Our server Lucy was lovely and gave us great recommendations. The handrolls were a good value! My favorite by far was the blue crab!! The fried shishito pepper was so good with it. And my second favorite was the hokkaido scallop. The chef that made our roll also looked very knowledgeable and was sweet presenting the rolls to us. The salmon and the yellowtail handrolls were ok.

This place is unbelievable !! Their tuna tart and their crispy rice is just as it is a bondst and tastes amazing. Their omakase bar is also great with such fresh fish and large portions! I also LOVED their hand rolls especially their blue crab with avocado :) Their to go boxes also look insanely good. Next time I’m taking the train… this is my GO TO! The service was great and being in Moynihan train hall was super cool!

I arrived into Moynihan from out of town and got a freshly made salmon bowl which blew me away! The quality of the salmon and rice was on par with what I've had in Tokyo, and better than anything I've had in the US! I was shocked since I was expecting typical American take-out quality since this place is in the train station. It was so good that I went back again later the same day for another round. I highly recommend Yono Sushi and it will be a destination for me anytime I'm in that area again!

Hands down the best sushi I’ve ever had! Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. But what really made the experience unforgettable was the hospitality—Charlie went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and taken care of! Thank you!

We had a wonderful 12-piece sushi platter that was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. They also have a 13-course omakase & hand-rolled temaki. If you're looking for the perfect dine-in or premium sushi-to-go option (they have so many options to choose from and all prepared fresh), you have to check Yono out!

Who knew that you could find such amazing sushi in a train station food hall! From the moment we walked over to the dine in counter to the moment we left, the staff was friendly, attentive and able to answer any questions we had. Every single thing we ordered was delicious…a great way to end our NY trip before taking our train home. I highly recommend the tuna tart and tuna crispy rice…as well as mushroom, ceviche and eggplant temakis. Make sure you grab a Sapporo or saki to wash it all down!

I had the omakase and every course was fantastic. Some highlights include the salmon app, the chutoro, and the toro and caviar on fried seaweed. I went to Masa recently and this was better at less than 1/10the the price. David was attentive and knowledgeable. I’ll def be back.

Had the chance to sit at the omakase counter with Chef Andrew Oh - highly recommend booking this experience. The tuna tart and crispy rice with spicy tuna were standout dishes that gave me major BondSt vibes. The hand rolls were perfect, with warm rice and ideal fish-to-rice ratio. Also tried their to-go options - grabbed some nigiri and their Yubu to take home. Everything traveled surprisingly well and maintained its quality. The Yubu was actually my favorite thing I tried! Perfect for both a proper dining experience at the counter or grabbing quality sushi on the go. This isn't your average train station food - it's elevated sushi that happens to be conveniently located in Moynihan. Will definitely be back! Pro tip: Make a reservation for the omakase counter to watch Chef Oh work his magic.

I stopped by today for a quick bite at the sushi bar and wow. The food came fast was AMAZING , the service was spectacular and the wine was phenomenal. I don’t know his name but he wore glasses and had a beard and gave excellent service. Usually you have to beg for water but my cup stayed full. Definitely worth a visit if you have 15- 30 minutes. 👏

The service is amazing! The sushi chef was so kind and provided us with a warm and welcoming energy! The food was great, the fish is fresh and the ingredients paired with each fish in the hand rolls were out of this world. Although, you are out in the open in Penn station you genuinely do feel like you are at a restaurant. Will be going back! We had a great and we really love how they didn’t rush us and delivered each hand roll individually as if we were in an omakase restaurant We both tried each of the following: To start a crab crispy rice which was 😍 two scallops hand rolls…extremely delicious Toro hand rolls….omg! My fav so delicious I ordered seconds Then crab hand rolls…my husband ate 3 Then the chef saved the best for last the wagyu My soul left my body and came back after that bite

Fast, fresh, and delicious sushi right inside the Moynihan Food Hall at Penn Station! Ordering is super convenient — just scan the QR code at any table in the food hall and they’ll deliver your sushi right to you. If you manage to grab a seat at the sushi counter, you can even watch the chefs prepare everything right in front of you. It’s a busy spot (as expected inside a major train station), but that’s part of the energy. A steady mix of locals and travelers is always a good sign. Overall, it’s a great choice for quick, tasty, and convenient dining while waiting for your train.

I decided to stop by Yono Sushi by Bond Street, located in Moynhihan Hall at NY Penn Station, for a quick lunch as soon as I got off of the train from DC the other day. Their grab and go meals was a great option. They have quite a bit of variety from seaweed salad to freshly-made sushi. I opted for the Kani salad and a seaweed salad. The Kani salad was similar to a deconstructed California roll. It has sesame seeds and just the right amount of dressing. The seaweed salad on the other hand didn’t hit the mark at all for me. I tried a few bites, but it was a still a no for me. Oh well, the Kani salad more than made up for it. So much so, I got the Kani salad again before the train ride back to DC. If you want to grab a seat and have a proper meal at Yono, there are several seats at the counter, where you can watch the sushi chefs up close as they quickly make sushi rolls. Yono has a quick casual, zen vibe that is a perfect fit for the Moyninhan Food Hall. The cherry blossom

Nice experience had the menu set. And Smoked ceviche and miso cod appetizer. I think menu and prices changes , since menu online doesn’t have the smoked ceviche and set menu/miso cod is cheaper at the bar. I miss japan.

Pretty mediocre and very overpriced. The tuna tarts had a previously-frozen taste and the crackers on one of them were actually stale. Three of the sushi pieces had a lot of skin of them and nothing tasted great. The hand rolls were the highlight especially the one with tempura but still not great. We felt ill afterwards. Counter was cramped and the stools don’t have backs. Given the line for take-out, that might be the way to go here. The train station has a huge bathroom problem with homeless in the stalls who smell horrific. I mean you go in and it is so incredibly bad you want to throw up. It’s like the third world.

First time at this spot, first time ever even in the Moynihan Food hall. Quite a few options here and while it can be overwhelming, I settled on Yono as I was in the mood for a rice bowl with some protein. But my experience left a bit to be desired. The stanchions out front by the cold case where pre-packaged sushi lived had a decent amount of people waiting to order/pay. It was a little confusing as there were folks standing by, making the line look longer than it was. I ordered the Miso Glazed Salmon Bowl & the Spicy Tuna Sushi Rolls, totaling about $34. He told me it would be a 12-15 minute wait. I hesitated, as I was tired from a long commute and quite hungry. I ended up making the order and paying. An awkward moment lingered as I stood there looking for the sushi to eat as I waited and the cashier looked at me (presumably waiting for me to move to the side to allow the next guest to pay and order). I asked, where is the sushi I just paid for? He said, oh, it’s in the bag. I asked if I could have it to eat while I waited. He said sure, and motioned me off to the side away from the cashier. I went off to the side and received the sushi, which I began to eat at the counter. It was decent, 6 pieces, each with half a pea sized dollop of spicy mayo, with a pea sized portion of wasabi and a decent amount of picked ginger in the corner of the container. After I finished, I saw seating on the side in front of the staff preparing the sushi that I just consumed. There were several seats open, one with a small “reserved” card on it. I didn’t think much of it at that moment, just thought it was peculiar. I started putting down my various bags that I had, and a staff member kindly showed me how the seats slide out for better access, along with bag hooks underneath the counter. I thanked her and sat down waiting for my order. She said if I had any questions to please ask. Another gentleman came to say the same thing and asked if tap water was okay, I replied and said if they had sparkling, he said sure and returned with a cold bottle of San Pellegrino and a small glass. At this point I overheard someone walk up and tell the staff they had a reservation, and take a seat a few stools down from where I was sitting. While I waited for my food to be prepared, I took a look at the menu. Definitely had prices higher than I expected for a food hall establishment. The gentleman who brought me the water then came back to say if I was planning to order anything, to which I said I already ordered and was waiting on a rice bowl, which another staff member happened to bring to me in a small bag right at that moment. The first man then told me that these seats were not for people who ordered at the front. I instantly felt quite uncomfortable and apologized, stating that there wasn’t any indication from the cashier or any other staff (or any signage) stating this. He just replied saying yea, sorry. But you can pay for the water. To which I did, as I was left no other choice. After that, I enjoyed my water while still seated - or tried to. I could feel the gentleman and the young woman staff members seemingly lingering around and watching me. It made me feel VERY uncomfortable and I ended up tethering my things before I had a chance to finish to sit across from the counter in the main food hall seating area. As soon as I got up the female staff member said thank you. When I finally sat down to eat the rice bowl, it differed from what was shown on the menu with regard to the bowl and presentation, as well as portions. It was warm and such, the flavor was good, about what I would expect at the price point. But the experience for the seating arrangement left a bad taste in my mouth. For a public food hall to have reserved seating at a small bar/counter, open to the main corridor leading into the very busy train hall, seems weird. I get being different and offering an experience, but it needs to be better communicated visually and by the staff.

update: Thank you for your response and for clarifying the seating policy. We appreciate the acknowledgment that this interaction could have been handled more carefully. Even within policy, the way staff communicate with customers can make a significant difference. A paying customer politely asking to use available seating in the sushi area should be met with courtesy and guidance, rather than a quick “no.” For example, if a seat is available, the staff member could have offered the seat while explaining the sushi bar guidelines. This small adjustment in mannerisms — showing attentiveness, consideration, and willingness to accommodate when possible — would elevate the level of service and create a more welcoming experience for all guests. We share this feedback publicly because we hope it encourages the team to refine their approach to customer interactions, ensuring the hospitality matches the quality of the food. Review: The food was lovely and prepared in a timely manner. However, I was disappointed with the courtesy shown by the young man at the register today, 11/28/25 at 5:29 PM. After I paid for my sushi and vegetable curry, I politely asked if it was okay for me to sit in their seating area. Instead of responding with kindness or consideration, he told me it was only for certain customers. I hope management sees this and provides additional training to ensure a better level of customer service. His response showed no care or concern — he simply dismissed me with a quick “no.” Very disappointing service.

I was really disappointed with my order. The seaweed salad I received looked nothing like the one in the photo — completely different and not appetizing at all. The sushi was also very bland and had no flavor. Definitely not worth the price.

The food is pretty much average sushi as take away. Great for a bustling train hall. The Problem’s with the sushi bar. They change the menu after you sit down. If They don’t feel like serving you their full à la carte or tasting menu, they stick a fixed rolls only menu in front of you and say they don’t have enough staff to serve the full menu. There were four people sitting at the sushi bar. It was 5 PM on a random Tuesday, not busy. There were six people behind sushi bar. There were three additional people behind to take away counter. I guess I was being profiled. I happen to like sushi a lot. I asked if I could order from the sushi menu, as in what the folks who were sitting down having. They just couldn’t do that. Rolls only. Felt a bit like the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld. I’ll go elsewhere. For the money there’s a posh sushi and steak place in Penn Plaza across the street that does a really lovely service. I cannot recommend Yono Except for grab and go take away which is nothing exceptional, but it’s decent takeaway sushi.

I cannot recommend Yono Except for grab and go take away which is nothing exceptional, but it’s decent takeaway sushi.

The food was delicious but I got food poisoning from it on the Amtrak and was throwing up for an hour probably the uncooked salmon wasn't good quality

As one asian person to another. The asian lady who spoke to me was very rude. I asked if i could get a toothpick, to which the lady firmly and rudely replied "No." I didn't plan to give her any trouble, but I needed a toothpick at the moment (to dig something out of my friend's phone) so if she had said i needed to purchase something to get a toothpick, i would have. Everyone at moynihan probably have travelled all day. I'm sorry if you're annoyed by all the customers. Especially in NYC. I also have worked in service. But it doesn't cost a dime of your time or energy to say "Sorry, no". It's an attitude issue and shook me greatly as I was also very exhausted and mentally depleted. This restaurant seems to have a nice atmosphere and it was the busiest in the food hall. But be careful if the staff is having a bad day and snaps at you. I haven't even tried the food, and I thought the pricing was ok for inside a train hall, but I just know I won't even bother coming back to try it after how she made me feel.
