I ordered the Menudo which was very good. Pictured is the hibiscus margarita, which was very refreshing and you couldn't taste the alcohol, it was very good. The staff is also very kind and accommodating, with personality too. The food was great, exactly what I was hoping for with the menudo. The atmosphere was STELLAR! I loved the reggae music they were playing with the perfect fall weather, it was great, and with Sunday football on TV to boot? Incredible. Highly recommend this Avila's.

So good!!! My first time there and my buddy said it was really good, so we went there to eat my last meal.... My last meal before water fasting for a whole week! The good was great and the staff were all very kind!

My absolute favorite Mexican restaurant. I’ve been coming here since I was just 10 years old. I’m now 39 and I still see some of the same faces (always with a smile) working here! The food is stellar, the flavors off the charts, and the service is fantastic. My favorite are the chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. Plus the salsa is perfection. If you’re craving great Mexican food, do not hesitate to stop in.

We LOVE this place. My favorite restaurant salsa. It has all the fresh flavor you want and then a nice spicy finish. The Mahi Mahi Bowl is loaded with flavor. The whole family is happy here. The only problem is the beach/tourist pricing. Spendy, but they deliver quality.

As mentioned before, I've been multiple Avila's location. I love how the staff at each location does an amazing job embracing you and making you feel like your family or friends. Even though it my 1st time visiting many of their locations for the first time. When I think of real authentic Mexican food. Avila's comes to mind.

I searched high and low all over Newport looking for great nachos. I found them at this location! Good location near the beach. Parking and crowd not an issue on a Sunday evening. The key to these nachos: Wet pinto beans about half way down the pile of homemade chips, and fajita style veggies on top. No cheap jar jalapeños either. Lots of cheese and carne asada. I almost polished them off, but I ate too many of their warm chips and salsa....which was also awesome....nice crunch and flavor. Wife had the cheese quesadilla which she likes. Service was good. Atmosphere was nothing super special, but they do have open windows which is a nice touch being near the beach. This was a very affordable place I will visit again if back in Newport. Have the nachos....they were GREAT!

Very pleased to learn we were able to come in, just sit down and order drinks too enjoy the sunset to. Not too busy for a Sunday evening either. Both margaritas were strong and delicious, ended up getting some churros afterwards as well. A very pleasant way to start the twilight.

Talethaaaaaaa!! Our server was AMAZING! SO ATTENTIVE!! SHE WAS SUPER SPEEDY with all of our requests for condiments like salsa, ranch, and more drinks!! She even got us watermelon slices to devour lol. She is super sweet. I was so cold and she brought the heater closer to me. 😍😍😍🙏🙏🙏🙏 SHE IS SO THOUGHTFUL!! I can't wait to come back and eat here. My food was so flavorful and the Mahi salad bowl was sooo good tooo! Ugh! The WATERMELON MARGARITA! IS THE BEST THING EVERR!!! GET IT! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

The atmosphere was great and the service was quick and friendly. The food was just alright. I am from AZ so we get a lot of really good Mexican food and this didn't live up to the hype. The chips and salsa was good though!

Nice and quick service. Clean atmosphere and fair price. Food is decent in a sorta authentic way. Not a blow you away original or authentic experience. But good food, decent price served fast and clean. As long as you have that in mind it will meet your expectations.

We love Avila's and usually frequent our local restaurant in Lake Forest but today we were in Newport and wanted a margarita. The drinks were great and our table was terrific. They have large open windows which allow a nice ocean breeze. Our table was right next to the street giving us a fun view for people watching. My complaint and the reason for 3 stars was the food. Today the carnitas tasted like someone in the kitchen poured a bag of salt in the meat. I like salt but not this much. Wife had a salad with the shredded beef and the same. We managed to get it down but definitely not a great experience. This is not the norm for Avila's and have never had this experience in Lake Forest but on this day it was blah.

Ordered a Carne Asada burrito Togo. Added shrimp and sour cream and removed Pico de gallo. I received a burrito with 7 shrimp inside, and a container of uncut carne Asada and a container of sour cream in the bag. I had a simple request and was given a bag of disappointment instead.
