Yezo is a hidden gem! The salmon clay pot was incredible—garlicky Japanese fried rice with a perfect smoky wok flavor, topped with juicy grilled salmon and ikura. The Khao Soi chicken had a rich, creamy curry with fresh and crispy noodles—authentic and flavorful, balanced by tangy pickled veggies. The homemade coconut ice cream was the perfect finish—creamy, nutty, and delicious. Great food, great service. Highly recommend!
Authentic, aromatic, and AMAZING. This Thai place is hidden away from heavy traffic areas, but if you know about it, you’ll find yourself eating here multiple times per week. Medium spice level is very spicy for the average person who can tolerate high-ish heat. The papaya salad is the perfect way to begin the culinary experience. The Tom Yum soup is beautiful and so savory. They put a hot plate right on the table to heat up the soup. The slow cooked Beef Penang (still on the bone) was out of this world. Highly recommend ordering this. The Pad Thai is light and tasty. Not like the pad Thai you have had before. Trust me. 5 stars for atmosphere, taste, service, and overall wonderful experience.
WOW, my friends and I stumbled into this Thai spot on accident and it was the BEST Thai place I have ever had. Every single dish was a hit, and they gave us complimentary fried wonton skins and they were so airy and crispy with amazing flavor! We ordered their Tom Yum, Crab Fried Rice, Khao Pad Mun Neur, Salmon Clay Pot. We are already excited to come back to try their their Short Rib Massamam which we didn't get to try since their kitchen closed by the time we realized how amazing the food was. (Sorry we dig into the Tom Yum as soon as it came so there is not picture of it!)
Tried the Pad Thai and Thai Fried Rice and both totally delivered! The Pad Thai had tender shrimp, a slightly sweet tamarind sauce, and great texture though I would've loved a bit more tang. The Fried Rice was comforting and flavorful, with perfectly cooked chicken and just the right amount of wok char. The food was so good I completely forgot to take a photo and that says a lot! The ambiance is warm and modern, with soft lighting and a clean, minimalist vibe that makes it ideal for a chill dinner or date night. Service was kind and attentive without being pushy. Will definitely be back to explore more of the menu!
Quaint, delicious, friendly. Well worth a visit. For me, service is more important than food at a restaurant and Yezo's staff was so friendly and welcoming, that alone is worth 5 stars. The decor is unique and the restaurant vibe combined with the food made for a nice experience. I had the roti massaman and green curry with shrimp and vegetables. Both were excellent. UPDATE. I went twice in 3 days. Had the Pad Thai, which was phenomenal.
Let’s check out Yezo Thai Izankaya in Midtown for some Northern Thai dishes that sets to impress. Food is packed with flavor and cooked with care with nothing feeling generic. Gotta try their Crying Tiger appetizer. Super tender, smoky, and juicy. Another must try is their Short Rib Basil. It’s so good got me scraping the plate. Cocktails here are dangerously smooth and don’t even taste like alcohol. Super easy to down it but super hard to forget it. Don’t skip dessert because it’s something you do want to miss out on. The vibe is cozy but lively with great energy along with music that doesn’t overpower conversation. Service was on point as well. Friendly and attentive with great big smiles. Come check out Yezo for your next Thai lunch or dinner!
The vibes here are everything from the live jazz to the lighting to the amazing food. We ordered the crying tiger (which was presented beautifully), the roti (so crispy), the short rib massaman curry (im obsessed with the flavor of the curry and the short rib was incredibly tender) and the steak with garlic fried rice (the rice was sooo flavorful). for drinks we got the sao sao mocktail (so pretty! and love the lychee flavor) as well as the bangkok city (love the gradient of this). also got mango sticky rice and you just can’t go wrong with this. the service was also super quick and the waitresses were very attentive. overall an amazing spot!
Just had an amazing experience at Yezo Thai Isankaya! ✨ The cozy vibe and welcoming atmosphere immediately made me feel at home. The flavors are authentic and full of character — every bite was delicious 😍🍴. If you’re looking for real Thai food in New York, this place is a must-visit! 💛
From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt so welcoming and authentically Thai, full of beautiful details that make the place really special. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, making us feel right at home. The food was absolutely outstanding: we started with the Crying Tiger and Keaw Tod, followed by Pla Nung Manow and the Short Rib Basil, and finished with Mango Sticky Rice and two cocktails (One Night in BKK & Pattaya). Every single dish was bursting with flavor, perfectly balanced and beautifully presented. It’s the kind of restaurant where you can tell how much care goes into both the food and the experience. Highly recommend Yezo if you’re looking for authentic Thai cuisine in a warm, inviting setting.
This thai-japanese fusion spot has a 4.9 rating with over 500 reviews on Google!! The entrees and cocktails/mocktails were the highlight and made close to perfection. The salmon clay pot rice totally caught me off guard. I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did, but it’s one of those dishes I still think about. The menu definitely leans more Thai than Japanese. The appetizers were just alright, but next time, I’m going straight for the mains. *Salmon Clay Pot Rice $28.95 Cooked salmon over rice can be hit or miss, but it was done just right here. The ikura and the garlic fried rice underneath were rich and packed with umami. So satisfying. *Short Rib Massaman $34.95 Definitely a must try here. The short rib has been braised for over 24 hours. It literally fell off the bone when I tried to grab it lol. It was tender and paired perfectly with the rich massaman curry. The roti on the side was buttery, flaky, and made to scoop up every last bit. *Crying Tiger $17.95 *Keaw Tod $12.95 Served on a stone grill, the beef fully absorbed the smoky flavor. The meat was slightly overcooked even though we ate it right away. While for the crispy wontons, I expected more fillings at this price point. *Coconut Ice Cream $14 It came with three generous scoops of coconut ice cream, topped with peanuts and sweet corn. A tropical combo that could hardly go wrong. *My Summer (Mocktail) $12 *Kham Oon $17 We got Kham Oon with oolong gin which was refreshing and fragrant! I like cocktails with a milder alcohol taste so this one really hit.
Vibes, food, and music 10/10. Dishes were a mix of classic Thai and unique Thai fusion dishes. The som sum pla la (spicy papaya fish salad) especially was a highlight, as as the short rib. The staff (especially May!) also brought all the energy and were very attentive (and funny!) Would definitely visit again.
Somtam pla la was so good, so zab !! I love its. E-San Hot Pot based tom zaab soup and jaew sauce was surprising me. Good test like I had before at Thailand street food also suit in winter time like this, Recommend. The decoration also amazing and cute. Staffs were nice , friendly and helpful.
Wow, I mean what an experience! Thai-Japanese fusion in the midtown that feels like you've walked into a home. The hospitality was lovely and we consistently felt welcomed and cared for by not just our server (we'll get to her) but the whole team seemed to keep their eyes on us. I was said that, because of the snowstorm, we arrived a bit later than our reservation time so we missed Happy Hour. Nonetheless, in our first interaction with the staff, a lovely lady said with a smile that tonight was special and that we could order cocktails with the Happy Hour price anyway. What a way to begin! What I was most excited about: jazz nights are Friday 8:00pm - 9:30pm and Saturday 7:30pm - 8:30pm. We were grateful to hear (quite on brand) two fantastic Japanese jazz musicians—Mr. and Mrs. Otomo. Mr. Otomo on piano and Mrs. Otomo as vocalist. They are fantastic and played a range of jazz standards and surprise pieces, complete with impressive and ambitious improvisation. What a treat they were to hear. I even spoke with Mr. Otomo after and learned they perform here around once per month. I am excited to hear them again and other ensembles in the future. Finally, at one point, my date and I we're talking with one another about our birthdays (mine passed recently; hers is coming up) and without any notice, as we were wrapping our the bill, the server comes around with two shots and says "Happy Birthday to you, enjoy!" Unreal. Plenty of reviews talk about the food, so I'll let them take the reigns. There is too much to like about Yezo and the food deserves praise. I lived in Thailand for a month and have studied its culinary signatures, so I know the cuisine well. The tom yum noodle soup was delicious; just perfect. I'll leave it at that. Dare I say, one of the best and unique Midtown dining options. Thank you to the team, and until next time!
If you are down for a good time, good vibe and especially great food? Say less, come over to Yezo Thai! Drinks- fantastic! Food- fabulous! And for my first drunken noodle, it was delicious!!!! I would look nowhere else! And look for May because She will be the LIFE OF THE PARTY!!!!!
Cozy place with great service & delicious food. We ordered crying tiger, spring rolls, chicken satay & massaman curry with roti for appetizers. Mains was chicken basil, drunken noodles, steak basil & salmon bowl. Everything was super delicious & Molly, our server was very friendly, helpful & efficient. Would definitely recommend this restaurant as must try.
omg this needs to be the best Thai food I’ve had this year so far!!! If you get one thing from the menu, please let it be the short rib massaman, the short rib literally melts in your mouth and the sauce is so good I think I can eat three bowls of rice with it. The mango parfait was also the best way to end the meal, the mango were so sweet.
Lowkey underrated Thai spot. Came around on a Thursday at 6:30 pm, and it was empty besides one table. We made a res but you prob don’t need to. Interior is so cute! - Short rib massaman w/ roti ($34.95): 8/10, pretty good, and it came w/ roti, which the menu didn’t mention! The roti was so crispy and flakey (11/10 stars wow). The actually massaman curry was okay. Thought it would be thicker, but it was lowkey watery, and the potatoes were still kinda hard. Overall flavor was really yummy, and the meat was very tender. Wish there was more meat tho. This same dish at Pranakhon is a LOT better - Pad Thai Yezo w/ chicken ($17.95): 9/10, I actually really liked this! I’m usually not a huge fan of pad Thai, but this one had really good flavor. The chicken wasn’t tough
Yezo Thai Isankaya is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, the ambiance feels warm and inviting. The flavors are incredible—authentic Thai dishes with that perfect balance of spice, sweetness, and freshness. The presentation of each dish is beautiful, and the service is attentive without being overbearing. Whether you’re a fan of classic curries, fresh seafood, or signature cocktails, everything here hits the mark. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a top-notch Thai dining experience in the city!
Fantastic Thai restaurant in midtown east. The interior is so cozy and aesthetic and service was attentive. We had a great meal here and would absolutely come back! Crying Tiger: Grilled NY strip that was flavorful and tender. Also loved the sauce that it came with. I personally prefer my steak a bit more rare, but the flavors delivered Keaw Tod: Crispy fried wontons with a delicious chicken and shrimp filling. Super snackable and great to share Short Rib Massaman: Rich and comforting with tender short rib. Loved the roti to dip into the curry too! Larb Salmon: From the winter seasonal menu. Fresh, citrusy, and tangy in the best way. Definitely balanced out the other dishes Mango Parfait: I didn’t know what to expect but loved this. Think mango sticky rice meets ice cream parfait Drinks: My Summer (mango mocktail): Super refreshing! Melon Lar (melon mocktail): More syrupy than I expected, but still tasty if you like sweeter drinks
In the nabe, Yezo, Japanese-Isan Thai fusion. Good crab fried rice! I’ve only tried takeout but I’ll be back to have sit down. Shrimp fried rice lunch special, and crab fried rice were both really good. They did not skimp on protein. Fun atmosphere. Very nice wait staff. Food prepared fast. Will update.
Staff were friendly and food was good, but the bill was questionable. They mistakenly brought a larger dish (seen in the first two photos I took), which I didn’t touch and immediately declined. My correct order was $9 roti canai (seen in the last photo). It was delicious but a surprisingly small appetizer. Then the bill came and it was $16. Even with the tax and tips included, that’s strange for a $9 order.
