Sakae Sushi

One of my favorite sushi places. It's very small with limited seating and can be very busy on the weekends. If you call ahead you can make a reservation. Service is slow sometimes since they don't have very many waiters, but the fish is very high quality and worth the wait.

Food was DELICIOUS. I ordered the 007 roll and the Caterpillar Roll and they were both great. The staff was very nice and accommodating. I brought my friend back a few days later and she loved it.

We’ve been coming here for 8 years. I can’t say enough that hasn’t been said, so I’ll just suggest you skip breakfast so you show up nice and hungry. See you next summer!!

This place is superb. The service is excellent and the food is delicious. I recommend the Dynamite Baked Roll and the Sexy Girl NoRice Roll. Alsop make sure to ask for their spicy mayo. They make it in-house.

I’d give them 6* if I could. The food was perfect, great taste and portions. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was lively with regulars and visits alike. Highly recommend the dynamite roll.

Great food and excellent service! The Yellowtail sashimi was excellent and I was treated very well by the friendly and attentive staff. Fresh wasabi with the octopus was a nice touch too

Saw that you guys were still closed due to the roof fire (since July 2023). Just wanted to say this was the first place that made me realize how good sushi can be. You have the "beginner" level sushi rolls and then fresh sashimi. I still think about this salmon nigiri with a white sauce you gave us as a bonus. I remember how I came to this place after an interview, all dressed up, and you wished me well. Very homey and lovely atmosphere along with some delicious, unique food. Especially due to my diet, the no rice rolls were amazing and I haven't seen anywhere else that serves the high variety of rolls/options possible.

This place was amazing!!! We ordered the Newport Beach Roll, Love Love Roll, Mango & Tuna Roll, and a spicy scallop handroll! All of the food was fantastic and came out to about $50! We sat outside at the temporary seating for covid and it was really nice with the ocean breeze and parking took a few minutes to find up one street. Highly recommend!!!

My husband and I came here 9 years ago and just hadddd to return (we live in Northern California). We were greeted with warm smiles and treated like family from beginning to end. This place is so clean, has delicious food (try the mussels, trust me) and omg the staff is so sweet and friendly! ❤️

We decided to stop here before hitting the beach and boy let me tell you this place is underrated ! The last time we had sushi this good was in San Francisco and have not been able to find a place that can match them. The customer service here is outstanding and the employees are very nice. It really has a authentic feel to it and the Sushi was incredible. Our chef asked if we wanted a photo and ended up taking a picture with us! Haha it was a really cool and humble experience. 10/10 will definitely be returning!

Very good sushi place in new port beach. Walking distance from the beach. Friendly staff. I highly recommend this sushi joint. I usually feel heavy after eating sushi, but these sushi was very light and fresh. I did not feel heavy at all. I tried the baked salmon roll, tiger roll and salmon tempura roll. I will definitely go back!

Hot night, crunchy rainbow, amber roll, pink lady. All these rolls were super delicious and really fresh. We were from Fresno and it seems like every time we go to the coast and get sushi we are extremely disappointed. This place is a hidden gem. Sushi chef and manager were super friendly and very patient

The service was good and i thought the prices were decent, they could probably charge more for that level of quality.

This place is a little small but very tasty and reasonably priced. Their salmon was so fresh! A table of 5 people shared alcohol, a wine bottle sized bottle of cold sake, sashimi and rolls for 215 bucks. This was more than we could finish eating. So reasonable! I absolutely would go back if I didn't live so far away.

I think their sushi is really wonderful, the service was great, and the sake was enjoyable too. Our server was so much fun and made amazing recommendations. The chef really took care of us and guided us absolutely in the correct directions. It was also just a good time. I am happy with the price of it all, and really think that it is a great choice for a sushi restaurant. It's ideally better for more fun sushi rolls, but everything tasted good. I will say that I am disappointed with management for requiring you to buy bottled water as opposed to just serving it to you in a glass. That seems ridiculous to me to be requiring more single-use plastics at a restaurant. I'll still be returning, but I am disappointed with the management.

Cool little sushi spot with good food. The Jalapeno Poppers and the JJ Rainbow roll were bomb! Not a whole lot of room, but adds to the charm.

When I finished half of Udon, I found the bug and talk to them. But they didn't apologize it and just asked want new one or refund the money. Check your kitchen first before make the foods, and keep clean. No one wants to pay for bug. Bty, their Udon is trash. They used brocolies and cabbages for Shrimp Tempura Udon, and flavor was based on soybean sauce . Original Shrimp Tempura Udon don't use vegetables for it, and use Katsuobushi for flavor of the soup.
