I am glad I went to this place - I made reservation but there was a change of plan, but I still tried to make it. The steak was amazing - very tender and juicy, I actually eat too much because it was good. The mushroom was cooked in a unique way - I liked it but I always love mushrooms. The dessert and coffee was just a great closure of an amazing dinner. The service was very good - they went ways to get decaf coffee from a different place as they don’t have it at the moment.

1 - Food. 5/5. Probably the best all around steakhouse dinner we have experienced. Everything from the fresh bread with there unique spreads and there amazingly fresh and colorful Seafood Tower all the way to our amazing entrees. Drinks were served quickly and properly. 2- Service. 5/5. Don’t remember the young ladies name who helped us but she was very friendly, accommodating, warm and attentive. 3- Ambiance. 5/5. Beautiful Restaurant that’s well kept and clean. Traditional steakhouse settings. 4- Reservations. 5/5. Fairly easy to get, but we did visit this amazing restaurant at off peak hours. 5- Value 5/5. Worth every penny and then some. Seafood Tower was much less than expected but the steak was slightly over priced compared to other top notch Steakhouses in Manhattan. I would 100% return and recommend this restaurant.

Raymond was our server for tonight, and he did great. We ordered from the restaurant week menu of steak frites. Asked for medium rare. He noticed one of our steak was more towards the medium side, and he asked if everything was okay with the steak like that a couple times. He asked if we would like any changes, despite us saying it was fine he still went out of his way and took our drinks off the bill. He really didn’t have to but that was very kind of him. Thank you for this service, we will be coming back to try other stuff off their regular menu.

Raymond was our waiter and he gave superb service!! It was my birthday and they gave us complimentary champagne glasses and an awesome desert. I would highly recommend the pre-fix menu the price was very reasonable. Overall an incredible dining experience for a reasonable price. We both ordered the Caesar salad and steak frites. I got the chocolate layer cake and my partner got the cheesecake. We watched a Broadway show afterward. It was perfect to go to a pre-show dinner. Would definitely return!

Had a very delightful evening. The food was very scrumptious. The service was a bit hectic. They delivered someone else's drinks to our table and mixed up my dessert and sent me the chocolate cake instead of the cheesecake. They can be a tad more organized, considering it is fine dining, after all.

My experience at Charlie Palmer was amazing from the food to the exceptional service. The food and drinks was very good. We started with the oysters, tuna tartare, lobster bisque and jumbo shrimp cocktail. I enjoyed them all I really can't pick a favorite. For dinner we had the filet, New York strip, mac and cheese, saute mushrooms, and cream spinach. We finished with the cheesecake and chocolate cake. Apart from the tasty food this restaurant offers great service. The wait staff Raymond and Mohammed were so good we even overheard other patrons giving them praise. I don't recall the hostess name but she was very welcoming. The price is comparable to any other steakhouse. They also offer a good a good amount of non-steak selections.

If the rating was based purely on the steak, it would be a 5 star without issue. But for a steak house of this quality there were a few issues that bumped it down a star. Had dinner there last night. Salads, file mignon, mac and cheese, cheesecake, the steak was excellent, I did order it black and blue, and it arrived rare, but still within reason. Ordered the au poivre pepper sauce with it, that was a big no, way too salty, bitter, and just way too overwhelming, the steak was better off without it. The rest of the meal, mac & cheese, Brussels sprouts were tasty, good portions, and very good. The service was iffy, our waiter was very good, but it was clear he was way over extended, had too many tables to deal with, plus the usual "regulars" who demand more time and attention that he simply can't afford to give. Case in point, when the cheesecake arrived we did not get forks, the coffee did not arrive with the desert either, we had to wait about 10 minutes before the waiter came over to tell us the coffee was coming shortly, we pointed out we needed forks as well. When the forks arrived with the coffee, the coffee was lukewarm, and the attention we got in the beginning of the meal from the staff had disappeared. Overall a good dining experience, with average at best service. Charlie Palmer, you need a better manager, or hire more waiting staff.

I was extremely disappointed coming to this place. I had a reservation booked months in advance as it was my anniversary and my partner and I were looking forward to a good meal before our first experience seeing a show on Broadway and this place fell short. We ordered drinks that came relatively quickly and then started with the lobster bisque. Our soup came out decently quick to when we had ordered, but our main entree didn’t arrive until 40 mins after our soup. We gave ourselves plenty of time so we weren’t stressed about that, we just thought it was an incredibly long wait time between courses, especially when we had a 5pm dinner and were the second table seated in the entire dining room at the time. We both ordered a filet mignon and a side of mashed potatoes. Now I believe any steakhouse should expertly know how to cook a filet regardless of cooking temperature as it’s a staple - but I got a medium rare steak and it was very overdone. Completely brown on the edges and barely any pink in the center, which also made it tough to cut through. The potatoes were also bland, needed at least some salt, and the lobster bisque left more to be desired. Not to mention, our server checked on us once outside of taking our order, never came back to ask for a second round of drinks; and when we gave feedback on our food she didn’t seem to care. Long story short, if you’re looking for a good meal to splurge on a little then do not go here. This meal was not worth the $315 it was (for two steaks, one side and two drinks). Will not be going back.

We are staying at the knickerbocker, for convenience we decided to eat at the steakhouse after a long day of traveling. Everyone's food was just ok.....underwhelming. My two teens felt that the salmon dish and clam bucatini, respectively, was just average. I might have considered that simply teenage taste buds, although my daughter has been with me to many fine-dining restaurants in her past. My ribeye was tender but honestly kind of blah as well flavor-wise. So was the asparagus I ordered. Although crisp, it had no flavor popping at all. It was advertised to be served with a lemon sauce, it seemed mostly butter with very little lemon. Honestly surprised going back and reading all these highly rated reviews!! Like I said, nothing terrible but certainly nothing to write home about, especially at this price point, and given another stay at the knickerbocker, I will choose somewhere else to eat. My server was very nice though

Ordered some drinks and snacks and honestly, this place was a complete disappointment. The food was extremely average at best and absolutely not worth the price they charge. You’d expect something decent for that cost, but what we got was underwhelming and forgettable. The service was even worse. It was painfully slow, and we were ignored multiple times despite trying to get staff’s attention. The worst part? It took over 30 minutes just to get the check. When we finally did and asked to split it among three people, they somehow managed to charge each of us the full amount, effectively tripling the total bill. Completely unacceptable. This level of incompetence and lack of care for customers is shocking. Overpriced, poor service, and careless billing mistakes — definitely not coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

There is a young man that tendered bar. We sat for over an hour and was not approached on his behalf once. From asking ourselves to order, to asking ourselves to get refills, to not even saying goodbye when we left. Perhaps he has maturity issues and is intimidated to speak to adults, or he was having a bad day. Hard to tell, but for all of the steakhouses I’ve been to, this was easily the worst experience we have ever had. Ate on Saturday 12/6/2025 at 9:15 pm. We still tipped 18% against my better judgement, but I’m hoping that is shared with the team that brought us our food. The gentlemen’s that brought our food was full of energy and extremely pleasant to work with, perhaps he should be working the bar. The bar should have someone capable of having conversations and situational awareness to better serve customers.

I rarely leave bad reviews, but my visit to this restaurant was truly unacceptable. First, the food took an incredibly long time to arrive. When it finally did, the main courses were brought out before the appetizers, which made no sense at all. To make things worse, the dishes were cold by the time they reached our table. As if that wasn’t enough, one of the plates they gave me was visibly dirty — completely unacceptable for any restaurant. The service was also extremely poor. Our waitress was inattentive, unprofessional, and made no effort to fix any of the issues we experienced. Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. I definitely do not recommend this place.
