Very nice restaurant!!!! Great Customer Service from the moment we walked in!!!!! Very friendly, kind, and professional staff!!! (Including the hostess, bartender, Manager, and our server Jenna!!!!) We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The food was delicious and fresh!!!! The salads were tasty....the bread was fresh....the appetizers were great as well!!! We had the Shrimp Beignets and the Kimchee Calamari! Anything with "beignet" in it is an automatic winner for me!!!! The sauce was pretty tasty on the Calamari! The Salmon and Goat Cheese Salad was yummy!!! The Bronzed Mahi Mahi (topped with tasty crab) with roasted fall veggies was amazing!!!!The Hot Chocolate Lava Cake hit the spot!!!!! The cucumber & honey non-alcoholic drink was refreshing!!!! The presentation of the Torched Apple Manhattan was cool!!!! The Snapper, Crab Cake, Lobster Tail, Stuffed Shrimp, Chopped Salad, and Spinach Salad were great as well!!!! The restaurant is in a great location( great view)....there is plenty of parking available! The rest rooms are very clean!!!! Merci de bien vouloir for accomodating my family for notre fete d'anniversaire!!!! 🎉🎊🥳
My parents and I reserved a table for new year's eve and I am speechless. The ambiance is just what you would want for a relaxing, romantic dinner. We got the calamari for an appetizer and it was some of the best ever. My step-father and I got the cod with lobster risotto (perhaps a holiday menu item) and my mom got the fish and gnocchi which she loved. Everything was amazing but be sure to pace yourself! We were stuffed after leaving but it was well worth it. Service is great and food is perfectly timed.
The chart house was great! L was a great waiter, he was attentive and gave us several re fills. I felt compelled to leave a review, as I was only in town for a few days and wanted to eat somewhere on the river, I tried one of the establishments next door and was told they wouldn’t seat me outside, the charthouse opened the outdoor seating even though my group were the only customers to ask to sit outside the night I went. Great service all around
Treated myself. It was all good! Quiet weeknight evening. Not over crowded. The staff were perfectly attentive. The food was delicious. I should take myself out more often.
Our first time dining at Chart House and we really enjoyed it! I got the “Chart Your Couse” and thought it was a great deal for $57 (lobster bisque, prime rib, lava cake). The sea bass & crab risotto was also good, but I thought the prime rib was better. I really liked my Mango Mojito. Our server, L, was really nice!
Great experience for parents with two littles…one of the staff members brought our toddler strawberries while we waited and our waitress was amazing. It was a busy Friday night without a lapse in service. Nice river view.
We had an excellent time at the Chart House. All of our food was top quality and our server was one of the best I’ve ever had. He was very honest when we asked for recommendations and was helpful throughout the entire experience. Our waters never went empty, haha! I believe his name was either Jerry or Jeremy, though I could’ve misheard. For our appetizer we had the Shrimp Beignets. They were melt in the mouth and the chipotle aioli was very flavorful. My partner ordered the cucumber and honey mock-tail which was very refreshing. I ordered their espresso martini which was rich and strong. For our entrées, I had the Lamb Chops while my partner ordered the Lobster & Shrimp Carbonara. The lamb was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I loved the added pomegranate for a burst of flavor with the gravy and mashed potato. The carbonara was wonderful. The lobster was plentiful in the pasta though the shrimp was a tad overcooked. For dessert we had the chocolate lava cake which, as expected, was heavenly. A beautiful view with excellent food and high class service made our trip to North all the more special!
My boyfriend and I recently celebrated our anniversary with a lovely Saturday evening dinner at the Chart House. From the shrimp cocktail appetizer to the prime rib and spicy ahi entrées, to the famous lava cake dessert, everything was delicious. Our server, Ayla, was friendly and attentive throughout the evening, too. It was the perfect spot to celebrate!
I'm not a person who usually chooses fish, but I decided to be adventurous and got the Snapper Hemingway. It. Was. Excellent. The parmesan crust, the crab on top, it was perfect. And their mashed potatoes....Holy wow. My wife got the filet mignon and some mushrooms which were cooked perfectly. We had to try their lava cake too, and it did not disappoint. We had a lovely birthday dinner with a gorgeous view. Thank you to the staff for a great evening.
We made a reservation as a group of 12 for a “day after the wedding” dinner, and had a fantastic experience. Dan was our server and was extremely professional/knowledgeable of the menu AND friendly/funny. His recommendations of dishes did not disappoint. He made it convenient for us to split salads as well as the check. The timing of the courses arriving to the table was excellent. One of the chefs who is apparently typically in the FOH came to check on us, which is always a great sign of attentiveness at a restaurant! Dan brought out a dessert for the bride and groom as a “birthday” treat which was just very cool. Meals were filling, unique, and well-plated. Atmosphere was relaxed yet upscale. Another thing to note: As someone who no longer drinks and typically feels “left out” of having fancy non-alcoholic drink options, it made me very happy that they had a good handful of NA mocktails. I had the “Faux-Jito” which lived up to its punny name! Extremely pleased! We are all from out of town, but if we lived in the Newport/Cincinnati area, The Chart House would be a restaurant we would absolutely frequent for special events!
Lauren provided exemplary service for a 6-person dinner. My wife and I joined her two siblings and their spouses to celebrate an anniversary. I had the Key West Halibut - fantastic! My wife had the Mahi Mahi special - excellent! Others in the party had Mac Nut Mahi, prime rib, Sole on Fire, and filet mignon - everything was fresh and very tasty! We all had a pre-dinner salad - some of us had the caesar salad, while others the spinach salad...we liked the fact we received the salads and had plenty of time to finish them before our entree's arrived. Our table offered great views of the Ohio River. We had a super dinner and would certainly return here in the future!
My husband and I went here over the weekend for an anniversary celebration. The hostess was prompt and greeted us as soon as we walked in and kept us updated on how long it would take for the table after confirming the reservation. The server was very knowledgeable on the menu and suggestions for dinner. The restaurant made us a anniversary dessert which was delicious and they even made special menus with Happy Anniversary on them and we got to keep them which was very special to us. The food was above and beyond what we expected and was very delicious and hot. Overall, the chart house was amazing and I for sure recommend this place for any special event and we will for sure return again. Thank you for making our 4th anniversary one to remember.
We went for a late Valentine’s Day dinner. We loved it! It’s cute, the food is good, and the staff is nice. We got shrimp beignets, lobster bisque and clam chowder, sea bass, and steak. My husband loved the clam chowder. He said it’s the best one he’s had.
I hadn’t been to Chart House in a long time but I remembered it being great. Went recently and was not disappointed. I believe our host, Reed, was actually the manager and he was extraordinary. He went out of his way to make sure we had the best table in the house as it was a birthday celebration. I believe this is one of the most underrated restaurants in the city. We had the crab cake for a starter and it was amazing. The Snapper Hemingway was phenomenal. If you enjoy seafood, do yourself a favor and check this place out!
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We sat at the bar and both the food and service was excellent. Highly recommend the Oysters Rockfeller and Chocolate Lava Cake. Thanks for taking such good care of us Paige!
A very nicely put together special event for the WEBN fireworks. Everything was amazing, & we had the best server Tracy. The food is always great here, but all the items chosen for the buffet were well done, including the pass around appetizers. The mini desserts were really good too.
I’ve dined here previously but came in for dinner this evening . Nice ambiance had a great view of the water and the service and food was wonderful would definetly recommend .
I have been going to Chart House Restaurants for over 40 years--mostly in California. Went to this location to celebrate my birthday and my friend's as well. We were seated at a table with a beautiful riverfront view. They had wonderful bread service with an assortment of breads. We ordered an appetizer that was good. We all ordered steak of some sort. I ordered 7oz filet which comes with mashed potatoes. I ordered a side of mushrooms. I also ordered a faux-ito. The food was all very, very good, which is to be expected when you are paying more. Service was a little slow. It took about 15 minutes to get our check. Our server was good, but could've been a little more attentive. I would still recommend this restaurant as the atmosphere is amazing.
We are new to town and made reservations after a local recommendation. It was our anniversary and we were looking for a classy, upscale, romantic restaurant. We were not disappointed. As soon as we entered the establishment and gave our names, we were congratulated on our anniversary. Our server Jenna was very knowledgeable of the menu and described the entrees beautifully so we could make better sections. I had ordered the prime rib and it was cooked to perfection. Honestly, it was the biggest piece of prime rib I've ever seen. Our server was attentive and always checking to see if we needed anything. The restaurant had a great selection of cocktails which was a pleasant surprise from the normal beer and wine selections we are normally limited to. All in all, I would highly recommend. We had an amazing night and so glad we chose the Chart House to celebrate our special night.
Fantastic food, service and views of the river and Cincinnati skyline. I had the lobster bisque and prime rib. I didn't get a picture of the lava cake because my daughter ate it so fast, but it was absolutely amazing.
My Wife and I had a wonderful experience here. The food and drinks were excellent and had a table with a great view of the city. Wait staff was extremely attentive. Ultimately couldn't have had a better experience and certainly will return again. Highly recommend for any fans of seafood dishes. We enjoyed our coconut shrimp appetizer, my Wife enjoyed her "Chart Your Course" options with Steak and Shrimp, and the Chef's Special (Bronzed Mahi-Mahi with Crab Meat) which I had was excellent.
This place was a wonderful experience. The views of the river and the Cincinnati skyline provided a wonderful ambience. The service was top notch, and the food was exquisite. They had great drink selection, and their mixology was on point. I’d highly recommend this place for date and night or a special occasion.
The service, food, ambiance is top notch. I would come here again to try different things from their menu. In the meantime I would recommend their Shrimp Beignets and Macadamia Cheesecake. My colleague got the steak and wine, it was pretty exceptional as well. During the evening, you can see the amazing view of the Ohio river with the skyline of Kentucky. Definitely recommend trying this place for formal as well as casual occasions.
Celebrated a birthday there. Food and service was amazing with a great view of the Cincinnati skyline. Highly recommend!
We had an amazing experience at Chart House thanks to Hancel. He did an outstanding job—he was quick, attentive, and incredibly kind throughout our visit. He made sure everything was perfect without ever making us feel rushed, and his friendly attitude truly stood out. Service like his makes a huge difference, and we’ll definitely be back because of him.
We had a lovely dinner! We came on a Friday night around 7:45, it was such a pleasant atmosphere - our server L made our visit so wonderful! Surprisingly not too packed for a Friday night considering how great our server was and how delicious the food was. Having lived in Cincinnati for over seven years now this was definitely a memorable experience. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys a great high class dining experience, skilled, funny, wonderful staff, and very incredible seafood.
We visit Cincinnati once or twice a year and Chart House is a must have on our visit. A Kentucky staple with delicious food, mocktails and dessert! The view of the river is always a calming retreat to have in the foreground during conversations and eating. Their ambiance is the type environment patrons look for when dining out. We love the Chart House!
If you want an upscale dining experience with spectacular food and ocean front views, the Chart House does not disappoint! Spectacular date night! We’ve been coming here for years, the manager, Amanda, creates an elevated experience and our favorite server, Lauren, makes us feel special. She is the most professional and welcoming person. She remembers what we like and ensures everything is done with perfection. This place is IT!
First, our waitress was exceptional. She was very attentive, kept the beverage glasses full and was knowledgeable of the menu and offerings. The food itself was amazing, prime rib cooked perfectly for the gentlemen, a beautiful bowl of New England clam chowder for myself. The chowder had a tasty stock and was full of clams and potatoes. It was delicious. Another guest had the lobster bisque. Its broth did not seem as well developed but was still tasty and had a large amount of lobster on top to garnish. The entire evening was enjoyed by everyone at the table.
I was there with a group of about 30 people. The staff were amazing. I don't know how they did it, but they kept our water and tea glasses filled throughout the entire meal. The service was impeccable. Everyone was please with the quality of their food and service. Although the entire restaurant was completely full, they kept up with us all without missing a beat. The waitstaff seemed to really care about pleasing their customers. When asked for wine suggestions they were ready with great recommendations, offering tastings and they were spot on every time. Though full of customers, the arrangements of seating areas were spaced in such a way that conversations from other guests were at a pleasant volume so that no table overwhelmed the next and everyone enjoyed themselves. The tenderloin I had was cooked to perfection! I loved the tricolor carrots and mashed potatoes! I don't get up to that part of the country very often, but whenever I am up there I never miss the chance to dine at such an outstandingly beautiful establishment. I'm looking forward to next year!!
Very nice restaurant with great views of the City of Cincinnati. Great seafood and steaks, I got the Snapper Hemmingway and it was prepared quite well. For desert the Creme Brulee was great. The staff were very good and attentive to customer's needs.
I had the special seafood meal with salad, skewer of steak and shrimp, and lava cake. It tasted very good but was barely warm. View of was great and server. Come prepared to pay a little more than other places but probably worth it.
Chart House was once a luxury dining chain at premier locations in major cities, typically, on the waterfront. This location, like one other I visited in the Sarasota area, is maintained as well as possible given its age. The decor is dated and the food is acceptable but not great; however, prices remain very high. I ate alone and my bill was almost $70 for the Prime Rib dinner, which included salad (which was fresh) and dessert. A nice evening and the staff is attentive but there are much better options at this price point.
Of course it's gonna be pricey, It's a seafood place. But this was genuinely an enjoyable experience. I had a mock tail and the avocado and spicy salmon stacker, and the service was pretty slow, but not bad for a busy night. Would recommend
The ambience of the restaurant was awesome, just overlooking the water. The presentation of the food was good too. I had the Salmon with a light cream sauce and the roasted vegetable. I also had the sunset beets, which was really delicious. Honestly, I enjoyed that the most. Ordered the mini lava cake, which was highly rated by the staff. It was good, but it may have been slightly overcooked as it there was not much "lava" remaining. Having said that, it would not deter me from coming again. Also, service was great too.
We enjoyed our anniversary dinner here! The food was excellent, as well as the service. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the view was outstanding! We were pestered by 2 or 3 flies throughout our dinner, but that isn't the end of the world. Our tuna appetizer was delicious, and I would definitely order again! We had an overall great experience, and would definitely visit again.
In terms of fine dining, it was good, but not great. Generally speaking, I would say this is a nice place for a work meal or function, but not necessarily ideal for a top tier fine dining experience. Atmosphere: Some features seem a little outdated. We sat near the bar area and it was a little noisy, especially with the TVs. Overall, nice views of the river, bridge, and sunset. Food: prime rib & swordfish were good (not great). Lacked seasoning throughout. Dessert was not good: creme brulee flight, mud cake (?) and lava cake. I am someone that always leaves room for dessert and all 3 were not worth finishing. Drinks were good. Lobster bisque was good. Service: decent. Our check was brought after ordering dessert but before it arrived. Also one of the desserts was forgotten. There were some longer periods where we weren't checked on and needing drinks/refills.
Great view. Lobster bisque, the shrimp appetizer and lava cake were amazing! This place use to have an amazing Ceaser salad not anymore. The prime rib was a disappointment. Server was friendly but the kitchen is slow.
Pat was a great server and suggested we try the butter cake from the specials. It was one of the best desserts I've ever had and will definitely be returning if it makes the menu
Our server, Mary, was wonderful. The view is nice. The food was ok. We had the calamari appetizer, two of us had steak, one had Snapper Hemingway and one ended up with salmon (he ordered sea bass but it’s kinda loud in there and our server misheard him).
The atmosphere was nice the food was really good but unfortunately we didn’t have very good service 😢. I understand places are understaffed but when people go out to treat themselves and spend their hard earned money, the expect to went themselves and relax. We unfortunately did not have that experience 😢
I ordered the bouillibase or seafood stew the mussels were bland, and the shrimp was overcooked , the broth was greasy and brasingly acidic. My husband got the shrimp linguine the shrimp was way over cooked and the mini lava chocolate cake was way over cooked it was a soft chocolate cake no lava flow i feel like it has gone down hill in the last couple of times we have went have been a downer
Ordered garlic potatoes, filet, and creamed spinach, the portion of creamed spinach was hardly worth what I paid for. Although I ordered through door dash the quality, quantity and presentation should still be up to par for the prices!
It's OK at best in my opinion especially considering the prices here. Our waitress Jennifer was great. The views are nice. The food and management was a little suspect. The food was simply bland and many items were served at room temperature. Not what I was expecting from a place like this... We walked in to an empty hostess stand and proceeded to wait 2-3 minutes before anyone greeted us at 6PM on a Friday...many others began waiting in line behind us. When the host arrived she didn't know how to use the computer. She went to get help. Help arrived and she showed us to our table. We walked by the kitchen where the manager was reprimanding his staff on the way. Kind of awkward...
Was at Chart House last evening with my work colleagues. With all the river boats floating past on the river it was a wonderful setting. We had lamb chops, shellfish Bouillabaisse, and the cod and the salmon. Excellent food and the lava cake was delicious. The only negative was the service. With so many people at the restaurant the staff was just inequipped to handle the number of people. For a restaurant that is this expensive, one would have expectations for much better service. At one point, the waiter plonked a cup of soup in front of one of colleagues, and I literally thought that the cup was going to topple over. Unless the service improves, I would pass on this restaurant in the future. For the view there are many others in the area. Disappointed, as I genuinely like the food here.
Food was really good for the wife and I, paid the bill left a $8 tip which was all the cash I had left. And on way out the door, the waitress try to embarrass me by saying thanks for being so generous before walking out the door! No matter the cost of my food was! What gives your employees the right to embarrass their paying guess!!!
Beautiful place but customer service sucked. We sat at the bar to be served. The bartender Paige was really rude. I’m talking real nasty attitude and I felt that it was because we were black. She didn’t want us at her bar. She helped others that came in after us before she took our order. We waited over an hour for our food that did not taste well for the time we waited not fresh at all. Any interaction she had with us was really smart and sassy. She should not be at the head of the house with that type of attitude. We spent a pretty penny to be treated unfair.I would not recommend this place. It gave snobby upscale. My experience was 0/10 I’ll never go back
Went here on Christmas night. Not sure exactly if they were short staff or overbooked, but it was bad. We had a reservation for 5:30pm we weren’t seated till 6:45pm. We didn’t receive a heads up or any notice of them being behind. We were sat down and never received our alcoholic drinks, bread, or even water. We later received our food and drinks at 7:30. Exactly 2 hours past our reservation. All in all it was a disaster to say the least.
Extremely disappointing experience for a birthday celebration. We chose the Chart House to celebrate my birthday and unfortunately the experience was far from what we expected. We had reservations and were seated promptly, but then sat for 30 minutes without seeing our waitress—no greeting, no water, no bread. When our server finally arrived, it was another 30 minutes before we received water or bread. Drink orders took even longer, and the food took an unreasonable amount of time despite the restaurant not being busy. When the meals finally came out, they were cold, and nothing in our party of seven was a special order—so the delays were confusing. My shrimp dinner was supposed to be remade, but instead it was simply reheated. When I asked the manager whether it had been remade, I was told yes—until I pointed out the piece of shrimp I had already bitten before they took it back. Rather than an apology, we were simply asked, “What do you want?” The manager and server never smiled or showed any warmth throughout the entire service. For a birthday dinner, for a reservation, and for a restaurant of this caliber, the service and food quality were unacceptable. I will not be returning.
I thought this restaurant was fine dining. I went there with my family for a dinner party and I will have to say that I was disappointed. The view was very nice. The servers were great. The food on the other hand was very disappointing for the price. I ordered the mama Lucci‘s Linguine And it was basically buttered noodles with shrimp that I had to take out the shell myself and then I noticed that they didn’t even take the feces vain out. I didn’t notice that the Shrimp hadn’t been cleaned properly until after the second shrimp. I guess I expected this place to have higher standards. Me and my wife spent over $200 on our dinner. I literally had to add my Lobster brusque soup to my noodles to add flavor. I ordered two crown royal and cokes with my dinner and that was nearly $40 alone. I’m not one to complain about money when I’m out for a nice dinner, but in this case, I must say that the whole dinner was just not worth the price And I just don’t think that almost $20 for a crown and Coke is acceptable when the meal wasn’t even right, I guess the next time I want egg noodles with butter, I will just stay home. I at least know how to clean a shrimp and won’t have to worry about eating feces with my meal. Very disappointing and do not recommend eating at this restaurant. I think it’s time for them to reevaluate Their whole dining experience at this restaurant and how they serve the public food and call it fine dining.
