Food and service was great! Each entree is roughly $11-17, with large portions. The curry comes with garlic bread and soup. We also got a free scoop of ice cream at the end!
A classic Hong Kong style cafe...... Milk tea and lemon tea are fantastic!!
An authentic Hong Kong-style bistro. Quality and quantity of food are good, service is amazing (HK-style). It gives you a brief experience of visiting HK. Cash only btw...
Great place for a light dinner in the evening! Nothing fancy but good comfort food at a fair price!
I had their baked pork chop and it was delicious and it came with a tomato vegetable soup that was flavorful. Service was great! They only accept cash or Venmo for payment.
This is my new favorite restaurant in Newark now. Everything about our lovely lunch was an enjoyable experience. The service was kind and patient with my mom and I as it was our first time here. The spring rolls, potstickers, black pepper beef bell pepper rice plate, pork chow mein, seafood fried rice and red bean icey drink was delicious. One of the servers was an amazing singer on karaoke and the staff all eats together family style. It’s a laid back and fun atmosphere. Would return with friends, family or dates in the near future. 😊❣️👍✨
I'm looking for a Hong Kong style restaurant in the area. Fairwood Cafe showed up in my search with good reviews, so we decided to have our dinner there. I like the restaurant layout. It matches my memory of how a Hong Kong style restaurant should be. The food is pretty good. I love the best Hainan chicken and salty fish chicken fried with two kinds of vermicelli. The lady who served our tables was super attentive. I know I'll be back again soon.
Authentic Cantonese diner food with friendly service and reasonable prices. My go to order is always the baked pork chop rice, and it did not disappoint. The chow fun was also some of the best we've ever had. Bonus points for being open until midnight!
Update June 15 2025 Fathers day Breakfast - Everywhere was crowded so we went here. Never been here in the morning and they have a breakfast menu from 9:00 to 11:00. My partner says it is a modified version of the Hong Kong menu. So aside from the soup you see here, they also have porridge and other foods but it's a pretty simple menu. Only six different choices. They have a brunch menu after 11:00 and apparently at includes savory crepes. So something to try next time. But the big thing is if you are really stuck looking for a place for Father's Day, give Fairwood a try. Or any Sunday when Denny's, IHOP and other cafes are packed. Update, 1/17/25 Happy New Year! Back at Fairwood for our comfort food fix Mine is P25, bok choy and rock cod, partner got vegetable beef chow fun with gravy. Both delicious. The beef is perfectly tender, not overdone. Fish and bok choy is enough for two so I will have leftovers for tomorrow We also got the complimentary vegetable soup and bread, and at the end, small dishes of ice cream. Vanilla and mango tonight. Love this place. The go to late night place for Cantonese food in the Hayward Newark area. Very yummy food - this was the beef chow fun and a pineapple smoothie(?). Beef is wonderfully tender, the gravy was very good (I am a dry chow fun guy myself but partner likes the gravy). we've been here multiple times. It gets pretty busy after 10 some nights. Parking is easy, in the shopping center lot. Easy access to HWY84 and the Nimitz. This is CLASSIC Hong Kong fare because on they have a lot of interesting choices influenced by the colonialism of the UK and Portugal. If you try the other side of the menu there's all sorts of interesting dishes. Tonight a seafood omelette and French fries, and partner got dry beef chow fun. They have other fun stuff to try.

Friendly, efficient staff. Food was delicious and as a bonus we were given a free cup of vegetable soup as an appetizer then after our meal we were offered free ice cream! How nice. And the ice cream was very creamy and delicious above average in quality. Great meal.
Had dinner with my son over the weekend. He joked about wanting crispy noodles, which made me think of Cantonese pan-fried noodles, so we tried Fairwood. We ordered tomato beef pan-fried noodles, black pepper chicken steak with rice, and salt-and-pepper chicken wings. The pan-fried noodles were excellent — perfectly crispy with rich tomato sauce and tender beef. The chicken steak was thick, juicy, and crispy on the outside. The black pepper sauce was slightly salty but worked well with rice. The wings were meaty and juicy. The set came with borscht, garlic toast, and dessert. Everything was freshly made and served hot. Really happy to discover this place — it’s now my top cha chaan teng choice.

I was craving Hong Kong style cuisine so my kid and I decided to have lunch here on Friday around 1:30pm. We were seated immediately and the server was kind to give my kid a juice box. I ordered baked pork chop with rice to eat there and salted fish & chicken fried rice to go. The server gave us complimentary tomato soup and garlic bread which were good. We waited around 15 minutes as expected for baked item. The portion for baked pork chop was generous. Even after sharing this dish with my hungry kid, we still have some leftovers. The sauce was tomato based and on the sweeter side - which I like. The pork chop pieces were tender yet crispy on the outside. My only complaint was the pork chops were a bit thinner than from other restaurant. The gooey cheese were perfect to complement the dish. The fried egg was perfect (esp. the crispy edge!). The fried chicken was good too. Overall, it was delicious! The salted fish & chicken fried rice was delicious as well. The rice had the perfect firm texture as in Chinese fried rice. However, I wish that there were more pieces of salted fish as it was a bit lacking. Overall, it was good food and I'll be back to try different menu. The restaurant is cash only. It was located next to McDonald's (across 99 Ranch).
Authentic Hong Kong style cafe. Came in after 10pm for late snack. It’s worth a visit. Cash only.
Loved the food. I missed the Hong Kong style milk tea and toast. The only issue was that they only accept cash.
Service was better than the food😄 My kid liked the Hai Nan chicken though.
Named after a popular chain fast Hong Kong style food restaurant. This little Hong Kong style cafe brought me the nostalgia of Cha Chang Tang in the malls of the local housing estate in the 90s. There are a vast variety’s of Hong Kong style dishes with a cheaper afternoon tea set option at $13.50 which included a drink. The portion of the afternoon tea set was generous enough which fills up my husband’s huge stomach. Sauce of the backed black pepper chicken smelled just like what we had in Hong Kong with fried rice, though my husband said the cheese made it a bit too salty. My dish was a unique stir fried salted fish and chicken rice noodle, which was a mixture of egg noodles and rice noodles I have not seen in other places in the Bay Area. The salted fish was just right though I think more chicken would be appropriate. The portion was so big that I shared with my husband and still have one full box to take home. The overall service was excellent cus the server offered me the option of warm water or ice water when she knew I’m not ordering any drinks. After an hour, we had the after taste of MSG that made us extremely thirsty, but I think this is somewhat unavoidable in the majority of Chinese cuisines.
Okay, we were lowkey sussed out by seeing an Asian restaurant serving so late at night but decided to try it since it couldn’t be worse than our other options of In N Out or McD’s at 11PM. But to our pleasant surprise, this place was pretty great! I was impressed with how extensive their menu is. Not only do they serve a multitude of Asian/Chinese dishes, but they also offer breakfast dishes like crepes, eggs, as well as fries and nuggets! We visited on a late Tuesday night and the restaurant was pretty busy so we took that as a good sign. The portions were huge for such decent pricing. We got the beef chow fun (amazing!), veggie crunchy stir fried noodles, and black pepper steak dishes. We also got the mango milkshake which was good but extremely sweet. We didn’t have to wait very long for our food to come out at all. HOWEVER : I will note that one of us ordered the beef ramen and got very very ill shortly after (intense sweating and nausea)… definitely steer clear of this dish 🚫😷 Otherwise, the rest of us had a great experience and were pleasantly surprised. Hopefully this business continues to make great food available late night all while keeping decent prices!

the menu is basically a hong kong café menu. their wonton noodle and beef stew rice noodle are my go to choices here. never a disappointing trip. very reasonable prices. FYI, they're cash, venmo or zelle payment only. no credit cards.

It's a real Hong Kong style cafe but the food quality is average. The same for Hong Kong style milk tea. The price and sevice is good though. They will give you soup and toasted garlic bread for any orders. Good deal.

There was a piece of glass in the carry out. We were there last evening. I ordered combo A, had half of it, then packed the left over to bring home. Next day, I tried to finish the left over and felt something when chewing. I could not believe that was a piece of glass in the food. I thought it might just be a piece of rock sugar. No, the hammer couldn’t break it.
