Great place to get your sushi fix. Warm atmosphere and great service. Food was awesome.
The best sushi in the entire area and county. . Everything here is a very high quality seafood. I REPEAT Everything here is a very high quality seafood. There is no fake in it. The staff make you feel like family and everything is very professional .
I’ll be back! This is clearly a locals place. A few regulars walked in and exchanged jokes with the owner. It has a local watering hole feel and I’m hoping to be one of the regulars one day. The owners are incredibly friendly and the service is fast and great! Not to mention, the fish was very fresh and the rolls include large fish portions. If you’re anywhere nearby, you’ve got to stop in
Fresh and flavorful, from all I’ve tried across the US, this place takes the cake. This is a family owned and ran restaurant and you can tell when you’re in there. The chef will come and hang out with you and service is quick and delightful. Whenever I’m in the Bay, this is where I eat sushi. 10/10 would recommend
One of my favorite sushi places in the Fremont/Newark area. Owner is a lot of fun, especially when invited to take sake bombs with you. He greets and thanks all patrons. Goes out of his way to please the customers and ensure they enjoy their visit. Waiters are all friendly & the miso soup is the best I've had anywhere else in the area. Clean bathrooms, lots of seating, multiple TVs, and a birthday wheel. Definitely stop in and enjoy a meal with family or a few friends.
Great dishes, ultra fresh fish, that some would call "buttery." Sushi shef was great! Staff was very attentive. One roll had an... interesting flavor. It took some getting used to. But good in any respect.
Husband and I went to this restaurant for our second time on Christmas Eve for dinner and were happy that they were still open. Food was delicious and good portion size. I ordered a chicken donburi and husband ordered a couple rolls including the raw salmon and the Finding Nemo. He suggests sticking to the seafood sushi since the teriyaki chicken rolls didn’t make sense to him.
Our favorite sushi place. The staff are always friendly and the service is always quick. The food is great, whether a Bento box or our favorite roll!
My family and I love this place. We've been regular customers for a few years. I just want to say thank you to the chef and the stuff for being open during the Covid time. I highly recommend this restaurant to all my friends. The food is always great. The service is very nice. Thank you! :)
Food was amazing!! Sat at a table and service was great. Waitress was very nice. We even got the chef to interact with us. I can't wait to go back! ....
We've been going to this amazing sushi restaurant since their soft opening 4-5 years ago. The food quality is always great, and service is fantastic. We've brought many friends and relatives there to see a great hometown restaurant with amazing fresh sashimi, hand rolls, and bento boxes.
The place is clean, food is fresh and people are nice! The sizes here for the rolls are huge.. you won't regret eating here. Also Starbucks right near by before passing out from the delicious food.
I seriously love this spot!! Everyone is SO nice and the food is delicious. It's fresh, tasty and fun.
Monday April 11th is the Harumi Sushi & Tofu House Aniversary, my fiancée and I stop by for dinner, we were told by a couple of family members that they were celebrating their aniversary. When we arrived around 6 PM it was almost full however luckily a table was available for us. Everybody seem to know the motive for celebration and we were told by the waitress as she brought the menu that drinks were on the house as their aniversary celebration. We understood right away the reason why everybody's mood to celebrate! Definetly the ambiance was apropiate for adults, but we saw some kids coming with adults smiling. Some laughs and talks were loud however not at all disrespectful to others. I told my fiancée before we leave: I want to do something for the owner and employees, so I stop to every table and asked: 'Would you joing me at the count of 3 to shout' "Happy Aniversary"? and every single table said "Yes" so, We did it: At The Count of ONE, TWO and THREE: "HAPPY ANIVERSARY" we all yelled at one voice at the top of our longs, that was HUGE moment for everybody in there, following that... we left. It was exciting! Have you ever done something like that? It was fun! Tom & Rosie
Delicious and not only quality but their time and experience of making sushi will be something you will take away after eating here. Diverse variety and great taste, fun and lively atmosphere is also encouraged!
Harumi still around and going strong (thankfully). Great spot for large groups. Owner Jun always has a smile & is kind and welcoming. My go-to for sushi whenever up in the bay area.
Very lovely, I come here often, and the staff are always so cheerful and sweet. On non busy days, they’ve given me miso soup on the house and appetizers. Food is always great every time too! Never a long wait to be seated which is great.
We had a great experience here, food was amazing, staff authentic to culture. We had the Lion King roll, Bay scallop and Dragon Roll for our main dish. We also tried the fried oysters. Of course, my wife had to try the smoked Salmon (Salmon Nigiri).
Food is wonderful, the boss, JUN, is very friendly. We have lots of fun having meal at here!!🥰🥰
The #5 Bento box is great! The food here tastes delicious. Also The Bomb (jalapeño bomb) is really good. The service is great also. I will definitely come back and recommend this place.
Always the best freshest sushi - usually get to go - main chef always courteous and generous portions. Typically get the seafood salad or chef's choice combination sushi - extra ginger/wasabi - so good. Recently tried their Beef Udon soup - one of the best!
Cozy place, with very good sushi! I loved how they put the internet password on the wall so you can connect without having to ask for it!
Super fun place! Best sushi in town. Highly recommended!
Great food and service. Highly recommend to everyone who wants Sushi or Bento Box

We got in and seated fast, it wasn't too loud. Good music. Games on TV. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was AMAZING. There was plenty of options on the menu. I ordered two specialty rolls and both exceeded my expectations. Would come again

Came here on a Friday night. There was a little bit of a crowd. The service was a little slow as there were only 2 girls coving the whole restaurant. But the food was amazing. Can't wait to go back and try more.
My daughter and I were craving for udon soup, but it's hard for us to find vegetarian udon soup with vegetable broth. We looked over the menu online and decided to give this place a try. There are so many vegetarian rolls we want to try but we won't be able to eat it all so we decided on sharing Broccoli Roll then we each had the Vegetable Udon soup. Udon soup was steamy hot just the way I like it, for the first time I can actually take my time eating my udon soup instead rushing it before it gets cold.😒 (I hate warm soup it's like by the time I'm half way thru my soup it's already cold 🙄) Both Broccoli Roll & Udon soup were delicious we are definitely coming back for more!!
Sushi 🍣 was good 👍 but the service was a bit inadequate. They brought out the sushi 🍱 on the same plates and it totally 💯 confused 🤔 us with regard to who’s rolls are whose? Caused some unneeded friction at our table but it all worked out 💪🏻 in the end. Orders sake bombs 💣 but they never 👎 came 🙄. Nevertheless, the ambiance was alright and the sushi chef 🧑🍳 was loud, obnoxious and pretty funny 😆 if you ask me. He would randomly yell, “cheers” and visit with patrons taking sake 🍶 shots together. Nice 😊 experience and will be coming back.

Great customer service here. Very welcoming. My roll didn’t have all that was listed but still a good amount of fish and high quality ingredients.
We almost cancelled our advance reservation for a group of 16 after reading a few negative reviews .But we're glad we did not cancel after we personally went and check the place itself and find the special cozy segregated Japanese room at the side end of the restaurant a very inviting and well suited for our big noisy group. We didn't mind paying extra $25 for requesting the special room . The lady that we made reservations with was very friendly and accommodating .The owner was warm and friendly and very considerate of our request to extend our stay for a group prayer .Everybody were happy with the food they ordered which were served in a timely manner . Service was great . Sashimi was fresh to the delight of my husband . All the Bento boxes ordered were delicious .. Will recommend for any a large group gathering or any small or intimate dinner for two Lou and Aurora

I was there a couple of days ago for a business meeting and luckily my customer is the one who choose the restaurant because on my opinion it wasn’t worth it, first the lady waitress is not very friendly and would not give us the expected attention considering there was not that many people. We order e couple of rolls and some sashimi sampler and while the sashimi was cold (a must for raw fish) it didn’t taste fresh, mainly didn’t taste fresh. The rolls 2 of 3 we ordered were fried but were cold upon arrival and the third one was super plain and no flavor. I like sushi a lot, and I ate a lot of other places before to be able to compare the food with other places, I do know I will not come back here as the food was not on par with their prices and the quality wasn’t all there.
This sushi was ok average i have to admit. The waitress gave great service. The sushi comes on ice cold which is a must when you eat sushi. They do have unique combinations in fish that's a nice change. This restaurant doesn't close in the middle of the day so, you can stop by anytime during the day.
This place has potential. Could have fresher food and better presentation. Dishes are dirty. The little Asian man (not sure if she’s a guy or girl) is pretty rude and dismissive. Cozy feel to it but again, not clean. Portions are okay.
The service (our waitress) was good and the food was good but we wont be back because of stuff we witnessed while eating. The sushi chef was getting wasted behind the bar taking shot after shot w customers. Not a big deal but wait. Then he started sneezing behind the bar by the food, he sneezed litterally like 30 times barely covering his mouth. It was disgusting and disturbing. The restaurant cleared out and then we heard someone puking somewhere in the restaurant. Someone had too much fun.
I had not been in here in several years and I'm so so sorry I came back. The fish was absolutely terrible quality half the order we ordered we sent back. Definitely not a place to go if you crave good fish and high-quality this place is substandard for fish. We ended up stopping off somewhere else for food on the way home cuz we were still so hungry.. Avoid this place at all costs!!
Their teriyaki is terrible! I literally couldn't eat, fed to my pups. The chicken itself was a little dry but ok, it was their sauce that made it inedible. It didn't taste like any teriyaki sauce I've ever had, it was more like soy sauce. It was not sweet at all and very salty. Also the California roll I had had a distinct vinegar taste. The gyoza were ok but a bit soggy (was a Togo order but only took like 5 minutes away they were soggier than I would have expected). The lucky 7 roll my boyfriend had was ok, not bad but not great either (the only reason for the two stars). It also completely fell apart while trying to eat it so was very messy (which wouldn't matter if it was that delicious but it wasn't). A bunch of reviews talk about the prices being low but I didn't see that (bento box was 15.95 and roll was around 15 too). They're not expensive but not worth what they charge, they are on par with nicer Japanese restaurants. Pier 98 is just across Newark Blvd. prices are similar but much better food and nicer restaurant. One last thing is that their togo boxes are styrofoam so part of one had melted slightly which is never good. Definitely won't be back and don't understand how this place has so many good reviews.
tldr; used to be great for the price, but service and quality of sushi are getting worse. My girlfriend and I have been going to Harumi locations for over 5 years and always had good service and food at the Cupertino store. We moved to the East Bay and realized we were 5 minutes away from the Newark store and went regularly. The owner often drinks behind the bar and can get loud and belligerent. He also has a megaphone, so we decided to only order to-go. The sushi has gotten worse, and sometimes our order was missing items. On top of that, we got sick from the sashimi twice now. We decided to stop going altogether, but miss the old restaurant.
I was a regular here at this spot up till these last few times. The owner is the sushi chef and provides a fun atmosphere however, lately he gets too drunk as he makes sushi and takes forever greeting everyone with saki shots. I waited 1hour and a half for 2 rolls today !!! the rolls were tiny small and not wrapped correctly having them falling apart. I believe this has to do with the sushi chef/owner being drunk daily as he is working ….I hope the get it together because the food use to be really good and they had decent service.

I would give this place a zero if I could. This is the worst restaurant experience ever. We went this afternoon. The owner (calls himself "sexy June") and another customer who said he was a regular were ultra loud. They were doing shots and shouting each time they did a shot. This is wrong at several levels. It's a regular restaurant (not a pub or a bar) and one would mistake it for being family friendly from the looks of it. While I have seen loud guests at restaurants, I have never seen the owner of an establishment ruin the experience for the patrons. We complained to our waitress. While the owner stopped screaming, this one clearly drunk patron kept talking very loudly and no effort was made to ask him to calm down. When we again complained to our waitress, she just said we could leave if we didn't like it. But our children are very young and were hungry. It was lunchtime on a weekend. That we, as paying patrons, had to choose between our kids going hungry and putting up with rude inconsiderate restaurant ownership is indeed sad.
There is an older man who screamed through a blow horn while drinking Sake shots. Very annoying to say the least. Right in people's ear! His staff tried to tell him but he didn't care. He wasn't funny at all. We will never be back!
Horrible service. People sat after me and ordered more sushi than (I ordered one roll) I did and their sushi came out first. Then I was never asked again if I'd like to order anything else, which I was planning on ordering the Greg roll. The people next to places an second order and received their food. It was not even busy. I'll never come here again.
Worst service EVER! Waited for 1and half hours for only 3 rolls, waitresses very unprofessional. Asked for a box to go and took them 20 min to bring it to me. Asked for the check and took them 1 min to bring it. I was trying to keep it nice and coo, but when you have hungry children with you, and the people around you who got there way after you start getting their food it is very unacceptable!! They kept telling us food was coming. Oh, and they didnt even bring my bento box by then I just told them to cancel the order and got up to paid.
Horrible service. We told them we were waiting for 2 people, total 6 in our party, they still served us the miso soup before the others showed up. When they got there, their soup was could and the server would not take it back for hot soup. My sister ordered Udon Seafood, we all got our rolls and Bento Box, but her noodles never came, when asked where it was, they said they would check, but never came back. So we made it known that we weren't happy. Then, the whole cooking staff, dishwashers, owner and waitresses, had to stand behind the sushi bar and just stare...yet no one still didn't come over to rectify anything. We were there for 2 hours and never got a refill of hot tea or water or even asked how the food was. We had to talk loudly to get our check...it's like we didn't even exist...well, since that was the case, a tip didn't exist either. My husband was told that my sister's noodles were given to another table. Seriously? No one could come and tell us that? Now I understand why the restaurant was not crowded on Mother's Day at 6:00 for dinner. Everything has gone downhill here. This used to be my favorite place to eat, but I will NEVER return, and I suggest, unless you like horrible service and not receiving your food...DO NOT EAT HERE.
Came here to eat for 1st time today. I was horrified by the guy behind counter making the rolls. He was clearly sick hacking and spitting mucus off to the side, coughing all over the food bar area. Not covering his cough at all. No mask. Then decided to cough in his hand and reply his hand to the roll he was making. I couldnt enjoy the food we ordered. Had to leave after reporting the unsanitery and health risk it was to the lady there that was serving us. No apology or concern and lady seemed more concerned about the wasted food.
I dropped in for lunch on a Thursday. The place was clean, pleasant, but empty. I ordered the lunch Bento #1. The service was quick and the Bento box looked good. From the first bite, everything went downhill. The chicken teriyaki, gyoza, and tempura lacked flavors. The chicken was chewy, the gyoza was mushy, and the tempura batter was rock hard. The tempura sauce tasted like watered down soysauce. I was so disappointed.
Ordered online today. Picked it up and food was horrible at plain sight. The seafood soft tofu I ordered medium spicy. My husband and I both tried it and it had no flavor or spice. My husband didn’t even eat it. Also ordered chicken karage for my 2 year old and it was over cooked. It was so hard she couldn’t eat it either. I ordered the #12 bento box for myself and it was ok. The sashimi pieces were so much smaller that any other place. The tempura was hard and the beef bulgogi was just blah. I called before we even started eating to let them know the food was not good but all the lady said was it is good and everybody likes it. I told her no I want to bring the food back and get a refund but all she could say is to bring it back and she can redo it for us. Would not really trust that so decided not to. Never going back. Ohh and I did try to eat my husbands seafood soft tofu soup but could not. The seafood was rubbery and just no flavor at all to the broth.
I'm not sure that am I don't know what is hot pot, or the chief doesn't know what is hot pot. And on the menu, it definitely shows that all of the ingredients should in the stone pot. But I got a ceramic plate? Excuse me? Am I looks like a 3years kids who have no idea about stone and ceramic?
Absolutely the worst tofu soup I've had in my life. I got the beef extra spicy tofu soup. It had a flavorless watered down broth with strange ingredients like bulgogi, fried tofu skin, and fish cake, almost like they just threw in a bunch of random leftover stuff that should never go in soondubu. Not authentic or spicy at all. Add that to the fact that they ran out of regular rice at 730pm and gave me sushi rice instead... It was very strange to see these ingredients in a soup made by Korean shopowners.

The reviews are no exaggeration. As soon as we walked in the chef was coughing on the sushi rolls repeatedly without covering his mouth & for everyone to see. Not that I care but in the 20 mins I was there he had taken 3 shots with his regulars. My partner and I were put off by the coughing when our rolls arrived after trying to cancel the order so we wasted $50 to not eat our food.
