Tonight (12-28-24) was my first time eating at Eddy’s. I arrived approximately 7:30ish. I am basing my opinion on my experience only. When I arrived there was a gentleman cleaning up a bit. He welcomed me in immediately and apologized that the place wasn't organized due to him cleaning up. That didn’t bother me at all. In fact I like a restaurant that the workers make it their business to provide a clean environment for their customers. The restaurant isn’t huge in my opinion. In fact I thought of it as quite nice and cozy. However the place was filled with things that resemble the Jamaican culture. The restaurant has a large selection of beverages and bakery goods such as bread, bun, crackers etc. The menu was off to the right side of the wall and appeared to be visible. I was then greeted by a lovely lady. I asked if she had oxtails and she said yes. She offered small, medium, and large plate sizes. She made me a medium plate with oxtails, cabbage, rice and peas, and plantains. When I got home, I started to eat my food of course. The plate was heavy to say the least. This is the first restaurant that is NOT afraid of giving you what you need. There was a generous amount of oxtail on the plate. I asked for gravy and she gave me lots. The food was amazing. The oxtail came off the bone as soon as I picked one up. The food was fresh, and very filling. The rice and peas and cabbage did not disappoint me. I could taste the rich spices and flavorful ingredients. I definitely will be returning back to Eddy’s. I can’t wait to try the goat and jerk chicken. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for real authentic Jamaican cuisine.

The oxtail are the bomb and personally they taste better with white rice. The plantains are always on point, the cabbage is crunchy yet cooked all the way through. I even tried their sugar dough and it was on point. Even taste good room temp too. Phenomenal 😎

Ordered medium oxtails. They were nice and tender, tasty and nicely flavored. Cartilage was nice and easy to take off the bone.

Recently found this Awesome Jamaica Spot!!! The Food is Absolutely Delicious, Well portioned and well priced. Service with a Smile, I've visited 3 times and the Staff has always been pleasant and most helpful, I'm definitely gonna be a regular customer. Keep up the Delicious cooking!

It is not often you find a place to 'get the right amount of food that you pay for'. I go to restaurants often and there are some that when you pay for your food you do not get enough. This place gives you enough. The exterior of the place is colorful, and the interior of the place is clean and you can sit down to eat, however due to the pandemic it is limited. You will wait on line if there are people there because the service care about what you have asked for and we'll fill your order. I have visited This Place several times and the people behind the counter seem to generally care for their food and the service that they provide to the people. That's a plus. The food is very good and tasty. And as I stated before you get what you pay for it and they want to make sure that you are well fed. You can also pick and choose what you want. Enjoy your meal.! Lastly, be careful with the parking in the area, it is metered Zone, and there is a fire station across the street from it. Otherwise, enjoy your meal.

I have been to Eddy's Jerk Center exactly 7 times so far, I have tried the curried goat, the oxtails, brown stewed chicken, curried chicken, beef and chicken patties.. EVERYTHING tastes delicious!! The portions are huge, the food seasoned to perfection, the peas & rice with veggies are so good! To top it off, there is an overall kindness felt from Eddy and his staff. Try this authentic Caribbean restaurant, you'll be happy you did!!

🌶️ 4 out of 5 – Still one of Newburgh’s best for Jamaican takeout. Eddy’s Jerk Center delivers where it counts: bold, authentic flavor. I’ve only ever ordered takeout, but from every visit, the food speaks for itself. The oxtail with white rice, fried fish, and their breakfast plates are consistently solid—flavor-packed, well-prepared, and worth the trip. The service earns a 4 out of 5. The staff can come off a bit short, but it’s more confidence than coldness—they know they’re serving some of the best food in the area. Orders are accurate, and the timing’s always reliable. Parking is the main drawback—inconvenient and often limited to across the street. Not ideal when you’re trying to grab and go. That’s a clear 2 out of 5 on convenience. And yes, let’s talk about the plantains. Love them, but Eddy’s can be stingy with the portions—usually just one or two strips, even on a full entrée. A little more generosity here would go a long way. Still, the food outweighs the minor issues. I got the medium oxtail plate with rice and peas and it was sooo good. For the price I would have liked a little more meat but besides that I was satisfied.

The food here is pretty good, but when I stopped by last week, the guy behind the counter wasn't pleasant at all. Could use an adjustment in his attitude.

After moving up to Dutchess County from Mount Vernon, NY I miss having access to go to White Plains Road, Bronx to be able to get my fixin on some Jamaican food. So when I saw the 'Jamaican Food' sign driving through Newburgh, I parked and ventured in. I am very—very glad that I did. The Jerk Chicken dinner ($10 medium) was HUGE. (I ate 2 filling meals from it.) And here is the important part... this is not like many other spots that call it Jerk Chicken and just grill some chicken with Jerk BBQ sauce, No. The Jerk chicken I ate was seasoned through and had a nice level of heat to it. I most certainly will be back!
