh and bursting with flavor, the Shrimp Parmigiana that had us all swooning, and a massive plate of spaghetti with marinara sauce and meatballs that stole the show. Those meatballs? Amazing doesn’t even cover it—tasted incredible, perfectly cooked, moist, and so flavorful they’re hands-down the best meatballs I’ve ever had. The portions? Enormous! Between the four of us, we could barely make it through half, and we were stuffed to the brim with every bite being worth it. The meal kicked off with some of the best bread we’ve ever had—warm, crusty, and downright addictive. The staff was super friendly, making us feel right at home with their warm smiles and top-notch service. A word to the wise: make reservations! We heard they were turning away walk-ins that night, directing folks to their sister restaurant because they were only seating reserved parties. Lucky for us, we’d booked ahead and snagged a spot in the lively, welcoming atmosphere. Carmine’s is an absolute must for anyone visiting NYC. We can’t wait to come back!
Okay so people warned us that portions of food were huge. But it’s not huge. It’s massive! Like one order for at least 3 people. We were 6 of us. 4 were 20s. Ordered 1 salads, 1 calamari and 2 pastas. Calamari is like 50-60 in there. We couldn’t even touch 2nd pasta because we were so full. Waitstaff was very friendly and price was good for NYC. Highly recommended!
I had an amazing experience at Carmine’s! The Italian food was absolutely delicious, and the portions were perfect for a family-style setting. The waiters were very professional, and the staff members were friendly and welcoming. Overall, everything from the atmosphere to the service to the food was outstanding. I highly recommend Carmine’s for anyone looking for a great Italian dining experience.
This was a first for our family of four visiting Times Square, and Carmine’s did not disappoint! We were immediately welcomed and seated, and the portions were huge — enough to feed a small army. Every dish was delicious, and the entire experience was smooth from start to finish. Great food, great service, and a memorable stop on our NYC trip!
We all loved the place. It was Sunday morning, so good thing that we made a reservation as it was totally packed. Our table for 6 was ready within 5 minutes or less, however our server took like 15 minutes to come by and get our order. We loved the calamari and the artichokes, got the special with 4 different pastas and the veal. All to share. Everything was delicious. We will definitely come back on our next visit to NYC. If it's your first time, beware of the amount of food on each plate. We were 6 and couldn't finish it all.
The food was beyond delicious it exceeded my expectation. Great choice to celebrate my birthday there at Carmine's. The customer service was outstanding and excellent. The ambiance was very family friendly. I want to thank them for shipping me back my bag with my wallet inside to my hometown after leaving it there at the restaurant. While I was there celebrating my birthday, the food I got to try was the Penne Alla Vodka, Chicken Parmigiana, and the Garlic Cheese bread. It was finger licking good, I will sure be coming again.
True Family style Italian. We had a group of ten and highly recommend a reservation this place had a line out the door. We celebrated a birthday and loved the singing. We highly recommend this establishment if you’re in the neighborhood for a show. Great wine selection, great advice from the servers. Absolutely a slam dunk if you loves the noodles :)
I've been going here since 95' and I'll tell you it's always been incredible. Everytime. There isn't 1 thing on the menu that isn't amazing. The calamari is famous. The penne ala vodka is phenomenal. Hands down best chicken scarpariello I've ever had (sorry nonna). Come here with friends and bring your family. The portion are perfect. Also get their sangria. Wow. They also have a great amaro list but they don't have it on paper. You have to ask for it. I always get a cappuccino with a side glass of Montenegro. Chef's kiss. Side note: This location is miles ahead of the uptown location. Huge difference. I mean to the point where I refuse to go there. We strictly go to the mid town spot. Go here you won't be disappointed.
What a find. We went because they have both calamari and manicotti. We were not disappointed. A little more salt added would make the meal beyond fantastic. A little more sauce for the manicotti and u have a sure fire hit. We will certainly be back. We r excited for a return for yrs to come.
Carmine’s in Times Square is a fantastic place for anyone who loves classic Italian-American food served family-style. The portions are huge—perfect for sharing—and the atmosphere is warm, loud, and full of energy, just like a big family dinner. We ordered the chicken parmigiana and spaghetti with meatballs, and both were delicious, rich in flavor, and clearly made with care. It gets busy, so making a reservation is a smart idea, especially if you’re with a group. Service was friendly and fast despite the crowd. A great spot for a hearty meal in the heart of NYC.
Great place for reservations, bigger parties, celebrations, and HUGE portions! Everything they serve is family style, which I enjoyed. The pasta dishes were flavorful hot and flavorful, the salad was great, and the blackberry mojitos were one of my favorite drinks I’ve had in a while! Would definitely recommend if you’re near Times Square!
Came here for my daughter’s 26th birthday while visiting NYC. Our server Linda was great. She gave suggestions from cocktails to food. The stuffed mushrooms were so delicious. The Sauage and peppers used to stuff the mushrooms took the flavor to another level. The shrimp with angel hair pasta white wine & garlic was mouth watering. Chicken Scaloppine w/ Lemon & Butter was the best I’ve had. We will definitely be back when we return to NYC. 10/10
My native New Yorker friend took me here and it was incredible. Definitely make reservations; it was so busy. We had the penne ala vodka, chicken Parmesan and manicotti. Every single dish was incredible; I feel like it’s so easy to miss on Italian and they don’t. I also had the pear ginger martini, which had excellent pear flavor. Also the plates are literally gigantic so go in knowing you’re ordering food for a group.
Met with an old friend 4 of us had an amazing meal! It was very busy so our server rarely checked on us, but the food was quickly brought to our table. And the food was sooo good. The portionswere plentiful!. The atmosphere was beautiful, the wine was good. The price for 4 of us to eat with drinks was super reasonable! I highly recommend this restaurant!
We had the pleasure of ordering Carmines for an awards ceremony for 85 people. They made the process so easy and guided us with the menu options. The staff who arrived were extremely kind and professional. They set everything up and replenished the items without needing any direction. They were attentive and very helpful. Everyone raved about the food, the quality, and the options. We ordered Bow Tie Giardiniera, Rigatoni Country Style, Lemon Chicken, Spicy Scarpariello wings. Two types of focaccia sandwiches. Highly recommend!
Tied for the best service we had in NYC. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful. Food was very good. I wish it wasn't family style because I had to share the spaghetti and meatballs my daughter wanted. I don't like spaghetti (in general) but the meatballs were great. The tiramisu was also great. Definitely better for more than just two people.
The food here is better than ive had in many places in Italy. This is no tourist trap, fantastic food, old timey interior and fantastic service. My clumsy self knocked over my drink, it was replaced without question, that sums up the service here. Just be aware, its massive dishes, not that im complaining!
Portions at Carmine’s are insanely large. We ordered the chicken parm and penne alla vodka, both were excellent. The chicken parm was perfectly crispy, and the pasta was some of the most flavourful I’ve had. They also include an assortment of bread, which was a nice touch. The place was packed wall to wall, yet the service was still great, which is refreshing for NYC.
OMG! Perfect NY meal! Out shopping and dropped by for a quick bite. They were able to seat us immediately and we took the bartenders advice on dinner, the vodka sauce pasta w/ chicken. Perfection! The most intimate dinner we had in NY was at this TS Bar! Great spot, delicious food, exceptional staff and amazing food!!!
Amazing place food and ppl I like everything about it But I have suggestion As the restaurant is a family oriented atmosphere I suggest after the customer finished his food and pay you box the extra food and always ask the customer to take it with them and give it to any needed ppl in the street That way you don’t throw away the food and spread the doing good to other concept
Carmine’s in Times Square is a favorite for their incredible family-style dining experience! It’s an absolute must every time we visit New York City — and somehow, it gets better each time. The portions are generous and perfect for sharing, making it ideal for groups and family dinners. We always start with a pitcher of their sangria — both the red and white are refreshing, fruity, and delicious. Some of our favorites include the shrimp pasta with white sauce, lasagna, spaghetti with meatballs, Caesar salad, and fried calamari. Every dish is served hot, fresh, and bursting with flavor — you can truly taste the quality and care in every bite. What really makes Carmine’s stand out, aside from the food, is the outstanding service. The staff is friendly, attentive, and efficient, even when the restaurant is packed. The atmosphere is lively, welcoming, and perfect for making memories around the table. Pro tip: Make reservations ahead of time — they stay booked, and it’s easy to see why! If you're visiting NYC, Carmine’s in Times Square is an experience you don’t want to miss!
This place never lets me down Been coming here when I’m in New York for the past 25 years and the food is continuously still awesome. Definitely need reservations if not, typical weight is about 45 minutes Had reservations, but a seat at the bar opened. So he said at the bar. The bartender, Junior, was very warm and grew and knowledgeable Therefore, we stayed at the bar. The main courses here are humongous and even the appetizers are We split the seafood special, which was a perfect amount of food for us. The atmosphere was energy. The service was spot on and the food was awesome. And with that being located just outside of Times Square it is nice to walk around afterwards
We arrived and were given a 45 min wait for a table on a sunday evening. We were feeling slightly jet lagged after arriving in NY at lunchtime. We were seated after maybe 25 min and served by an amazing waiter called Andre. He explained everything really well about the size of the plates. We shared a seafood linguine which had the biggest prawns I've seen, along with garlic bread and cheese. Excellent food at very reasonable prices. Would definitely go back
Excellent experience! We had a reservation for 6pm. Pack your patience because it’s a popular restaurant. We were sat about 6:30pm which wasn’t bad. It was cold and raining but it was worth the wait. The food portions are MASSIVE! We had a party of eight and still had three big to-go boxes. I told the waiter my plan was to give food to people who needed it, and he added plasticware. He was awesome! It was my birthday and I was surprised with delicious ice cream. So good! Thanks, Carmines! Definitely returning next time!
Six of us had a fun, fabulous meal at Carmine's! We had an amazing hot antipasto appetizer platter. We took all of our delightful server's recommendations and were so glad we did. We had a giant beef shank and delicious penne with meat sauce, meatballs and sausages. We ended with ricotta cheesecake that was divine. Highly recommend!
Great Experience! I went for date night and was sat at a table with a large family of 8. We were all dressed for the theme and greatly enjoyed the evening. I highly recommend going and being an active participant. Like most things l, the more you contribute the greater the experience! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. P.S. The food was delicious. Family style delivery with an option between chicken parm or colossal shrimp.
I have visited Carmine's many times and it never disappoints. It was interesting to hear from the waiter that he does not get many orders for the Spedini. I would encourage everyone to try it as it is my favorite thing on the menu. The family style Service is great for larger groups and the Titanic for birthdays and special occasions is a must have. Additionally the memorabilia on the walls is awesome...pics of many famous people who have eaten there. LOVE THIS PLACE!!
An exceptional celebration of classic Italian dining. The timeless and elegant atmosphere made it the perfect setting to celebrate my birthday. I enjoyed the Caesar salad, pasta, and chicken parmigiana — each dish was impeccably prepared, rich in flavor, and true to tradition. A truly memorable experience.
We ventured here for lunch while on our trip to NYC. After doing a Google search, we decided upon this because I wanted authentic Italian food. I’m so glad we decided on this establishment. From the hosts to the server, Justin, to wait staff that assisted with our dishes, we were greeted with friendly faces and superior customer service. We had the lasagna and it was absolutely delicious. The portions are very generous and filling. The bread basket was filled with various types and all that we tried were tasty too! I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone in the vicinity of it. If we happen to ever get back to NYC, we definitely will be back
Carmine's in NYC is an absolute must for a birthday dinner! The atmosphere is buzzing and so much fun, perfect for celebrating. And the food? Huge portions of classic Italian comfort food that everyone will love. You definitely won't leave hungry, and it makes for a really memorable birthday experience.
Would definitely encourage anyone visiting New York City to dine at Carmine’s-Times Square. Great food, service, and atmosphere. This was my first time dining at this restaurant. The restaurant came highly recommended. Make sure you understand they serve family size portions. I was part of a party of four and had enough food to serve six people.
To my surprise, this is one of the best meals I’ve had in New York. I look forward to going back. The portions are enormous, but very tasty dishes. The Caesar salad is a must get the house made. Caesar dressing is amazing. The steak rivals the major steakhouses in New York City simply delicious. Looking forward to going back!
Carmine’s was plain delicious food! Served family style means everyone needs to be on board with the options because portions are absolutely huge. It’s right in Times Square so tons of traffic. It’s obviously been there a long time, chairs might need to be replaced (I feared the wobble on mine might collapse). Tables are very close together, so a loud atmosphere. Be prepared for a boisterous meal.
Great Italian restaurant that welcomes family style eating. We were a group of 9 and the food just kept coming. They can accomodate many big groups. Great food, good portions. The desserts are to die for. We had the Tiramisu, cannoli, cheese cake and pudding cake! Wow. Just wow! 🤌 A must stop if in NYC
This place is quite the experience. It’s loud, full of people and huge but still works and has its charm. The waiters are excellent and super kind and helpful. What i like the most is that it’s not only for tourists, there are a lot of locals. Don’t skip this place. Also, you won’t leave hungry.
Carmine’s did not disappoint! The food was amazing and such huge portions for the price. You will definitely want to go hungry and be prepared to share or have a ton of doggie bags. The food was delicious and have the authentic homemade Italian food. I would definitely recommend and will be back when in the area.
Carmine’s Italian Restaurant was absolutely amazing! From start to finish, the experience was worth every minute. Our waitress, Kiara, was phenomenal. She was so kind, attentive, and genuinely made us feel taken care of the entire time. The food came out perfectly cooked and full of flavor, with very generous family-style portions. Seriously…huge servings. They even packed our to-go boxes neatly and thoughtfully which was such a nice touch. We didn’t have a reservation and waited about 45 minutes, but it was beyond worth it. The atmosphere, service and food all delivered. We’d gladly wait again. Highly recommend if you’re in NYC and want a memorable, comforting Italian meal.
George and Felix were amazing from the start. Best recommendations from the Caesar salad, house bread (the red bread), to the country style pasta-we added the chicken, and chicken parm…..oh and hats off to our home state Oklahoma we had a bottle of Fat Ninte(boys from Oklahoma) ….the best! This was split between 4 and we still left lots of food and wanted dessert but we were stuffed! Thank you George and Felix for making us feel like it was a family dinner at the bar. We had reservations but lived then so we gave up the table;)
Want the feel of family style Italian? This is the place to go. We started with drinks from the bar. Of course we had a Manhattan. You have to when you're in Manhattan. We had the baked clams as an appetizer. So good. We also got the Carmine Salad. The dressing was so good and not over done. This restaurant serves family style so come hungry or bring a group with a wallet. Since it was just the two of us and we didn't need leftovers, we order the shrimp parmesan with some angel hair pasta. It did not disappoint. It was a good compromise for us since I wanted seafood and he wanted the chicken parmesan. Plan ahead to get in. A reservation is a must. Put it in the list when you visit NY.
I'm so glad, I gave me the opportunity to visit Carmine's for my birthday. It was an amazing experience. The food quality is super. Service top notch 👌. And atmosphere simply the best you can find. I totally recommend this restaurant make sure to come hungry because you will for sure get enough food. Thank you to all the staff you customer service is above and beyond.
Review – Carmine’s (Times Square, NYC) Carmine’s is a classic Italian restaurant right in the heart of Times Square, and it’s absolutely a must-go if you’re in the area. The place has that old-school Italian charm —bustling, lively, and full of energy— perfect for groups or family-style dining. The portions are enormous. Seriously, one dish can easily serve three to five people. We were two and ordered a lasagna, which could have fed four hungry diners without a problem. The flavors were rich and comforting, exactly what you’d expect from a great Italian spot. The service is outstanding —friendly, efficient, and perfectly coordinated, even though the restaurant is huge and always busy. I’d recommend making a reservation, but even if you don’t, the staff handles everything very smoothly. Prices are extremely reasonable, especially considering the portion sizes and location. We were so full we couldn’t even think about dessert —a rare thing! 📍 Conclusion: Carmine’s is an NYC institution that delivers big flavor, big portions, and great service. Ideal for sharing and enjoying a true Italian-American dining experience. ⭐ Overall rating: 9.5/10 🍝 Best: massive portions and excellent service. 🍰 Worst: impossible to save room for dessert. 💸 Price: amazing value for Times Square.
In Times Square I ate on the restaurant a some years ago and we had a great experience. The review below represents what we typically order everytime we go to Carmines. I have been to Carmine's in NYC, Washington, DC and Las Vegas and each and every time it is on point!!! I am not sure why i have never left a review but I will be fixing that today. I took photos and a copy of the receipt from Las Vegas so yall can see everything we ordered to go.. the only difference is the bread doesn't transport well with cheese i will remove the cheese next time. But other than that food was really good and so consistent. Yes its pricey and its also family style so its not for a sinlge person unless you are going to graze on it for a few days. I will tell you that marinara get extra...i forgot so you cna dip your bread it... so worth it. 10/10 definitely recommend!!
It was me and my wife's first time in New York with our friends. They recommended this place. The place was busy and the wait staff was so friendly and helpful with all the questions we had. The food is amazing and lots of it. We will definitely eat here again. If you ever go to New York. You have to go here. It is worth it.
Honestly, I don’t even know what we ate, but that plate was straight-up family-size…and worth every single penny. The food’s fire, and this spot’s definitely made for three or more people. Leftovers? Next-day magic! Staff’s chill, vibes are good…won’t be the last time we roll through. Heads up though: if you wanna sit inside, reserve ahead. Otherwise, you’re outside or waiting in line.
Our waitress was great and the food superb. However, this place should come with a warning for the ultimate educated - you will not go away hungry and the portions a VERY large, bring friends. They do tell you it is family style, them mean an old style italian family, large family style. You will not go away unsatisfied or hungry.
Had a nice time at this New York institution. The food is pretty good and the portions are enormous. In hindsight would have been better to go in a bigger group to get more value from the meal. The service is excellent and the restaurant decor captures that old school Italian American vibe.
The experience was good, the portions are absolutely massive, between two of us we had garlic bread and penne à la vodka with chicken added and it could have done three probably four of us comfortably. Because of the amount of food and where it is the prices are high. It would be a great place for larger groups for two it was a struggle in my opinion. Restaurant itself is lovely and great vibe.
Carmine’s is a NYC classic that is definitely worth trying. It’s very busy and feels very New York-like. The bread that we got at first was very tasty! We split the ravioli (big portion, which this place is known for), which was decent, but nothing outstanding. Perhaps some other dishes are more noteworthy. Our server was very friendly and fun, so that was nice! Based on food alone, I’d give 3 stars, but the service bumps it up to 4. I’d still come back if I’m ever in NYC, but I’d want to try another dish.
Carmine's is a great spot for a family gathering. The family-style portions are massive — come hungry and bring people to share with. The Caesar salad was a highlight, fresh and well-dressed, and the Porterhouse Pizzaiola was very good. The bread basket was solid too. The clam with gluten-free pasta in white sauce was just okay — a bit underwhelming compared to the rest. Service was decent, though our server could have been a touch warmer. The atmosphere is lively and fun, exactly what you want for a big group dinner. A reliable choice for family-style Italian.
We recently went here for a group dinner. Although overall we had a great time, the food was just okay but not memorable. The large crowds also detracted from the experience. However, the service was exceptional! Our waiter accurately advised us on how many items to order due to the very large family style portion sizes. Our table had a minor issue, and the manager comped desert and a sizeable amount off our bill, which was unexpected but greatly appreciated. The total with tip came to just a little over $30/person, which was a great value for the amount of food, especially in NYC. Overall, Carmine's would be a solid choice for a group outing, with enough menu variety and food quality to satisfy most people. For a smaller group, you might enjoy somewhere less hectic - there are many excellent neighborhood restaurants nearby.
We ordered a lasagna to share and the portions were huge, which we didn’t expect. Our server was really sweet and nice. It definitely is a place for family-sized meals like they describe because the portions are very big. Overall, the food was good and it was a nice experience.
Carmine is a big, lively restaurant that’s always crowded, so a reservation is highly recommended. Even with one, you may have to wait a bit, but the atmosphere makes up for it. The portions are huge, family-style, and easily enough for four people, great if you enjoy sharing. We tried the garlic bread (half with cheese, half without), which was delicious though a little more toasted than I prefer. The Mezza Luna Caprese was tasty, but the ravioli edges were a bit firm and the sauce portion was small we ordered extra and that made it much better. Dessert was the highlight: the tiramisu was creamy, rich, and absolutely delicious. Service was quick and attentive despite how packed the restaurant was. Overall, it was a really good experience, with generous portions and a fun, energetic vibe.
Pasta dishes here are very good, but the other things we ordered weren't that great. The orders are family style so one order can feed a few people. We had pasta, Greek salad and stuffed artichokes. The salad was already soggy by the time it came to the table. The artichokes were overcooked. It also took them a long time to cook the food. Not sure if I will come back
If not ordering lunch menu, its family style, meaning very large portions for the table to serve themselves and share. Decor maintains the "old NY feel" with loads of pictures that date back into mid 20th century. Music is nostalgic. Food can be a bit too salty, but the food is cooked well. Calamari was good, though just slightly undercooked. Chicken parm was very good and my favorite here was the simple garlic and oil spaghetti. Perfectly Al Dente. Superb oil and garlic taste. Its always busy from opening to closing. a must for a large group. They do serve complimentary bread basket, so no need to order more bread unless you want the garlic bread with melted cheese. Portions are very large.
it's a big restaurant. They have wheelchair accessible entrance and seating, they have a elevator, they have a coat check in for coats & strollers. This restaurant is family-friendly you can come alone or for a date or even with your kids. The wait is crazy this restaurant is very busy and packed, even with a reservation you have to wait for a table. you have to do a reservation they never have tables available it be so packed. The waiters are nice and friendly they so be so busy but they make sure they pay attention to you and they make sure you good everytime. The drinks was wack taste like juice, the food was amazing it taste very good the steak is expensive but is worth it has great taste one of the best steaks I ever tasted with great flavor and seasoning. The dishes are huge so you can share with 3 people or even 4. I came for my nephew's birthday he loved it we got him the sundae which was amazing the whole table got some. This restaurant is a great Italian restaurant i would come back. the drinks need to be better.
The show is amazing and the actors and actresses are so great. It was very entertaining. My only issue was the food. They give a great amount of food but not enough time to eat it. You are sharing plates with 10 different people. you serve yourself a little at first so everyone can eat. They then would send you to do a task and when u came back they would clear the entire table. We had full plates of food left and you think you are going to go back to finish it but it’s gone. They don’t mention that they are going to take everything away. For the price you are paying it should give an option to take leftovers home.
Definitely a tourist restaurant that serves family size portions. I haven’t been here in years and decided to give it a try. The portions are large, the menu is large and the flavors are not bad at all. It is standard Italian food, cooked well and served in a friendly atmosphere. It is a great restaurant if that is what you want. I came first lunch and had two appetizers, fried zucchini and stuffed artichokes. Zucchini was good, thinly sliced, lightly battered and fried well. Artichokes also good, leaves were very tender and easy to eat. The artichoke was a little too stuffed for me but I would prefer that to not enough stuffing because it’s very easy to just take some of the stuffing out. The stuffing was a little under seasoned but overall a good dish.
Not sure if it was because it was toooo busy... nah. It was just the server. 😑 We asked for water in the beginning but the water came much after the food... taking orders and everything was slow with her. The other servers were good though.. the ones that brought out the actual food and others nearby.. I guess she was overwhelmed? Not having a great day? Didn't make sense to get the water after starting to eat though and 3 of us needed waterrrr... who eats first before drinking water 😭 and we had bread before our food too! Ordered strawberry lemonade for my little one after waiting so long for the water.. imagine a 9yo complaining about being thirsty.. and how did the strawberry lemonade come first... the table that sat down next to us got their water first... before their food 😂 my friend was annoyed.. and felt bad that he brought us.. our server took forever to come back to us each time (even getting us the check and taking it back) and didn't check in either throughout at all.. I think all of us had the Get Me Out of Here feeling... had high hopes for Carmine's since all my friends mention Carmine's when I ask about italian in the city.. it was our first time there.. my kids and myself. Times Square location is not for us.. or just bad luck with the server.. either way I'm actually not interested in going back. It seems to be the type of place where one visit for the experience is enough. Aside from that. The fried calamari and stuffed mushrooms were good 😋 the pasta.. they could have cooked it a minute longer. My kids that love pasta didn't enjoy it which says a lot. The broccoli was pretty crunchy too 😂 not gonna be craving pasta for a while. The portions are big. Just the pasta and calamari could have been fine for the 4 of us. My little one loved their mints though 🙂 Oh!!! Forgot to mention~ The bread was also gooooood 😋😋😋 she forgot to give us the balsamic vinegar and oil too 😂 we asked a diff server after eating half the bread eventually 😌 we didn't say anything to the server since we wanted a positive experience for the kids. My first non-5 review 😭
I wasn’t aware this was a family style restaurant, which means massive portions meant for sharing I had the lasagna and it was delicious, massive but delicious. I ended up giving half my lasagna to the table next to me. I had the cheese cake and again that was unbelievably huge as well I found everything to be reasonably priced given the portion sizes The service was great, and the server took the time to give me great recommendations. Highly recommended this dinning experience. If you’re going by yourself prepare to take leftovers with you.
Carmines in Times Square is an experience—one of those places where you walk in and instantly feel like you’ve stepped onto the set of an old-school mafia movie. Dark wood, bustling servers, tables packed with huge platters of food… the vibes are loud, nostalgic, and very New York. We ordered the penne alla vodka and the calamari, and let me tell you: the portions are no joke. We were only two people and easily could’ve fed a small neighborhood. The penne alla vodka was rich, creamy, and just the right amount of indulgent. The calamari was crisp, well-seasoned, and perfect for sharing (because honestly, everything here is made for sharing whether you like it or not). Service was fast, friendly, and used to dealing with tourists and locals alike. It’s the kind of place where you come hungry and leave wondering how you’re supposed to walk after eating half a platter of pasta. If you’re in Times Square and want classic Italian-American comfort food with big portions and even bigger personality, Carmines delivers exactly that.
Came here with my mother a few weeks back before we left on our cruise and I heavily enjoyed the experience! You tell that this place was made with family and the love of food in mind! The whole menu is served family style and they definitely give you enough to feed a family! So bring at least 4 people! Maybe just 2 if you want lots of leftovers! The atmosphere was classic and historic! Lots of photos of family, movie stars, and I think I saw a few notable gangsters!? Idk I wasn’t close enough to the walls to really see haha. The chicken parmigiana we ordered for the main course was alright, I felt like it wasn’t anything to write home about, but the dessert we had there was PHENOMENAL. It was a lemoncello tiramisu with a blueberry compote and candied pistachio on top. It was moth wateringly good! The flavors melded so beautiful together making it both tangy and sweet! The candied nuts were an amazing added texture to the perfectly cooked lady fingers. Imma dream about that dessert for awhile! I might have to fly back just to have it one day!
Indeed the Porterhouse Steak was big but absolutely overpriced at $155. It’s not aged and i am not sure if it was Prime, likely Choice USDA. Party of 2 paid over $250 in that night, for the streak and penn pasta. This is ridiculous! We could have gone to a specialized steakhouse and ordered a 100day aged steak! The atmosphere is amazing, though, and fits the Broadway culture.
We visited this place yesterday. I ordered fried calamari. We ate almost the whole dish and took leftovers home. My son ate them home. And after that my son and I felt very sick during the whole night! Vomiting and diarrhea were our friends at that moment! They should check their kitchen if everything is clean there! I won't come back there for sure👎
The portions are definitely large and meant to be share between at least 3 people. Restaurant is extremely busy, even with a reservation we got our table 25 minutes later. The food was room temperature and lacked flavor. We had to catch the waiter’s attention when we needed something as he was kept busy with multiple big party tables and we were a table of 4. Definitely not a restaurant that I would return.
Had high hopes for this place- the food was pretty good but the service and the staff made it not worth it. Our waiter was overall pretty careless and it took 20 minutes to get bread for the table and it wasn’t warm or very good. Our server switched with another server halfway through and she did a great job but it definitely seemed to disrupt communication as that waiter wasn’t aware of earlier conversations. The music was at a great volume until it got turned up super loud mid meal which made the experience less enjoyable. The restaurant just didn’t seem well organized, for example customers being brought to still dirty tables and having to stand there and wait until it was cleared.
