Ive been here a good number of times. Food is good, prices are average, but whether it's busy or not I usually don't get the best service. I usually have issues looking for my server, I always have a few items that never arrived, some servers are better than others about making that right though. Once I had an issue with my rice, it was almost mush I couldn't eat it. The server was great when it was brought up, but apparently the kitchen said rice is soft and ended it at that.

Had dinner here for the first time and I liked the ambiance. The lighting, comfortable seating and good music made for a nice night out. The meat quality was good, but I've had better selections at other spots specifically the bulgogi which I found to have too much hard fat to chew thru, I particularly enjoyed the Galbi and Hawaiian Bacon they were very flavorful. The sides were just ok and not very tasty. Would not recommend the Kimchi Rice its like rice and ketchup, and the Katsu Fish tasted over fried and fishy...not the good kind of fishy. Overall the service was good and gave us suggestions that that turned out great.

I’ve never been to Gen Korean BBQ house before, so I’m unsure of what’s considered standard or not. Service was pretty slow, only one waiter moving about (who was excellent btw, no issue there), and there were only four side dishes of various kimchi. The meat was just ok. I think it’s very good bang for your buck.

I was hesitant about Visiting this place since I've never visited one before but my kids have plenty of times. Upon arrival, the place was full, but we got a table right away. The place is big and very nicely decorated, the tables are comfortable and spacious. We ordered the regular menu at the beginning, which was a mistake since the quality of the meat was very low, so we ended up upgrading to the deluxe menu, which made a big difference. Not only is meat better quality, but the seasoning on some of the items is much better. We ordered different varieties of meat, but our favorite one was the Wagyu, which was delicious. The deluxe menu comes with free alcoholic drinks; I ordered the King's Bliss. It was delicious, and my son ordered the blue lemonade, but his taste was too strong. The customer service at the beginning was excellent, but as time passed, they forgot to bring us what we requested. We waited 15 minutes for our meat to arrive at the end. The calamari was very tough and the coating was very thick compared to other places. The shrimp from the regular menu doesn't come pre-seasoned, but the one from the deluxe menu does, so it makes a big difference flavor-wise. The price is higher than other places around the area. Overall the experience was okay, I will definitely give it another try.

This Gen used to be my family's go-to kbbq when we lived in the valley. They have reasonable prices, great food, friendly staff, and so on. Unfortunately as of tonight it seems as though the staff has been changed out and are no longer as welcoming, and seem to not know what's on the menu either?? While it is understandable that at 8 pm Gen is very busy, we waited almost 15 minutes! at a time for a napkin (which never came :(( ) and other similar items. Additionally the meat quality has decreased dramatically, the brisket and similar "thin" meats are now better described as "grounded" meats. Has the chef been cutting horizontally as well as vertically, or perhaps taken up a mortar and pestle?? Be warned, a plate of brisket diminishes dramatically to thumbnail-sized once it hits the grill. . . (order more at once). Anyways, I guess the best word to describe Gen is "baffling" i.e. Where's my food? and Where did the meat go?

I seriously don’t know why people still eat here I tried to give it a benefit doubt but let me sum it up for everyone. They cut the meet SUPPER THIN to the point it’s easy to burn ur food from the past 5 years Prices went up they love to rush u guys as well not the 2 hour wait I mean there just over all rude (except th front there honestly nice) but for the others it’s to the point u think if u even wanna tip or not the drinks are water down that’s why they do Promotions so Often this goes for a Majority of Gen Korean ur better off going to a local won or just going to a different Korean bbq Spot TRUST ME!! Honestly everyone in the valley/LA knows Gen went down hill it’s not a go to spot anymore

Not even close to what Korean barbecue should be. We were given two banchans, just two and they were the size of a soy sauce dipping tray. They were also terrible. Rice was not Korean but closer to Thai long grain. Service was super slow. Meat was small in portion and only 1-2 were worth eating. Could not have had a sadder "Korean" bbq experience.

This review is for their to-go plates. 3/10 — I ordered their 2 meat plate ($17) and 4 meat plate ($28). The portions are SMALL. I’m not expecting AYCE portions but my God lol it was crumbs of pork bulgogi & 85% of my brisket was inedible/burnt. Not much difference between both plates in regard to portion — both plates had practically the same amount of meat & mostly rice 🙃 oh yeah & both plates were missing their sides! Just lost a customer. Super disappointing lunch. If you’re in the mood for KBBQ in the area, go to MGD or Hanoo Galbi instead!

This place kind of sucks now. The service is not what it used to be. Ive been a customer for years & when i returned this last visit was just bad. I asked for salad 3 times, had to remind the server i needed my beverage twice, etc. It really sucked having to remind the server we existed & already ask for these items. When they charged my table, they didnt divide the total evenly; they gave us attitude & offered no solution to fix it. Left us with a “Thats not how our system works” that should have been something that was disclosed when we were asking to use 2 cards. As a fellow food service representative this visit was bad, no rush to come back anymore.

Party of 2. We were sat promptly. Menus were super greasy (orange grease, used my only napkin to wipe down menus and table). Rice served first: Mushy, overcooked. Then the sides came out: FROZEN KIMCHI! Drinks came out. Ordered wine: given two shot glasses for wine (okay I guess?). Ordered food to cook at table. Asked servers if the fan was on. They said the fans are always on. Smoke and vapors from the food flowing into my face the entire meal. The fan was not on. Fish katsu was overcooked: tasted like it was fried in old oil. Same with the fried chicken: dry, flavorless, unseasoned. Discovered that the shot glass I was drinking out of had a sharp chip in the rim. Tried to show a server but was blown off (Landon was his name and he just took off when I tried to show him the glass). See Picture below. What on earth is going on here??? This place does such a disservice to KBBQ and Korean food in general. The Glendale location was a far better experience than this. Do not waste your time or money here. Such a disappointment.
