It was GREAT! The service and ambiance was nice. My only complaint was the music selections didn't quite fit the decade. Maybe more currect jazz, pop, r&b, country...just something else. The avocado toast was to die for!
From the moment we contacted the organizers to the moment we walked in the door, this was a full service place! I was celebrating a milestone birthday. The menus were beautifully made and designed with efficiency of ordering in mind. From the moment we arrived, the staff was ready to move us in doors due the rain and proceeded to rearrange the tables to accommodate the party size and bringing extras to taking care of everyone’s food and drink orders. The only regret is not sitting on a cozy and intimate patio due to weather which is of course out of everyone’s control. Everything was taken care of and with such speed. The drinks, the food, the presentation. And all was delicious. You guys are the best!
Can only talk about the breakfast, but that was great. My omelet was perfection both days, and the wife said she loved the pot roast hash that got better with each bite. The staff were outstanding, and the dining area is attractive, well laid out and clean. Price is on the upper end (omelet $16, steak around $45), but very worth it.
Came here for a celebratory mothers day brunch. Amazing buffet and extremely friendly staff. They were super busy and must have been exhausted but all had smiles and were so helpful to my father-in-law who was in a wheelchair. Very professional and helpfl. The food was excellent.
This is our go-to for years for a gr8 and varied holiday brunch. They have a particularly good salad and dessert selection (my favs) along w shrimp, salmon, hand carved prime rib. Kids section, omelettes made to order and a large selection of entrees w fish, chicken pork and pasta. Make reservations in advance, they take em early. I made Thanksgiving reservation over a month early and they keep checking on you do you dont forget 😀
This was easily the best meal my wife and I have ever had. Everything was so delicious, from the crab cakes, to the NY strip steak, to the dark chocolate mousse. My wife normally hates pot roast, but she eat every bite of the one she ordered from here. The gravy and mashed potatoes were just so damn good. We thought the “award-winning” description was overblown. It was not. Complements to the chef(s).
Very good menu only one person running the bar, taking the orders and doing everything but he worked very hard. Food was very good
Felipe was such a friendly and professional server . He was efficient and fast, always had a smile. We had a Christmas party from work there. The food tasty and atmosphere was very festive. Great choice for a brunch
Our family hosted a milestone birthday for one of our members and hosted 43 guests. Combining it with the Sunday Brunch proved to be the right move - everyone could be satisfied. The Brunch is legendary and it has earned its great reputation. A special acknowledgement to Maureen in catering for her guidance and follow thru.
Went there on mother’s day. It was crowded but everything ran smoothly. The food was fresh and awesome. The staff were always there with the water, oj and champagne. I thought it was a bit pricey. But, than I ate the food. It was worth every penny. Great job Allgauer’s.
Great place connected to the Hilton. This rest is the main reason I stay here. Very convenient and the food is pretty good too. Will and Abraham are great bartenders.
June 25, 2024: I reserved a table for 8 for lunch and requested separate checks if possible when I reserved online. I was pleased to see the request was remembered and granted! Between all of us we ordered 6 different meals and all were outstanding in flavor and presentation. Only praise, no problems or complaints!
We were super late for the Mother's Day brunch buffet! Thank you Allgauer's staff for accommodating and taking care of us despite having to stay over 2 hrs extra for us. The food was great! We will probably come back again next year and book the Board Room
We had a catered dinner outdoors for 35 persons. The staff for the bar and food service were kind and thoughtful. The drinks and food were good - cocktails and mocktails, appetizers, stuffed chicken, desert table delicious. The outdoor setting was a good place for the spring party event.
I have stayed at this Hilton in Northbrook on a number of occasions. This time for Mother’s Day weekend. While there we tried the Allgauers restaurants and had their buffet. Such a disappointment by the quality of food for the price. I compare it to a free Continental breakfast at an average cost hotel. Our breakfast at Hilton was $50 with tip. The service was great and not the waitress fault for quality of food. I would recommend staying at this Hilton but go to another better restaurant nearby. Elly’s is a great breakfast restaurant down the road.
We came here for the Mother's Day brunch buffet. It's our first time eating in this restaurant. Upon arrival, our party was seated promptly at the time of the reservation. Once seated, I immediately liked the classic ambiance overlooking a beautiful river and pond. Food was well prepared, fresh, and tasted good. I noticed that the staff were very good at refilling the buffet table even when it's close to the end of the service time. However, for the price, I was expecting more at the food offering. The service, on the other hand, exceeded my expectations. Our waitress was very nice and attentive to refill our coffee, soda, and mimosas. All of us had a great time.
My time there.Everything tasted fresh and the shrimp salad was to die for! Perfect place for a group with varying tastes, something for everyone. They even had a chocolate fountain! Lots and lots of seafood as well.Welcome to YUMMY!
Last time I ate here was when it opened or was relatively new 46 years ago. Used to be a white table cloth high end restaurant but it's a lot more casual now in keeping with the times but has retained some of the high end prices. Food was good and well prepared. Menu was slimed down but the atmosphere was good and comfortable. Not sure I will wait another 46 years to try again I doubt it will last that long and neither will I.
We went to Algauer's for their Father's Day Brunch. Everything was good, but not phenomenal. That being said, the high price makes it a hard pill to swallow! We were a party of five and each ate between $10 - $25 worth of food - but spent over $50 per person. I think $35 would have been appropriate - and more in line with other similar buffets.
Awesome staff, unbelievable tasty lunch where the meal met so many dietary needs. AV staff fantastic, car parking plentiful, venue impeccably clean but conference room with the round tables made it difficult for many to sit comfortably due to chairs being back to back. Definitely would choose this venue in the future but would need to understand the table setup for an all day conference.
We were there for a funeral luncheon. The food was outstanding! The wait staff went above and beyond. Despite the circumstances, we had a very good experience, sharing stories of our deceased loved one and catching up with family we haven't seen in years. Two minor criticisms. The men's bathroom was a little run down. Not bad, but not appropriate to the venue. There was a large industry conference at the same time we were there, so there was likely a little more disarray than normal. Still, subpar. The tablecloths were too long! They fell to the floor. It was easy to get tangled in them, especially for the older attendees. (Bonus: extra, never-ending emergency napkin! ☺)
Came here for Mother's day brunch. Everything was great from the moment we walked in. Greeted by friendly staff and seated right away. Food was amazing as well. Lots of different options and everything tastes good. Took advantage of the bottomless Mimosas.
This is a restaurant that we used to go when we celebrated special occasions because it had great food and was beautiful. Last nite we went and it's not the same at all. The menu was an 8 by 11 stock card with only a few very high priced dishes on it. Nothing that they ever served before. The place was empty. What we did have for dinner was very good though. Very expensive.
Easter brunch 2023 was an average affair. Service was very good but be prepared to pay a SERVICE FEE of $22.00 for a party of two in addition to the advertised price and a tip, making the meal quite expensive. While there were plenty of food options, the lunch choices heavily outweighed breakfast fare. The omelette station was a huge disappointment, lacking flavor. The preparation was good but the eggs tasted bland as if watered down mix was used. Strangely, syrup was available but there was no French toast or pancakes leaving me to wonder why it was there. Overall, I wasn’t impressed and will be looking for other options next year.
Each time we visit, it is less than the last. During most of our visit on early Friday evening we were one of two occupied tables. The rest of the time we were the only ones there. It appears a sole man is the only staff. He was at the podium, took and delivered our order and presented the check. These were the only timrs we connected with him. Didn't look too happy but with the prospects of a poor night ($$$), who can blame him. We will not be going back.
We have gone here for Christmas for several years and it was always very nice. Today, Easter, it wasn’t as nice. And as we were talking about it, another person, who we didn’t even know, came up and she agreed. They wanted extra money for the shrimp now. The food area was cut down to 2/3s of the size it used to be. What I had was all tasty, but I didn’t even try 3/4s of the food. All the items in the heated serving dishes looked mushy and I didn’t eat any. I expected traditional choices like asparagus and au gratin potatoes and there weren’t any. Mashed potatoes and ham??? Only one veggie choice and they were way over done. The service was not great. They seemed to have enough waiters. We were a party of all women and my friend noticed that the waiter would run to the tables with men and go right by us even if we were waving at him. I couldn’t get butter or hot sauce. Had to ask several times and my food was cold by then. My friends wanted coffee and we were ignored. Finally, one of them went up to the station to find it herself. I think we need to find a new holiday destination.
My family has been going to allgauers for near a decade now, the food was usually very good, however this year the restaurant has taken a turn for the worse, much worse. We booked a private room for 4-5 hours. The minimum on the room is 20 , originally we had 21, but for various reasons ended up only having 19, but still had to pay the minimum - I understand this and have no problem paying for the extra food that was ordered we expected to be able to get it wrapped to go in this case. When we arrived the shrimp platter looked like it was half eaten or they really have cheaper out on the service (1st warning sign) Then the food was out with sternos for barely 90 minutes and the staff started taking it to the back, (near full trays of food -2nd warning sign) we asked for some boxes to pack up some the leftovers for the meals which we were paying for, but had a last minute cancellation. The staff said they didn’t have any to-go containers for the food but would leave the room temperature desserts out - seriously we paid for a 4+ hour hot buffet. We had the room for another 3 hours we were not sure why they were rushing us in this manner. Then they took all the dishes and flatware - while people were still hungry and all the food we paid for was wasted. After another half hour the service was a ghost town - we had to go to the hotel to ask for service - very strange (3rd strike). I haven’t seen service this bad since Covid and employees were scarce (in general). With no one to refill drinks or food to eat we ended up leaving well over an hour before the end of our reservation. Wish I had a chance to tell you more about the food but it disappeared before we could really get a chance to eat it. Service has gone way down since last year - I don’t think that they will make it much longer if this trend continues.:(
Extremely frustrated with the restaurant and service. we made reservations for Thanksgiving several days back. we were told we have until November 20th to cancel. Although they already charge my credit card Approximately $500. we have a cancer patient in the family and I broke my foot. I have left 4 messages to try to cancel a reservation and I cannot get a live person to save my life. I have left 4 messages over the last week and have not gotten a one phone call. today is the deadline to cancel reservations yet I cannot get a single person to acknowledge any of my phone calls or call me back. terrible way to do business, so very, very disappointed. I guess tomorrow, the next thing is a call to a higher level And also my credit card company to dispute these charges. It is extremely upsetting to have to go through all of this, just as simply cancel a reservation. not good for business at all, very, very disappointed.
Worn-out and ESL staff. I wouldn't go back.
We ordered Short Rib for $32 (+ tax + tip), but there was no meat at all, only a pile or fat. I might accept an idea that it was a mere coincidence/accident, but my daughter's rib was just as disgusting. I did not feel like complaining, but I had to answer the waiter's question, "How do you everything?" with an honest answer, "I don't like it." I have to admit that he offered a replacement, but we waited for our meal for at least 1/2 hour and were hungry, so I did not feel like waiting for another 1/2 hr. Then he told the chef about it (his own decision), and the chef came over some 15 minutes later and admitted that the rib was too fatty and offered a replacement or to take it off the bill, but, again, I did not want to wait, so I took a credit, but my daughter was too embarrassed to even show them that her rib was the same way. I would give them 1 star, but I at least appreciated their credit offer. This restaurant had good good Sunday brunches, but this dinner turned me away from them forever. Farewell Allgauer's...
We came for dinner. Had appetizers, salad, halibut, bananas foster. Problem was we ordered sangria and a signature mixed drink. Waiter brought 2 signature mixed drinks. He thought that is what was said and if he had heard sangria he would have said it wasn't available. The mixed drink was HORRIBLE. Neither of us could drink it. We were not offered an exchange or even the $22 taken off our bill. Even when asked.
We came for a thanksgiving dinner and they hand us a menu with about 5 things on it. I know they had different things on their website menu, so we asked for the regular menu because I am a vegetarian and I didn't come to just eat a simple salad which was the only non-meat product they offered on their "Thanksgiving Menu". They say that was the only menu they had and we were ready to leave until they finally give us their regular, every day menu. It seems the waiter didn't speak too much English, and it was just difficult to communicate. We finally ate and the food was decent. But we had to ask for to-go twice from our waiter, but he didn't bring one so we asked another waiter to finally bring them so we can leave. Overall: lots of unnecessary waiting, poor communication, and poor service. I wouldn't reccomend it.
Went for brunch and my eggs benedict was hardboiled. I asked if potatoes came with and the waitress said yes but she ordered me an extra side of potatoes. Had to send the eggs benedict back and didnt get to enjoy the meal because my loved ones were finished. Fruit was good. Everything else was super salty.
The Easter brunch was so disappointing. The buffet was messy ,the service slow the desserts table was very limited with cheap made up last minute ,put together cheesecake and the chocolate fountain have only marshmallow and pineapple, "They run out of strawberries by .2 pm.
Lobster had a strong tasted and smell of ammonia, after letting staff know, instead of apologizing and trying to make things right, they try to prove that it was fine. And acted very unprofessional, manager told me "How do you know how ammonia tastes?" and "Sure, customer is always right." We had a table of 14 people and almost everyone felt the taste of ammonia. After getting home, and doing a quick research online, I found out that if lobster tastes like ammonia it means that its not fresh/spoiled.
Manager "Frank" tried to charge a $17 service charge for booking through Open Table even though we booked directly through Algauer's. I would not attempt the buffet..not worth it....but if you do, WATCH your bill! They also charged 21% tip.for.our group of 5....I.usually tip at 20% but they CHARGE 21%. This Sunday brunch buffet that they charge $85 per person is a $45 buffet at best.
We Made a late reservation for our Easter dinner the food was cold and the server was frustrated that we wanted our food to be satisfactory he did adjust to a nice mode because we kept apologizing however we also did the morning Brunch the bacon was not crispy and the pancakes were very tough and heavy. We had to ask for bread and butter to be brought to the table with our dinner. The water glasses were dirty I never usually complain they did remake our order and it was satisfactory however we were tired and took it back to our room I am a regular guest of the hotel and in my past experience the food was although this experience wasn’t the best
We went there on mother’s day to have brunch in one of there banquet rooms. So disappointing. We were like cattle call. The food was average and cold. The dessert tasted like it came out of a box from the freezer. The included a 20% tip on your bill. Did not get waited on, dirty dishes on our table, never was asked if we would like champagne and needed refills on juice. For the price of $47 a person and a $45 dollar tip. Unbelievable
The actual grounds and hotel are nice. However the staff from banquets wasn't very hospitable. It took a very long time for them to come (over an hour)and when he did he said he had other work to do instead of assisting us. As if our needs weren't important as others.
Went for Christmas brunch. $56 a person. Food had barely any flavor. Things tasted like cheap food. Our table looks like they squeezed it in the middle of everything and I had to keep getting up to let people thru. Never again.
When we called your establishment and found out that you brough back the Sunday brunch we were excited. We thought the price of $53 was a bit steep but we figure with the variety of seafood offered it would be worth it. A party of 4 came in on Sunday, 8/21/22 for your Sunday brunch. We were all totally disappointed and upset that you knowing that there would be no seafood still charged $53. This was very misleading and not worth the price you charged us. We will not be returning and will not recommend Allgauer's on the Riverfront to others. I couldn't post this without giving one star but in reality it should be NO star.
Still riding out my contract because after the most unprofessional and uncomfortable experience, I refuse to continue to receive my treatments from the Bloomingdale Illinois location. U are pressured to write a review right after your first visit. Then, if they accidentally give up your appointment to someone else, you are turned away even tho u have an appointment and took time off work to be there. There's so much more, but I'll stop there. Milan has been the worst laser hair removal experience I've had. I have been getting laser since I was 15, I'm 34 years old now. I am waiting for my contract to end so I can go see a respectful, honorable location that cares about the service and customer. This place is only after money review and body's
Can I rate it 0 stars ? Awful experience. I won't come back. Had 1:30 reservation for Father's Day and had to wait 20 minutes to get in . When we discussed our frustration with hostess she rudely said " it's not my fault" . Most of the chafing dishes were empty and had to wait another 25 minutes to be refilled. Poor selection of food. Food was cold and had no flavor. Kids section had 3 soggy mozzarella sticks and dried out chicken strips..
Their Thanksgiving preordered meal is a joke. We ordered for 2 people, and got enough for 1 person. Way overpriced. Not accommodating at all. And they didn’t even give us everything they said was included! I didn’t think it was possible to have my favorite holiday ruined anymore than it already was by not being able to be with family, but Allgauer’s managed to do that!
Mother's Day brunch Was bad food was below average no food for kids. They dad a chocolate fountain, but the chocolate never hardened not worth the 75 per person
Made a reservation online for mother's day brunch, only to be called on Saturday evening (7:30 pm) before mother's day that they weren't open at the time the reservation was made. I asked to speak to a manager to understand why they would allow me to make a reservation... No manager was on staff that night, I asked to speak to the hotel manager... no manager was at the hotel at that time (contrary to Hilton policy of always having a manager on staff). Algauers use to be a highly reputed brunch that my family would go to for special occasions. This new iteration seems to fall far short of that reputation.
What a shame. Have been going to this establishment for many years and I have never been disappointed until their Easter brunch buffet. It was terrible. I needed a steak knife to cut eggs Benedict. That should not be. Any money would have been too much for that quality of food. Never going back.
We have been to Allgauer’s so many times over the last two decades. Every time we went, we had an amazing experience; both food and service. It is now called Riverfront Grill at Hilton North but we still wanted to go to their Easter buffet. We thought it would be the same as we were used to. WE WERE SO WRONG!!! The quality Allgauers once had was completely gone. The only good thing I can say is the hard working wait staff who made sure we had everything we needed. We will not go back and waste an $85 per person bill. We would rather go to Old Country Buffet.
Very disappointed. Their w website is out of date and the place was completely empty during brunch time on a sunday.
This was our first time for Mother’s Day Brunch and it will be the last. This buffet is extremely overpriced we thought for what they were charging it would be amazing. $400 bill for 5 people and there was no gluten free options as mentioned when I called. Was very limited and only some dishes were restocked. Service charge is automatically charged plus a 4% processing fee. This is also not a restaurant as advertised because my bill says Hilton hotel. This is a hotel buffet trying to up-charge themselves.
