Elegant Portuguese restaurant in the Ironbound section of Newark. Most of the food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. This restaurant has a nice white linen table service and a separate bar for more casual dining.

Excellent service and appetizers, main dishes and sangria were delicious.

Had a great time here . The white sangria was good and the food was great . Anna was very nice and was a great hostess. Would definitely recommend this place for a romantic dinner date .

Outstanding Portuguese/Iberian restaurant with great meat in particular. The mixed grill (pictured) truly can feed at least 3-4 people. Great cocktails and terrific service... A real treat!

Outstanding food in a beautiful locale. My third time there and never disappoints. The garlic shrimp and rice with shrimp were delicious, and the whole fried snapper better than in the Florida Keys!

Wow! I love the atmosphere and the staff was absolutely fantastic. Kind. Helpful. Awesome! The food was off the hook delicious from the appetizers to dinner and specialty coffees with desserts. Just tremendous. They just do it RIGHT 👏🏼👏🏼

I cannot say enough great things about this place! My tiger shrimp was delicious! My entire family raved about their dishes too! Our server was great, super attentive and friendly. It was 15 of us and they were not slowed down. If you’re looking for a great place in Newark for a birthday dinner or other special event, I definitely recommend!

Amazing service. Delicious food cooked to perfection. The octopus was so tender it melted in my mouth. The prices were very reasonable considering the quality and the large portions. Nice ambiance.

Another hidden gem in the bowels of Iron Bound. The service was great. And the food was amazing. I can not wait to come back. From the Sangria, to the appetizers, to the main course, outstanding. The chorizo is done perfectly along with calamari and shrimp scampi. For the main course, I had the BIFE A PORTUGUESA. Shell steak with sunny side eggs, prosciutto, Spanish fries, and brocolli rabe in garlic demi sauce. Amazing to the last bite. I really suggest this place for a good lunch or to kick off a romantic night.

Wow. This is a bountiful and very nicely prepared “Paella Valenciana” as they call it. It’s not just Bountiful because it’s a larger serving; it’s when for example in addition to the clams and mussels in their shells, that there are lots of them hiding amongst the grains of rice but without their shells; they are like a bonus. As magnificent a serving as it is, my advice is to eat slowly to contrast the taste of lobster compared to shrimp or clams or scallops or chicken or… sausage. Why sausage? Perhaps because their excellent sausage … it flavors the back of your palette. I don’t know. But I noticed. And indeed will you too, I hope. If you didn’t notice, I'm saying that This was Tasty! Fantastic dining experience. Very attentive waitress, and a very good atmosphere. I recommend for special occasions with meals or Friday evenings with friends to just chat at the bar. This is a local spot where the staff know the usual customers. The food is top notch; the Paella is good for two people. We also got the grilled squid, tiramisu, and churros. I also liked the fresh inputted olives and bread appetizer. Stellar!

Nice Portuguese restaurant in Newark! We went for lunch and sat inside. There is seating outside under a roof as well. Nice open space layout with the kitchen as well so you can see them cooking! Fresh meats and fish on display as well. We had the Portuguese sausage appetizer and the steamed clams with garlic both were cooked perfectly and very tasty. They also give you bread and olives to start as well. I had the picayune medium rare which was cooked perfectly. Seasoned nicely. And the "lullas" ..whole small squid with spinach and broccolini and potatoes. Also came out perfect. A chocolate mousse and a double espresso. Plenty of room in this restaurant and nicely decorated. Parking lot outside as well as spots on the street. I would definitely recommend trying this place anytime you're in the area.

If you come here you're going to get the ultimate Portuguese experience. Great food, great service. The staff is super friendly and so accommodating. All the food here was authentic and delicious. You will not be disappointed. Has parking and is handicap accessible.

Campino’s is my favourite restaurant when I’m in NJ visiting with my spouse, & when I’m in Canada I miss it dearly! My spouse and I share a love for Campino’s & go as often as we can when we’re together. We always get the same thing, prosciutto + cheese platter to start, skirt steak with roasted potato’s and vegetables, crème brule for dessert & sparking red berry sangria to drink! Their service is always outstanding, and have never encountered any issues with the waiters/waitresses or the food. Everything is always incredible from start to finish. We have gone to campino’s to celebrate special events like our engagement, & the birth of our son! Campino’s is always our #1 choice. It’s like a hidden gem. 💎

The meal began the warm and friendly service, a dish of delicious olives and soft rolls. Our meals were yummy but the real showstopper are the desserts! I don’t have pictures of them because I had to dig right in. I got the chocolate cake and my friend got the cheesecake both were phenomenal.

Everything was very great and well prepared. The steaks were perfectly seasoned and cooked with thick cuts. Sangria is one of the best we have had in Newark. Friendly service and festive atmosphere rounded out an excellent experience at this authentic Portuguese restaurant.

Great hidden gem in the middle of New Jersey. Restaurant has its own parking and plenty of room inside. Total bill was quite high $$$ but food was worth it. Juicy fish and meat, fresh salads, and server was highly welcoming and knowledgeable.

Despite the abundance of Portuguese dining options in Newark’s Ironbound, Campino has earned a spot on my return list. We arrived early on a Sunday evening around 5:30 PM and practically had the restaurant to ourselves initially, which created an intimate dining atmosphere. The space filled up nicely about 30 minutes later, suggesting this is a popular local spot. Our waiter was exceptional – friendly, personable, and knowledgeable about the menu. He took time to answer our questions and made us feel welcome throughout the meal. We started with a pitcher of red sangria that was absolutely delicious and perfectly balanced. My wife ordered the classic paella, which lived up to expectations with particularly fresh scallops that stood out. The rice was perfectly cooked and the seafood selection was impressive. I had the ribeye and shrimp, and despite one small issue, it was excellent. The steak was incredibly flavorful and tender – so much so that it didn’t need any sauce. My only complaint was that I requested medium but received something closer to medium-well. However, the quality was so good that it remained tender even when reheated the next day, which speaks to the kitchen’s skill. The restaurant offers private parking, which is a significant advantage in this busy neighborhood and makes it more appealing than some competitors in the area. With so many Portuguese restaurants to choose from in the Ironbound, Campino distinguishes itself through quality food, excellent service, and practical amenities. The minor issue with steak temperature doesn’t overshadow the overall positive experience, and I would definitely return and recommend it to others looking for authentic Portuguese cuisine in Newark.

The food and service were outstanding. Best bacalhau a lagareiro I’ve ever had in a restaurant. Same goes for the calamari appetizer. Steaks and paella were also perfect.

I wish I lived closer. They have the best red sangria.The food is amazing, if you have a show at prudential, this is a must visit for dinner before or after.

Great food, music vibes, but the service was unfortunately bad. Too long wait for keep ordering things. Wasn't even full.

There is parking available. It is a nice looking place. The food was really good. We were a table of 7 guests. All dishes were really delicious. We weren't so lucky on our waiter. Maybe he wasn't on his best day, but he didn't take one guest order. When all were done with their food then my arrived since we only realized that my order wasn't take while everyone had their food and one never came. The waiter didn't came to our table not even once to check on how we were doing. He would have realised that one order was missing if he did. We had empty glasses and he didn't come to take more drinks order neither. We had to get his attention. We had dirty plates and empty glasses for a long time on our table. He also forgot to bring one dessert. I asked if they would forget to bring the check but that came right away. They forgot to bring my card back, but that I would not let them keep.

Went in to eat lunch and place was pleasant. Order the rolled chicken pasta plate, which was a great and worth it, enough that I had to pack some to go. Everyone that came with finished their plate. I admit the plate was a little heavy, but it was yummy. Service was courteous, although we did run out of beverages and had to ask for it. All in all, great food and good service.

Nice setting. Shrimp w/ garlic and paprika appetizer was very good. The Mariscada and Ribeye dishes were good. Mix’s veggies w/ ribeye were great. Excellent service.

Food was good, service needs a bit improvement. Great place to watch a Football or soccer game, atmosphere was great.

Service is decent. Price is a bit high, but the portion is good. Food is not bad. I didn’t like the paella. My husband had the lamb chops and he loved it.

The service was good, the wine was nice but we weren't impressed with the food. The Pysters were not fresh and very dry. The COD tasted good but quality of fish wasn't great. A little pricey for what is offered. I may not return.

Server tried her best and was extremely personable, considering her primary responsibility was the hostess… Restaurant attempted to capitalize on the fact that there was a show in town, and service, food suffered… After waiting more than 1 hour, water arrived with request for cocktails. Apps arrived (clams casino raw)….after another 45 min wait our party of 5 had enough and left… Beware!!! I will not be having diner again at this establishment. They really should be ashamed.
