Saffron Indian Cuisine

I just ate here for the first time ever. I’ve been missing out, my meal was so good. I’m no Indian food expert this is probably only my second experience. I ordered the chicken vindaloo, asked for it spicy…it was spicy and delicious…I think it’s and instant new favorite dish for me. I highly recommend trying saffron out. As soon as you walk in your transported to a completely new world with the Indian decor and the delicious smell of curry cooking and home of one of my new favorites dishes.

I always judge my favorite Indians by the quality of their Naan and mango chutney, and their naan are one of the best thinner than some but perfectly cooked. The mango chutney appeared to be blended as it had a similar texture to Motts apple sauce, saying that it tasted good and was perfect on the poppodams. The mango chicken and rice were again perfectly cooked. The Kheer was good, but not the best, however was a good finish. If you had any doubts about how good the food was my dishes were spotless and the perfect naan wiped up all the sauce!!! Traditional hole in the wall with a bar and sports TVs which appears to attract regulars, where not all females should drive when they leave and on occasions could be heard in the dining room. As I arrived close to opening I assume she had a headstart on drinking! Great value for money! Great quality food! Staff are reserved but attentive! I actually went back again the next night & received a very warm welcome from the female manager/owner who remembered my exact order from the previous night and made me feel like a regular and my business was appreciated!

Delicious Indian restaurant. The staff is super nice, the food is tasty, the room decorations are fancy. In addition to a large choice of dishes, a large variety of draft beers is available. Will be back!

The food was UNBELIEVABLY DELICIOUS!! I had the butter chicken and it was easily my favorite meal. The service was great and the staff are very very very nice I loved the music and the decorations. It is such a cute place! I definitely can’t wait to come back

Nice atmosphere, very friendly too our family. We had some fantastic naan and the garden salad with a lemon mint dressing was wonderful. I really like the three table dressings, especially the green one. The cashew raisin naan was great with the brown table dressing. Awesome food at a nice price. We'll be going back next time we're in town.

Very well prepared food ... ordered three combination plates at about $17 to $20 each ... huge amount of food, all deliciously prepared ... ( for white people = excellent, ethnic folks = very good). Fresh, tender chickens, flavorful curries and sauces on both meat and veggies entres. Solidly Recommended

I highly recommend Saffron Indian Cuisine & Bar to anyone visiting LA. The hospitality from Uncle and Aunty is exceptional, and the Punjabi food is freshly prepared and authentic. We particularly recommend their freshly made strawberry lassi, Amritsari paratha, garlic naan, dal makhani, malai kofta, and the incredible gulab jamun. Even my picky kids loved and thoroughly enjoyed the food!

Everything was super tasty. Rice is complimentary with any curry. Onions were served on the side at no extra cost! In the end, the owner was super nice to let us try some of his homemade gulab jamuns! To be honest, we were traveling a long journey so we were tired and took a quick pit stop at this place and we were totally pleased with their hospitality. We got back all our energy to drive again. Would definitely recommend and would also love to come back again!

I feel confident that anything on their menu is going to be fantastic but special shout out to their vegan/ vegetarian options being as flavorful as they are. Took my two friends here for their first time and they were amazed by how good it was. We each got different drinks: ginger lemonade, strawberry lassi, and masala chai. I still have no idea which drink I loved the most because they were all so good. We all got our own dinner combination plates which come on these metal trays that are so fun. Ended with rice pudding (got two but could have been fine with one). Only “complaint” would be their outdated table signs promoting their desserts for $4 when they are actually $6. Not a huge deal at all and was the only price discrepancy. We told the server but they already knew and said it’s old. Other than that, this place is so worth your while as you eat insanely good food while Bollywood films play on a projector.

With a name like Saffron, the most exotic spice in the world, this Indian establishment lives up to its credibility as a provider of excellent fare, considerate service and an interior décor that really welcomes one to the beauty of the culture. Arriving at lunch time, a friend and I were granted a wonderful seating arrangement next to the windows with a misty white, but still pleasant, cool atmosphere outside. The pleasant aroma of exotic spices was detected upon first entering and the restaurant was richly decorated with curtains and artwork that reflected India's fascinating culture and history. Our host was a wonderful lady who was very observant to make sure our dining utensils were clean and suitable for customers. Water was graciously provided at required intervals by a gentleman (assuming to be either a co-host or one of the cooks when available to assist). The menu had a great selection, including lunch specials that included a little of many available, plus a wonderful custom mix of choosing a curry (mild, medium, or very spicy) with a second choice of solids including chicken, lamb, and even paneer cheese, plus a few varieties of rice such as saffron, per the restaurant's name. Everything was fresh and hot upon arrival, and it made hasty dining almost a necessity so food wouldn't become cold, but everything tasted so good and it brought ecstasy to this one's heart. Almost nothing was left over by the time my companion and I were finished, and we departed with a feeling of perfect satisfaction and gratitude to the business for their most excellent service. I thank our hosts and the kitchen staff for their gracious performance in providing such wonderful fare and a dining experience that I hope this review will provide them with many more customers. I wish Saffron the best of success in business, prosperity and the pleasant satisfaction unto the staff for their enjoyable service, onwards and upwards.

This place is one of my favorite spots for Indian cuisine! Five stars on every aspect! Food quality is excellent and the portions are very generous! Prices are very fair for what you get and there is yet to try an item on the menu that has disappointed. This spot is perfect for a date night, family night or even going solo. The restaurant is very nicely decorated with a nice dim lighting. Very well put together with relaxing vibes. Looking for a cocktail or beer? This is the spot! The bartender (Dan) can fix you up a delicious drink or if you are a beer type of person, I recommend the Taj Mahal. Plenty of parking and the staff is very friendly! Oh one last thing, if you know someone that is all tough and can handle crazy spicy, they have a spicy challenge. I personally haven't tried it as I usually get my food "very spicy"(which is not the most spicy option) and you better believe Im 🥵. I know my limits so don't think I'll be trying the challenge anytime soon, just thought I should share that little info.

The place is clean, spacious, and well-lighted. The decor is fairly traditional Indian. The food is rather bland and there are no sauces or pickles to make it spicier. The food is well-cooked but the buffet lunch offers few choices. The service is good. I would want to come back to see what the regular dinner menu offers.

The food is great but we’ve had too many bad experiences ordering at this particular restaurant for delivery. The order is frequently incomplete.

Didn’t knw much abt it but still I took my food away n I wasn’t really expecting that taste but if someone’s stepping in here then for mushroom bhaji I can say that it was incredible taste, it was next level if I liked something north indian in L.A for first time is this otherwise I always used to think that it’s going to be wastage of money n time anyhow it’s highly recommendable dish thx

The selection has been smaller and tobspicy hot. Indianapolis middleeasteen food should be very mild an d fla orfyl. Also the buffet price is growing yet nothing has changed. Oh well Shiela wake up and smell the coffee

Special mention to the lady as I forgot my head phones and she kept it safely.

I LOVED saffron for years but recently they have dropped the ball. This is now the 3rd time I've ordered mild and gotten food so spicy I can't eat it. This time I ordered a vegetable curry, paneer, and tofu and I found a piece of chicken. I hate complaining but this was one of my favorite restaurants and I'm so bummed.

Very bland average to poorly tasted food... We ordered chilli panneer ,malai kofta, gobi Manchurian.. gobi Manchurian passed the test.. rest of the items were not good

If you coming to pick up an order plan on waiting 45 mins at least. They don't tell you just to sit and wait and wait don't even offer a drink while waiting and wait and wait and wait...

We recently visited the restaurant and ordered our food. The Makhni Paneer and Dal Makhni were quite good, but the Goat Curry was disappointing as it didn’t have any pieces of meat in it. We requested water when ordering, but had to ask for it again after finishing our meal. The server never checked in with us to see if we needed anything else. When we mentioned that we were unhappy with the service, he responded dismissively, saying, “I’m busy and you should understand that I’m the only one here.” We pointed out that we hadn’t received our water, and he argued that we had already gotten it, even though the restaurant was mostly empty at the time. Overall, the lack of attention and poor hospitality left a negative impression on us.
